Great service! I needed to get renters insurance for my apartment and it was my first time getting renters insurance. Walter helped me out and was super friendly and really helpful. I was able to get my policy starter within 30 minutes of getting my original quote online. The only downside is that they don’t offer monthly payments but I was offered a payment plan which works alot better for me instead of paying the annual fee in full upfront. I will definitely be using them again for any of my insurance needs!

Dishonest and do not follow through with their obligations to pay for damages in insurance matters. Island Insurance Hawaii has withheld my settlement in a motor vehicle accident. Their insured caused a motor vehicle accident in Hilo Hawaii in which I was seriously injured and my vehicle was crushed. Island Insurance Hawaii insured admitted fault and Island Insurance Hawaii agreed their insured at fault for my damages. Island Insurance Hawaii has refused to pay for my substantial medical cost lost wages and mental anguish. Now I have to sue their insured to get money Island Insurance Hawaii should have paid. Be aware if you are an Island Insurance Hawaii customer you will probably be personally sued when Island Insurance Hawaii flakes on paying claims.

On December 27, 2019, I filed a claim for water damage to our house, caused by a leak in the roof (which we later discovered). They said they would cover damage to the inside of the house but not the cause. The claim came to around $30,000 for mold remediation, flooring, drywall, paint etc. This was our first claim with Island Insurance. Our last claim was with another company over 8 years ago, for hail damage and it was minor. Island Insurance promptly cancelled our insurance, putting us in a high risk category. We had to go with another company who charged us almost double premiums which we now have to pay for at least 5 years, I am told. At the same time my neighbor had a similar claim caused by a roof leak. His insurer, State Farm, covered the $60,000 claim (new roof and damage) and never cancelled his insurance. I tried to talk with the president of the company and she could care less. Kept saying I was cancelled because of the severity of the claim. Think twice before going with this company. You will be sorry!!!

I would not recommend this company. I had hard time contacting agent regarding accident. They never answer your phone call. Tell you to leave your name and phone number. You are lucky you get your call back next day!!! Hopefully I dont have to deal with this company again.

Horrible experience when i called claim services. i was involve in a non fault accident last june 27, 2020. Since my insurances declared total loss on my car. i decided to call them since my insurances only covered on my car rental for 15 days. so july 23, 2020 i decided to give them a call per my insurance told so. to call island insurances cover my rental expenses. So i made call spoke to one of their customer services support. ask me question and told me that she will pass it on to claim handler and will call me couple days as they mentioned. so i waited since they said couple days. but after 5 days still didnt get any call, so i decided to call up my lawyer and finally today aug 5, after 2 weeks i got their attention. Dont ever trust this insurances company.

I had a terrible experience with Kevin Crawford in the claims department. I just purchased and immediately had a water pipe burst. In a matter of days my kitchen was thrown all over the house. I couldn’t move in.I told Kevin that I had a mortgage to pay. He didn’t care. He even sat on a bid from an adjuster they use for 2 months. If not for my agent stepping in I probably would still be stuck not able to move in paying money for no reason Every one I talk to said there was something wrong with him. This hurt at $5000 a month. I finally had to get heavy to get a reaction, then he gave me a bid from someone who hadn’t even been in the place. I don’t know what’s up but future people be ware.

This insurance company and its employees were friendly, knowledgeable and most of all patient. Nicki was more then willing to break everything down for me in terms that I could understand. She was also very patient with my millions of questions and needing to think about it before I committed. I understood why the quotes were the amount they were. She also was working very diligent to make sure I paid the least amount of money possible with my current driving record. I highly recommend Nicki and Island Insurance Company.Best things: Supporting local people with a local company AND they were MORE that a $100 LESS than the major nationwide car insurance companies.Please, tell them I sent you :)

Terrible for home insurance. They try very hard NOT to pay for anything. They blame the homeowner using the excuse that the homeowner did not maintain the house even if its issues homeowners would not be able to see such as hairline fractures in a tub and plumbing behind the walls. I would not recommend them at all.

WANT A LOWER PREMIUM CALL BREANNE!! I told her I didnt have any insurance for over 10 years in the states as I just came from Japan and do not have any college. She told me that it was okay and if I referred others she would lower my premium and yes she did.. She gave me an 8 year insurance discount and a 4 year degree discount. Thank You BREANNE!! Please call her for a lower premium and be nice as she will TAKE CARE of you.

Island Insurance - dont let their name fool you into thinking they are a local company with local values and ethics. NOPE! If you have homeowners insurance Id suggest finding another provider or hope you never actually have an emergency where youll need to use your insurance. I never EVER write reviews but Id like to save others a big headache if I can...

