Majority of receptionists lack compassion or care, and all they care about is money. Continuing with them for psychiatry was a terrible mistake; one would assume that a business that works with patients who NEED HELP would be more willing to offer that help when necessary, and yet they cant even do that. Had an incredibly stressful experience with one of the staff a few months ago who kept saying nothing can be done and was being very unprofessional -- called back a day later, spoke with different staff, and turns out I was being lied to. Its all about the bottom line here, its not worth your money.EDIT: Reading other reviews, I agree that this place is TERRIBLE for patients who genuinely need the help. Any mental health place who cant extend even a little bit of compassion or understanding toward patients who may have difficulty advocating for themselves doesnt care for their patients at all. They only care about your wallet.
I had a very unfortunate experience with Anew Era TMS and after speaking with their CEO Suzanne Jesse for all of the 10 minutes she gave me because she had to run to another call, it is apparent that this health provider values quantity of new patients over actually providing quality care. After my last tele-health call on Zoom on 9/920, the receptionist team never called me to schedule a follow up or to check on the medication. I decided to give Anew Era TMS a call on 10/15 to check on the status of my medication, which I missed 2 days of because the prescriptions were not ready at my pharmacy. When I made the call and to my surprise, I was told my psychiatrist was leaving the practice all together at the end of month. Heres the issue I tried explaining to the 1) receptionist, 2) office Director Angie and 3) CEO Suzanne Jesse that: In order to avoid allegations of patient abandonment (unprofessional conduct) according to the California Medical Board, a physician should notify patients of the following in writing when the physician wishes to discontinue care, including the last day the physician will be available to render medical care, assuring the patient has been provided at least 15 days of emergency treatment and prescriptions before discontinuing the physicians availability. This was not the case in my situation as there was zero follow up regarding my health or the notice that my psychiatrist was leaving. I was told by the CEO Suzanne that it was my responsibility to make the call and to follow up, which is exactly what I was doing by calling Anew Era to figure out what happened in this scenario. Instead of Suzanne taking responsibility for scheduling miscommunications and not timely alerting their clients that a practitioner was leaving, she refocused the blame around my inaction to follow up a call from their receptionist team that never actually took place! I understand that I must follow up with my own health care, that is the nature of health care in the United States! However, she ignored my specific concerns regarding issues of clear evidence of patient abandonment as laid out by the California Medical Board.I tried asking a few questions that would really help me clear up my confusion, but unfortunately was not given any clear answers. These questions include:1. What is Anew Era TMS physician to patient ratio? (I was told by the office manager Angie that the receptionists were unable to give me more than one follow up call [which never took place] because there are so many patients to keep track of and that its incumbent of the patient to reach out. I understand that to be the case, but only when the health care provider first attempts to reach the patient at least once, which did not occur in my situation. Anew Era TMS also has my email address because I had sent in paperwork via email in the past, but I was alerted by Suzanne (the CEO) that the company does not have the capability/software to reach out to patients in an efficient means by email.)2. What is Anew Era TMS standard operating procedure for reaching out to patients they have not heard from in more than 30 days? Is it standard procedure to only call a patient once even thought they have lapsed on medications/prescriptions?3. What is Anew Era TMS standard operating procedure for alerting your clients that a physician/service provider is leaving the practice? I was initially told Anew Era TMS sends out letters to the patients. I asked when these letters were supposed to be sent out?It was only when I called and I scheduled for an appointment on 11/4 with an entirely new psychiatrist that Anew Era TMS filled my prescriptions. Not everyone struggling with mental health challenges has the means to advocate for themselves and this experience leaves me very worried for other patients at this practice that also must advocate for themselves in order to stay medication compliant and receive their medications in a timely manner.
My experience would have been 5 stars, had it not been for the financial handling of my case. The TMS Treatments have seemed to work for me. Stacy, my technician, was an absolutely wonderful person, very knowledgeable, professional, caring. She did a great job.I had a total of 28 treatments, before the financial demands caused me to have no choice but to stop treatment. The 28 took place last year, when my deductible and co pays were already met, so there were no charges to me. (Thank you God. )Then, at the beginning of the year, A New Era refused to do any further treatments for me unless I paid in full for the last nine treatments. (My Insurance approved 37 treatments for me,) and originally, everyone at A New Era strongly recommended that I completely ALL 37 treatments in succession, to assure the best possible outcome for me.The cost for the 9 remaining treatments, which included my deductible plus co pays, would come to approximately $1700.I DO NOT HAVE THIS KIND OF MONEY TO PAY UP FRONT. My husband begged them to still take me, allow us to make payments, take them automatically every two weeks from his paycheck, and they refused. My husband has watched me want to die, want to commit suicide, have no energy whatsoever, be hospitalized 6 times in 2019, and then witnessed a miraculous change in me in the TMS treatments. I no longer want to die. My energy has started to increase. He and I, and my entire family are so concerned about my condition going backwards now that I cannot get the balance of my recommended treatments. We even talked to the CEO of A New Era, Suzanne J. She was very cold and very clear that the MONEY is much more important to her than the helping of people in severe depression. My husband literally begged her to not stop the recommended treatments. She did not and does not, care. The best she would offer is a 3 minute treatment, for $75 per treatment, that is NOT covered by insurance and is considered maintenance. Every other Medical facility I have been to, including Placentia Linda Hospital, UCI, and others, are ALL accepting monthly payments from me.A New Era is based on greed and money making. Very unfortunate for people who just cant come up with large amounts of money to continue treatment.
