Absolutely phenomenal customer service!! I was recommended this place by a friend who was impressed with them and I agree with him. They let me try out sleeping bags, shoes, clothing, and answered my various questions that I had about gear. This place definitely is worth your time and consideration :)

These guys are awesome. I usually have a difficult time making choices between similar items. But the staff here is super patient, informative, and very low-pressure. Once I did make a choice, we discovered that a specific color I wanted was out of stock, so they ordered it in and it arrived remarkably fast! Not to mention this place is such an local fixture, they have been serving the area for decades. Keep it up IMT!!

When it comes to outdoor sports in Idaho I always look to Idaho Mountain Trading for my outdoor needs!!! Their staff is extremely courteous, kind and helpful. They carry mid to high end stuff, no junk! Ive bought many things over the years and have always walked away happy! I always want to love this store. My husband and I are definitely label snobs when it comes to outdoor gear. Unfortunately, every time I come in to this store I am disappointed. Maybe I dont have the right look, or maybe I dont look like I have money to spend there...but I am usually ignored or at the most, helped reluctantly.My worst experience there was when I popped in to buy a tent on my way to camping. Yes, I should probably have thought more ahead, but my two kids were using the two tents that we did have and I didt even think about it until packing. So, after looking at their meager offerings at the end of September, I buy this tent that is on display. No mark down, no sale price. I asked if everything was in the bag (he had taken the display in the back and brought out a bag) and I was assured it was. So, I get to my campsite and discover that there are TWO tents in the bag and no stakes. Good times. So, after using that tent, I came back in to the store to give them back THEIR tent (the second one that was in the bag- this was like a $350 tent, btw). There was no thank you. There was no gift certificate offered for my inconvenience and to top it all off, I still dont have the stakes that were supposed to come with it! Very frustrating.

Idaho Mountain Trading exceeded my expectations. I was looking for new bindings and boots for my snowboard and Jon helped me find the perfect fit. They know their stuff when it comes to winter sports and gear. Definitely will be going back when I need gear.

I have shopped at this store off and on throughout the years. It is nice to have a local store for outdoor goods but it is really hard to convince myself to support them when it seems that everything they have is very expensive. I understand that they want to carry high quality goods but it seems like they are tailored more toward the elite outdoors folks and not for your run of the mill family.Additional evidence that they dont really plan for people with young kids or large families is with my most recent interaction with them. I called on Saturday to try to reserve some snowshoes for a family outing. They told me that they dont do reservations for the next week. They only allow you to start reserving for the week on Monday. So I asked if I could just come in on Monday and rent the snow shoes I needed. They assured me that wouldnt be a problem. I came in right when they opened on Monday morning and asked for two adult pairs and four kids pairs. The first person I talked with told me that they only had one kids pair available and that we would have to try for later in the week in order to get what I needed. So I left the store to figure out what would work and came back in. At this point there was a line of people. So I waited to get to the front of the line and asked a different employee to reserve the snowshoes for later in the week. He first told me that he wasnt sure what they would have available because all of their reservations were catalogued on paper in a box. It surprised me that they didnt have a digitized system of any sort. The employee pointed to the rest of the line and indicated that he couldnt take the time to look through the box because of all of the other customers. I was surprised by this lack of customer service. He then asked how many we needed and I told him. Then he informed me that they only have two pairs of kids sized snowshoes available for rental so they wouldnt even be able to give us what we needed even if all of the rentals had been returned. I am not sure about their other rental gear but at least for snowshoes they are not equipped to serve larger families.

With bike shortages, Grayson was still able to help me find the perfect bike for me! Great customer service, very knowledgeable as well. Noticed and greeted me as soon as I walked in! Very impressed! Definitely going back next month and hopefully I can find and get my wife one 🤞🏾

I love these guys! Idaho is the greatest outdoor state, so getting the right equipment is so important to me. Every time I go in, they have exactly what I need for whatever activity, and they carry the best quality gear. They also have a great staff who have experience with the gear and nearby activities. The perfect outdoor store for my outdoor needs.

