Ive been seeing Rachel Hutchinson for probably a few years now and Ive never had a bad experience here.
The worst FIRST experience I ever had. They don’t listen to you or hear you out they just ask you a few questions and give you medicine. I went in hoping to talk about my past trauma and depressive issues with a psychiatrist but instead was in a room with a psychiatrist and a STUDENT, who then ask me small questions expecting small answers. She tells me “I don’t do therapy, I give medication.” I went in at 3:20 and left at 4 with a small prescription of Zoloft. I left Uncomfortable, disappointed, and i worse then when I came in.
They said they took my it insurance and were wrong.. they didnt realize it till it kept being sent back from insurance company and are still holding me responsible for paying it and refuse to admit it was there fault and now I owe over $700 on a $150 bill I couldnt pay from 2016
I love this place. Parking is limited, but the doctors here are awesome. The current staff is amazing as well.
I have been unable to reach my doctor for weeks. I’ve been out of medication for five days and he won’t be “available” for two weeks. Can we please get mental healthcare professionals that care about mental health?
This site for some reason says i left 5 stars 2 years ago. I WOULD NEVER. When my NP left the practice they were no permitted to inform their patients. I was then moved to another NP without my knowledge. After her being 2 weeks late on writing my prescription for the 2nd time, I went and sat in the office until someone could see me. She called me that evening from her cell phone and actually had the nerve to yell at me to go to the hospital for emergencies and that my medication was not a medical emergency (which ofcourse is why I didnt go to the hospital) and she didnt see the problem with me missing it for 2 weeks. After her yelling and berating me for 5 minutes i finally hung up on her.called the next morning and canceled all future appointments. She then sent me a letter refusing to see me again which was laughable. I have never been treated so poorly and would recommend anyone here find another psychiatrist immediately
Everyone here has been very nice and accommodating to me. Especially when I’ve been really sick. Thanks!!
I absolutely LOVE this office! From the receptionists to the kindness of the other employees and ESPECIALLY Dr. Faber! I am so happy I chose to be a patient here!
Deciding to go to a psychiatrist took me over a year after a referral. I must say the office staff treated me nicely and respected my privacy. I was seen by the Doctor not a NP. I felt safe and secure in talking to him and am looking forward to my next visit. He is working with me and my issues. I am very certain I made the correct choice.
By far the poorest ran doctors office in the Birmingham area. I have never left a negative review for a business but after the way I was treated today I felt it was necessary so that others will be warned not use this practice until it’s under new management. Their new office manager treats patients like numbers, he doesn’t care about the quality of care you receive or if you receive care at all. I called 72 hours in advanced to reschedule my appointment due to having the flu, and asked if I would be charged a cancellation fee. I was told no by the receptionist but when I arrived the day of my rescheduled appointment the new office manager demanded I pay an additional $50 fee for rescheduling my appointment even though I called before the 48 hour window. He actually said “No one can waive the 48 hour reschedule fee but me and I never spoke to you. He was extremely petty & immature and has zero business running an office. He told me that unless I paid the additional fee I could not see the nurse practitioner that day and that if I chose not to pay the extra fee on top of the co-pay for my appointment that day he would charge me another $50 for canceling the day of even though I was there to ready to pay the co-pay for my appointment. Absolutely absurd! I will never go back because they do not care about their patients, as I left that day I told the office manager I would no longer be a patient due to the way he treated me. Update- Because this is too funny not to share. A week later I received a letter from the office manger confirming I was no longer a patient along with a copy of my google review highlighted, I have never heard of a doctor’s office sending a letter to a patient that is no longer a patient by the patient’s own accord or printing, highlighting and mailing a copy of a negative google review to a customer/patient.
