This is the worst company i have ever seen. Blames customers for everything. When refuse to rent you a car they have already took you money... Good luck ever getting a refund been trying since May 2021. They transfer you to hang up on you. I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO USE ANYONE BUT HERTZ COMPANY!

When our SUV was not available, newly hired manager, I think Natalie, she went well above and beyond. She drove herself to the airport location and brought SUV we asked for. Very great customer oriented service. She ensured we are happy with interior of the car and lowered our rate for one day we were waiting on car. Thank you!!

Wouldnt recommend this particular location, customer service was pleasant initially however when faced with an issue and the opportunity to handle adversity they refused to showcase accountability and return/accept phone calls. The car we received has an unbearable odor that has ruined the first half and potentially our whole trip. Hopefully we hear from someone.

Prepaid $443 for a week rental 10 days before our rental. The day before we rent it, they call and say they dont have it... then they wanted $50 to cancel the reservation... then our prepaid $443 that they took on 3/20/21 HAS NOT BEEN REFUNDED YET. What in the world? We immediately went to Enterprise Car Rental and they were great. STILL WAITING FOR OUR REFUND, STILL..... run, run away from Hertz!!!!!

Anyone needing to rent a car, DO NOT go through Hertz! They gave us a car that had already been returned by a couple because there was an issue with the tire and instead of fixing it they turned around and rented it to us. We spent most of our Saturday on our vacation 3 hours away from home at mechanics trying to get this tire fixed. Had to call their emergency roadside assistance (that they we paid an additional 8.99 a day for), sat on hold for all together about 2.5 hours until we finally got ahold of someone and they said to call them back when we got to the mechanic they deal with so they can pay for the tire, still had to pay the $127 for a tire out of our pocket because we sat on hold at that mechanic for an hour and a half before they call disconnected and now they are saying they can’t reimburse us for the money for the tire. So, they put our family in a car that they KNEW was not safe to drive, we spent a good portion of our vacation fixing the problem, and now we are out the money we paid to fix it. We will NEVER deal with Hertz again and we recommend no one else does either unless they enjoy putting their family in danger and being out hundreds of dollars.

The process was a headache from the start. I made a reservation that was confirmed by Gladstone only to find out the day of the rental that there was no car available for me. They told me to contact their sister location in Independence and whoever had a car 1st would accommodate me. The Independence location ended up getting a car 1st but they wouldnt honor the pricing I was given. Mind you this was after they agreed to get me a car since Gladstone couldnt and the car was 3 hours late. When it was time for me to return the rental I arrived to a sign on the door saying they were closed until next week and to contact the other location to return. No advance notice, no call or anything. The drop box was full of papers and I had to take them out to get my keys to drop. Outside of the fact that the car was nice I doubt Ill ever rent from them again.

This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had renting a car, you need two cards to rent a car, and then they use the wrong card to pay for the rental if you do it online and pay now sure you use a credit card because they will take all that money off that card and pick the pay in store option, my experience was I used my cc to rent the car and wanted the payment to be put on the credit card and it was taken from my debit card which they stated i could not use in the first place but yet you took my money from my debit card and not my credit card which I ask your staff to do. So 200.00 was taken from my debit card and I didnt know that until I saw my account a week later, what if I didnt have that money in my account I would be out of fees because Hetz would it. Never will rent from them again, NEVER

We stopped by this morning with my reservation and confirmation to pick up my vehicle and head into work. They confirmed that I did have the reservation and informed me that they did not have my vehicle and did not know if or when they would, but would give me a call if they found one. Dont take a reservation for a vehicle that you dont have any. Your actions affect peoples plans and in this case, their livelihoods.

The rental car I received through Hertz was absolutely disgusting. It was free of charge through State Farm while my car was being fixed after someone veered into my lane. If I had any other transportation to get to and from work I would have returned it immediately. They should be embarrassed to rent out cars in this condition.

Very helpful when picking up and dropping of the vehicle. I used it for a week and was happy with the vehicle. Sadly I chose a specific vehicle online and they did not have it, when I returned it one day early there was no compensation offered. They did tell me I could keep it for an extra day for 10 dollars. Next time I will rent for fewer days and then keep it longer. I thought that outside of these experiences everything was typical.

