I usually go to Chiks Auto Repair for my safety check but they were fully booked so decided to go here at Starkeys Auto repair since they do a walk-in safety check. I shouldve checked reviews from yelp before going there today.Firstly, just like the other reviews have said, they really have poor customer service from the get-go. Its either they hardly notice you or wouldnt even try to acknowledge you. I had to call their attention 3 times before someone responded to me.Secondly, I normally check my car and fix any issues before taking my car for a safety check so Ill pass the safety check quickly and easily. My car was in good condition and had no issues at all. But today, one of the mechanics told me that my rear passenger blinker wasnt working and offered to fix it. I declined the offer since I dont want to get charged for something that I could do myself. So I went back home to change my turn signal bulb just to find out that its still working. I decided to go to another place to get my safety check done instead.This place is definitely shady. I wouldnt recommend going to this place especially given what other people had experienced about this place. I wouldnt be surprised if this place intentionally breaks your car and offer repair service after.If you do decide to still go (either for safety check or a car repair service), I recommend staying outside where you look after your car while theyre doing a safety check or repair service to make sure theyre not doing something shady to your car. If you dont know much about cars, I highly recommend bringing your car to another place and prevent yourself from getting scammed.

Starkeys auto repair has always been such a pleasant experience. Both the times I have visited for vehicle inspection for my ford focus, I have never required an appointment and the service so quick that I visit the shop after work and I was on my way home in 20 minutes.

Fast process to get my Safety Check. This was my 1st time here. Signed a paper, waited in their small AC waiting room and within 10 minutes it was done. Plus of course they had recommendations for my vehicle. $25 Safety Check.

I will definately go there again although I just got my car safety inspected. The owner was down to earth, honest, professional, and sincere. The place is clean and neat and they value their customers. I highly recommend.

Mechanics simply dont get enough credit. As a traveling computer tutor and repair specialist Im always on the road or have my family in the car. This last thing they fixed on my car would have eventually stranded me on the highway. Starkey Auto Repair always gets a fair price and excellent service.

Came here for safety check. Service was fast and done professionally. They dont accept printed copy of my GEICO insurance cards though. You have to either present the original or show them with your GEICO app on your phone.

Went for safety check. Wanted to do other repairs before giving me a safety check. Still had to pay for the safety check. Went to another place and they did the safety check with out doing other repairs. I think that they are make money doing other things before they will give you a safety check. Doing a safety check is a come on for their business

Ive been to many shops in my time since being able to drive, the people here are amazing! Customer service is incredible and the pricing for a huge local private shop is very reasonably priced. I will continue to bring all of my vehicles here and recommend them to anyone.

Clean workers top notch service

We used John Starkey for a rental car through the Turo App. Very easy - they were quick to pick us up both coming and going. Great car - returning, it was important for us to blend in, which this did. Give them a try, wont be disappointed. Aloha!

The owner John and the staff left me waiting in the front office area for long time about 20 minutes without even speaking with me. Gave me a good price quote to do my brakes and engine oil leak. They end up calling me the following day and stated that my engine is going to need an overhaul and or replaced. They also said I need engine mounts and cv joints replace and a few belts. I said just do what I am willing to pay for and dropped my truck off for which was valve cover gasket and brake pads, ill pick up my truck. Took it to my mechanic friend and he said there is nothing wrong with your truck at all. John Starkey and his team of scam artists were trying to get me to drop serious money down for items that were perfectly fine. They didnt even screw on my oil filter on tight enough it was leaking and loose. Please be aware this is not a professional shop that cares.

If I could rate zero star, I would.I spent allot of money on Starkeys.1st, they misdiagnosed a problem, spent money doing something that didnt need to. 2nd, my car never had an oil leak. Oil leak after 2nd repair.3rd, the oil leak resulted in engine fire. I had another mechanic fix the leak, and fixes from the fire, discovered missing gaskets. How unprofessional is that? Several missing bolts had to be replaced too. Theres not a single certified master mechanic on duty, this says allot about Starkeys. I got a great mechanic now. Aloha Starkeys. Mahalo for the oil leak and engine fire.

Probably the best auto shop experience I’ve ever had. Had a lot of unfortunate issues with my boyfriend’s car, and we took it in to fix those and get it road-worthy again. Every employee we encountered was friendly, knowledgable, extremely kind, patient and cooperative. Definitely got the vibe that these folks are NOT going to leave you high and dry with extra expenses, long wait times, or poor communication. “Mainlander/newcomer” friendly, they aren’t going to treat you like you’re stupid if you’re not aware of all the special rules and laws Hawaii has. We live on the North Shore but will gladly trek down here to see this shop for any repair/safety check need.

John the Owner is amazing! I’ve never met a more honest and transparent mechanic / salesman. As a woman it’s hard to trust places like this because I don’t really know what i’m doing but John has never been shady with me or tried to coarse me into doing a repair or add ons that I didn’t need or want. He greets us with Aloha each and every time we come by. He helped us fix our church van and now he’s fixing our personal car and we haven’t had any problems whatsoever after. Our Church’s van is 20 years old and you can only tell by looking at it. From John down to his workers - I can honestly say I feel comfortable coming here and I don’t have to worry about what they’re doing to my car unlike other places. They have never pressured me or made me feel unwelcome. Mahalo to Starkeys Auto (B&B auto) for the Aloha!
