Driven by this place often, decided to try it. Got the sliced brisket. Meat was very good. Did not like the sauce, personal taste, seemed very sweat. Tried again and got the burger ...it was very good. Service was good. Not going to bend over backwards but got the order right, timely and a thank you.. Figure I will go back and try other things.

I got some frozen ostrich filet meat from them Im excited to see how they taste. Very great place to go to get exotic meats if you like something different .

People have been telling me about this place for years .... Well, finally stopped by and had lunch . Really good food here ! With the huge selection of fresh meat as well, I bought some steaks on the way out . I will be coming back many times going forward . Yall gonna have to come here, Come get some !!

We came to Petes to try out some exotic meats. Michael and Linda are Fantastic! Great suggestions and tips on how to cook what we bought. The deli was great too. We had to get a snack! The gentleman at the deli was super nice! The staff made is feel like family. Will be back for sure!

Ive only used Petes Fine Meats for dear processing once, and it was this season (2020). I brought 6 dear to them and had it processed into a various assortment of their offerings. One of the items I ordered was the venison tamales, of which I ordered 10 dozen. When my order was ready for pick up they had made 100 dozen tamales. The owner, Mike I think, said it was a mistake and that I could buy the tamales for around $400. I didnt want the tamales, not 90 dozen extra. And I didnt want to pay $400 for something I didnt order. What I really wanted was meat back, of which about 8 lbs. went into these extra tamales. He said he would give me 8 lbs. of Axis meat to make up for it and that he would just sell the extra 90 dozen tamales because according to Mike, theyre one of my top sellers. Well, I didnt get any Axis meat. How do I know? All of my ground meat was on the bottom of the box. You would expect the 8 lbs. of Axis on the very top right? Like did they unload the box to add the Axis to the bottom and then add everything back...no. So, they screwed up my order, wasted my meat, didnt refund me for the meat, didnt replace the meat, and to top it all off they sold my meat in the form of 90 dozen tamales to the general public. I spend over $1,200 on this stuff and I expected much more. Ill never go back for anything.

I am not aware of a butcher shop in Houston with a more extensive meat selection than this place. They are friendly, very knowledgeable, and have a selection 2nd to none. They also carry all of the sausages a wild game grill that used to be opened in Houston served which were all amazing. This is a truly unique butcher shop ran with great staff and amazing hospitality. I love this place and hope this review will get you to go and take a chance to fall in love with them too.

This place is right around the corner from my apartment. I’ve lived here for almost 5 months and just tried this place for the first time yesterday. Shame on me this place is awesome! Huge selection of really nice cuts of meat the ribeyes look amazing! My girlfriend and I ate lunch here and it was fresh and delicious very fast service too even during lunch rush! I ordered the Buffalo Burger and my gf had the sliced brisket sandwich (which I ate half of….lol). Both were delicious! Can’t wait to try everything else on the menu!

Pete’s Fine Meats & Deli has got a wonderful selection of meats. It’s one of the few places in town I can find a good shoulder roast (grocery stores never have it or don’t know what I’m talking about). The staff is very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. I haven’t tried the prepared foods in the deli section, but it always smells delicious. While there are closer places to my house to buy meat, I’d rather drive a little further and get exactly what I want. That’s why I go to Pete’s!

One of the best hidden gems in Houston. A classic Texan meat shop where you can find the best and most exotic type of meats. And the good part is they prepare the best buffalo burgers in town!The local made jerky, cheese stake sandwich & ribs are out of this world, you will never get board of the food in here. And to end it the perfect way, try the home made cookies.Owner here is so down to earth and very generous. Its a must go to place for a good local food.

Food was good. Lettuce was brown that was served and tables and chairs were not cleaned. It was not busy. It was cold where we were sitting ad well.

I live in Pittsburgh and came to Houston to find Petes Fine Meats. And I was BEYOND impressed! Michael was an incredible human being. So kind, and incredibly helpful. He made us feel welcome. Next time Im in Texas Im going back even if I have to crawl on my hands and knees. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Just had the most wonderful experience ! We were visiting from out of town trying to find rattlesnake meat for a true Texas experience. They were sold out of rattlesnake so Michael sent us off with some free samples and the kindest customer service ive ever encountered. Also the best cookies Ive ever had. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. Amazing people, amazing service, amazing quality. We will be back!

Best Hamburgers EVER! The hamburgers here are the absolute best burgers. Try the Buffalo burger, and no folks it is not a Chicken Buffalo, I mean real 🐃 if you have room for fries order just 1 order of steak fries. Big enough to feed 3. If your into fine cuts of meat, Petes is where you need to go.

My family and I really love eating at Petes! They have great food that is prepared right when you order and is always very delicious. They have a great menu with burgers and bbq and other selections as well as some great desserts ( especially the fresh baked cookies). They alao have a large selection of meats and deli items to choose from to take home. The employees are very friendly and helpful and the owner is awesome! This is our go to spot on the weekends.

Came in for the alligator meat. Ended up buying turtle meat. They got a good variety and I asked the owner how much the gator patty’s cost and he offered to cook a burger for my lady and I to try it before buying the whole patty package. Owner is nice, the burgers were super delicious, and there deviled eggs and jalapeños were awesome as well. Would recommend this place to anyone. Will be coming back to try there other burgers.

Best meat in Houston. I used to go to B&W in the heights, but now this is my go to place. Steak, sausage, deviled eggs and the best bacon wrapped quail I’ve ever had. Also, you have to try the cookies. So good!