My wife was in a car wreck we went to Hertz our insurance stated that we only had to give $50 for the rental because we had rental ins coverage. That $50 was suppose to be refundable. Instead when we returned the car and earlier than the ins paid out agreeable time. Hertz tried 3 different ways to get $200 plus more money out of us. One way was they shorted our time stating we were only covered to certain date said by ins. We called ind and found out the original coverage time was still in affect and didnt change. (At least 2 weeks more coverage was available through ins) or car size rented was less and cheaper than the daily allowance allowed by ins. Hertz took an additional $50 for another deposit. Also when we returned the car they wanted more money. A hundred eighty something.We were stressed out from the wreck. I was at work for JeDunn and recieved a call. It was much wife screaming in pain. A car just pulled out in front of her and a Jackson county Sheriff. The officer was able to swerve and miss car that pulled out. The occupants were teenagers who 15 and 16 they got out and ran. Left a newborn in the car. Car wasnt licensed or insured. And neither one of them had a license. Sheriff had to foot chase them down and when he caught them they were yelling it wasnt them.Went to hertz. One of the options our insurance recommended. Our experience with them was stressful. They tried to word us out of more money. They lied to us about or coverage and shortened our car rental. And on top of all that. We Never received our deposits back, the original or the extra one.Shortly after we had another wreck. Unfortunately. This time we went to Enterprise car rental. The deposit was the same as per requirements of our insurance, $50. They never bothered us with phone calls and didnt try to shorten our rental. We returned it and received our $50 deposit back. We walked away from enterprise feeling relief and I remember stating that is good business and Adult treatment.Hertz car rental was a lot of stress on top of stress. Thumbs downs for Hertz is the nice way of putting it.

After a super stressful morning of our BRAND NEW 2020 Ford Explorer not starting due to transmission issues. Metro Ford got me an Escape at this location (which ended up needing an oil change-totally fine) they gave me a Buick that was just as comparable. All while dealing with our less than pleasant attitudes from the stress of everything the employees here were helpful and upbeat. The only reason it’s getting 4 stars is because of the wait for the car to be cleaned.

Reserved a car at Liberty MO location only to show up on the day of pick up to have a sign that it is closed. It says to call the Independence location who transfers you to the Gladstone location who does not answer. Never got such poor service.

My family and i got abandoned at a car shop in blue springs mo by usaa. This company went out of their way to obtain a vehicle for my active duty husband, 2 sons ages 4 and 1, and I. They ensured we werent left in an unusual city 3.5hrs from home with no help or transportation. Their customer service and compassion in our emergency situation ensured an active duty war veteran and his family could safely return home. I thank you all for your outstanding service.

Arrived to pick up my car and they didnt have it ready on time. Waited almost an hour after the pick up time before they had it ready for me. While I waited I heard someone approach the counter and the luxury SUV they had reserved wasnt available and their only options were to take a minivan or drive to Overland Park to get one. After returning the vehicle, 3 weeks later I get a letter stating I never returned it and I need to immediately return it. I tried calling the number on the letter and of course it is closed. No wonder Hertz is facing bankruptcy. Go with another company.

Wow, absolutely zero customer service. Employee hung up on me in the middle of a question. Have a reservation to pick up a rental due to an accident and was told that Hertz would contact me. After finally getting through to local Independence office, I speak to rude associates who are informs we dont call people. I say fine, when can I pick up the rental, only to be told, we dont have any cars it will be after 5. Then in asking for if here are other locations that have cars I am hung up on.

Today we had an “ice storm” in which the streets were treated and retreated all day. By 3pm the streets were clear with slick spots here and there, but nothing to be too concerned about. This location closed at 3pm after the “freezing rain” had already stopped. My reservation was at 4pm. Luckily I was able to leave work early to pick up the keys to the car before they closed early which means I would be able to go on my trip at the scheduled pickup time, right? WRONG. This location parked another car right in front of the rental I was supposed to be picking up, so that leaves me with keys to a car that I paid for but I CANNOT drive. The best part about the entire situation is that no one seems to be able to resolve, justify, or rectify the problem. All I get is “We will be calling you back,” but to no surprise I haven’t heard anything back.

