I purchased a used vehicle that needed some transmission work done that did not show any symptoms at the time of purchase. I specifically worked with Junior who was extremely honest and clear not only about what work needed to be done, but whether or not the work was worth it based on what I paid for the vehicle compared to the cost of the service. Junior gave me clear and honest advice through multiple conversations on the phone and was not pressuring in any way since this was a big decision. His advice and experience working with these vehicles for a long time helped me to make my decision to fix the vehicle and not try to sell it immediately thinking it will be a money pit down the road. Junior also offered to check a couple other major components in the drivetrain to confirm that the transmission fix was worth the time and money to make this vehicle last a very long time. Being a car enthusiast who is very particular about who works on my vehicles, I will be headed back here if there are jobs that I need done that I cannot complete myself.

I was referred to this shop by my family. It is family owned and operated. The owners are very knowledgeable, conscientious and trustworthy. It is not easy to find a good shop you can trust. These guys are fantastic! My first experience was for a 2005 Honda Pilot that had the transmission fail after trans. fluid mixed with coolant. The radiator had to be replaced and the trans. had to be rebuilt. The rebuilt transmission continued to work perfectly for the several years that I still owned the vehicle. I have also had a classic Chevy in for brake work and several odds and ends to be repaired including trans. leak. The brakes stopped much smoother and more evenly after Ace completed the work. They went way above and beyond what was expected on the classic car. Definitely a great place to bring your vehicle! Highly recommended.

If Ace Transmission could get 10+ stars they would and I give 10+ star service. Service is honest, fast and price extremely reasonable. My car is shifting better than I ever have seen or felt and gas MPG up through the roof. I had Ace Transmission rebuild my 2000 Saturn valve body that was badly worn out. This is a repair shop that not out to take your arm, leg, guts and wallet, but repair only what is broken. Ace Transmission you Rock 100%. They took the time to completely inspect the rear end and actually found some damage that would have caused complete failure down the road. I took my car in and Russ was very nice and wrote down all of the problems I was facing with my car. It was close to closing time so they looked at my car the next day and gave me a call around 9:30 in the morning with the codes that came up. Russ also followed up with my dealership to see if my transmission problem was covered under warranty, which it was. When I came to pick up my car he told me the exact codes that popped up and gave me a printed sheet detailing everything. Russ was very helpful and professional. Our 2002 Eurovan broke down in IA. We had it towed to Ace, and within a day of receiving it they diagnosed the problem and fixed it the next day. Explained everything they did. And the price was incredibly fair. Great place.

Maybe they will change the name to Ace Automotive repair because they do full service repairs now. I came across this company about 15 years ago when I needed a new transmission for my 55 Buick. Did an excellent job and a few year later they got my Honda S2000 back in the game with a new transmission as well. Always at a fair price. Im a retired 26 year police officer and the owner Russ is as honest as they come. I recently learned he was doing all types of repairs and a few days later my starter took a dump. Of course I took it to him. Same great service as usual.

The folks at ACE Transmission are true professionals who do right by their clients. I chose this place based on their reviews and brought them my VW Touaregin on a flatbed truck as there were numerous hidden corroded wire connections and broken wire joints. They had my back on the road in less than half the time I thought it would be and was fixed for a fraction of the cost. On top of that they found and repaired an issue I had been chasing for years caused by a wire that had broken within the insulation of the wire itself.Seriously if you need a shop you can trust, this is the place.

Hello to all that are considering Ace Transmission as an option when getting your vehicle taken care of. This family owned business was exactly what i was looking for when I needed my transmission rebuilt on my 2008 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Because this a former Detective Issued Vehicle there are certain parts and performance standards that I must have..hence the reason I purchased my beast in the first place. Ive had my car back for about a week now and I couldnt be happier. She rides like a dream, matter fact better than new! We even added some upgrades and high performance parts. Good people. Great work. I will recommend this place to anyone who is looking for quality work. Word of mouth is the best form of advertising...the word must get out about this place. Fantastic service. My Honda had a bad shudder when driving & was getting worse. Had car in at dealer for another problem & inquired about the shudder and told it was the torque converter. Was like pulling teeth to get information and couldnt get a call back. I contacted Ace Transmission in Hanover Park and spoke with Russ. I knew this Business had been around for many many years. Russ was exceptional. He went over and beyond to explain everything to me and was more than patient with answering all of my questions. I took my car in for a diagnosis and estimate and approved the repair - which was a great decision. This is a family run business and they treat you with great respect. I felt so confident with them. My 1989 car was running sluggish and the passing gears werent working. A different mechanic wanted to replace the fuel injectors which was going to be quite costly. My husband called Russ from Ace transmission for a quote. He was considerably lower. Russ got the car in right away. After looking at it he determined it did not need fuel injectors. It did need a new switch on the transmission. After the repair, the car runs great. If we had the fuel injectors replaced, the car still would not have run right.Thank you Russ!!

Great family business. Very reasonable pricing and trustworthy. These guys really know transmissions.After rebuilding the whole transmission on my Honda Odyssey, the gear was still slipping slightly in low gears. They could have easily told us we were crazy (for a while we thought we were) or that it would be extra. But instead, they spent many extra hours and replaced extra parts to figure out the problem and fix it. Ended up I had a one in a million kind of leak in one of the chambers. Im sure any other transmission shops would have tried to squeeze more money out of me. These guys didnt give up until it was solved.

