Update 9/23/2021: Red and the team at Kacals continue to provide stellar service, professional and advocating communication, and timely repairs. This time I had a slight leak in my transmission seal, and Kacals had me in and out in 3 days - after wrestling with the warranty company once again when they tried to dodge coverage. Ultimately, I asked Red to recommend additional maintenance while the transmission was dropped, and was still surprised by the total being lower than I expected. I needed the van back for a trip the following weekend, and I am looking forward to feeling secure in my long drive when I hit the road.Fantastic experience with Red as my service advisor.TL;DR: Kacals is an honest, reasonable, rapid, friendly option for vans (and Im sure everything else, but I can only speak to my experience)I had an issue with my Medium roof 2016 ford transit 350 xlt, under warranty.I had taken it to 3 different shops trying to find a mechanic I could trust, a price I could manage, and availability before the end of the year.Kacals was recommended by my favorite shop in Houston - RMS auto.They were able to see my transit the next day.Red fought valiantly with the warranty company when they tried to side-step their coverage due to Kacals discovering that the original prognosis was significantly more expensive than what she had previously communicated. I appreciate the integrity that she demonstrated, and ultimately Im sure I saved money compared to the original work that the warranty company was going to cover.My van, which has been in and out of shops for the last 3 months trying to get a check-engine light resolved, was fixed and passing inspection (provided by Kacals) in just 2 days.I was blown away with the quality and efficiency of their work, and how excellent Reds communication & professionalism were.Thank yall!

I can not honestly say whether or not this business do great car work or repairs.. They charged me $3800 to rebuild my transmission and the cold part is that they did not do the work themselves!! I literally followed my car and seen them drive around to a transmission shop and dropped my car off, something I should’ve and could’ve done myself.. The work that transmission place provided is garbage because my car jerks at times when going into gear and most repair (quality businesses) waive the diagnostic fees if you get the work done by them, not Kacals.. I wouldn’t recommend no-one to their shop period!!!!!!!

They kept the car for a week with no updates before they got to it, then the quote was high with no clear explanations and couldn’t talk to Mike K., the owner, as they were not sure when he would be back from vacation. Not quite like the reviews. Plenty of big rigs at the shop though, they may be good at that.

As a woman going to a mechanics garage can be daunting, but everyone here made me feel comfortable. Their business ethics are top notch, and they were extremely honest and transparent. I really appreciated this business as a whole and so thankful that I chose to go to them.

I’ve been coming to Kacals for quite sometime already, today I dropped off my car in the morning for a routine oil change, I asked them to check my cabin filter and received a work ordered around 12:03 with details about my oil change and the brake Fluid cap. It showed a total amount for both items, I called them to ask if they had checked my cabin filter, the lady who answered didn’t know anything she said she worked for the parts department but suggested that if not in invoice then they checked it but no need to replace it, she also mentioned to me about the cap for the bake fluid and gave me a different price. I told her the invoice sent to me didn’t show the amount she was saying, she said that her price was the correct one. I drive to pick up my car, I get there and everyone is just starring at me, no one addresses me, until some guy name Luis ask if I was going to get the cap replaced and the cabin filter because it was really dirty, I asked how much longer it would take and they said they would have to order the supplies but can go any other day to get it installed? As a loyal customer I would to think you guys handled this differently. I’m considering going elsewhere because the lack of communication and customer service has Deffinitely change in that company.

Mike and his shop really helped me out. Being 250 miles away from the problem, Mike assured me he would take care of my son who is attending UH just down the street. #GoCoogsMikes shop drove him back and forth to campus while they checked out the problem. Huge relief for us! We will definitely be back for any more help!