Told them we were on our way explaining we were two minutes away. Arrived at noon and the doors were locked and no one would answer the door. They knew we were coming. Not even worth a 1 star! Had my car in for a accident repair, customer service called to make reservation. 8am on Tuesday morning we will have a driver meet you. Night before body shop called said they would not be able to meet me until 10am...... So I called asked if I could come pick car up guy told me no hung up on me.....I called again after a long wait on hold manager said Be here before 6 we will have a car. Now I want to return I called and asked since this was a 35 min drive for me if they could schedule for someone to pick up the car. The same guy from before laughed and said no, we dont pick cars up you rent you drop off! I asked if it matter where I drop off the car. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION. I prepaid my rental online. I went at my scheduled time was told that there was not a car available. The employee had no customer service skills. After a brief discussion, I was that they will call when a car was returned. I did get a call but it was for a dirty rental car. The reviews are not exaggerated, they provide solid 1 star customer service. If you really need to get where you are going, go anywhere else. I posted a picture of the passenger seat. It was covered it stains.

This is no joke! I have never experienced customer service to this degree. We prepaid weeks in advance for a cargo van. Guess what happened. Yup.. An hour before I was to pick up the rental, the girl who was working the desk (the only person at this location) called to tell me they didnt have one in the entire kc area. They offered me a Nissan Murano. Ill let you decide if that is comparable.After sternly explaining how they are throwing off all our carefully laid plans by failing to plan ahead themselves, she hung up on me.After placing 5 calls she finally picked up the phone. I asked her to have her supervisor call me. She wanted me to write down his number. Since I was walking to the rental location, I had no way to write it down. I felt it was the least she could do to help me with this disappointment. I had to ask her 4 times to have him call me.In the end we just had to cancel the reservation. I asked three different people to send me confirmation. I was told they would. However none was sent. Its now been 2 weeks and they still have our money.So.... Do you like giving your money to a company that wont give anything in return? Then call Hertz today!

Had an insurance claim on my vehicle. Insurance made a reservation at hertz a week in advance. I called the day before to confirm the reservation and was told all is good and they would have a car. Come time to pick up the rental I was told they had no vehicles to rent out. Then was told I had to be the one to find a location that had a car. He wouldnt even look around for me to make up for the stores mistake. Very poor customer service from this location.

This is the worst experience with any rental car company I have ever had. The rental was for my work and was supposed to be a midsize car. Not only was it a compact car it smelled of cigarette smoke the gentleman wanted to argue with me about it. Hertz did not even show me witch car I was to take and didnt do a walk around to note any existing damage to the vehicle. Last week I rented another car from enterprise and they where very courteous and actually have me a very nice midsized car and not a base model compact car. We done a walk around the car and noted any little scratch and the car was clean and didnt smell. I will never use hertz for a rental service again.

Originally we rented through the Liberty location. I was called today and told that the Liberty location had closed and I would now have to travel to Independence to pick up the rental, which is a 45 mile drive for us. The gentleman I spoke with was not willing to help us in anyway or able to provide a single helpful solution to the problem that Hertz created for us, not a problem that we created for them. I continued to offer solutions to try and make this work (such as them bringing the car to Liberty the area to meet us, or them picking us up as was offered with the first deal).After planning months in advance I am now scrambling to find a reasonable price with another company that has better customer service with only 2 weeks before our vacation.

After spending an extra 45 minutes of me calling my car insurance asking why the cost was so much, when it was just the hertz employee mistake. Worst experience EVER. They made me wait an hour for a car I had reserved a week prior. They didn’t even have one ready and had to go get one cleaned that had JUST been returned. They barely looked at the car for a pre inspection and filled out the customer experience survey for me and had me sign without realizing what I was signing until the emailed confirmation giving them a glowing experience survey! Then I left it at the repair shop for pickup the day my car was ready and they still haven’t picked it up two weeks later and I’m now being charged daily for a car I returned weeks ago. They said they sent a driver out and couldn’t find it. Well then they should’ve called me to let me know. They are supposed to pick it up today and refund the charges so there’s that at least. The actual car I received to drive was decent and clean. But the service is severely lacking here.