Fine is an understatement. This butcher / meat shop has the good dead flesh for your carnivores at home. Great quality.I would suggest you go at lunchtime and enjoy a burger while you’re there. They’re tasty and well done.

I called from Florida because I saw that he work more than 50 years, has especial meat cuts and good reviews. Talk to the person in charge (owner) and order of 45 pounds of meat for the next day Friday 23, August that was traveling there.But how amazing, he wanted to sell me a quality of meat that was not what I had asked for. I told him that I also work with meat for more than 25 years.I asked him for a cut of Angus Beef that is of Choice quality grade and he wanted to sell me a different one of lower quality grade Select at the same price and that was not Angus Beef. And the worst thing he wanted to convince me was true. Then he also wanted to charge a Rib Short Rib cut cuted worth around 6 to 9 dollars at 15 dollars.I think what he wanted to do was not right.The worst of all was not only what he did, I told him it was for my sons birthday on Saturday 24 and that we were doing a SURPRISE with my family that we were traveling from Mexico, Georgia and Florida.The grill I had to prepare was for more than 35 people and that quality of Angus Choice meat grade is not sold everywhere.He make me sure he had all the meat and asked me in advance for the card details I gave him for pay.I LEAVE ME WITHOUT THE MEAT

Ok so i spent 200.00 on ribs 3 days ago and went to cook them today and they smelled horrible! I dont even know how to describe it it was so bad. I figured i left them in the fridge too long so i threw them out and went back today and got more but as Im cooking them now they smell the same. I think they just let it spoil and sold it anyways! Check your meat before you leave!

I ordered this pork crown roast last year that comes seasoned by their in house seasoning. We stuffed ours with a sausage stuffing and it turned out amazing. It was so good, its now a tradition in our family. Calling today to order mine for next weekend. Make sure you call ahead a few days when ordering yours.

All I can say is Wow. Pete is a very nice person. He has the best cuts of meat and next time Im going to try his sandwiches in the deli side. Thank you very much.

Once again, I slowly push myself away from the table, having just eaten some of the best meat I have ever tasted, aged prime rib from Petes Fine Meats. For years we have bought meat for special occasions from Petes, and we have never been disappointed. This time, we bought a six rib bone in prime rib that we literally cut with a butter knife - we did not even set steak knives on the table. It was worth every penny. We will continue to purchase meats for special occasions from Petes Fine Meats.

Employees are very friendly, and they are patient to explain and select the perfect meat with you. It is pricey, but you are deserved for what you are paying for. You cant compare the quality of regular supermarket. They are selling for Prime Level!

This place ROCKS!!! They hand cut filets for me and then gave several recommendations afterwards. This is a straight up real deal butcher store with top end meats. Glad I went and will go back for sureI am glad there are still places like this

The meat, store, deli and everything is awesome. the only real issue here is when theyre busy the staff gets a bit moody and the customer service kind of sticks. theyre very short with you and rush you out of the line.

I wish i had a picture of my burger!!! This is one of the best burgers I have eaten in pretty good while and its not tooo pricey!! The burger was humongous and tasted delish!! the atmosphere is really laid back like an old school mom and pops restaurant (which it is). They have more than just hamburgers and it is well worth every penny!!!

It took me one visit to convince myself to stop buying supermarket meat. I asked for eye of round, they brought out what can only be described as a giant chunk of animal and made the cut right in front of me. Ive never seen meat so fresh and so juicy, so much so Ive sworn off supermarket meat to buy here.And their cookies are unbelievable too.

Im all the way out on this place. I left 1 star, but only because 0 stars is not an option. I brought venison to be processed. They were incredibly rude when I was placing my order, to the point that it felt like I was being rushed out of there. I was told it would be ready in less than two weeks. I called to check the status on the Monday after the two weeks were up (so after more than two weeks). The guy on the phone said, Were too busy to deal with that right now, call on Friday, and then he hung up. I have never left a review for anything before - positive or negative - but my experience with this place has been so infuriating that I felt like I needed to share. And I still dont have my venison.

Overpriced...Petes actually has a fairly decent selection of quality meats and offbeat culinary products. However, I can get the same products, and occasionally superior, at better prices in a number of places around Houston.Overall it really does seem as though this meat market is overpriced for what its offering.Further, having tried the onsite cafe for some lunch, I failed to be impressed. The meat was on the dry side, and overall the offerings were decidedly average.Not coming back here in a hurry...

Feels like a real meat market. None of that chic boutique crap people expect. Tons of variety. The guy threw in extra deer sausage for free. Great flavors and they tell you the best cooking method for each thing you buy.

Place is a ripoff, this sandwich cost six dollars, I can get a better sandwich anywhere. Please stay away, it is impossible to not know that a sandwich like that is leaving your establishment, plus my first clue was how rude the guy behind the counter was, I would have better off at Subway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a big bbq brisket lover, so when I placed my order with this people I thought ok, its a high end store, everything will be fine turns out NOOO their customer service is terrible, they talk to their customers like they are animals. My order was all wrong, didnt come with bbq sauce two ladies at the front made me pay $10 for a bottle of bbq that I will not even use all, even when they clearly told me on the phone I could come pick up the side sauce. The lady with long blonde (dyed) hair super rude telling people to hurry up, to move aside, if theyre not buying to get out. The lady with short grey hair super rude too didnt even listen to my complain about the whole deal. HORRIBLE PLACE TO SHOP AT. Do not recommend it.
