Buyer please, please beware of Bills Automotive. (I like to leave nice reviews but I felt it necessary to leave this review with the hopes of helping someone to avoid an experience thats less than positive.)This repair shop was excellent until I asked questions about the work they performed after getting a second opinion from another licensed professional mechanic. Stated differently, Joe and Andy were nice until I realized Bills Automotive made a series of mistakes and asked them intelligent questions about the plethora of performance errors by at least one inexperienced mechanic in their repair shop.In January 2021 Bills Automotive did a major oil leak repair ($1,700+) but had to redo the job because they allowed an inexperienced mechanic to perform the work.Heres what happened, and why I do not recommend Bills Automotive.I contacted Bills Automotive after researching repair shops on Google. Based on the reviews I decided to patronize them. The decision to patronize Bills Automotive turned out to be the wrong decision.Bills Automotive repaired my oil leak in January 2021and by March 2021 I noticed there were oil spots under my car so I contact Joe at Bills Automotive. Joe informed me that the oil was leaking from the bottom of my engine instead of top (they fixed the leak from the top) and that it would cost another $1400+ to perform the repairs. While I am not a mechanic, Joes explanation seemed illogical to me because, not only was there oil underneath my car, but there was oil seeping from the top of my engine where they performed the repairs. Thats when I decided to get a second opinion.I got a second opinion from another certified licensed mechanic. I simply asked him to diagnose my car. For obvious reasons, I did not inform him of my previous experience with Bills Automotive. The second opinion mechanic gave me the same diagnosis Bills Automotive gave me in January 2021. How do I know it was the same diagnosis? I know it was the same diagnosis because after I received the diagnosis from the second opinion mechanic I showed him the receipt for the work Bills Automotive performed. The second opinion mechanic instructed me to contact Bills Automotive, inform them about the second opinion and ask them to re-do the job they did in January.I contacted Bills Automotive about their errors. Initially, Joe was dismissive and demeaning until he realized that he was on speaker with me and an expert mechanic. Only after Joe realized that he was speaking with an expert mechanic his demeanor changed. Joe began to speak to me in a professional tone. As it pertains to the oil leak, Joe admitted to their faulty work. Joe said that the person who fixed the oil leak in January was not trained to do that particular job on a foreign car and that the person who performed the rework was newer to his shop and certified to do the rework.As a result of the faulty January job, oil that was leaking from the poor job caused additional problems and I had to pay Bills Automotive $400+ to do the repairs and the faulty job caused oil to leak into my radiator nearly ruining my engine. (See photo) And they left a tool under my hood after their failed attempt to repair their errors. (See photo)In the end, Bills Automotive did not fix the errors they caused by improperly repairing my car in January 2021. They got frustrated and, not only insulted me and hung up the phone, but told me to come pick up my car and that they were no longer going to try to fix my car that resulted from their amateur performance. (I ended up going to second opinion mechanic who, corrected their errors by fixing the poor repair performance from Bills Automotive.)I would never recommend Bills Automotive to anyone unless they hire skilled labor and become more professional. In my humble opinion, they do patchwork, overcharge and lack professionalism particularly when someone asks intelligent questions about the work they performed.Buyer please, please beware before patronizing this shop.

Joe explained the diagnostic findings and took the most economical approach to fixing the issues. He did not try to up-sell. His knowledge of the issue gave me confidence and the work was completed the same day. Joe has won a long term customer.

Wonderful experience as always! They keep me informed about my vehicle and the repairs it needs. There have even been times where they told me I did not need work done that I thought I needed. I dropped my car off because it was making noises on driver side when turning on hways and was clanging over bumpy roads. I knew it was axle/shock strut related. Bills gave me a quote that included brake changes and tire change and said they would not do job unless all were included. I wasted all Friday looking for mechanics. I stopped at two other places for diagnosis unfortunately one was open on Saturday. I went to Monroe in Putnam plaza Glastonbury and paid 970 struts and they rotated my tires problem solved perfectly. Bills quote was almost 1800 dollars when the job was half that to be done for what I needed.

Very professional and warm environment. I dropped my car off around 9am and it was completed by 4:30pm. I was very pleased at the turn time and price for service. There was no pressure for other services, I will be going back for my future needs.

