While i was there they forgot to give 3 of 4 different people their drivers license back. One gentleman drove around all day without his drivers license and they didnt even call to let him know. I had no problems renting from other companies with a debit card. But they make you jump through hoops, call utility companies to verify all the information is correct. I will never go with budget again.
We rented a very nice vehicle from here for our family vacation last week. The vehicle was ready, clean, and filled with gas before our arrival. It was a 2019 Excursion Limited with about 10,000 miles on it. Jennifer helped us reserve it a couple of weeks ago and had everything ready for us to inspect the vehicle, sign, and pay, after that we were off in about 15 minutes or so. They do have military discounts for those wondering. Thank you for the great service and great vehicle. We will be back as needed.

Would not recommend this place to anyone! Customer service agent was rude and not willing to work with us at all. We had a reservation for a pickup truck and when we went to get it we were told we couldnt have it because there were funds pending on our credit card. We reserved the truck for the next day and went back (after all funds had posted) to get it. Then were told we would have to wait 24 hours and it had only been 19 hours! He wanted to close at noon, so we had to forfeit the truck. It sat there all weekend not rented out to anyone. The agent was very short and abrupt and rude with us. I will never do business there again and feel sorry for anyone else who tries.
Ive always had a pleasant experience when using Budget Car Rental in Independence. The online reservation process is informative and simple and the rules and charges are clearly shows and easy to understand. the pick up process is simple and usually pretty quick depending on how busy they are at the time. the vehicles are always newer models that are very nice and have a lot of the add-on features that upgrade a standard model and they are always clean. their rates are typically a decent amount less than other similar rental options in the area and their charges and payment process/requirements are much simpler and more reasonable. Ive never had an unpleasant experience.

Wanted extremely high deposit for normal car and with reservations made days earlier and on a credit card and proper paperwork. I didnt want their insurance. I have full coverage and I have no tickets or accidents
I made a reservation for a vehicle and when I went to pick it up they would not let me because I had a balance on one of my utility bills. It was not a balance forward just my regular monthly bill. I showed them 2 bills for proof of address and that still wasnt good enough. This place is a joke. They literally make you jump through so many hoops thats unnecessary. Of course a recent bill is going to have a balance due thats why its a bill. All that should matter is that you have a valid drivers license, insurance and the money for the vehicle and the deposit
I went to pick up my compact car that I booked. I selected that particular class for gas economy. When I arrived to pick up my car they let me know they were upgrading me. I was then given a Large SUV. There goes fuel economy. When I asked if I can just cancel I was told no because it had to be prior to my rental date. So I would lose money. So after returning the car it ended up costing me $104 extra in gasoline. I will never rent from them again. They would not do anything to compensate me for it. I was extremely disappointed at their lack of care and understanding.

Great car, great price through partner. They are hard to reach after-hours and then kept adding charges on because the new employee couldnt figure out how to fix it, so theyd make an excuse I got a free upgrade I should be grateful they didnt charge me even more. Then they charged for chips in the glass even after I sent time-stamped photos showing they were there the day we got the car. I noticed about an hour after leaving and took pictures expecting they would pull some BS. Sure enough they called and asked so I offered to send proof they were there already. No one responded to the email or my calls so I disputed with my credit card, who paid even though this office continued to lie and claim I damaged the car.take pictures, never let them put a charge you didnt agree to, and ultimately use any other brand.

Had to rent a vehicle with little notice. They took care of us expeditiously, without surprises. Facility may not look like much from the outside, but ran top notch on the inside. Staff had clearly had a long day, but demonstrated outstanding drive to take care of the folks coming in Quite satisfied.
It is pitiful that budget can only hire low IQ managers and assistant managers to be the face of the company. We rented a vehicle and got there only to be told it would be over an hour before they can get the car there. All the customers that came in she was so hateful to and you could tell she enjoyed it. She was on a power trip that somehow made her feel important and all it did was make her look desperate to be a somebody. Customers should never endure this. It’s a sad situation at the Independence location.

