Since I have been working with the SBDC my knowledge on business has grown tremendously with their assistance. Any issue or concern that I have had they were able to answer with great detail. My own confidence has grown through their guidance.

I have sought out individual counseling on social media marketing for mre than 6 years (at Brazosport College) and attended several short workshops. The Center has saved me rabbit track chasng - dollars and stress and has consistently given me guidance tailored specifically to my objectives. It is an incredible resource. Sidebar...my business (a mom and pop antique and collectibles place) could probably be classified as a microbusiness - 1 worker and several volunteers at times- and we get treated as professionals and vaued people.

Many of the topics offered are not in my radar and its nice to have a resource that offers options. A great resource for business.

Its amazing that their services are at low or no cost and so helpful, yet I feel like most people dont even know they are available or dont take full advantage of all they have to offer. There are so many successful professionals offering their knowledge and expertise all in one place. They also offer different types of classes. I highly recommend their services and resources no matter which phase of your business dream youre in, they can help with anything.

Something is amiss in the website coding. I signed up for a 2pm class on the same day as the class. I received not notice and no link to join the class. I called to see if I could join the class but no one returned my call, so I totally missed the class. I also signed up for Marketing Madness, but that doesnt show up for me. I started with PTAC (UH-SBDC) in 2017-2018 after being laid off in Oil & Gas Industry (2015). I was not able to find gainful employment with transferable skills and now turning 50 as a single woman. I had NO choice after a ex-coworker also laid off recommended I connect . I have always been entrepreneurial and Self Employment is the key to be sustainable. I took classes there in the early 2000s on computer software. I can honestly say Tim Scarborough and his team are amazing. The classes on how to tap into Federal, State, City, Coops, other entities with the government and some private sectors they are GREAT GO TO PERSONS. CAVEAT: They can not get or guarantee you a contract its not easy and they make it known. You have to do the work; dont get discouraged. However they have the answers or will find out. I have recommended them to others. Several of the classes are Free and they have real time data that is accurate. Nice facility when downtown on Fannin, I have not been to the new location due to COVID, however I cant wait. I am still able to email or call Dennis McIntosh; has always made himself available. Ive seen them around on Facebook but they never really caught my attention, always thought it was click bait. Lots of fake people photos and lately just unattractive pictures. A girlfriend forwarded me the link to a PPP webinar from today. As a business owner if you are not working with the SBDC you are missing out. The presenter went into great detail over the application, i have been looking for this information for weeks! the girl at the end of the video Natalie or Maddie was amazing, she showed the website and everything it had to offer step by step, I wish I could have attended the webinar live, you can tell these two ladies have a passion for what they do! I am now watching another webinar that I found thanks to the girl at the end!

I went to SBDC Downtown to talk to a mentor about my small start up business. I signed up to be a member 2 months ago. The classes that they have are helpful and resourceful knowledge for your company. It talks about fundamentals to set you up for success. The classes cost so I have been very particular on the ones to take $29 is the average up to $49. I am a start up so my business has not made money to reinvest in the company with classes & conferences. I advise you to sign up and call to get a mentor immediately. My mentor did her homework about my business. She was prepared with action plans for me & market research homework that was really needed. This really gave me the confidence to research and get my business in gear. I would recommend to small business owners who are new to gain awareness of broadening your horizon in business consultations. The appointment only took 50 minutes. Had an hour long session with them, were promised multiple evaluations and business comparisons which we would have found very useful. Nothing ever followed. Tried contacting multiple times afterwards to enquire about next steps and never received anything. Most disappointing for a small business support organization.

Exceptionally dedicated and helpful group of people. The classes are useful and thoughtful. Get on their email list if you have any interest in small business. They can help you raise funds and apply for government contracts. They have a group of consultants that can give you individual attention and they have an impressive resource library on site.

3 months to get a call back and learned that the only way they help you is no providing a library of info you can find online... They said they could help with a loan but we were just told to write a business plan and they would tell us about lenders which you can also find online. Loans are credit based like any others so theres no actual assistance. Huge waist of tax payer dollars.