This will be the first review I’ve posted online and for the right reasons. My car was having a lot of issues lately in terms of power and stability so I came here to see if they can help me out. I live relatively close but have never been here since I’ve had a family mechanic that’s helped out in the past.Let me be honest, from the level of service upon entering to the completion of my car repair, I couldn’t be happier. They were kind, attentive, and very informative over what I needed to be done or what could get put off for a while. They didn’t try to make me get anything I didn’t need, and for their honesty and transparency as well as the quality of service done I give them five stars. And they were priced more than reasonably as well. They were wonderful and it really felt like a great neighborhood spot that I could trust. They even had a nice dog in the entrance. I’ll be coming here and recommending this place from now on with the upmost confidence. Andy and the rest of the team were outstanding. I am completely satisfied with my service! Thank you!

Ive gone to Bills for several years now after they were recommended by a coworker. Prices have always been fair. Work is done by or before the estimate given. Customer service is very responsive.I recently went in for an oil change and two dashboard warning lights: (1) tire pressure {!}, and (2) the ABS. I dropped the car off in the morning. Got a call that afternoon saying oil change was done, the ABS light had never come on for them, and that the wheels all had plenty of air but an initial scan showed there was likely a problem with one or more tire pressure monitoring sensors, with further diagnosis required. They asked if I wanted them to go ahead with the further diagnosis and also if I wanted them to take care of some overdue maintenance work (air filter, engine coolant, etc.).I was surprised by the second piece, because I had brought the car to them three months earlier for an oil change and inspection and was told then that no work was necessary. When I asked about this (getting a little frustrated, to be honest), they said they thought theyd recommended the work last time but that I didnt have to do it that day. I picked up the car and Joe gave me an explanation of the work done and further work needed, as well as a detailed breakdown and price estimate for the remainder. ABS light and tire pressure light both immediately came on for me as I drove it off the lot. ABS light later went off of its own accord and hasnt come back on.After thinking about it over the weekend, I brought the car back the next week for the remainder of the work. Due to a miscommunication, Bills did the maintenance work (and gave me a 10% discount on it without me even asking) but did not finish diagnosing the tire pressure issue. I brought the car back a third time and Bills fixed the tire pressure issue—apparently one of the tire valves was leaking right around the stem so they replaced the piece and the tire pressure light went off. I tried to pay for the work but Joe insisted it was on the house.Although it did mean a couple extra trips to the mechanic, I really respect that Bills made sure to check with me at each stage of the process about whether they had authorization to proceed, explaining both the price and the work before doing it. And when they were unsure what I had authorized, they erred on the conservative side while keeping me posted of what remained to be done.The fact that Joe also was courteous throughout, insisted on discounting the price without my ever asking (and despite my repeatedly offering to pay), and patiently explained the diagnostic process when I had questions was excellent customer service. Many thanks, I will definitely be back.

I took my car in because I thought something was wrong with it. After checking the car out and doing a few checks and tests, they were honest with me and told me absolutely nothing was wrong with my car, instead of trying to force a service onto me like some shady mechanics. I felt respected, and I really appreciated the honesty, so if ever anything is wrong with my car I will definitely bring it back! Very professional and honest business

Once again, Bills Automotive came through for me!In backing out of the garage two days ago, I knocked the cap off my passenger mirror. I tried to replace it myself with no luck, plus it seemed Id damaged the turn signal light. When I called Bills Automotive, Andy suggested I swing by to see whether this was a body shop problem or something they could fix. So, I stopped by this morning.Not only did Joe solve the entire problem in under two minutes, but he refused to charge for his work. This is not the first time these guys have responded this way to a short, simple problem, either. Thats one of the reasons I trust them--I know from personal experience that if something is a real problem, theyll tell me, but if its not, they wont try to make it look big and complicated (and expensive).Ive been taking my car to Bills Automotive since 2014, and I recommend these folks highly! (Plus, if you have to wait, you get to hang out with a sweetheart of a dog!)

I highly recommend Bill’s automotive.... The only thing they could approve on is a shuttle service but of course that’s probably not cost-effective these guys are professional and courteous and offer a two year warranty on work that they do.

While in CT visiting my mom, and my vehicle needed an oil change and tire rotation. I thought their customer service was very good. They listened to your concerns and questions and respectly answered them to the best of their ability. I would bring my vehicle there again. They did an excellent job fixing my fuel filter connector when I couldnt do it myself. Much better than replacing the fuel line! Will be returning to this shop for general maintenance.

