I have been going to them for years. They have an old school vibe with very knowledge service. I have never been unsatisfied with their workmanship. They have a wide variety of vintage equipment to include that vinyl smell. Kind of like a cigar shop for audio equipment smell. I love it. I am always surprised by what I find there lurking in the shadows or tucked away in stacks of equipment. One recommendation i would have is a few chairs and a coffee table to just talk shop. Then it would rather a score of 10.
I have been trying to find a competent professional to return my Magnovox Imperial stereo system that I purchased in 1971 to its original glory. I found my contact, Mark, and his partners at Don Jones. They exceeded all my expectations at a reasonable cost. They love what they do so well and it shows.
Incredible experience with Don Jones all around. From the moment I stepped in Mark was over the top helpful and knowledgeable. I went in looking to purchase a record player, reciever and speakers and after showing me the basic entry level setup I was sold. But Mark knew he could do better for me and insisted I wait a week so he could try to find something else that would match what I wanted perfectly. A week later I had my new setup which was cheaper than the initial setup we looked at. So happy with my purchase and will recommend them to anybody.
This place is unbeatable. I have been a collector of old records for over 4 decades, and hence have needed old phonographs, tuners and amplifiers repaired. Don Jones Stereo, in my experience, has been able to repair items that others have not (those others being in the NYC area). I am thrilled to have found this place. His prices are reasonable.
Always helpful in getting hard to find items. Staff is very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with.
I have been a customer here for a little over a year and Don and Mark are wonderful guys to work with. Mark is over repairs and is very friendly and honest and will do his best to get your equipment working. I have had a couple turntables repaired here and they work great. Not only that, but they have really cool gear for sale and quality records. Overall a great place to go for your vintage equipment repair needs.
A audiophile or gear head would love the selections. The staff is way 😎 🆒️
A couple weeks ago I brought my record player in so I could get it checked out. I thought my needle was broken but it was the cartridge too. I came in about 10 minutes before close and they both stayed 20 minutes after to help get my record player working again. Two great people work here and I’d recommend anyone to come here if they need help with their record player.
If youre looking for vintage stereo equipment this place has it all, but dont expect him to give it away. Hes very expensive.
This is an awesome stereo store. If you have anything vintage that needs a repair or if youre looking for vinyl records and Lazar discs or looking for vintage equipment, this is your place. Mark is honest and extremely knowledgeable about repair and his expertise in vintage things is outstanding. I highly recommend them.
Amazing place for repairs or if you are interested in purchasing audio equipment. Amazing selection of classic equipment that you probably cant find anywhere else. They also do a great job with repairs. They cleaned and fixed my old turntable in less than 24 hours. Works perfect now. Definitely check this place out.
Nice work on my 42 year old preamp.
Had a pair of older speakers repaired at Don Jones stereo repair. They did a great job.I would recommend Don Jones for stereo repair to anyone.
Had my old Pioneer sx 3800 serviced sounds great again. Did a great job looks and sounds fantastic. Nothing like old school stereo for music.
Don Jones Custom Stereo is one of the very few places you can have your reel to reel tape deck serviced in South Carolina without having it shipped. It isnt exactly close to where I live, but I feel a lot more comfortable driving my vintage gear to the shop than I do packing it up and trusting strangers to handle it properly. They do a good job. They honor their warranties. They listen to and address your concerns. They are happy to work from any schematics or other documentation you provide. They are mindful of your budget for any given project. There is a high demand for their services, so some things take a while to complete, but they typically tell you that up front. They are pretty accommodating, dealing with them is pleasant. They have a huge assortment of vintage gear, mid-fi to high end, from run of the mill used to boutique. They sell new gear too. I watched them put together a system for a college kid that consisted of a new Denon turntable, a vintage Pioneer receiver, and Large Advent speakers. The kid was blown away. His mouth was literally hanging open in surprise when they cranked it up. It was fun to watch.
Great company.
Did a great job on my turntable at a very reasonable price.
