I wouldnt recommend this place to No one..My bad experience is when I tried several times to get in touch with this company to get a rental.. Their internet needs some serious fixing, it gave me a number, but when I went to validate the number they was closed when their sign on the door stated that they were open when they wasnt..I needed a rental badly to go to Baltimore for my mother funeral..Greatfully, enterprise had a rental

Tried to rent a car on a Thursday in Mechanicsburg Pa and none were available. No guarantees theyd have one for Saturday. Couldnt make an appointment or reservation for a car 2 days later. Forced to call in and hope. Tried next closest location in Harrisburg with same results. At least they answer the phone.How can a car rental company the size of Hertz have NO cars available. Great way to run a business.
I really dont like giving bad reviews but I have to this time. Our appointment was for 12pm, we showed up 30mins ahead of time and it was very busy. I waited patiently and was helped about 45mins later. We were told the cargo van was not at the location it was at Firestone near by for unexpected maintenance and I was still patient. The van arrived with 1/4 tank of gas which didnt bother me much but when I went to inspect the vehicle it was extremely DIRTY (I will try to attach photos). When I said something about it the guy I was dealing with he said he could sweep it out for me but that van needed more than swept. I took pictures and showed the other gentleman inside and he said well it is a cargo van as if I should have taken the vehicle extremely dirty anyway. This was a total surprise to me. You dont treat your customers like this. Every vehicle I have rented in my life have ALWAYS been clean inside. We have rented several cargo van in the past and none of them were ever dirty like this. In case I cant upload photos I want to describe them. The inside of the doors had buildup dust on both sides. The floors by the seats had dried dirt like someone was walking in mud got in the van and it dried. The back had lots of small pieces of dirt like they used the van for plants and never cleaned it you can actually see between the seats and the back streaks of dirt running from one floor to the next.
These people are unfair to those under 25. They told my grandson he had to pay extra so he said ok. $150 they took everything out of his account. When he went to pick up they car they turned him away. Said they needed a major credit card for someone over 25. Even though they already took the money from his account. They said all credit cards used had to have same name on it. But they still have his money....sad thing is he probably makes 4xs what those clerks make......they are liars and their website wont tell you any of this....boycott Hertz

Booked a reservation. Showed up and the guy said they didn’t have enough cars despite having a drawer full of keys. Would not recommend this locations AT ALL! They shouldn’t let you book if they don’t have cars.
Rented a car through Expedia, went to pick up and was hit with a $500 charge that I was not aware of and couldn’t rent unless I paid it, the car was dirty, the seats were stained, the car wreaked of smoke like someone had just smoked a case of cigarettes. Will NOT be using them again.
Do you EVER answer your phone??? I rented a car and needed to call the office and have called Hertz customer service and the local office multiple times and it just rings and rings with ZERO HELP!!

The reservation was confirmed by the provider on 03/30/21, when I called next day because I wanted to make sure, Hertz Agent said they don’t have cars available for a week. Very unprofessional that I didn’t receive at least a call to inform me about that.
They were friendly impatient and had me in and out fairly quickly even when dealing with other customers

Told we had until 5 to pick up a rental. Get here at 4 and they locked the door and wouldnt answer the phone. It was a rental through auto insurance so the insurance adjuster called them and they said they were open until 4:30... Well weve been here since 4 and they wouldnt answer and door was locked (people were inside)
I had a rather difficult and frustrating situation where I was stuck 2 states from home, Richard and the other gentleman whos name Im regretting not getting now, were very helpful and patient with dealing with my situation
Staff were professional, prompt and delivered a high level of service that one expects from Hertz!
The guy there can really harass you. He charged me $174 for 3 extra hours, even though I had the conversation that I’ll be bringing it late and they will adjust the time.He made me call Hertz for credit card issue, where as he sitting there doing nothing with no customer. Very bad experience.

Abby is the rudest individual at this establishment. It amazes me that someone like her could still have a job!! She was rude to me and to another customer that was there. Her tone, attitude and just her demeanor not at all customer friendly. If you dont like your job find another one! All I can say is if u have to deal with her walk away because she will test your patience. The driver that picked me up and the other two fellas that where there are nice and very helpful!! I see this isnt the only complaint on this woman so Management should really look into it. Ive been in the medical field for 15 years and I guarantee if I had that attitude I would have been fired.
11-30 am I called a female answered my call and asked if she could call me back I gave her my name and number and she never called me back. Sad company and customer service skills Id say. No call back wow and shame on her
Ive always received great service from Hertz in Harrisburg, PA. They even picked me up at my house to get the rental and dropped me off after rental return.
Abigail “helped” my family rent a vehicle but she was extremely rude and unhelpful. The disrespect we received from her was absolutely disgusting. Between raising her voice, getting smart, and stomping away to the back, we do not recommend this location to anyone. The man that finished helping us, seeing that Abigail went to have a fit in the back, was extremely helpful, however. I believe his name was James. The woman, though, should not be in customer service much less management.
They picked me up from the garage and brought me to their location where an amazing rental was already reserved for me. Exactly what I wanted and great service. These people rule. This was my second positive experience with them and Ill never go back to the other company again. Thanks to B and Hertz on Paxton in Hbg.

They really worked with me when I my self couldnt get a rental because of my credit. Its a little pricey, but much easier than enterprise! &they offer build your own insurance coverage for the rental. The guy working also helped me out when the price was over my credit cards limit, he got me a weekend coupon &also some other discount. Thank you!