We got in an accident and were looking for a long term rental with full insurance--not a cheap weekend rental by any means. It was a terrible experience. Booking the reservation was pointless, because its not guaranteed in any way shape or form. There were three people at the counter, and two of them didnt even know what they were doing (didnt know how to add a driver, etc.).The female manager at the time was very rude and unapologetic about the situation. They didnt even tell us when they WOULD have something available.UPDATE: I called Corporate as suggested--they dont care either. The agent I got just kept saying that reservations arent guaranteed. THEN WHATS THE POINT OF A RESERVATION?!? They said they can check other locations--well hopefully youre not checking on the same system I used to reserve because thats apparently useless. Plus, I now had no ride to visit the various locations.Then, I had to practically demand that a manager reach out to me, because their customer service was entirely dismissive (saying something to the effect of, Theyll reach out if they think they need to... I dont expect that theyll reach out or take any form of responsibility.I drove down the street to Enterprise. They werent able to help me right away, but they told me to come back at 2 PM. Also, their staff was dressed and behaved very professionally. I felt like I was in some sort of corporate office, with people who knew their job and did it efficiently. They made Budget look like some dollar rent a car company.Will update it I hear something further...
I just rented a truck over this pass weekend, book it online for $44 a day for 3 days the lady Jennifer take all my information down contact number and a back up number and also I called to exstend my rental on Saturday someone was supposed to up date my account when I took the truck back on today monday I was charged an extra $20 a day plus a $50 due to they said they sent out a demand letter I follow all the right things to do as a customer but I get hit with a $200 charge its not cool but I will not be back to this location and please customers stay away

For the 2nd time in a row Budget has failed to fulfill our reservation from 2 weeks out. They called to confirm our reservation the day before pick-up, when we got there to pickup the reserved vehicle we were told it was not available. Thanks Budget, this will not happen again.
Worst place ever to rent a car from. They only had one worker and a lobby full of customers. They were out of cars and my experience was terrible. Even if you have a credit card they are charging a deposit. There is no point in using a credit card. I don’t recommend this establishment at all!!
Horrible! There was a deposit fee that I was unaware of until I got to the counter to pay for the rental. Customer Service was also not good or accommodating. I will NOT consider nor recommend them in the future for car rentals.
Horrible location. The manager is very unprofessional. Charged me for a rental and said my card declined and sent a repo guy out to take the vehicle. She claimed she called me but that was a lie. I called my credit card company and they held an additional $150 on my CC card.....but they claimed it declined...... I will never go to this location again!!!!
I just wanted to say that I rented from this budget for the first time I normally use Enterprise and I have to say there was no problems my vehicle was ready the customer service for the exceptional. So Im not sure where all these complaints are coming from but I highly recommend this budget.
Best to go elsewhere. These folks have bumped back my reservations by several hours on a couple of occasions. Now I need to extend my rental and they dont answer the phone and have not called me back in over 24 hours.Just bad business.
Worst customer service of anywhere Ive been. The manager is rude and unprofessional. On the day that we went to return our vehicle they told us that is was not at clean as when we rented it so they directed us to a car wash a mile down the road. We went, cleaned it and tried to return it again just to be sent back twice. They wanted to charge a $350 cleaning fee and then after dealing with this for 2+ hours they charged us a fee for being late with the return because they consistently sent us to that car wash until we were late knowing that the vehicle could not have been any cleaner. Do not rent from this location or any rent a car outlet.

Good prices and good customer service. I was surprised about the trim level on the vehicle; I was expecting a base model vehicle but it was actually the top trim level that I received. My only complaint would be that the vehicle was pretty dirty inside and outside.
I wont never rent any cars at this company again. Today I have rented a Pick up truck to go out the town with my friends, when we were on our way, one of the tires explode for some reason. We tried to call all the number we could but they keep transfer my call to other. After 45 mins waiting, they said they will send people here to give a new car but we have to wait 1h30-2hrs. I received another call and one lady said the people who talked to me before gave her the wrong information (that 30mins ago) so they didn’t send anyone yet until now. That’s mean we wasted another 30 mins. The total time we have to wait was 3hrs. We were so mad but we in no choice. Then after 2 hrs we still didn’t see anyone comes to do anything for us. Imagine you have to sit in the car with 90 degree outside to waiting for nobody. I tried to call them back but they act like they don’t know anything and Even got attitude. They said if you don’t want to wait then just leave the car there. What is in the world? . Never again. The service is really really bad they don’t care for their customer. Really really bad service
HORRIBLE experience! I had a performance in another state and i was 7 HOURS LATE GETTING IN THE ROAD! I called the district manager from the location, for an exception so I could attempt to quickly get on the road. The district manager was willing to grant my request. When he asked to speak back to the manager, he told the location manager that he would grant my request, this little mean woman said, you realize she has been through this process already! She literally tried to stop us from going where we needed to go! JUST MEAN FOR NO REASON! I will not be back!!!!
Got to this location only to find that my reserved car wasn’t clean. I had to wait 45 minutes for The car to be cleaned, she said she didn’t offer me another car because of the level of car I had reserved but she should have still offered something different to avoid the time waited. Budget the corporate entity needs to do better because this location is making the company as a whole look very bad.
I called and reserved a truck on a Wednesday for pickup the following Monday. I went to pick up the truck only to find out that they didnt have one at that location even though I specifically verified on the phone with them twice that there would be a truck there. I was informed that they had one downtown and I could go there to pick it up; I rented the truck close to my house because I do not have time to drive downtown. The employee and manager were very rude. It all turned out alright because I ended up getting one at Enterprise for cheaper. Will not return to Budget ever again.

