I am visiting from out of town and must say that I am so glad to be a member of planet fitness. It is important for me to keep up my workout regime whenever I am and this gym location is clean, courteous, and comfortable. The selection of machines, the virtual training, the convenient QR codes that help to show you how to use the equipment are all a gigantic plus. Even though I am away, I feel at home with planet fitness.

If youre tight on money and still wanna workout then its a good deal. Although sometimes I go and its so crowded that I just leave because I dont want to waste my time waiting for machines or weights. Definitely not a bad place though.

Hands down the worst Planet fitness staff ever. They make everything insanely difficult. I was recently displaced from my home in New Orleans by Hurricane Ida. I attempted to upgrade my membership in the app so I could use the Hampton, VA gym but the app would not let me upgrade. I went to the gym and they could not help me upgrade either. Instead of letting me use the gym until they fixed THEIR PROBLEM, they insisted that I pay $5 a day to use the gym until I was able to resolve their issue. (key word being I because they had no intention of helping solve the issue. I was basically on my own). I cant even begin to explain the frustration of trying to workout to cope with having your life turned upside down by a natural disaster and having the planet fitness staff speak to you with cavalier uncaring attitude that clearly conveys that they dont value me as a customer or a person. Note: I havent even gotten into the fiasco that I went through with them last year in 2020. But that is a story for another time.

Worse PF Ive ever been to. It is small, EXTREMELY over crowded, which makes it very hard to have a meaningful work out unless you are a runner. Threadmills always available. if you do anything other than pretend to be a hamster on a hamster wheel, avoid this PF and go to the other PF in Newport News. Machines seem in better shape and you get a much better vibe instead of taking a number just to get on any machines or free weights.

I havent been in a few months bc covid. Staff was very helpful in downloading and setting up the app. 10/10

Well its only day 2. But I am enjoying a lot of the amenities of Planet Fitness.

Hampton Planet Fitness is great, never too busy, lots of selections for work out equipment and the staff is always pleasant.

Clean, no judgement zone. Super friendly and helpful staff. Lots of perks. Well worth the monthly membership.

Was the perfect time of day to go for someone whose just started! Not allot of ppl so it wasnt overwhelming :)

Very friendly staff. Two stars for safety & the contract. It’s crowded all the time and I see many members walking around with no masks. They should only allow a certain amount of people in at a time or open back up to 24 hours. In my opinion, there aren’t enough machines or space to workout. The machines are ancient and I don’t like that this planet fitness makes you sign a 12 month term contract with a buy out of $58. I just moved here from GA and I have been a member at 2 planet fitnesses there and none have term contracts with a buy out. I’d rather pay the extra for safety and space.

They employees are very welcoming and professional. The gym is clean with plenty of equipment. We usually go during non-peak hours.

Definitely love the clean atmosphere. With the current pandemic, they are really dedicated to keeping the building/machines clean. They provide hand sanitizer at all the cleaning stations. Mask are worn when walking around gym. I feel safe working out. I am proactive about wiping the machines before and after Ive use them for the added piece of mind. I dont want to solely rely on the last persons efforts (if any)

I think this is a good gym to keep in shape or get into shape. They do not have any flat benches is only thing I don’t like. The staff is very friendly and professional.

Pretty good. Everyone’s really nice. Lots of cleaning protocol. Generally not that many people after 5pm most days. The only thing is there’s no weightlifting areas, only smith machines. I would say it’s worth the money

Love it but when are you going back to 24 hours? The people want to know!!!!!

Nice staff but very small. Also, no one watches the 30 minute area. Most of the members go inside this area and sit on machines or occupy machines for several rounds. Since the 30 minute area is unique and meant for people who will do it the right way, other members who are not using this area correct should not be in it. Its so frustrating also I havent seen a trainer at this location.

I had to cancel my membership within 20 days of buying one. I thought I was going to have to pay an annual fee but they didn’t charge me! I talked to the lady at the front desk and she said they won’t charge me. Very great customer service.