I have shopped Idaho mountain trading for probably close to 35 years. They are always kind, helpful and knowledgeable. In November, I purchased 2 pairs of cross country skis at the IF ski club ski swap and one of the workers said the one pair would need professionally waxed. So Monday I took them to IMT. When I showed them to Jake he informed I had been ripped off. They were completely obsolete and would have to be stripped, waxed, and then I would have to purchase 3 temperatures of wax and even then it was iffy. I told him I purchased another pair of skis with two boots. He said to bring them in and he would check them out. I did, and he gave a very thorough explanation as to why these would work, and I left knowing a lot more about Nordic skiing. I was so impressed, I went back and bought snow shoes for my son, which again, Jake really knew his stuff.In the past, I would also frequent some of the “chain” outfitters. I have decided that even if it costs me a little extra, I’m sticking with Idaho Mountain Trading. They have never steered me wrong.

However, every single store here in Utah was out of a certain product that I was trying to find. The owner of Idaho Mtn Trading was able to special order this product for me and shipped it. This place is awesome! Came in looking for a Trek Marlin 5 and they had one for me to try out on display. It wasn’t the color I wanted and Dan went and looked for the color I was hoping for and they had one in box downstairs! They had it built and ready for me in a couple hours and I’m now a happy owner of a new mountain bike. Dan and the other staff did a wonderful job of helping me with anything I need, even installing the water bottle cage I bought separately. Special thanks to Jake for doing such a good job on putting the bike together! I’ll definitely be coming here for all my bike and other outdoor sport needs. Thanks guys!

We have always come here for our equipment because they really do have the most selection in the area. I just had two pair of skis waxed for my sons. When we got home my sons showed me several deep scratches on the tops of the skis that were not there before. I cant believe the condition they came back in. I will not be returning to this store and would warn people of leaving their equipment there.

Best local Climbing, Biking,and Skiing store in town!

I came to get new bindings and boots for a board I had bought secondhand. Gavin was very helpful. He helped me find great boots for my son and even helped me figure out how to fix the existing bindings so I ended up saving some money! I ended up buying a used snowboard from the store for a great price. Gavin even helped me carry all the goods out to my car and told me where I needed to go to get a certain screw I needed to fix the bindings. Very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Very good experience!

Idaho Mountain Trading has been equipping myself and family since I was in elementary school, and now they outfit my kids. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products and can point you in the right direction. More importantly, the staff provides excellent service. They truly love what they do and is shows in the way the treat customers. The gear is top notch, people are top notch, no reason to look anywhere else.

Flew into town and rented snowshoes and bought gear from Idaho Mountain Trading before making a winter ascent of Mt. Borah. This is a great company with excellent service. They had everything I needed and were excellent to work with, especially the general manager! They will remain my go-to shop for all my outfitting needs.

Went in a while ago and was kicked out by an older gentleman with glasses for asking if they price matched Chaco sandals. I was speechless (not to mention upset and embarrassed ) as I was escorted out. Strangest thing that’s ever happened to me.

This place is highway robbery. Quoted me $80 to mount a pair of my old skis. I was not about to pay that to have a couple holes drilled in my skis so I looked for another solution. A friend showed me how I could print a paper jig online and did it myself for a total of $2.78 to buy some epoxy. Also once quoted me $150 to have my wife fitted for ski boots. Also mounted one of my friends skis backwards once. Would not recommend.

I had a gift card here and was excited to experience IMT. But very soon I realized they are the monopoly of Idaho Falls. Being the only main ski/sport store, they apparently think it is fine to treat their customers very poorly. We were ordering some skis and had some questions and they never called us back and rushed us off the phone every time. We went in the store and the owners/managers never gave us the respect to even listen to our situation. Order online or drive to Utah. I promise you will have a much better experience with people who actually know how to treat their customers.

Prices are OK. No great bargains, but theyre about the same price as you will find anywhere else that sells this type of stuff. I did see some good sales on a few Canondales once. But the thing that makes this place really great is their customer service and their repair shop. They have great people who really care about their customers and they do really good work in the repair shop.

Good service and high quality products. Theyre not cheap, but thats because they dont have any cheap stuff. If you catch my meaning.

I can hardly put into words how great this place is. The people are SO friendly. Its almost unbelievable. They are invested in you, invested in your gear, and invested in your adventure plans. I brought 6 people in from SLC and everyone was blown away by the superb customer service. We joke that in REI you have to go on a quest to find an employee but at this store the employees are always around and willing to help. Overall an amazing place. You may save a few pennies scouring the internet for the best outdoor gear deals. What you wont find online is a knowledgeable staff that uses the gear themselves. They have first hand info on all the latest and greatest. The after purchase service is top notch. Any question or warranty issues I have had on product has been handled immediately and attentively. Spend your money locally and you will not be disappointed. There is a reason this store is still in business!