Personal vehicle was in an accident and while in the shop for repairs insurance arranged a rental car through Hertz. We were told they had to have a credit card on file and that it would not be charged since obviously the insurance that arranged the rental would be billed. I now have a $419.84 charge on the credit card that was not even supposed to be used. Of course no one will answer the phone, filed fraud charges and hope to steer others away before getting ripped off as well.

Originally had reservation at the Lee Summit location but they called around and found a vehicle at a different location. Instead of having it brought over, we had to have our ride take us there to pick it up. It was completely FILTHY! Some sort of liquid had been spewed all over the dash and ceiling, outside was dirty but also had black grease hand prints all over, and it SMELLED like stale sweat mildew, especially when the AC/heat vent was turned on. Drove it about 10 miles and the oil light came on. There was no offer to make things right. Employees treated it like it was no big deal.

Lets over look the fact that they overbook their cars. We turned in our car on a Saturday and we ended up seeing extra charges on our account the following Monday. When we went in to dispute the charges we found out they never checked our vehicle back in. They then went to charge us for smoking (we dont smoke) and cleaning fee. When we demanded to look at the vehicle we found someone had left a bag pillow and trash (none of which was ours). They didnt seem to care until we stated we were going to file fraud charges with the state and our bank. The staff is less than professional and it makes me wonder if there are others they have done this to. Could not give less than one star.

Do not use this rental place they charged me 139.86 for gas when i returned car and when i called and told them they said they would refund it. Two weeks later still no refund. And it is horrible because i filled up the gas tank before i took the car back because of the charge and now i have to pay over draft fees. Done with Hertz. Was overcharged for $111 and told would take 6 weeks for refund. 2 and a half months later still no refund with multiple calls put in. Couldnt get anyone to answer the phone at 8am. Finally got an answer after several calls. Staff could not give me an estimate on how long it would take to be picked up. I asked to speak top the manager and was put on hold for 20 mins. The body shop told me to use a different company. And I regret not taking their advice. A few calls later they finally told me that it could take several hours before anyone would return from other pick ups and still wouldnt let me speak to a manager. Worst service ever. The less summit location was much more efficient and much more friendly.

Terrible. Had a reservation for a mid-size car. Spoke with office the morning of reservation requesting to be picked up, no problem, they would send somebody out. Worst. Place. Ever. The manager Michelle Wilson at the Independence, Missouri location is extremely unprofessional and condescending to customers. I had to call 5 times before she would even talk to me. Other employers had left her multiple notes to call me over the course of four days and she still never called me. I finally called again and she answered, then hung up on me. I called right back and a different employee answered, transferred me to her, and then she tried to claim she didnt even previously answer the phone. Hertz is only out there to squeeze every dime they can out of a customer with extra charges. I will never use again.This comes after I spent 4 hours trying to talk with the 800 hertz number, repeatedly got hung up on, misinformed multiple times about where I could even drop my vehicle off at, had to jump start the vehicle multiple times which made us late returning the vehicle which resulted in then charging me an extra day even though I tried contacting customer service multiple times to remedy the situation.

Booked a rental so i thought on a monday was told to call on wednesday by eric for a better idea on what type of vehicle that would be availabe. spoke with another guy on wednesday morning to verify my reservations and here it is thursday morning day of vacation and im stuck with no way to get there. Luckily entetprise is able to help. highly recommend not going to this company

Overpriced for what you get..customer service isnt even a option..they rake you over the coals to meet there sales goals..no water for customers not a good seating area for people or animals..usually rent from other places..also had to pay for 2 cab rides to get the lowest quality stock car they had to dump on me..wont be back hertz

Was told they close at 9pm on Saturdays. Came to pick up car and find out they close at noon. Never again

They wouldnt accept my bank issued card and told me I had to pay $50 as a down payment when everything is suppose to be paid for by the insurance company. So screw this place it sucks.