I had made online reservations for 9am, and got a confirmation e-mail from Budget. Showed up at 9:00 am and they said... Actually its going to be more like Noon. I told them it was unacceptable, and they said there was nothing they could do, because they didnt have ANY cars. Ridiculous. I told them to cancel the reservation, and that I wanted confirmation of such, and they said they couldnt do that. I better not have any charges on my card, or I will flip out!
Make sure you rent from the airport. Do not rent from this location. They are a franchise and if you change anything about your reservation they charge you .75 cent a mile upto $1500.00. I will never rent from Budget again. Should of never changed from Enterprise car rental. The customer service is horrible on the phone. The agents at the location are great but the agents that pick up the phone for this location example Lawerence Kansas and Utah are rude and have caused me to never rent from Budget again.
Love this branch! I have been coming here for years. The staff is friendly, store manager Kolbi is amazing!!! takes the time to explain things to you if you have any questions at all and make sure you are on your way. Absolutely love these ppl!!!!
The two girls were very unprofessional when I was making a reservation and picking up my car. They kept giving an excuse after excuse. I was unable to rent a car do to their false policies that arent recognized by the company. I was able to find what I needed at Avis during the holiday season and it was even at a better price. I would not go there.
I made my reservation online two weeks prior, received confirmation and was all set to move. However, upon my arrival to this abandoned gas station of a facility... I was asked well what time even was your reservation? My respond was polite, I simply stated that it was at 7:30am. As that is what my confirmation email stated. The woman promptly snapped back at me with a well we dont even do that till 8. You are just going to have to wait while I check in these five trucks. Then Ill have to figure out which one is yours. After a moment, she decided she ought to have me fill out the insurance information sheet and looked up my reservation. Her reaction immediately told me USE U-HAUL. She stated they just didnt have any car carriers and I asked if there was anyway she would mind to call another location to see if they could get one or I could pick it up there. And she said umm no. You are just going to have to call the online number. Its a real number. It actually works. Now, my disclaimer is that I am 100% sure this womans attitude is simply the product of a VERY poorly managed company. In reality, she probably is a nice person. I say this Bc of my experience with their telecommunications team. After calling, I was told that my issue would be escalated and the inventory management team would call in 15 min to 2 hours. Ill say that again for the kids in the back. 15 MINUTES TO 2 HOURS. I waited 35 minutes. At which point I decided to drive to the U-Haul facility down the road just to see if they could help as a back up. On the way budget called me back and stated that they didnt have the car transport on the ground in Kansas City at all, and wouldnt have one until 1pm and I would be required to pick it up in MERRIAM, KANSAS. I am moving to ST. LOUIS, MO. And have to be there by 5pm. At the very well maintained UHaul down the road, they were able to fix my issue in about 5 minutes and get me on the way to moving (truck, car transport and all!) in what would only be 30 minutes total. A task which could not be completed in the two weeks that I gave Budget.

I made a reservation through the website. When i arrived at the store my payment had already been processed. The attendant was on the phone belittling a customer about bringing back a van dirty, with other customers waiting that also over heard. She then assisted them through their insurance company on speaker so i heard all of their information. Finally it was my turn and when i explained that i was there to pick up she told me that 1 we are not doing same day bookings 2 she did not have a vehicle for me 3 i did not qualify for my rental as it was not done on a credit card. Again i say the money had already been removed from my account with a verification email. The worst service i have ever had in my life. I now am waiting 7-10 days for the refund and still not rental car.

