Looked for someone to work on a vintage car I was buying and found Ray and Geno before I bought the car. It was clear they knew their stuff. They were happy to discuss repairs I anticipated. I was supposed to drive it to him on Saturday after it arrived. However, I took the car out on Friday for a spin and an ignitiion wire burned out and the car was dead on the side of the road. I called Ray at 3:45 p.m. on a Friday and he immediately drove his flat bed tow truck an hour to pick up my car in the city during Chicago rush hour traffic. Exactly the type of making the extra effort that tells me that I found the right place to take my car!

Robert is very unprofessional, and he is definitely one of those mechanics that uses you and lie to you for the money.....he works fast but he doesn’t fix your car properly. he has a poor attitude. He has been there for years making money off his customers and not even fulfilling the job. I wouldnt let this auto shop change a tire on my bike.... Robert is not a fair man, he’s a user and a liar and will say anything to get your money..... PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Robert even told he wasn’t the owner of the shop in which indeed he was the owner.... please learn from my mistakes. Have a amazing day

Ray and his crew are great. They are professional and the only place I will go to repair our cars. I always feel like Ray has given me an honest assessment of the work that needs to be done and the work that can wait for down the road. In addition to doing great repair work, everyone at Bernardis knows how to treat their customers. I’ve recommended neighbors and co-workers to get their repair work done here and they all have had the same positive experience.

Robert towed my car unlawfully. I was parked in an area that had no signage. He is aware that the area is a trap for people coming to visit the beach, yet continues to tow unknowing visitors. He was very rude to me when I tried to pick up my car. He did not allow me to pay with credit card, though Illinois law requires tow companies and auto repair towers to accept credit card payments. When I got my car back it had damages done to the front of the bumper. Very unprofessional and dishonest. Will be filing a complaint with the city against Bernardi’s Auto Service Center.

Ray is a fair and honest mechanic—a rare find! I was having car troubles and took it to a different mechanic. I was told I needed all new brake pads along with some other things, totaling $700. I brought my car to Bernardi’s hoping to get a better deal, and Ray took great care of me! He was able to fix my car for $100 and informed me that I didn’t actually need any new brake pads! As someone who knows nothing about cars, I’m extra grateful to have found someone who will not take advantage of me. Ray is a gem! I will only be taking my car to Bernardi’s from now on and I will be recommending them to everyone I know.

Had a tierod snap on the way to work. Not only do the guys at this shop do repairs, they have their own tow trucks!! Within 15 minutes I was on the way to their shop, and within 2 hours my car was fixed and I still got to make it in to work for 5 hours paid. Everything was fairly priced too, cheaper than i thought it would have been. These gentlemen do a great job and are very friendly! I appreciate your service guys!!

I cant write enough about Ray, his brother and his son. Hes a great, honest owner and only replaces what needs to be done. He worked at great lengths with me and our 1959 Ford Fairlane. He took on two big jobs with the car (and all the other fine adjustments that came along with it) and did them with a smile on his face. He assured me every step of the way that everything is going to be fine. Hes a classic car owner himself so he knows what hes doing with both the modern and classic cars. Dont hesitate to bring any of your automotive issues to him. Ray, thank you for everything you have done for our family and my wifes fathers first car. Looking down on us, hes smiling.

Ive used them for years. Very honest and I have never had a problem with the work theyve done. I have never felt over charged or confused about what theyve done e.g. whether it was necessary or not.

The manager is nice and helpful. I had a flat tire at work and I didn’t have a spare tire so I would need to be towed to a local tire shop. After getting towed by their own tow truck and replacing the bad tire with a new one, I paid a total of $372.44 upon picking the car up. Unfortunately, after getting back home, I realized that my new tire does not hold its pressure. I checked the pressure and it was less than 10 psi. So I filled it up to 35 and rechecked it after 5 mins. To my dismay, I saw the gauge reading below 30. So something is not right.I called Bernardi’s and told them my story and the manager told me that my valve stem is the culprit. “No wonder I did not get any reading when I checked its pressure.” he said. I did remember him checking it one last time before he handed me my keys, but did not say anything. I checked my valve stem, I could feel the air coming out from the leak and it does make a hissing noise around it. Now my problem is, they know about the situation beforehand but did not do anything or even tell me about it. What were they trying to play? For me to come back after ruining my new tire only to be replaced again by them? I may not be in a place to give them advice but they need to check and make sure everything is in order before they hand off their finished product back to their customers. As a customer, I trusted them to take care of me and this is what I get for paying almost 400 dollars? They actually told me over the phone that I can come back to their shop and they will replace my valve stem for free which they “don’t normally do.” I don’t know how true that is but I appreciate their gesture for damage control. On a side note, he made sure to tell me to not run the tire flat and set the pressure to 40 before I start driving back to the shop because they will not cover any damage on the tire by the time I get there. Given the fact that I drive about 30 miles from work to home with a leaking valve on my newly replaced tire, it hurts to think about the extent of unnecessary damage it has received through those miles, yet they want me to go back for another trip. Give me a break. By the time I get there, my tire would probably suffer the same fate as my old one. I got my valve issue taken cared of by my local Costco and they told me that my rim was bent. I was surprised that Bernardi did not even tell me that or they simply did not recognize it. It says alot about their quality control. I had high hopes for this shop because I read the good reviews by their previous customers online. It doesn’t matter now because they did not provide me with the satisfaction that I deserve.

I have done business with the Bernardi Auto Services family for years and never had any complaints. Though I no longer live in the immediate area, I still travel to their location to have my vehicle properly serviced. I trust these people to do what is requested or required and nothing more or less. Their fees are fair and very competetive when comparing to dealerships and other shops. Another thing I really like is I get to deal directly with the Owners/mechanics of the company and not some service writer that doesnt even try to relate my request(s) or complaint(s) to the actual mechanic doing the work. Regardless of the vehicle, age, condition or issue reported, they will resolve it properly with a full explanation of work performed and why. They take their work seriously because their Family name is on the line. Their work is their signature, and they sign it with EXCELLENCE.

STAY AWAY. My car broke down between Chicago and Kenosha. It was towed to Ray at this shop to get the lower ball joint and axel fixed on the passenger side for $370. I had recently got the driver side repaired at a shop in Chicago for $260. You do the math. Complete rip off.