They dont enforce their own mask policy.(1/9) They have since posted lots of signs, but make no effort to enforce policy. Multiple people congregate at a cleaning station without masks, presumably breathing hard from working hard. Hampton has the highestcovid positivity test rate in the state, > 25%.

I had to go to this location when our NN location remodeled (floor). They were super nice! Clean and the staff were super friendly! The only thing for me was how small they were. NN has a lot more room. I dont like feeling like Im so close to someone while Im working out.

Layout of the gym needs attention. Of the PF gyms we have visited across the US, this ranks in the lower 3rd.

We love our PF. Jay welcomed us professionally but with the utmost courtesy. He has become someone we look forward to seeing each morning. We love this place.

Update: COVID-19 is airborne, how is allowing people to exercise without a mask safe? And how is wearing flip flops on a stationary bike unsafe? Yeah, I definitely made a mistake🙄.Just started working out here and Im not sure I will keep my membership. A lot of people dont wear their masks while working out which isnt normal for all the other Planet Fitness Ive been to during the pandemic. Due to this, I only use the exercise bike. Today, I was turned away because I had on flip flops which is my athletic gear for riding a bike. So yeah, this may not have been a good decision for me. Ill keep trying it for another 30 days before I make my final decision.

So great to get back in the gym. Im working on working off that COVID weight! Friendly staff and even with the COVID rules like every other piece of equipment in use theres always something available.

I usually go to the one on West Norfolk Rd so this was my first time going here. The staff was really nice but the facility itself is just too small and congested considering where its located. No many stations were opened so we just left after 45mins.

Massage beds and massage chairs and tanning always a friendly staff here. Very clean and quite. Always accommodating and professional. Great location. Really awesome staff.

Dominique is the best! I’ve had an issue with my account due to COVID and also a mistake made within their staff.. Was dealing with the issue since about March of this year. First day speaking to her she helped and got my account back into good standards with no problems, attitude or run arounds! She was a great help and was very much appreciated! Besides that, the gym isn’t bad, smaller than most other locations but never had a bad experience their. Staff is friendly!

Much cleaner than the Langley AFB Fitness Centers; and it has equipment spaced with more room. Just keep in mind this isnt Golds Gym. If youre looking for a clean and quiet place to workout, you cant beat it for $10.00 a month. If some of the equipment was a but newer I would have rated it 5 stars. Newer does not imply whats there wont get the job done...lol

Fairly unique setup as far as planet fitness goes. Ive been to alot of them and this one has a nice groove to the equipment setup

Clean, staff is friendly. You get a lot for the cheap price. I wish it was a little more spacious. Going with a group of friends and trying to work out together is challenging at times in my opinion. Im considering checking out the other facilities to see if they have more room to walk around. They need more open space.

I’ve had my black card membership for over 6 years. And I’ve always showed up to the gym to work out between 11pm and 2am I’ve been paying for over a year now without y’all being 24 hours anymore. Should I cancel my membership or are you going back to 24 hours anytime soon?

Military personnel here went to cancel my membership because I’m getting stationed somewhere else and they charged me $58 to cancel. When I signed up they never told me there would be a cancellation fee... I will never go to another planet fitness ever again.

Worst Planet Fitness Ive ever been to. Makes me appreciate my home gym. Some of the machines missing the numbers for the weights. The dial on the machine missing the plate so you dont even know how much you are lifting. The shower is busted. Is that hard to replace a shower head. Too many machines for that small of a place. Not room to navigate. I did like the digital scales.

Horrible customer service. There is a power outage currently and their systems are down. I wanted a bottle of water because their water fountains are taped because of rona. Well they wouldn’t sell a bottle to me because their systems are out. They should have basic decency to either take down my details and charge me later or give a water bottle away for free. I’ve been a black card member for a year. Is this how you treat your customers? Even thru the coronavirus I didn’t cancel my membership knowing that I knew I was going to come back once it opens. But this sort or customer service training makes me reconsider my business here.

