I was visiting Houston for Halloween, and I wanted to go to the Best place in town to get a man haircut . I asked some friends and they told me that The Gents Place in River Oaks is the spot. Located in one of the nicest area in Htown ( River Oaks). Well, my friends were right, what an experience ! I loved it!. The place itself is beautiful. The stuff is friendly and very professional. They asked me if I wanted anything to drink, I waited only about 10 mins. Staci the hairdresser saw me at the time of my appointment and She did a fantastic job. I was happy with the results. Right after, Staci finished my hair cut, Jacinda the Barber was ready to go, yes a woman! she was awesome, she trimmed and detailed my beard. I highly recommend this place !

I went in for the first time today and this was the best haircut experience i have ever encountered. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable and experienced. Trevor was my stylist and he was absolutely amazing and honest if he cant do the hair style you want he will tell you straight up that he cant do it he will not mess your hair up if he cant do what want. He is a great stylist overall! I will definitely be getting a membership with them and Trevor will be my permanent stylist.

The Gents Place is awesome and is open for appointments. For one, even before the pandemic, the shop was clean and welcoming, and the folks that work there are somehow both extremely professional and friendly. The shop has stepped up its cleanliness to even higher standards after the pandemic, with appropriate distancing in place for customers and a requirement that visitors and hair stylists wear masks at all time. I have visited the shop multiple times since it reopened and cannot cite to even one instance of an employee not wearing a mask at all times.Everyone certainly has to make their own decisions regarding their safety, but I have found the Gents Place to be a safe environment and the stylists there continue their excellent work.

While visiting family in Houston I needed to be freshened up. The place is very upscale and the staff is friendly. Sumiko is a very talented barber and did a marvelous job.

I am a very on time person. I was there before my appointment time. After ten minutes, I walked up to the reception and was told, sorry, we’ve been very busy. I looked around. No one there. At 15 minutes I left. Maybe I it’s just me, but that was untimely.

I have been to more than 7 barber shops around town. Never found the right one until I got here.The service and commitment of each barber is exceptional. I havent had the same barber once and still I always leave extremely satisfied.Prices are high is not a neighborhood barber shop. But it is totally worth your money.The cocktail selection is simple but precise.

The place is nice, the service is good at the salon, staff very friendly, but at the same time this is to be expected when my haircut there costs well over $100 with tip. My frustration came when on Tuesday I confirmed a Thursday appointment, twice. On Wednesday I get a missed call, and then a text saying Your hair stylist will be working different hours tomorrow and we need to either reschedule you during the new hours, or someone else can do your service. My first response was, well this isnt my fault, Im not exactly close to you guys, and Ive had this on my calendar for a month, and my afternoon calendar is planned around it. Why am I the one who has to rearrange his schedule on such short notice? I was offered a 10% discount for the inconvenience. Wow, thanks for the $8.50 discount on an $85 haircut. I was glad to see how my time is valued. They then said well someone else can do your cut to which I replied so when you go to your appointment time to get your hair cut/colored/styled etc. you are happy with whoever they assign to you, or do you have someone specific in mind? Was very disappointed in the response and how little they valued my time. Its not like this place is around the corner for me and they happen to be on one of the busiest streets in Houston next to the busiest highway, it takes a minute or two to get there! Wasnt expected this from an $85 haircut. There are plenty of other high end salons in the city. Wont be back again, which is a shame.

I’ve been a member at the Gents place for a few months now and have recommended them to everyone I know. They have now made me look forward to getting a haircut with the gentlemen’s atmosphere and the incredible service. I would have to say that what really impressed me was their expertise and knowledge on getting me exactly what I was looking for even when I didn’t really know my self. Today I went to the Houston location and went with Anthony and the cut was honestly one of the best haircuts I have ever had. He asked questions and listened to exactly what I was shooting for then advised me on how we could get there based on my hair type. He was also very easy to work with when I noticed small changes I wanted to make, you could tell it was important to him for me to leave that day with every part of my haircut looking exactly how I wanted to. Check this place out when you can, I honestly can’t see my self getting my haircut anywhere else anymore.