My experience using North Shelby has been phenomenal. Many people like to forget that doctors offices are businesses and passed owed balances must be paid prior to receiving care. I don’t work for free and they certainly shouldn’t either. Additionally, doctors offices also have employee turn over and new people must be trained. Maybe they seem scattered to you, but perhaps they are training someone new. The staff here is just as human as the next person and they deserve patience and respect just like the patients they are caring for do.Finally, if you’re looking for talk therapy you won’t find that here. This is a doctors office, not a counselors office. They are here to listen to your symptoms and treat your mental illness via prescribed medications.I urge potential new patients to weed through the unrealistic expectations from the negative reviewers and for y’all out there expecting error free medical care, good luck.
Kelly is the BEST NP! I love her so much and she has helped me so much! I highly recommend North Shelby!! They are so sweet and kind and work with what you need!
One of the worst places i’ve been. waited for hours before and they always overcharge me with my insurance. the lady i see is very unhelpful and overall not a good place to be.
Ive seen Dr. Faber and Anthony for awhile, and have always had a positive experience. The staff returns my calls and directs concerns in a timely manner. If I need to get in immediately, Ive always been able to.Keep in mind most people only write reviews when they are unhappy, few people think about reviewing when they are satisfied with their service.
Paid $250 cash to be told by this joke of a place that because I am a STAY AT HOME MOM and DO NOT WORK outside of the home that my ADHD isnt worthy of treatment!!!! Everyone there from scheduling, to check in and including the nurse practitioner was made very well aware of what I was there for and it was ONLY for my adhd medication up front! Like, way before my appointment even started. They all knew why I was there. And that I was a sahm. It was even on my paperwork! But still they let me sit there answering 100 questions, filling out tons of paper work knowing good and well that they were not going to give me my medication. This entire place is a joke. I bet if I was there for a drug addiction it wouldnt matter that I didnt work. How dare these so called mental health professionals tell me that because I chose my children over having a job temporarily that my adhd isnt worthy of medication! All they wanted was my money! They refused to treat my adhd and refused to give me my money back. Legal robbery.
Have wn appointment coming up, my primary care provider reffered me here and got me an appointment, and the receptionist when my doctor called was absolutely amazing, I needed an appointment last minute asap because of some medications I needed my primary Dr couldnt prescribe but lost coverage through VA where I was getting them and the receptionist did everything in her power to get me in and seen the very same day, even though nothing opened up she still called and let me know what was going on and gave me the soonest available appointment, and also placed me o. The cancellation list in case someone else cancelled shed call me to come in, so so far everything has been outstanding with this place and will find out more next week when I have my appointment...
I previously saw Anthony Phillips, NP who was worth +10 stars; however, he left and I had the incredible misfortune of seeing Dr. Faber. Now, Id like to leave negative 10 stars. Dr. Faber has a bad bedside manner, and seems to lack understanding of mental illness; he comes across as judgmental, rude and moves people through as quickly as possible. His office staff is very unorganized and scattered. It takes as many as 3 phone calls from me AND my pharmacy to get him to refill medications. If youre looking for an understanding, caring doctor - look elsewhere.
Weve been using Dr. Faber for several years now. Hes fantastic.Theyve had several different receptionists. Sometimes, its hard to find a good fit. Thats not nearly as important to me as the doctor.
I have been going here for almost 2 years. I absolutely love the place. I have always been treated with respect. I have never had anyone in there be rude or short with me. I show up to my appointments on time, its only a short wait to see the nurse practitioner. At first I seen Mr. Logan who is fantastic, last time I seen a new one since Logan went somewhere else. Both people have spent as much time as I wanted/ needed in the office. Listened and worked with me about what was going on, what I have been taking and what I refuse to take. Threw all this we came to a happy medium that works great for me. I feel like they have my best interest in mind every time. The reception at the front 2 desk always smiles and greets me. They have always from day one wrote my next appointment on a card with me even asking. They wish me a well day/weekend/holiday whichever the case is as I leave. I always say you get what you give, if you have an attitude, its just human nature for ppl to give one back. With that being said, I have been there and heard people come in and call cussing and screaming at the reception, and they never raised their voice back. I will continue to go here, even tho I miss logan, but this place actually treats you like your someone.