I can’t say enough or sing the praises louder for Kacals. Went in for a routine safety inspection on my RV/Camper and the professionalism and quality started immediately. Josh the inspector notice a wheel that looked somewhat out of alignment and from there the garage investigated further and found two wheel bearings had not been properly seated by the manufacturer. In the Houston heat they checked all four wheels and greased all the axils. The charge for this was minor in comparison to what I would have paid at another garage or RV facility. Not sure another facility would have even considered looking beyond the inspection. More than the the fact they stopped what was being done and helped me, the friendship shown and conversation made the time spent there well worth it. “Red” who managed the paperwork was the best and if you need any work coordinated there she is a must contact person! Truly made the event enjoyable. I highly recommend using Kacals for automotive/trailer/ RV repairs and general maintenance. I’m passing the word to every RV friend I have in the Houston area.

I went in for something that was (not) wrong with my vehicle. Meaning the problem with my vehicle was me leaving the lights on inside the car. The engine and the throttle body light would come on. And the vehicle would stall due too a drained battery. They could not fix it simply because it was nothing wrong with it. But the guy gave me an idea of what could be wrong with the vehicle by offering me a new battery. So I put 2&2 together and realized it was my fault for the light inside the vehicle. Started cutting off the light before I get out and havent had the problem since. Sure they helped indirectly, but its still help so the get five stars.

There are only a few places where you can bring a Volkswagen and get any repairs and Kacal’s is the only place you should go. They do great work and Miguel is the best he will make sure you understand everything before they do anything. Kacal’s is really a great place to go for auto repairs.

Called in to get a quote for a starter install. Was cut off while speaking on the phone after younger lady provided me a quote. Ended up taking my business elsewhere, please dont disrespect new prospective customers. This was a prime example of the importance of taking high volume google reviews with a grain of salt.

Went to Kacals for a break flush and alignment. Had some issues initially but they followed up and made good on their service. Every business makes mistakes but it is how they handle the mistakes that separate out good businesses and bad businesses. Kacals honestly owns up to their issues, works to resolve them, and do right by their customers.

Needed to get a diagnostic on my vehicle. Leo was my service advisor and he was awesome. Didnt get work done but the professionalism that was displayed was wonderful.

I went to Kacal’s because of the reviews on Google. I called them and they told me to bring it in at 7AM. I brought it in for Diagnostic Exam. Special Thanks to Miguel there who found out that I needed my spark plugs and an ignition coil changed which I was glad to get done they were very professional in the details that they gave me about what was wrong with my vehicle.The only thing I was unimpressed about was when I called to inquire if my vehicle was ready for pickup. I called and they told me it was ready, When I had got to the shop they had informed me that I have to come back the next day to get my vehicle due to the shop being closed at 5PM which was not advertised on the website (it said they closed at 6PM) it put me in a bind for the night and I was not happy about that but I was able to get it the next morning. Other than the time issue they’re very detailed and professional.

My window was stuck down right before a tropical storm. They were able to repair it quickly at a reasonable price. I appreciated that they gave me a ride to and from my home. That was a huge plus. They were kind and respectful.

They fixed what’s wrong, very quick and professional. They advised of other maintenance issue but not high pressure. I will return.

New customer for life! My husband and I experienced such amazing customer service from Kacal’s and more specifically from Mr. Rick. We asked Kacal’s to perform a “Pre Buyer’s Inspection” on a dump truck that we anticipated buying. I called to make the appointment and Mr. Rick was eager to assist. The truck was brought in that morning and the inspection was completed by that afternoon. His staff did an excellent and thorough job in diagnosing some issues. Because of the thorough assessment, I was able to have those issues fixed before purchasing the truck. The cost of the inspection was very reasonable and Mr. Rick was always available for questions or concerns throughout the process. I can’t say enough good things about this company, but I’ll end by saying that you won’t find a more honest and reliable automotive and maintenance repair shop anywhere else. I called Rick on Wednesday letting him know my order of tires was coming into the shop for them to install on my truck. I showed up Thursday without an appointment and unfortunately they couldnt fit me into the schedule but Rick very graciously set me up for an appointment the following Tuesday. A little while later, I realized I could catch a ride to work on Friday and my roommate could take my truck into the shop instead, I called Rick up and he told me that would work just fine and happily penciled me in on short notice for that Friday morning.My roommate took the truck in and was greeted very cheerfully by Rick and the staff, he immediately knew it was my truck that was to have the tires installed and told her it would just be about an hour or two for the install. They were super nice to her and even offered her a cupcake (definitely solidifying the experience for her) while she waited. The tires were installed perfectly and they are riding suuuuuper nice. I would absolutely trust them with my truck again if need be!Thanks Rick and everyone over at Kacals!!