After being told by the dealership that I needed a complete transmission replacement on my 2011 Ford Edge, I took the vehicle to Russ and his guys at Ace Transmission for a second opinion. Turns out, after putting the vehicle up on the lift and running it through the gears, the vibrating I was experiencing was caused by two bad wheel hubs. Ace saved me over $3000 in unnecessary repairs! Highly recommended for their expertise and honesty.

2 other mechanics tell me I got some pretty bad leaks and would cost over 1.6k... I had 2 leaks and only really need 1 fixed, very nice

Very professional and knowledgeable father and son business. The general public is usually worried about going to a mechanic because they think theyre going to get ripped off. Not here. Rest assured they will get your vehicle in and out in a timely fashion and they cant do it, they know who can. I just had some work done on my 1950 mercury over there. They did a fantastic job! So dont be afraid to bring your Classic or hot rod or daily over there. They get it done and wont take you to the cleaners!

Terrible place. After a second visit the transmission still leaks. They say it happens..... no it doesnt. Thanks for ruined driveway too...I shouldve read the reviews before i brought my truck here, they sound too good, almost like friends and family thing. Seems like 90% of the reviewers needed a lot of lube, flashlight and a rope to get back from the deepness....

I brought my st10 transmission for an estimate. I was told that they will only take the side cover off to determine what it will cost to fix a minor problem with it. After two hours they called me and say it will be almost $1200 to fix it. I told them it is a huge difference from the estimate I got from the different shop and I want to take it there. They got upset and become very rude. When I came back there they gave me my transmission in the box in pieces!!!, as oposed what they told me when I left it for an estimate.Few days later I got the information from the REAL and honest transmission specialist that they forgot to put a few small parts inside the box they gave me back. What they did not forget is to charge me twice for the same invoice. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company.The best part is that I paid less than $400 in parts and labor to put it back together along with the cost of the missing parts I didnt get back from Ace transmission. All it needed was one synchro ring, slider and fork.Please keep shopping, these are dishonest people that get upset when you take your business to other place after estimate. There are other shops in the area that wont rip you off and will give a better service.I would give them negative star if I could for the way they treat customers.

So I dropped off my 2009 Mazda 3 because the trans was shifting hard(Suggested by Just tires) and to find out it was low on trans fluid, unknown to me Sam found it was short 4 qts because of my mess up when I was changing my engine oil I drained the wrong plug, I felt so DUMB so I went out and purchased another 5 qt of engine oil so Sam could replace. All said and done Sam saved the day. Thanks Sam for your service I will definitely use Sam for service again.

Be careful where you go get your transmission fix. I have 08 Silverado grey took it in to get worked on charged me $2000 to fix. And did horrible work . Now my truck won’t run . Oh and I took it two times!!! So be careful !!!!

They did good work mechanically but the preparation of the car was worse then when the tow truck dropped it off I have big scratch under my left headlight and my splash guards were just slammed back into place and they fell off an started scrapping. I mean I’m greatfull for the work but really.

I spent over $1000.00 with three different shops trying to find noise that was so loud I thought I would get stuck somewhere.I was to the point of trading in my Honda pilot.A mechanic from Honda said my differential would have to be replaced and it could be three thousand dollars.Sam from Ace test drove my car and felt very confident he could repair it.Sam replaced a wheel bearing that I paid another shop to replace, we dont know if they did it wrong or just never did the work they charged me for.The problem noise is gone and the works great again!Thanks Sam and Russ for fixing my Honda!Dan

To get something for your vehicle checked out this is the place if yourself wants to make sure a good car will last you for more than a while. Its pricy but it comes in handy.

I would highly recommend Ace Transmission in Hanover Park. My experience: I own a Ford Explorer 4WD. Based on the recommendation of Sams Club, I replaced 2 of the tires and had problems ever since. The car would shudder, I had various sounds coming from the transfer case, differential and even the front wheel bearing. I took my truck to Schaumburg Automedics to have the issue diagnosed. I was told that the differential, transfer case and wheel bearing all needed to be replaced at a cost of $5,193.85. Based on this cost, I wanted a 2nd opinion and thank god, someone referred me to Ace Transmission in Hanover Park. I spoke to Sam, who first off, volunteered to drive me home when I dropped off the truck. On my ride home, Sam and I discussed the issues I had been experiencing. Sam’s suggestion was that I first replace the other 2 tires which could possibly solve my problem; it would also avoid any damage to parts he may need to replace. I took Sam’s advice to replace the other 2 tires and that solved the problems. Sam – hats off to you!!! It is nice to know that we still have some HONEST, hardworking people in this world. Everyone who knows me would tell you that I am a tough critic; I hope you understand the weight of my comments. I will recommend ACE Transmission in Hanover Park to all my family and friends who are in need of your services.Heads up to the rest: Never replace just 2 tires on a 4WD/all-terrain vehicle, the difference in the wheel size due to tread wear will cause the wheels to spin at different rates and cause these types of issues. – Happy Female in Streamwood.
