Our family’s favorite to go to place for fun filled weekend and holidays as we enjoy the decent drive from Houston since we moved three years ago.A great atmosphere, clean and well maintained space. A great family and kids friendly place during each event they decorate the best and they nail it.Food selection and restaurants is decent as per the resort beautiful layout.Highly recommend it for families in particular
We really enjoyed our stay. It was such a fun atmosphere and the beds was so comfortable. The rooms were very clean and the ac worked great. The only reason I gave it four stars is the food choices. We ended up going elsewhere for our meals. After eating lunch and dinner a couple days in a row here we decided to leave the park and go into town for our meals. But everything was wonderful. We loved all the activities.
It’s fine and all that but like why is parking $22 a day???? My car better be parked on gold and getting filled up with only the best gasoline. That’s my opinion 😁
Absolutely beautiful Resort! My hubby and I visited from NOLA from the Hurricane & had an amazing time. Everything was closely located near the resort including Main Street & various types of eateries very close. We definitely plan to visit other Gaylord properties if Jesus tarries. Lol. ***I added two San Antonio pictures by accident***
Loved it! Beautiful place to stay and play. Restaurants are excellent. In December, they are having there Christmas ice sculpture displays. And from the pictures I saw. Its very beautiful.
Loved it! Great place for the kids and adults who like to do activities. They have an Escape Room, painting sessions, cooking classes, pool, sauna, spa, weight room/gym, restaurants and stores. Also, they have an indoor and outside pool, and a Jacuzzi. Its beautifully decorated and its worth exploring. Our rooms were clean and nice and nice, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. We had a view from our room balcony that gave an outside feel but we were in doors. Its very relaxing and fun at the same time. I really enjoyed the free access to the water park even though I think it is more so for the kids, but I enjoyed the lazy river! I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it.
Never had a bad time here. Stayed in the resort several times. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEIR SPA!! And the restaurants are fantastic. Hickory Steak is a good high end steak house if youre looking. Pricey but fancy. Must dress nice.
Excellent place!! I recommend you take your family here and or take a romantic little getaway. The personnel at the spa were my favorite. Amazing and pleasant people! The food at the restaurants in the resort itself are not great but you must try at least one for the full experience! The decorations are breathtaking. Enjoy
Worth the cost, great resort. The pool was amazing and the property is well maintained. Valet is also worth the cost!
My first visit to this beautiful resort. How great it was to be part of a beautiful event that took place in this beautiful venue. I found this place to be massive with a feel like you are in the mountains. It was nice and clean and everybody that worked here was extremely nice and helpful. Even though I did not stay here. I would recommend the stay. I am sure you will not be disappointed. I hope to one day to stay here. Happy travels.
Unfortunately it’s not anywhere close to any other Marriott we stay at. The amount of restaurants for the size of the resort is extremely limited, with what you pay for your family for any breakfast, lunch or dinner you can fly from DFW to Cancun and stay at any Marriott down there with excellent service, food, and five stars rooms. The water park it’s nice if they really enforced the amount of people that can be there, extremely crowded and not good for teenagers. The resort is way to big for the amount and sizes of their pools, they were all extremely crowded. And like most other people that didn’t like their restaurants I totally agreed with everyone and everything negative they said, price, quality and service didn’t match.
Motel 8 size outdoor pool for 10,000 rooms. Love having to wait for an hour to get shuttle to paradise pool cause it is too far to walk and waiting in another line when I arrive so they can check bag for outside food and drink. Love having to wait 1 hour for coffee in the morning. Love 1 hour long check in line. Love paying 200 to 300 a room and still getting charged 22 a day to park. If you like to overpay to stand in lines, this is the place for you. I really dont understand why people stay here.
Stayed here for a convention. I would rate this as a three star hotel. There were only 2 food options as one of the options was closed. The bed was uncomfortable and the bedding was not great. The service was good from the dining restaurants, front desk and in room dining but the food was way too expensive, terribly overpriced. If the beds were more comfortable with better bedding, I would have considered a three star hotel.
I really enjoyed my stay. It was packed with people, but it was beautiful for sure. Great and nice staff.. Very kind and accesible. The place is huge, definitely have your map for the first days.My trip was for business but I definitely can bring my family for next time. Lots of activities for the kiddos. I would advise to make reservations for dinner or use the app for pickup or room service. The room was spacious and clean. The mattress could be improved. Despite of being close to the elevator, it was relatively quiet.Overall a great experience!
We will come back. Good restaurants, happy staff... very helpful.
I love this hotel, I really do. But I just find it in such a poor taste that they put zip tie to the chairs by the pool. This is a new practice because I’ve visited the hotel before and this was not in place. My thing is if you want to charge an additional $20-30 dollars per room per night, or make it a must to open up a tab to order food/drinks to be seated, or raise the price of the food, then that would be fine, although not ideal. But to go inside the Waterpark area and have no where to sit because all the chairs and locked with a zip tie, I just find that unnecessary and not in par with the price paid at the hotel or the quality of the resort. I would expect this at the holiday inn or motel 8. I wish they’d stop so I can update my review and focus on the positive things. It’s just not a good look.
