We had my 25 year old ring redesigned and reset at Uptown Diamond this month. Im blown away by how beautifully my new wedding ring it turned out. I brought in a small collection of jewelry, including my original ring/diamond from 1994 and some other pieces along with some photos of my design ideas. Sydney Good was able to take my photos and my pieces and work with the designer to send me some design ideas. The finished product is spectacular. I started thinking back to all the different pieces of jewelry that I had over the years that went into this new piece. My original engagement and wedding ring from 1994, a necklace I wore at my wedding that my parents had given me, a ring inherited from my grandmother, my anniversary bands and sweet gifts my husband has given me over the years. Now Im able to wear them all as one gorgeous set and its so special to me. The design and completion of the ring was flawless and Sydney and the Uptown Diamond creative staff did such a great job and their enthusiasm is contagious. The process of design and pricing was smooth and well communicated, from concept photos to 3D printed ring samples, you are able to really get a feel for what the finished piece will look and feel. We appreciate the craftsmanship and care so very much. If you are considering a custom piece this is your place!

Uptown Diamond is not your typical jewelry store. You just dont go in and pick out the one you want, but rather it will be custom made to your liking! You get to talk to Rick, who is the owner, and also very knowledgeable in jewelry. After agreeing upon the stone and ring, Rick will 3D print the band for you so that you will know what the ring will look like after the stone has been mounted. I think it is such a creative process allowing the customer to actually see the almost finished product before it goes into production. The whole buying process was very enjoyable and educational. Rick did not tried to up sell me the diamond, but rather down sell since no one in the naked eye will noticed the imperfection, and I truly appreciate his honesty. Overall, I would highly recommend Uptown Diamond, and I would definitely return for future upgrades.

Uptown Diamond made the process of buying an engagement ring and wedding bands quick, fun, and simple. Rick took the time to explain the various different variables that go into ring selection and created 3-D CAD and physical models to help select the right rings. Nice office setting, however not the best experience. The salesperson lacked engagement and never seemed interested in following what was being requested. The parameters for the engagement ring was provided but not once was anything within range. When a price was given, it was much higher than other competitors with very similar qualities.

A few months ago my fiance and I purchased our wedding bands from Rick. Rick is an incredible individual and is a pleasure to work with on this type of stuff. He is knowledgeable and even more so caring. . People (at least us) came in to see Rick with general ideas in mind about each of our bands, but nothing too elaborate. Rick does a great job of really talking and understanding your wants and desires and then giving you ideas and feedback to expand on what you already have and building out a unique solution for you!Rick also does a fantastic job sharing other thoughts and concerns, that maybe people dont think about. One example of this was me asking about a gunmetal / darker colored bands made of some kind of harder metal. Rick was all for this idea! However, he also shared with me that these types of rings you cannot adjust and cannot be resized over the years and that he would recommend looking at these other bands he had examples of. These other bands were identical in appearance and feel, but have none of the faults of the previous. These rings are made of slightly different materials (you cant tell a difference at all in person), but they are adjustable, can be altered, etc. This type of insight I would have never known and thought of I had gone with my original instinct.I got my fiances engagement ring, and we got both weddings bands from Rick. He will continue to be our go to guy moving forward for all things Jewelry.

Uptown Diamond is a great place to have good customer service and custom jewelry made. Rick was very welcoming and nice. I explained to him the experience I had a competitors business and he was sympathetic to me and how I was treated. Rick was very quick on the design and 3D print of my engagement ring and made sure I was satisfied with the design. I decided after much research to buy the loose diamond myself from another party and was shut down completely by the other competitor to make the setting for the ring. However Rick was completely fine with this and even complimented me on my diamond and for all the research I had done as well as the price I paid for the diamond. He happily agreed to make the setting for my ring. After some discussion about what I wanted and pricing we agreed on a final product. He had the setting made beautiful and fast. For reference, Im 29 and designed and purchased an engagement ring with Uptown Diamond. I visited Tiffanys, Zales, and a dozen other jewelry dealers in Houston before a friend put me in touch with Rick. All of them left me feeling like I would have to drastically compromise my budget or ring quality. Working with Updown Diamond was exactly what buying an engagement ring should be. First and foremost, I felt like I was Rick’s most important client. For context, he’s designed and built rings for Super Bowl, NBA, and NCAA Champions, and at every step of the process I felt like my ring and my budget were his top priority. He understands the stress and excitement of making such a meaningful purchase, and treats you in a way that lets you know you’re making good, thoughtful decisions about your diamond. The office was warm and inviting, however, after waiting for about 5-7 minutes, no one came out to help me or even say hello. This isnt one of your bargain bin diamond stores, so I expected a higher level of customer service. Maybe they were having a morning meeting? The guys right around the corner at another custom diamond shop were a bit more accessible. Id stop by again only if Im in the area and I know someone is there.

After looking at countless rings at the popular engagement ring stores, my then girlfriend and I decided that custom setting would be the best option since neither of us liked what we saw. We got a quote for nearly $4500 (including a $400 CAD fee and some $150 warranty) for just the setting from a big engagement ring store after being passed around to numerous salesmen only to have to explain again what exactly we wanted. After this experience, I felt discouraged because I did not want to spend thousands of dollars on a ring/diamond that I was just okay with. Rick and his team generated 4 or 5 CAD model revisions and 2 or 3 3D-printed waxes during the whole process per my requests. Despite the fact that we were very specific with the design we wanted (were both engineers), Rick was always receptive and understood what we were asking. He never tried to BS or up-sell me. Rick and his team created a beautiful one-of-a-kind setting at a fraction of the price that the other store wanted to charge me. Also, he believes so much in the quality of his diamonds that they are Bonded (warrantied against defect and decline in value) AND if you want to trade-up or sell back the diamond, you get the FULL value you paid. No other diamond retailer in Texas offers this policy that I know of.Rick told me when I picked up the ring after months of discussion with him, that I was probably one of the slowest and most detail oriented clients hes ever had, and hes right. When youre buying a ring the price of a new car, you want to take it slow. But any other retailer wouldnt have the patience to deal with me.