Very helpful and great service. Top notch. If youre knowledgeable and know how to fix your electronics you can save money by fixing it yourself. Here you can be confident that you are buying high-quality already maintenanced equipment. Prices are middle of the road to high. Depending on what you are looking for pricing with vary. NOT flea market pricing.
My husband absolutely loves going to Don Jones when he is looking for a vintage piece of equipment or when he needs a repair on a piece. Don and Mark are extremely knowledgeable and can help you find what you are looking for. Definitely worth a visit.
I had a 1946 Philco Radio that needed repairing and Don Jones did an amazing job! Apart from restoring the radio they were also able to add an aux input so that I could add Bluetooth. It did take some time to repair, but it was done so well!
Cool shop lots of choices
Fixed my Mcintosh stereo. Diagnosed within a day or so. Ordered and repaired unit for a small upfront deposit. Paid repair balance on pick up. Unit sounds great again.
Took in my Large Advents which needed to be re-foamed. Mark did an excellent job and they sound like new. Highly recommend Don Jones to anyone who needs to get their old equipment repaired.
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They know thier stuff! Lots of great equipment and fair prices.
Don Jones fixed a very old CD player for a great price. Five Stars for them.
You can tell that they care about their customers.
I found Don Jones Stereo on a web search trying to find someone to repair my turntable. I took it to their store and was blown away at what a mess the store is. Looking past the mess, Mark told me he could try to fix my turntable. He made some remarks about how my Panasonic turntable was built poorly and theres no guarantee that he can fix it. All the while, he seemed annoyed to have to help me. Needless to say the customer service isnt good. I gave the $30 deposit for repairs and went on my way. A week later, Mark called and said he spent 3 hours trying to fix it but he could not fix it. He did everything he could do fix it, or so he says. I picked up the unit and went home. Aggravated that it couldnt be fixed, I decided to take it apart myself and attempt to fix it. Once I had it open, it took me less than 5 minutes to see where the problem was and fix the problem. I bypassed the automatic function on the turntable and it now works like a charm.I do not recommend Don Jones Custom Stereo for any repairs on stereo components. I consider my experience with Don Jones as theft. If Mark knew what he was doing, he could have seen the problem and addressed it with me before giving up. In the end, I paid $30 for him to spend 3 hours to tell me he cannot fix it, and then I end up fixing it myself in less than 5 minutes.Think twice before giving these folks any of your money or attention.
Great place have been buying from then since the 70s if they dont have it they will get it they are very knowledgeable
Nothing but professional. mark is a world class tech/person. making miracles happen. never a disappointment. always have what we need in there.
Great service loads of vintage stereo stuff
Don Jones Stereo did a great job of rebuilding my vintage H.H. Scott amp and tuning up my turntable.Id recommend them for any work!
A wide variety of audio/video equipment. Also repairs
Ive known Don Jones since the 1960s in Plainfield, NJ. He personally sold my family appliances, radios, and (back then) hi fi sets. My family was pleasantly surprised to know Don relocated to Greenville, SC, as we did in 1970. I have been doing business with Don since then, purchasing both new and used equipment. Mark is one of the best technicians Ive had the pleasure to work with, as well as being very knowledgeable about current audio equipment. Hes repaired some of my aging stereo equipment receiving no complaints from me. I may be prejudiced in my rating, but it spans over fifty years of relationship with no negative experiences.
Great place to go for vintage audio!!
I would highly recommend Don Jones Custom Stereo. I left my Sansui QRX5500 with them, they told me they would look at it and give me an estimate in an week, this they did, then after I accepted, they told me it would be about a week to complete the repairs, this they did also. My Sansui sounds like new, Don Jones went over and beyond what I had hoped for, and I will be bringing each piece of my system in for long over due service. I am very pleased with the whole transaction.
I took an old amp to the store, and was required a $50 down payment. They told me it would be fixed before the end of the next week if they didnt need parts for it. They did, and its been over a month and weve not gotten any calls from them, even though they said theyd call us when its ready.
These guys are amazing. Thank you!😎
He fixed a flat screen Samsung after a lightening storm. Price may be a little high but very prompt and good service