My experience with Bills Automotive was wonderful. Hes great at explaining exactly the issue of the vehicle and ensuring that you understand why/ how the issue occurs as well as how their going to resolve it for you. Not only did my vehicle require a substantial amount of work to be done he along with his team were able to execute the job within one business day!!! I was very impressive being that this was all happening the day before New Years Eve!!! His timing and work was over sufficient and I felt at ease leaving my vehicle in his care. The bill was pricy considering the job that was needed but after picking up my vehicle and driving it. I can say it was worth it!!! Needed my brakes done on my 2015 Nissan Pathfinder as they were grinding very badly. Was greeted very professionally by staff and also by the sweetest golden retriever in the world that just wanted love. Got a call after I left that I was also due for an oil change in 100 miles and my battery was corroded and that they could add those services to the work. I really appreciated that because I could barely find the time to bring my vehicle in for brakes (hence, the grinding). Also, I work at CCMC and was made aware they give a discount which I had no idea! Car is running great now. Will return for my next big issue.

Positive experience. We went to Bills after a Ford dealer identified a very expressive repair for a check engine light that was suddenly turned on after a recall repair. Bills was able to review and confirm no issues. They did some additional repairs at half the price that the Ford dealer quoted. Prices, process and work seemed very fair. Theyre now our go to local garage.

This place is so awesome the staff was very friendly and professional. I brought my 2010 RDX to get looked at. Periodically my check engine light and Sh-AWD would come on and off over a course of a month. I was in constant contact with the team on update and thought of what they thought the problem was. I very very please with the end result it my car was working with no check engine light on... I would highly recommend Bills automotive.

This place is excellent. I had a moment of panic driving to work after I realized I was having car trouble and was not sure if any place could fit me in or how I would get to work. I decided to try Bills because its walking distance to my work. I was able to drop my car off that morning, go to work, and pick it up good as new at the end of the day! They even fixed a bulb and changed the oil which I had been delaying scheduling at the dealership - so it ended up being a very convenient trip. The quality of service and the customer service are both top notch!!

I have been going to Bill’s Automotive for 7 years. The owner’s name is Joe and he is a good, honest person, and his business is run as such. Cody, the head mechanic, along with the rest of the techs at Bill’s have all done work on all of my cars. They are each knowledgeable working on American and all Foreign vehicles. Live further south and sent a vehicle I was looking at from a dealership nearby in Hartford to Bill’s for an inspection. Unfortunately, while I didn’t purchase the vehicle, the inspection report/findings provided were very thorough and the technician was honest about what he found and provided a detailed overview. Very happy I picked this place to have the vehicle looked at. Highly recommend if you live in and around the Hartford area.

Pleasant and very professional

I love my car. It’s a 14 y.o. Toyota Prius with 230k miles. It makes sense that I would love my mechanic too. I’ve been with Bill’s Auto for 10 years. I trust Joe & Andy with my most finicky car troubles, weird, nuanced & rare issues that keep my car running sweetly. Overall, their rates are reasonable, service is personal, and I feel incredibly safe on the road. Bill’s gets my highest rating.

Had my van towed there yesterday, for my battery and alternator, and Andy and the guys were amazing and very thorough. Im a returning customer after a long absence, but Ill be back for more work my vehicle needs.

Very professional, organized and well mannered. Droped my car off at 7:30a by 10:00a received a call with full report on what needed to be fixed on car and the time frame in which it should be done. The car specialist took time to dumb down all the mechanical terminology so I could understand. Overall Ive had a good experience with this company so far....

I literally went to 3 other mechanics who just gave me an outrageous price before even thoroughly diagnosing my vehicle. I was referred to Bills and Andy advised me to bring the vehicle in for a diagnosis before he told me anything. When the diagnosis was completed, he told me what the problem was in detail. Andy was extremely helpful, honest, very patient and worked with me to give me the best price for a costly job on my Volkswagen tiguan. That was more than anyone had EVER DONE for me when it came to getting my cars repaired. Bills Auto is my new home for all my future auto repairs. Thank you soooo much Andy, you guys are the best!!!

Every time I have gone to Bills I have had a great experience. The staff was courteous and informative. The mechanics are solid. The waiting area is clean and quiet. I can go to Bills and not have to worry about are they fixing something piecemeal to keep me coming back. Sit and play with the pup when he is there or have a great conversation with Joe while you wait.

I have lived in four states so far and Bills Auto is by far the most pleasant car service experience Ive had anywhere. When Town Fair Tire messed up my car during a wheel alignment, I brought it to Bills. He assessed the problem right away and even helped me get a refund from Town Fair for the poor work that was done. Another time, when my coolant pipe broke and I needed it fixed right away so my engine wouldnt overheat, he got me in and everything was fixed within a day. I seriously dont have a single complaint about this shop, its always provided me with delightful service. Plus, they have a beautiful golden retriever named Gus that hangs out in the lobby area -- what more could you ask for?