Booked several days in advance, for rental pickup on Saturday 7/29/17 at noon, I called the day before at 430pm to confirm the reservation and vehicle availability, all was good, showed up a rental time and was astonished when I was told no vehicles were available I booked an midsize car and was offered a transit van at another location At an upcharge, no way this acceptable.Completely disappointed, horrible service.
We booked a standard SUV for a family trip approximately 2 weeks ago through our Costco membership. A CS rep called my husband yesterday to confirm our reservation. When we showed up today, we were told that they do not have an SUV in stock because the other renters did not return them and tried to push a minivan or a truck. We specifically rented an SUV because that is what we wanted!! We were made to feel as though we were being unreasonable with our request by the response from the CSR. She was rude, unapologetic, and even made it clear to her manager on the phone that “we did not accept her alternate vehicle options”. As if this was our fault??!! I worked for many years in customer service and this is the WORST! We felt like we were given the bait and switch tactic. Pay the extra money and go to Entetprise.
I have been renting cars for 40 years and this the worst possible. Complete incompitance among the staff. Facilities are filthy. Never have the car you reserved. Will not honor the price reserved online. Choose another Budget location.
I rented A minivan from them on July 14 and returned it on July 14 and they charged me for July 14 15th and 16th and put that I hadnt returned the Van until July 17 I got charged over $400 and was told I was only going to be charged $150 so I called them and they said it would be put back on my account for the over charge within 15 days it is now August 23 and now I have called them again and they are supposed to check into it and put it on my card I would recommend never renting from this place again I will make sure and tell all of my friends and family not to rent from this place
Had a rental time to pick up at noon on Saturday. Got there at noon and they were all gone. Nobody called to tell us. Very stressful situation! DONT USE THEM! Go somewhere else where they care about people.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a business! For one week I called and could never get a live person! I left voicemails that went unanswered! They showed the truck as not being returned for a week holding my deposit. Just got in touch with someone today who say it will be 5-10more days before I get it! What a mess!
It was terrible. They have some Stupid rules for car rental. And they dont care if you like them or not. NO MAJOR CREDIT CARD FORGET ABOUT RENTING FROM THEM. Oh they will take a debt card BUT ONLY IF YOU BRING EVERY UTILITIES BILL YOU HAVE FOR PROOF YOU PAY YOUR BILLS.VERY STRESSFUL EXPERIENCE.
HORRIBLE service And experienceThis was my first time using them. Most likely last. I paid a month and a half in advance. The week of my trip they called to confirm my reservation. Oddly the Lee’s Summit location called when I was booked for the Independence location. The representative confirming took down all my information including my change in pick up times due to a meeting. I was told all was okay. I was set. Two days later I arrive within their 2 hour window. I noticed other customers waiting seemed irritated but I thought I have a reservation so I should be good. NOPE. Turns out the representative who called did not save the notes. My reservation was given away. I listened the young man who was overwhelmed quote me policy on their two hour window at least 5 times. I informed him that I was within my window of what I confirmed just 2 days prior and as the customer this is not my fault for your companies poor customer service. He then went to help others as he had no solution. I had no ride since I had my co-worker drop me off. I was scheduled to leave town with a family the next morning. I sat for 2 hours till he found a better answer then quoting policy. He directed me to go to Lee’s Summit that they might have a mini van available. I asked him to call and confirm only to find they didn’t. Now why did I have to ask him to confirm before I was sent across town? Then he mentioned Olathe shows some. Once again can you call? Then had to remind him I have no car to get there. He goes to help another customer and they had to say no take care of her first. Sad! He calls and confirms they have one and gives me a rental to drive there. Finally getting some where. He then goes to go over accident stuff. I said if anything happens between here and Olathe it is on you. You’ve given me 50 minutes to get from Independence to Olathe. All because of your customer service error. I have to drive an hour and a half out of my way after a two hour wait. He never once apologized. Never said he understood why I was frustrated. He loves to quote policy when it does to pertain to the situation. I arrived at Olathe 1 minute before. The Manager there was AWESOME. Right off the bat he apologized. He called Independence before my arrival to see if he needed to wait because the guy there never called to tell him I was officially coming out. The Olathe Store Manager offered a refund back too. Now when the car was returned to Independence a different manager there also claimed she was doing a refund. As of today I don’t see ANY refunds at all from Budget. I was really disappointed in their customer service conflict resolution when this was all company fault. Heck telling me to bring the tank back empty would have at least showed your company values service. I will stick to enterprise.