Anthony is a pro. He’s an outstanding barber and knows what he’s doing. He gives his input to all your ideas to make sure you don’t leave looking like fool. If you need a barber, go see him.

I originally tried this place out because it was close to my office. It is somewhat on the pricier side; however, it’s a high-end experience from beginning to end. The feel good piece of this place is that they donate a portion of their sales to homeless veterans for meals which is a cause I find very important. I’ve been a member for a while now and have had a few different barbers because it seems like this place has a lot of turnover, but have been impressed with the work of the few that I’ve had. As they say, third time is a charm. My hair & beard have been helped to be healthy and well groomed thanks to this place as well as the products they recommended. Today, however, Anthony became my barber. I’ve never felt & looked so well groomed nor had my hair cut to my instructions as exactly as I imagined it. He also provided insight as to what he thought would improve my style in a well presented way and convinced me to try out the changes which were subtle but came together amazingly at the end. This might literally be the best haircut & it’s definitely the best beard outline & trim I’ve ever gotten in my life. I honestly was thinking about running thru the last part of my membership haircuts & then maybe look for a new spot. However, after my experience today I now need to plan to renew my membership. Damn it lol (but in a good way ha)

I felt no pressure to join either. The haircut was okay, I think overtime I could help make it better with added services. Shampoo was included and shoe shine. I am looking into becoming a member. She was assertive, professional, and communicative about how I wanted my experience to be. They cleaned my head, face and shoes with attention to detail.For context (and a story), I had no money, I was moving, and had recently just been fired from my job, which wasnt paying enough. My emotions were in the deep, but they embraced them. My self-esteem was low - I needed a nice cut. What I got was empathy and professionalism the whole way. Dude up front (didnt get his card) impressed me with his shoe handling skills! I mean, my shoes needed HELP, but I didnt know how much. The entire experience had me walking out overjoyed..If youve never had your self-care done like this, I recommend this place.

I received a free members day pass and the appointment process was fairly simple (over text messaging). I was able to receive an appointment for the same day with Claire.She did a pretty fantastic job with my hair and treated me professionally throughout the process. At no point did I feel any pressure about signing up for their membership, although Claire did discuss what they offer, which I appreciate.I would definitely consider going back if Im unable to get an appointment with my current barber, however, I wouldnt say that you couldnt get a haircut thats just as good for less. The experience is high end, but not a good value for money imho (unless youre into that).

I always get quality cuts here, and the staff is always a pleasure to work with. Tonight I had a wash and cut from Anthony, and in addition to making sure I got everything I wanted and offering suggestions, he had a lot of relevant things to talk about and was also cool with me just relaxing with the experience. After a horrible experience at another upscale place this morning I called the Gents Place and they book me an appointment, and I have to say, from the minute i went inside to the minute I left, I experienced the best customer service from the front desk, they gave me a tour of the place, and a complimentary whiskey (can it get better?) trust me it does!!! I was greeted all the time and everybody was professional and friendly.I have to say thank you so much to Trevor, he made me feel at ease, Trevor made me feel not just like another hair cut, his professionalism is beyond anything I experienced before any other place.And Trevor gave me a total make over! I love the new hair do, feel and look younger, definitely Trevor is very knowledgeable, I recommend his services especially if you don’t know what to do with your hair.I had curly long hair to my shoulders, Trevor took the time to assess me on what looks better for me and he was right! And did I mention that his hands are like so relaxing, I was almost falling asleep during the time he was shampooing my hair.Thank you so much Trevor!!!

Just had the complimentary 3 course club. I walked in, and was immediately greeted by two wonderful people. I was given a tour of the entire place and ended with meeting my hair stylist, Sue. She was absolutely amazing. She educated me about my hair and what I can do to further nourish it. I upgraded to the 5 course club for a small charge, and I must say, it was the BEST experience I’ve ever had. I’m defiitely going to become a member, and I’ll definitely be asking for Sue again! Ive done business with these folks for a while at other places in town and the service is great. If you are no fuss (like me), its a great spot. If you like a little fuss, then its a great spot too. Staff makes you feel comfortable and welcome no matter your style. Good deal on the memberships and services provided. Make sure to use it. Valet service, but usually a spot or two in front and more on the backside of the building. I drop my shoes off for a shine before having lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants in the complex. Convenient.