Great value, good atmosphere for working out, friendly staff. Locker rooms are always clean, showers are available. Many different options for a workout program so theres something for everyone. I only wish they would enforce the no cell phone rule a little more. Very distracting to have to hear someones phone conversation while you are in the middle of the gym.

Awesome staff but terrible location. Probably the smallest planet fitness I have ever been to and it’s frustrating when you have to leave 20-30 min early because there is no room to finish your workout. I guess there’s no reason for this comment since they can’t just add on, but if you’re not big on crowds choose another location.

This gym do not have the machines hooked up/ linked to LF Connect but the VA Beach gym does. I guess Hampton members do not get the same treatment.

All machines are in the verge of being put in a museum. Way to small of a place.

I am cancelling my membership asap. This location told me I cant bring my jug of water to work out due to image. Sounds like this company cares more about itself than clients. If I pay membership, I should be able to workout at my own comfort ability with my jug of water, or Gatorade or etc. Extremely stupid rule and unfriendly staff. Onelife just gained my business....

Was denied a new key card my keycard is broken dont like the app takes too long to open. Commented on my gallon of water not knowing that I keep it in my locker and refill the small bottle I was carrying.. killed my gym vibe. If you see me with it on the floor then say something.

Its not your typical gym. People are on the equipment, using their phones. More than exercising. Guys in the locker room taking pictures, some clothed, some not. The staff sees these things and doesnt say anything.Thinking about cancelling membership. Only reason i havent cancelled yet, is because it stays open 24/7.

I love the no judgement zone concept. There is ample equipment and trainers to assist you to get started. The massage beds, and chairs are awesome after your workouts. It is a very friendly environment. I am just starting and looking forward to obtaining great results.

It’s certainly cheap, you have to give them that.It also smells. Could use a good cleaning. I did not feel welcome. Didn’t see any security in the parking lot. Located at the end of a largely unoccupied strip mall, next to nail salon. Bring your own padlock if you are going to use the lockers. A tiny bathroom for the 100-200 people that are there during the rush hour. No pool, tanning consists of a few dated stand up booths. But, on the upside, it is cheap. They have plenty of machines, although during 5-8 pm or so, it’s not enough. Seems more like a social club, and if that’s your thing then give it a shot.

Very cool place every one very nice and very help full wish I didnt work so much so I could come more often. It is really the most affordable gym especially for familys and the tvs and music are very entertaining..Those guys are the Bomb, thank you for all you do!

Not open 24 hours

The staff at night is the best, friendly and helpful, bathrooms seems clean, all machines are functional, I will appreciate if you can put wet wipes like other gyms, the hard paper towels and the spray doesnt clean the machines properly.

Gym is great and clean. The problem is with Planet Fitness opening your membership for $1 and a week later taking out $21.99 after you specifically asked if that would happen and being told no that the first monthly membership payment will not be till the following month. Theft is theft no matter how you look at it, when you have an employee look in your eyes and lie that is so sad.

Wish it was bigger. Staff are nice and very helpful. As always you got people that dont abide by the rules of 30 min circuit training but that happens everywhere.

I just recently joined and so far love most things about the gym- especially in comparison to working out at home all the time! Its very clean, affordable, the front desk staff are super nice, and I love the equipment they have. However, there is not a whole lot of empty space for working out with free weights or doing any floor work. Feels like Im on top of people trying to stretch. I signed up for the 30 minute training session to create a personalized plan for myself and I felt kind of gypped...despite the whole questionare and brief conversation I had with my trainer before going into the workout, he still gave me very basic, self explanatory workouts with very little enthusiasm. I totally couldve done that myself, Im not new to working out. He was still nice! Just didnt seem interested in actually creating a workout for ME and not just a default for any person that walks in. Otherwise, Im enjoying it!

The staff is great here !!! The only problem I have are the patrons who are chained to their cell phones. Im trying to get my workout in and someone comes along, sits down at a machine, and starts playing with their phone. Did you come to exercise or play with your phone all day ???!!! Oh well, I guess thats to be expected for $10 a month. Oh. And the music is certainly not ear-shattering. At least not when Im there.