The place is a total ripoff. Your reservation is one price, and then when you show up all the sudden they have no cars, and your price triples. Then they hot you with we are going to hold $200 dollars of your money hostage until you bring the car back! That lovely gem of information was not listed on priceline website. Got into a car accident and I was hit. Not my fault. I was told to get a rental car at this location. So unfortunately, had to give them credit card to hold the car. Completed the transaction several days later. For some odd reason they held onto my card and charged me 200 dollars. When I called them they had no idea and claim it was a mistake. How you can make that big of a mistake Im not sure. I will never return. I reccomend you all do the same
I originally dealt with Hertz Hanover, and I have already left a glowing review for them.The payment method changed mid-rental, requiring I sign another contract, which I did hear in Harrisburg for its proximity to the bodyshop completing my work. Everything went well with the changeover (Thank you!)When it was time to return my rental, I left it at Faulkner Bodyworks. They said that they would return it that evening. I just got a telephone call, however, that it had not been returned. I dont know where communication failed, but the gentleman at Hertz in Harrisburg was most accommodating, and has assured me that this will be resolved with no additional charges.Thank you. This place needs a better selection of cars. Richard doesnt like his job. He thinks i should drive anything because its a loner car. Um no .. Exspecially when the lady behind me gets a better car. Smh. I wont say racist. But what is it??
My experience was pretty straight forward. I went in to rent the car, in person, as opposed to having them pick me up. And after a week, i left the car at the body shop where i had my truck serviced, and they picked it up. No problem.

They didnt show up for a reservation yesterday to pick me up. Not only did I wait for an hour. I called them 15 minutes after the scheduled pick up time and was informed they were on their way. I had to find a ride home from work and a ride to work today. This place service is horrible. I would not recommend this place period. I only chose 1 star because it wouldnt let me post without it.
Had to return cars four times because of poor maintenance. Each time I returned the car with 1/4 tank more gas and they wouldn’t reimburse. I was upgraded by staff and then downgraded by the female manager at Paxton Street! Long wait times with every visit. Seriously, go with a different provider.
I reserved this car about 3 days ahead of time. Paid online, just to find out it wasnt paid. Credit card used wasnt available at the counter, so they couldnt use it for payment. I had to find another payment method.Printed confirmation documents clearly stated the price, in at least two different places, that would have to be paid at the counter. At the counter I was charged a $200 deposit, which, I was told, was mentioned 4 times in the documentation, but not in the confirmation documentation. It was mentioned in the online agreement (very small print), but was not added on to the total to be paid at the counter. If the car was returned with no issues, the $200 would be refunded. WTH? Hertz couldnt add this to the clearly stated amount at the top of the confirmation page? Why do they feel the need to bury it in small print thats not even part of the documentation you print at home?Representative gives us a Kia Soul instead of a Mazda 3, saying no cars are guaranteed, and both cars are in the same class. Well, maybe technically, but not by any driving or comfort standard Ive experienced. We were driving over 1,000 miles, and were not happy to have to do it in a Soul. Lovely cars, Im sure, but not the sedan we were hoping for.Turns out it didnt matter. The Soul pulled sharply to the right, so, upon its immediate return, we were given a Chevy Cruze. It was much more of what we had been expecting. Too bad the previous driver broke the rules and smoked in it, and Hertz didnt get a chance to clean it properly. Oh, and do scheduled maintenance, like an oil change. The light came on while we were 1,000 miles away from home, and Hertz told us it was okay to drive. It was, but it made me pretty nervous.Im not sure Id use this location again.

Had a schedule pick up today with the Hertz located on Paxton st in Harrisburg. I was to be picked at the Hoffman dealership on Jonestown road since my vehicle was scheduled to get collusion repairs. The pick up time for Hertz was 830am. 9am comes around I’m still sitting there. The guy that was helping me at Hoffman apologized for them never showing up and said this is something Hertz does ALL THE TIME and had my claim switched over to enterprise on North mountain road in Harrisburg. I didn’t leave Hoffman till a whole hour later be time everything was said and done ! During that entire time I waited i called Hertz 5 times and they did not answer phone. Save yourself a headache and wasted time & DO NOT GO HERE !

Called and was on hold for the longest time. We were going to them to see if they could fix the mess enterprise got us in but we never got through. What is up with unprofessional businesses in Harrisburg? It seems like most of these franchises open up here just to give you bad service and disappointment you beyond belief.

This place is very dishonest. Had a death in the family and needed to rent a car and was told it would be $70. I went to pick the car up and they then say they needed to do a credit check which would have been if it wasnt for the fact that they already took the $70 out of my account. I also had changed my mind and wanted to take the train b cause of weather conditions....

Hertz on Paxton St., Harrisburg: Didnt show up to a reservation today to pick me up from Sutliff Chevy. No call, nothing. When I call to inquire about this, the local number routes me to a call center that was obviously overseas and had no record of a reservation that was verbally confirmed for me yesterday. Had to get an Enterprise Car and am now late for work. I shouldve been more concerned about all of your terrible reviews. What a garbage company.
Called to get a car at 430pm was told I will be picked up. No one came to get me and no reservation information was in the system under me.

After many phone calls through Enterprise, i gave up and made a reservation with Hertz. Enterprise was refusing to rent to me through insurance because i needed a sideways license. 4 stars because it took a while on hold to get ahold of someone and returning the car took 5 times longer than pickup
Dont forget about their 200$ security fee on top of your actual payment. They give it back but it can be an issue if you dont have the funds to be held while you have the car.