I loved my experience. Even with my home emergencies I was still easily relaxed at every turn. The staff, environment and atmosphere are inviting and lively. It is a mans spa and style for the Mans man. I recommend a visit at least once because thats all it will take to get you hooked.

Service and staff were great until I sat down and got my cut. Anthony swore i would get the best haircut ever, but he must have been bluffing because it was the complete opposite. He took a picture of my hair at the beginning of the appointment to compare it with the final product, however he did not take the final picture because he knew he had done a terrible job. At the end of my cut, kept spinning my chair around so I would not be able to get a clear view of my hair. He tried to rush me out the door claiming he had another cut after mine. I was truly disappointed with his service.

I went in for a free introductory day pass, and was offered an upgrade to the 7 course experience for a small fee.I went ahead with the additional services and it was great all around. The haircut was the first step, and it came out really well.The stylist/barber Stacie did excellent cutting my hair and gave me all sorts of tips and recommendations for my hair type. She remained professional always and did not pressure me into anything or any products that Gents Place carries. I cannot recall the name of the masseuse but the hand dip, face refresh, and neck massage were all great as well.This experience definitely beats going to a traditional barber shop, especially with the benefit of appointments. No long waits and your time is treated valuably.I signed up for a membership before I left.

As someone who is a very particular about getting a hair cut - this place is great. I got the basic 3 course hair service. The staff was very friendly and helpful, my stylist (Jennifer) did a great job with my hair and was helpful in working with me to get what I wanted, the relaxation room where they wash and condition your hair and give you a hot face towel was wonderful - I felt like I was at a spa, and the complimentary drink was just the cherry on top. The facility itself was also very clean. I will definitely be returning and am already looking forward to my next visit.

I came here today for their 3 course offering. This service comes with of course a cut, shampoo and conditioning, along with a hot towel, shoe shine, and up to two alcoholic beverages.I carpooled with another individual and his appointment was right before mines, so I was able to enjoy their lounge while awaiting my turn. The lounge comes with a large screen TV with sports and I enjoyed a whiskey on the rocks. My phone was at less than 10% and I was lucky enough to take advantage of their phone chargers.Once it was my turn for the cut, it was a great experience with Meagan, she gave me a marvelous cut, with very good conversation. The towel service that following the cut was very relaxing. I was on my lunch break, but I wanted to take a nap!While, I was getting my haircut, you can have your shoes shined. So that after you have your hair styled your shoes are ready to be picked up.Overall, I loved everything about the Gents place, its the male spa/barber, where you can get away and just enjoy what generally is a very mundane task.

Well this first time I went wasnt too bad although the haircut was not what I wanted but the rest was good. I recently received another free pass and when I called in to schedule an appointment I was told that there was a mistake and that I shouldnt have gotten another pass. I was told that they were going to look into the matter and get back with me. I never got any response after that. I had also told them that I would still like to make an appointment for Saturday and when I messaged to confirm the appointment this morning (Saturday), I was told that the appointment was not set. Great way to earn customers!!Update: The manager got in touch with me and offered a full seven course service as a courtesy to solve the issue I had. They set and appointed for me to come and Michelle gave me a great haircut and and shave. Thank you for making this thing that started out as a negative in to a positive experience. I will be recommending other people to use yall in the future.

Came in with a 3-course offer, Stacie cut my hair and explained everything to me very well. Haircut was on point.This place is pricy if you come in for a haircut without a membership. As long as you dont mind paying for a year worth of haircuts up front, their membership options are actually quite reasonable. It seems like hair stylists are required to offer you hair products they used on you at check out (just like other chains), I find that to be a little weird since they literally placed a bunch of products by the register like you are really buying them.A good experience overall.

I would not go anywhere else in the City for a haircut or nice relaxing day at the spa. Sue and her staff go out of their way to deliver an out of this world experience. If you want to look and feel good I suggest you come to the Gents and treat yourself.