The gym offers a wide array of equipment to help get your body in shape. Clean, friendly staff and lots of equipment. It does get very busy at certain times of the day, so I try different times. Open 24 hours!

I find it easy to pop in, stay however long I choose - and leave unnoticed. The whole atmosphere works and I have all the machines I need.

Unreliable and disinterested staff. One of the reasons I joined this gym was to get access to the personal trainer benefits and over the course of a month I’ve scheduled 6 appointments with the trainer and every time I arrive on time and they tell me the appointment has been canceled or the trainer isn’t in today. I haven’t received advanced notice of the cancellation any time. They tell me “he’ll definitely be here next time” and he never is. I scheduled an appointment at 6 p.m. on a Monday for the very next day and was assured I’d have my appointment but when I arrived he again wasn’t here. Worse yet the staff is dismissive of my frustrations.

I, like most people, want to listen to my own music when I work out. It’s nearly impossible to do so at Planet Fitness. They play their music ear shatteringly loud and say they can’t turn it town when I ask. I had to purchase noise cancelling headphones to hear my own music and it’s still not enough. I am searching for a new gym and will cancel my membership when I do.

Staff were not enforcing masks. People were walking around without a mask on at all. There were so many people there along with way too many people not wearing masks. We left.

I think this place is lovely. friendly staff, and i get what i feel i need out of the place. showers are always clean which is important for me cause my water situation at home is rocky so this is the only place i can get showers. get a good work out, a hot shower, and free wifi open 24 hours a day. can’t beat it!

Well, I have been a member of planet fitness on and off. I recently signed up again to see if things have changed. I like planet fitness I think that the machines are good and they have enough equipment, but I dont feel safe. When I used to go to planet fitness I had a man watch me workout the entire time I was there. He would sit in the 30 minute circuit area and watch, but Im going to let the managers know like you suggested. Thanks for responding.

Do yourself a favor and go to YMCA. The Y has better equipment, nicer crowd, better front desk, better management, kid friendly, elderly friend, has a pool, and did I mention the employees on the floor actually know how to use the equipment? Thats right! Gym Employees who actually work out and have experience using the equipment they are suppose to manage. Me and several others who are currently at the Y used to attend this planet fitness location regularly. The staff has changed and it is not in a good way.

I absolutely love this place. All their equipment is nice and I feel they have a good variety of things. Lots of treadmills and other cardio machines. The biggest thing Ive noticed about this planet fitness is that they are ALWAYS cleaning. They absolutely scrub the place. I see the same cleaning lady every night (idk how many times they actually clean everyday cause I only go at one time) and they are cleaning the entire time Im there. They even lift the treadmills and vacuum underneath them. Ive been a member for almost two years and I dont plan on leaving any time soon.

I have been attending this gym for over a year now, I have been a Planet fitnes member for 5. I like how close it is to work, yet the 30 minute without room isnt utalized properly. Every time I attempt to do a quick workout theyre are always people that do not understand red light green light. Ive told the front desk they make excuses and nothing is ever done. Also Ive signed up for classes and time and time again the class is cancelled without prior knowledge. So when I show up they tell me that they are looking for a new trainer, there needs to be a way to set this up online before I book the class. Ive brought friends with me that all sign up to later be dissatisfied that they cannot workout and eventually give up and cancel because theyre not getting what was promised with the black card membership. This location specifically does not feel safe to me, Ive also complained about people marking equipment with personal items when they walk away to socialize. If your not in the machine then you shouldnt be able to mark it with a water bottle etc., Then come up to me asking me to move. It feels like jail. I will not be returning to this location.

Boot camp starts early(silent grind), gets a little hood after 2: 30p more vocal an song earplugs outburst. But good gym overall

Great place to work out for the average person. I started going because its open 24 hours and the price is right. Ive been in at all times day and night and every one of the staff is really friendly and the place is always really clean including the locker room and bathroom . Good atmosphere if you are just trying to lose some weight or get/stay in shape, but not if youre looking to compete in bodybuilding competitions.