I had my regen system on my 18 wheeler repaired. The job was done correctly and my truck is running like new. Very professional staff. My only complaint is the time it took for the repair. I was down for three weeks. They had to troubleshoot it but should not have taken that long. I will use them again because of the quality of work but I will have to get some assurances about the time the job will take. Great company overall.

My personal mechanic did some work on my car after it took on some issues i cant explain. He changed some spark plugs this shop used which were said to have been cheap grade and really not even for my type of car. We went in and they were nice site looks good but wanted to charge $130 for a free diagnosis. I have lost all hope In mechanic shops. I feel like they are all shade 🌳 tree frauds. Its a gamble if you ask me.

I am a woman who will not trust my beloved truck to ANYONE but Mike and Rick at Kacal’s!! I am in Houston with my daughter who is waiting for a Lung Transplant. We are staying in Houston while she is listed and my truck decided it was time to mess up 😅 There were tons of logistics with a warranty I had from a business located in Florida and Mike and Rick were able to get it all figured out and helped to get my truck there as well as completely fix the issues I was having. Best communication I have EVER had with any auto repair service. I have an old 2001 F150 and to many that may not seem too important but I love my truck and they were so fair and honest and truly care. I don’t know anyone in Houston and am always afraid of being ripped off but I can say with total confidence that Kacal’s will never do that. They have been great to me and as long as I am in Houston, they will get ALL of my auto repair service needs. Real people with real hearts right there. I’d give them 100 stars if I could!!

The moment I stepped into the door, the staff is always smiling. When i first had a problem and noticed there name among the service provider....I did NOT hesitate. I knew exactly where i could good great service and an explanation of the services. I am a FOREVER customer.

I was leaving for a 2 hour drive out of town and my wheel started to make a scratching noise. They diagnosed the problem, contacted my warranty company, ordered my part, and fixed my issue all in the same day. Was awesome.

I will NEVER come here again. Paid to have my car diagnosed and repaired and yet my car still had the same issues that I brought it in for the very next day. The staff is very rude and unprofessional.

Rick took care of me from start to finish. He was patient with me in explanations and in finding parts for my older vehicle. I will definitely start using this place as long as I’m located in proximity to this side of town.

This place is a scam I went there to get an alignment on my truck I have a heavy duty truck they made me wait two hours at the end he told me that the truck needs some parts before we do the alignment so I ask what’s the estimates he said it’s going to cost about $2000 hidden want to give me a estimate on paper he said I have to wait some more and I didn’t want to wait more so I went out for a second place to get a second opinion and I found out that everything was cool with the truck the alignment was done and And these guys just didn’t have the proper alignment machinethese And he charged me $74 without doing anything on the truck and he waste my time on the top of that

Took my car in because my engine light came on. They said it was my catalic converter, my car is only 5 yrs old. I let them change it and 1 week later another sensor went off. Come to find out the oxygen sensor needed to be changed. From the beginning it was the oxygen sensor. I had them change the oxygen sensor, I go to pick up my car and the drivers window wouldnt roll up. When I left my car the window worked perfectly. Miguel claimed it wasnt them but yet it wasnt broke when I left it.When I brought it to Miguels attention he tried to fix it with his hand but that just made it worse. Miguel didnt admit that his mechanics and himself cause the window to break. So I had to pay them to fix it. And after all that they didnt even reset the diagnostic system. Miguel told me to go to Auto Zone and have them do it. After spending over 1300 thats the service I get. I will definitely let all my friends and family know how shady this company is. Look for this review on my Facebook page as well as Yelp.