You truly feel like you’re a member of a social club. The entire staff is inviting and welcoming. Sue, manager of the Hair team, is topnotch. She is a true professional and leads a tight ship. Each haircut comes with multiple top shelf drinks. Beer, whiskey, vodka, wine you name it. There is an actual bar where people hang out and network before and after. They have a private lounge area for people needing to attend to business during their work day.Need your shoes shined? No problem. The Gents Place has a great setup for that as well. And if you are a member you get multiple complimentary shines a month.I’m not one for all the extras but if you are they seem to have that covered. Saw something about nose waxes and hand rubs. Hey, whatever floats your boat.This is not a run of the mill trendy Haircut shop. This is truly a professional and country club like experience. The owner, Jeff Stocks, was in during my visit and it is extremely clear how much he cares about the success of this company. Do yourself a favor and try it out. Hope to bump into you sometime.Only recommendation was that they add Coors Light to the menu. Ha.Oh and don’t forget that the valet works for The Gents Place as well. So drop your keys off and walk on up.

Man I was truely astonished going into this place my first thoughts were could they cut my texture of hair ?is it worth it? Man they booked me in and I had to change my appointment to an earlier time which they got me through no problem!! The service was absolutely amazing!! Michelle was a professional boss! I came to the gents place on a free members day to check out how they are and how the experience would differentiate from a normal hair cut place and this place is amazing with the friendly, great service, to the many other services they offer like a top shelf bar, complimentary valet, hair wash with a deep scalp massage, or hand and feet repair for the hard working man. They even have top products for sale for beards and hair. If your looking for a new barbershop then trust me come check this place out.

Great service, awesome place. Sierra did a great job and I found my new place to get my hair cut

The Gent’s Place at River Oaks was the perfect place to get a hair cut, relax and get away from the responsibilities of life for an hour! They offer a superior experience to other salons!

First and foremost, they have excellent service and a unique concept. Every haircut comes with 2 drinks (I.e. mixed drinks, wine, beer or even nonalcoholic beverages), as well as a consultation/ recommendation regarding your hair style, a professional/custom-tailored haircut, a free shampoo session in a dark quiet/peaceful room to get loose hairs off your head/face/neck as well as a hot eucalyptus towel for your face to relax you. Then they either touch-up your haircut if you aren’t fully satisfied or apply product to style it for you. Trevor cut my hair and did a great job- - -I highly recommend him. And Ciara did a great job on the guy next to me, which I know because it looked good and he raved about his haircut. The ladies behind the counter (Angel, Victoria and Jeannette) are sweethearts who recommended various products and explained the benefits of joining the club but weren’t foreceful or overbearing. I had a great experience and recommend this place to anybody looking for a great haircut and unique experience. 5 stars!

The service here is so great! The shop is nice and clean constantly, you’ll feel like you’re waited on hand and foot.

Best atmosphere ever!!!! Everything was perfect, except for the haircut.....would be a really good gentlemans club though.

I was definitely not satisfied.- I arrived 12 minutes late and was told i could only get a cut / no neck shave nor shampoo...5 of those minutes was me going around the lot trying to figure out where the entrance was. the place was also empty and I didn’t see anyone waiting when i left but whatever - i was late- I then explain my haircut to the barber and i had a very uneven cut. it was not proportional at all. I asked questions to confirm if the barbed believes that that was the finished cut and since he thought was ok I decided to end it there knowing i’d need to get it fixed elsewhere. (i left 5 usd tip just because everyone gotta pay bills but was not for a good service).- i was using the first time free service coupon and when i was checking out the cashier didn’t find my coupon at first. it took a minute until she could see where the error was.in general it was a very poor experience for a 55 usd cut. you’d expect every hair stylist to be highly skilled for such price. i’m disappointed.

Excellent customer service. The staff is very professional and passionate about their work. Great results, and worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Super good service....spa like...ask for Stacie...she is the best.

The hairstylist cut a chunk of hair that was long with out asking and in that particular area I get a really bad cowlick when the hair is short. For someone who has 11 years of experience she should have know better as to why that area was long. It will take nearly six months to a year for that area to grow back and in the mean time I’ll be struggling to prevent the cowlick from sticking out. This was the best experience I’ve ever had getting my haircut but because of this issue I’m not going back.

A bit too pricey but otherwise a great experience.