The Island Insurance staff are indeed a team of con artists. When I bought my pre-owned Toyota Tacoma 1996 pickup truck 4 years ago, I made the huge mistake of choosing them, thinking that Id be helping a local Hawaii-based insurance company. On 2 February 2019, my truck was struck by a vehicle (T-boned on the driver door) while at a complete stop on Kahakai Blvd. (on Hawaii Island) by an elderly lady, as clearly written on the Pahoa police report. I thank all powers that be that none of us were injured. I also found out through my mechanic that in view of the age of my truck, the fact that it had well over 200,000 miles on the odometer, and that the frame had also been damaged, the truck was a total loss, and that the other partys insurance company would refuse to repair it, and would pay me the market value of my vehicle, which would be far less than what I had originally paid for it. I waited for over 2 months, and no one got back to me, Finally, when I called the claims agent on 5 April (over 2 months after the accident), the agent told me with a very cold and nonchalant way that the other partys insurance had denied my claim, and that I had to contact them myself, and that he couldnt do anything for me. He had not even bothered to contact me to give me this information.On April 9, an Island Insurance supervisor told me on the phone that despite the police report, he could not help me because I only had basic coverage. Can you believe that? Please cancel your policy with this company, and do not choose them as your insurance provider. This is a shady company.

They are an insurance company for the local Servco who delivers and installs appliances for Home Depot.The delivery guys damaged my brand new (2 week old) Bamboo flooring by pushing the dishwasher in place from about 3 back. There were no appliances in the house until they delivered them. I explained to Lini what happened, I sent pictures and even and estimate from my contractor (the one who installed my floors) who came over to look at the damage. She didnt ever return my call, she simply sent a letter saying my claim was denied because the delivery guy says he didnt do it.?? Are you kidding me? Well, I adamantly know he did it, you can tell from the pictures that is what happened, its clear as day. She just doesnt want to pay out for their mistake and would rather have me claim it on my homeowners insurance. She didnt even bother to come out and look at the damage. Personally I find this unethical. I will never work with another business that uses them.

My aunty was having some trouble with her current carrier for her home insurance. So together she and I called into Island to see if we could get help. We got an extremely helpful customer service rep, Bronson Tokioka. He not only answered all our questions that we had in regards to our problem but he took the time tobpatiently explain it over and over again to my aunt (who is a little hard of hearing). To be honest our rates with Island are higher than what we were currently paying but we made the switch to Island Insurance anyway. My aunt said that the extra money we would be spending with Island Insurance is worth it because we would be getting Bronsons expertise and patience. My aunt owned her own business before and she really took a liking to Bronson. She said that companies can compete on price but having a rep with knowledge and integrity is priceless and thats what Bronson Tokioka offers. My aunt has convinced me too also switch my insurance and Bronson will be doing a bundle package for me and taking over my brothers insurance for his engineering company in which they employ over 500 employees. Thank you to Bronson Tokioka and my aunty for helping me understand what is to have a good quality insurance rep!! It really makes a big difference. Thank you Island Insurance.

As a new townhome owner 1 and 1/2 years ago, I had picked up home owners insurance as required from another insurance company my family had been with for over 12 years (renters insurance/car/umbrella). The townhome I bought was built in 1971 and home repairs were not unexpected.However, when I made 2 claims within a year, totaling less than $700, for water damage from water leaks in my ceiling and walls, my old trusted insurance company dropped me and my name was put into a national database where all insurance companies could see I was a high risk. I told my old company I would be happy to return the money to them, but they said it was too late.So I went looking for another company and as soon as they saw me in their database - my application process would be cut and I was told to reapply in 2 years... I was desperate. I called the State of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs regulatory branch on insurance and was told that most home insurance policy holders are not informed that it is the frequency of claims that the insurance industry looks at not the dollar amount. I was possibly looking to have to sign up for the homeowners insurance from the State of Hawaii, and I heard it was extremely expensive. -After a lot of prayer and calling all of the other insurance agencies available in the phone book (online), a friend at work asked if I had called Island Insurance. I had not. My wife and I called and got into contact with Robson Bunda and he helped us in getting insured. The service has been excellent. We moved all of our insurance needs (comprehensive auto/umbrella/homeowners) over to them and appreciate them being there for us.The new policy we picked up ended up being less expensive as well :) Praise God!!! Thanks to my friend at work. Thanks Robson. And Thanks Island Insurance.