I would never listen to just one review, but please take the time to read this. Your health and life may depend on it. You can also see the many other 1 star reviews. Take these seriously. Its taken 1 1/2 years to finally leave a review. I would suggest going to a more well known facility that is interconnected with a hospital. This is a business and its run like one. -Money motivated. Maybe this treatment works for some, but if youre one of the few that can experience poor outcomes, and there are many, this isnt the place for you. They dont have the resources or care to deal with you if you require help other than what theyre willing to give you, which in my case was near nothing during/post treatment.I had treatment at this location almost 2 years ago. Dr. Pandimi who is still there is incompetent. They will cycle you through antidepressants so your insurance will get to the point where they will cover you. Most insurances require you to try multiple antidepressants before they will cover the TMS treatment. Suzanne, who is the owner, was present when Dr. Pandimi told me I could just stop/cold turkey my Lexapro that I had been on for 15 years if it wasnt working. Worst mistake of my life. Both my wife and my therapist advised me against stopping it, but I wanted to believe. Suzanne even gave me a sample pack of Latuda so I could say I tried it. Its for bipolar..... I suffered from PTSD/Depression. Why was I given Latuda? I should have not continued, but I did. I immediately began to have headaches and severe eye and jaw pressure during the treatment. It hurt really bad and continued to get worse throughout the treatment. When I asked to speak to Suzanne about it she said that I might just be having sinus problems and that there were no reports of side effects like I was reporting. I added on about another 10 treatments at the end because I was still given hope that more sessions might do it. I became much worse than when I started. They said some people add on treatments because they need more to get the results. I spoke to Suzanne one last time on the phone. She knew why I was calling. She sounded in a hurry and had little time for me.- Acted like someone was calling her and she had to go. I was asking to speak to someone there (psych) about what I was going through and that I needed help. Suzanne ended with, There are no reports of the side effects youre saying you have. You should go talk to someone about your trauma. Now that my sessions were over it felt she had no need for me..... no resources, no referrals. The next 6 months were some of the worst of my life. The headaches and jaw pain have continued to this day. Ive watched since my treatment ended how their rating has gone down...... I thought it might. Im not alone.Check your options out. There are plenty of other facilities that do this. Facilities that are better able to care for their clients. That said, Denise, was my saving Grace.I have since found a great psychiatrist who knows about TMS and says that I never should have done it. She said she would have stopped the treatment immediately as the pain I was experiencing would not permit me to be a good candidate for this treatment. The severe headaches and pain in my head/jaw/behind my eyes continues to this day 1 1/2 years later... I never had any of these problems before.
Absolute mismanagement never use this facility if you truly care for your own mental health. I established with a NP who the facility knew was leaving for another practice the next day. They then switched me over to a new NP for my next appointment. He didn’t even ask any questions himself about my situation. He just took the notes the previous NP took and went with it. Allowed me to convince him to increase my dose without so much as considering what an SSRI can do to somebody who is bipolar. They’ve sent me into a manic maze through improper medication management. Allowed me to run out of medication 3 days ago now. I’ve called there office 3 times over the past week trying to inform them I would be running out soon. No call back, not so much as a voicemail. “We don’t have any records of you calling” I’ve literally sat down with family members while attempting to call them and leaving voicemails. If I was not taking care of myself appropriately this facility could have got me killed. It would have not been a suicide but a murder because of mismanagement of treatment. Think about that before calling or stepping foot in this facility. All they care about is money and try to Pawn off their TMS therapy to you. They could care less about proven and tested therapies like proper medication management. Finally got them to call back after 15 minutes because I left a stern voicemail stating I wouldn’t be using their facilities anymore. Imagine that, I get a call back within 15 mins. They care about the potential of lost profit but not proper treatment. I am now going through different providers who have been nothing but understanding and professional. Will be telling all medical professionals whom I’ll be under the care of (as a result of this fiasco) to 86 this facility from their recommendations and updating them on my terribly dangerous experiment they’ve been running on my brain and health.
I havent even had my appointment yet, but the people that Ive spoken to thus far have said contradicting things.1st. When I was in the process of making my appointment, in my opinion, I felt the receptionist taking my info was rude and pushy. I had asked if they could reach out to me the following business day due to I was getting ready for work. She had given a reason as to why they couldnt, so wanting to take my mental health seriously I continued talking to her to set up my appointment. When we were basically done and almost about to hang out she told me that I needed to give her my credit card info or they would delete my appointment within the next 24 hours. I told her I needed to go because I needed to leave on time to go to work and asked if I could just do that online with the electronic new patient forms. She replied yes, and then we hung up. Upon going on the patient portal there was no entirely clear way of adding my info online via cellphone, I emailed the help desk and got a response saying I couldnt enter my card info online to save my appointment.2. We had also from my knowledge confirmed and spoke about my appointment times, one was a consultation for TMS and the one that immediately followed would be my actual appointment. I got a text message yesterday confirming my appointments, but one of them was not at the time we discussed, while the other one was still the same. So now I either have to cancel the first one or be inconvenienced by waiting 4 hours in between the appointments. I live in Garden Grove, towards the boundaries of the city of Orange, while the office is in Huntington Beach near Bella Terra. If the appointment time for one of them was changed it should have been communicated to be prior to 2 days of the appointment when I had made it a month ago. Will update post after appointment.
Great people very compassionate very professional.