I love all of the staff here. They are kind and helpful. But the female manager(?) with brown hair is one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. 2 yrs ago my husband and I went to purchase a bike. He was going to even pay in cash. The woman was so rude when we were looking at the bikes that I was almost ready to leave. She seemed even shocked that we were ready to buy. After that she was nicer but annoying. Since then, every time I see this woman, shes unprofessional, doesnt want to help us in our needs and talks down to us. I suspect that because we dont look like typical IMT customers is why she acts this way towards us.

Came in and was wanting to buy a $500.00 sleeping bag and the manager Davin was very friendly and helpful. However after 5 mins of chatting with I am guessing the owner. came and said I have to cut you off he looked at me like I was doing something wrong. I was surprised like i had done something wrong. Davin came back a min later and the same guy comes out and says it again. I have to cut you off I was a bit stunned. I do not believe I have ever been treated with such disrespect. Not only do I work in the outdoor industry as an author and write gear reviews for many companies. I was simply a customer wanting to know more about the store. I highly recommend this company fixes its customer service. Other companies deserve the business and will treat others with respect. That being said I took nearly $750 dollars of business to Cabelas where I was treated with respect. Disappointing

This is my favorite store to shop at in all of Idaho Falls. I look for excuses to drop in. Not only do they have great gear, they have the one thing missing from so many other shopping experiences: knowledgeable sales staff who actually use the gear they sell. Service experience has been top notch for me on ski equipment as well. Yes youre going to pay a bit more, but they will get you in the right gear the first time and easily take care of warranty issues making it worth it to me.

These guys know their gear. From rock climbing to camping, biking or skiing they have taken great care of our adventurous family. In fact, most of the technical gear we have on our 50 states in 50 weeks trip was purchased from Idaho Mountain Trading.

Amazing service. My water pump broke a seal on a backpacking trip. These guys took care of the warranty stuff and I had a new pump. They have great gear as well.

Im often ready for a repair shop (auto, electronics, etc) to get money out of me whether a project is totally necessary or not. Very awesome to have the shopguy here go, hang on, stop filling out that paperwork before making a quick, easy tweak to my daughters bike shifter and rolling it right back to me, no charge.

Called ahead to make sure they had what I needed and they did. Ran after work from Rexburg as fast as I could since theyre never open. Got there and nobody in the board shop knew what we were talking about and looked at us like we were stupid. Granted they were busy, but the guy told us he didnt have time to help us after I had driven 30 minutes and called ahead. Thanks for the crappy service. Take your service somewhere else or even go online. Awful customer service. We were patient and could have waited, but they couldnt be bothered.

Everyone in the store very friendly knowledgable and helpful. First time snow skiing and gave helpful hints and tips on what to do. Rental process was very easy. $36 for weekend rental this included skis poles and boots. They do not rent helments but was able to rent at the slopes. I feel like a kid in a candy shop everytime I go in. All sorts of outdoor gear from shoes, climbing gear, bikes and accessories for all types of outdoor activities.

Two stars cause I shouldnt need to bring in my board to see if you have replacement parts for bindings and I dont need the attitude that came with it.

My wife and I wanted some bikes, and we dont know much about them. We shopped around Idaho Falls and Rexburg. Of all the shops and stores where we went, Idaho Mountain Trading was the best. They had the best prices, and the prices were clearly labeled, unlike many of the other places where we went. They even have a deal if you purchase 2 bikes, another plus that we didnt find anywhere else. To top it all off, we were given about $50 worth of accessory money that we could spend at the store on bike stuff. We didnt know what wed need yet, so the $ just stays as a store credit and we can use it at any time. The person that helped us was Lynn (I hope I spelled that correctly). She was stellar, and she provided top notch customer service, spending almost an hour with us in total, instructing us on various positive and negative aspects of various bike models and brands, while letting us ride all of them outside. Great overall experience, well return and recommend Idaho Mountain Trading to our friends and family. Thank you.

My husband and I had our bikes fit by Davin and I cant say enough good things about him and the fitting. He cured my cranky knee problem and my numb foot. He was both exceptionally knowledgeable and precise. When in IF, I will make an effort to support this store for future purchases.