Staff was very nice and greeted me as soon as i walked in the door they did a diagnosis on my truck they told me they would do it and call me as soon as they finished they did exactly what they said they would do and it was in a timely manner very professional and the staff seems to be very knowledgeable and knows what theyre doing. They dont take shortcuts or cut corners. They dont lie to try to run you up a bill, very friendly pleasant place staff joking and laughing with each other good work environment.

You need to be bringing your vehicle here. Exactly what a service shop should be, hard to find. Switching from the dealership to here was a great decision... Saved money and dont have to deal with the lies and made up needs for your vehicle. They gave me a ride back to my shop for free, also. Will be returning with any kind of vehicle theyll work on!

This repair shop does a lot of work for UofH. I feel confident that they do a good job to handle UofH vehicles. They shown a personal professional interest in my safety on the road, available for unexpected concerns/consultations and aware of my safety needs as an older woman driver.

I tend not to over endorse businesses - Kacals Auto & Truck Repair is defiantly worthy of a 5 star review. I knew exactly what my vehicle needed and I was not oversold on additional maintenance and they were significantly cheaper than alternative auto repair shops. Dont think twice about trusting them. Service was Quick And Easy! Theyre great to work with and will provide phone call updates along the way if necessary.

I got back into town from vacation and started my car. Immediately I knew it didnt sound right. I thought I may be ok to drive to work but as I continued down the road the engine was hesitating and I feared I might stall out in the middle of the road. I called Kacals and they told me to bring it in immediately. They provided a ride to work for me. Less than 24 hours later they had fixed my vehicle. They went over and above for me, allowing me to get to my job as well as getting my vehicle up and running in a timely manner. They are always polite and kind when I go to their shop. I would never take my car to any other shop. I cant say enough kind words about this family owned business.

Extremely experienced and courteous people, the prices arent cheap ($120 an hour for labor) because you pay for experienced mechanics that do it right, fast and go above and beyond.They fixed my cars loose right shock in little time (required a total replacement of the proprietary bolts which they didnt charge me for) and provide a check of any other things that could go wrong without trying to sell you snake oil.All around great shop, deserves the price paid.

Took my truck to kacals a while ago, 2004 sequoia white, it’s been taken care of by this shop it’s entire life when I owned it, I was having misfire trouble and a knock sensor issue, they then proceeded to charge 500 to change spark plugs, ik what a joke, then took off my exhaust, and said I needed a new cat (then proceeded to want 1000k to change the cat...I have extensive mechanical knowledge however I didn’t have time to work on this issue so I thought i’d take it to them...Fast foreword to a couple months ago, (just got around to it) I heard an exhaust leak which i’ve heard since i received the car bad and didn’t think much of it...I put the car on the lift and looked around with a flashlight...turns out they completely snapped 2/3 of the studs bolting the cat to my header, the truck has no rust and those studs are very very thick so how they could’ve done that is beyond me, but nonetheless it happened, completely dissatisfied, none of my family will go here again, can’t believe they didn’t even tell me, the owner really should look into this...such an expensive job to fix the mistakes his mechanics thought they could cover up. I don’t have the extra money to fix it either completely ridiculous...

Costly but good mechanics.

I’m not understanding how they were able to fix my car without checking, and now my car is running hot, I picked up my car an hour ago, and they telling me it’s $200 to check, when I just picked it up, I will not be using your services again

Kacals was friendly and efficient. We took our 2005 van in for an overview after hitting 100K+ miles. They identified things to keep an eye on and as the van had no issues, we received no charge.

What to give them 0 stars! Had a very bad experience with this shop. Set up an appointment online for truck repair. But this guys ABSOLUTELY dont care about the appointments. Even though I set up an appointment, I spent two days on the parking lot and they didnt touch my truck at all. Appointment means to get a service when you arrived, but not for this place. You can stay in the line for a week or longer! Dont spend your time over here, try to find another shop! And they dont have a parking for trailer, so you need to pay for parking somewhere else like a Pilot.