Horrible customer service. The clerk had a very smart mouth and rude attitude. It seemed as if she was working against me getting a rental vs with me all because of a miscommunication on THEIR behalf. They took up a lot of my time causing me to be late for work & was not willing to accommodate me for their mistake or rent me the vehicle I had reserved. It was a HORRIBLE experience with no resolution for the customer. I went to Enterprise with NO reservations & they rented me a vehicle right away with a hassle free experience & Friendly Wonderful customer service!!
Employee took milliseconds of her time to tell me didnt have my reservation in system by name, nor after gave confirm email and number. Didnt even have a car on lot.I payed in full on budget website....6/24 thru 6/28 200+ dollars on debit card.Employee pushed policy paper of needing utility bill or similar plus ID. I said thats not the policy on website I read and acknowledged. Card you made purchase with and drivers license.I said its a moot point since you dont have my reservation nor a vehicle right?Employee went on about how I must have done it just an hour ago and that the website has you money not us????Employee didnt appear to want to be bothered with my business.She told me I should have called the number???I didnt have any questions at time of purchase so why would I?I left very irritated at this unbelievable experience.Customer care excuse....They have no control of additional policy at these independent owned sites, but said I was correct. I said you take my money in full, send a confirm yet no reservation in the system and no vehicle available. Then you tie up my money in a refund taking the next 3-7 business days?in end.....im out 6 hours of my timeim out 24 bucks for round trip ubermy money is unavailable for 3-7 business daysbecause of your broken system.I have no vehicle to drive while mine is in shop.Thanks for this Zero star Experience.
After spending all my cash for an uber to get there, 3 phone calls to customer service taking over 3hrs i set up a couple days i thought. Oh i was wrong the lady at the desk so rudly eating her lunch proceeded within the time i visited to say no to a dozen cards wating a bank account then informs me of a 300$ deposit and that her boss never considers comprimise and customer service so i cant help you was her only motto. I had to come up with a way out out of there. No offer of water nor reseloution or apology of inconvience. Im still fighting charges for the prepaid insurace i got and not using. Dont try corporate they are a call center turns outnin another far away land who has no say with their franchises

Made a reservation. Got there was told nothing would be available that day at all. The lady behind the counter was rude, then a second lady came out and was even more rude than the first. When I asked why do they make reservations online then when you get there you have no vehicle her response was so we have to deal with customers like you and they dont. I never cussed or was rude just very frustrated which is understandablely so considering I had no car.
PRO: They were prompt and had a car ready when we went to pick it up. When they did not have the car we reserved (a month in advance!), they upgraded us for free. Their punctuality saved them from a one-star.CON: We reserved the compact car (Fiat 500) a month ahead of time and they did not have it when we picked up. We wanted the compact because it was cheaper and gets much better fuel mileage. They upgraded us to this gas-sucking tank car instead. The Fiat would have gotten 40mpg and the best the tank did was 21mpg. We ended up spending twice as much on gas as we had planned. When we complained about this when we dropped their tank off--lesson learned, complain as soon as they mess up--they gave us this bullcrap story about how the Fiat would have gotten just as bad of mileage because its smaller engine would run at higher RPMs at highway speed. From experience, I know this is bologna.. I drive a Yaris regularly at 75MPH and the worst Ive gotten is 35mpg in the city. On the highway, at an average speed of 72MPH, Ive hit 43mpg.I have rarely felt so insulted. A simple apology would have been better. They didnt even offer to reimburse some of the money we had gouged from us at the gas pump.NOTE: This is a review of the Independence franchise. Corporate was much more gracious to us on the phone. Budget seems like a good company, but this particular franchise will screw you. Stay away.

Rented a vehicle on last Wednesday to only NOT have a vehicle on hand for us. Then was told to drive another vehicle out to Olathe to switch out for what we reserved. Poor communication, very unorganized & no one knows what theyre doing

I live in California and was visiting family for the weekend. My husband and I had booked a car on there website three weeks in advance. When I arrived they had NO cars. How can a place that allows you to book a car online have NO cars available! The girl behind the counter was extremely rude and refused to help us find a car at a different location.
Because my car was not checked in correctly by an employee, I had surprises hit my bank account a week and more later. Super frustrating. Of course with several hours of waiting on hold and reiterating the same thing, it was fixed. The location was at fault, not Budget, as a whole, however, which is much more helpful!