Ever since I been going here the staff has been nothing but nice, friendly, and professional. I see Mr crowell and he is great!!! Works with me to address and solve my problems. He is always nice and inviting, treats you like a actual person and not just someone that has problems and just trying to get meds he has regulated my meds and change some that was better for me and is actually trying to help me cope better with my issues so I can try to taper down on some meds the doctor I seen before him just came in wrote a script and left. Then he retired without notice and north Shelby psychiatric was a God send to me. Thanks for all you do I actually like going to see the doctor now. You guys are awesome.
After years of debating going to a psychiatrist I finally swallowed my pride and decided to seek help at North Shelby. This was a mistake because obviously HIPAA laws dont matter to Rachel Hutchinson because a family member of mine who I do not associate with knew details about my session and prescriptions. I feel violated. No patient should have their privacy invaded like this. I will look for any means to prevent this from happening to anyone else.
He has changed my life for the better. I cannot recommend a better psychiatrist!
Treatment was garbage. They dropped me as a patient because they literally didnt know how to help.Do not come here.
Worst place I ever went to . A lady doctor told me I need to admit myself And I told her cant or I will loose my home. I just needed my basic meds and she refused to treat me I might have been a little upset but not bad enough to be admitted into a hospital
Our son went here for months. He’s bipolar and has been suicidal for months. Anthony knew this. He always spent no more than 10 minutes with him. They work with Pesek counseling. Where his therapist is. Our son was once again, suicidal. Our therapist sent us to Anthony after she knew about his headspace. He’d see us right away. Our son agreed to new meds. The psych ward wasnt an option. Insurance kicks us out after 2 weeks, and that would only make our son more convinced to end it. Our therapist knew this, and since she works hand in hand with Anthony, she sent us directly there. We were kicked out. In front of my suicidal teenage son, the receptionist told us that it was their protocol not to help him. To take him directly to the er and admit him. She talked to Anthony. This came from him. We left and my suicidal teenage son said, “see mom? No one cares about me.” I understand it’s their protocol. They could have taken me aside to say that. They did not have to say that in front of my son. We will be filing a formal complaint on Monday. DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE.Edit - and beyond aaaallllll of this, I fully expected to come home and have the police at my home. If they believe my son could be a danger to himself, isn’t it their duty to notify authorities? Nothing. They refused to see my son - who was willing to try any new medications - told me to take him to the er, and never followed up. If this isn’t some form of malpractice? I don’t know what is.
We saw Anthony Phillips and he was awesome. However, the receptionist couldnt make an appointment to save their own lives. I honestly think they were running a scam. On 4 different occasions they told us we had missed our appt. So, I had them write my appt date and time on a reminder card. When I showed up they told me I had missed my appt. They proceeded to tell me they didnt write that appt down. Due to my employment I never make an appt for a time before I get off work. They kept telling me I had an appt time for the same time Im at work. They would charge my family $50 per person for missed appt.
My Nurse Practitioner is pretty good. Im just happy Im away from Grayson & Associates. The Secretary is always rude. She gets pissy if you ask for something. I have 2 bulging discs and a herniated disc pinching my sciatic nerve. The pain is extreme. Im on bed rest. My appointment is in the morning. She will be rude when I call and ask them to call in my meds. My Neurologist wouldnt prescribe me Toridol or Tylenol 3 for my crippling pain.He said call your psych. I asked the Secretary and she said we wont prescribe that and hung the phone in my face. Im furious! I cant walk from 1 room to another without my leg having pins and needles and shocking pain from my back to my toes.
They told my wife they couldnt give her the medicine shes been taking for years for A.D.D. because she doesnt work... Even though she told them everything before hand.. they will rip you off!!
I had to call to reschedule an appointment with my practitioner and the receptionist was very rude to me. She had an attitude the whole time I was on the phone, and I even apologized for the inconvenience and she still acted like a youknowwhat. Very unprofessional. You dont need to work with mentally ill people if you cant try to have a positive attitude, or even be nice to patients.
This place was very unprofessional. They need to treat their customers with more respect and ensure their clients are getting their medicine on time.
Horrible!!!!
Its ok