We have been going to the Gaylord fir a few years now and have always been very happy with everything. Unfortunately, our family trip to celebrate my daughter’s 9th birthday was not so pleasant. We arrived on Saturday, August 21, 2021, and headed to Paradise Springs shortly after checking in. It was fairly full at approximately 4pm, but that was not the issue. The issue was the trash, disposable masks on the ground, flat tubes laying around, not enough tubes, lockers were closed, and the employees lounging around in the kitchen side. There were buckets of empty beer cans all around the edge of the pool area. As we were leaving I noticed the kitchen staff lounging at the pick side of the kitchen on their phones. One employee was eating some sort of snow cone and he was washing his hand using the water from the fountain drink machine. That was not very sanitary as that is the machine used to fill cups with soda. I know times are tough with hiring but there were plenty of employees not taking the initiative or someone directing them to help clean up the trash. As guests we pay good money to relax and enjoy the amenities but that was not what happened on our visit.
Just checked in, not impressed! Room is small and bland. But the worst part is our view from our room, garbage and old rusty chairs. Would rather have stayed in a Holiday Inn. Certainly will not be back!
My family & I really enjoyed this place. We visited here during our family Christmas vacation from Oklahoma. It was really packed but our kids still had a good time. We went on Christmas Day & we’re glad we did. Calling customer service with a slight problem I had (my fault) before attending was a breeze & the lady was very helpful & understanding. She made me feel so much better & gave great customer service. Our kids enjoyed the rides/activities. We’ll definitely be back for Christmas again as well as for summer activities. Can’t wait!
For me the hotel experience is all about service. I was very disappointed that upon arrival I found out that the water park seating was by reservation only. I could not find any notification informing my family of this. The water park was such horrible service that they could not even close out the bill. The ether just didn’t know how to close a ticket. I waited for about 30 minutes at the bar and finally left. Poor management to let someone be at the bar and not know this very crucial step. All restaurants at the hotel were completely full so our last minute weekend staycation left us ordering only room service instead of the dining options available from a large resort.I would expect more from a suite-guest. The front desk was very knowledgeable and helpful. Staff was friendly. Just too many teenagers running the water park with no manager to be found. Overall disappointing. I will return and I hope my experience next time will be better with weeks of advanced planning. For you weekend warriors who want to getaway, this is not the place.
Positive: Great atmosphere with plenty of amenities. Negative: Very limited with activities and offerings during the week. The water park and outdoor pool were closed for what was communicated would be a brief time due to lightning in the area but then they did not reopen at all that evening with plenty of time left.
Ive never had a worse night in a hotel. I arrived well after check in to find my room was not ready. I was told they could put me in a Special Needs room and I said that was fine. They put me in a room facing the atrium and next to a very busy elevator that whirred all night long. Not that I was getting any sleep as the people, piano bar, and off-tune singing in the atrium kept me up. I was here for a work conference and could barely stay awake for the important information. Why would anyone think this place is a good idea? Straight garbage.
The property and amenities are amazing.Staff is amazing. However, for the price point I think the room could be updated some. The walls need better sound proofing, I could hear everything. The doors slam so they need to add some sort of dampener on them. The bathroom is dated and not on the same scale as the rest of the hotel.Amazing stay! Truly.Just has to not pick for such a high nightly rate
Excellent place. Its reminded me of a hotel in Vegas. The pool is great but the water park they have is better. They have a wine bar in the hotel too, which I needed after dealing with kids at the water park all day. We didnt eat at any of the restaurants there but we plan on returning to do a couples weekend trip, so Im sure we will on our return. Overall, its a very, very, very nice hotel.
Unfortunately the Gaylord did not live up to expectations. The parking situation was bleak at best, and only good thing was it was covered parking. But too far from the actual hotel, so meant lugging everything to the front desk, then the long walk to our room. Upon our arrival, the noise levels were unbearable, and people were everywhere. Not the welcome we wanted. Room was on par with a Holiday Inn, again not what you’d expect for the price. If this happens to be your last option, all I can say is sorry. Look harder.
If I can give zero or negative star, I will. We stayed there for 3 nights and on the second day, our room key didn’t work because they check us out. So we spent a lot of time on getting new rooms keys when my kids are very tired. Then after coming back home, I found they charge me twice for three nights because they checked me in again on the second day. Ridiculous and never heard they said sorry fo this. I still didn’t get my money back. It’s should be scam from this hotel. For the facilities, if you give it 5 starts, you must never go to real resorts in other countries. Please don’t call yourself resort. This facilities make it funny. It’s just like 3 stars hotel but you pay money for 5 starts.
I ended up stuck here one night due to a flight delay. There were no hotels anywhere except here and I was pleasantly surprised of how beautiful the place was when I arrived. The bed was super comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful. Highly recommend staying here for the experience and the relaxing environment
Went for dinner at Zeppole. Food was good, atmosphere was OK, staff did a great job. They validated my parking at the restaurant which was nice as well. Altogether we had a nice night.
Positive: It is clean and there is something so magical about it. It is family friendly but there is such a good mix of all different folks that visit that it is always a wonderful experience. Negative: The waterpark that is an amenity of the hotel made you choose a time slot to visit & you had to leave once it was up or pay.
Upon arrival I had high hopes for this hotel and stay. I was here for a work conference. The rooms are just okay, the beds are so cheep and so are the pillows. The water stinks (like has a smell from the shower and sink). Stained towels. The room with ice and vending machine with drinks had mold all over the walls. Don’t plan on sleeping because the noise from the atrium is soooo loud. I would not stay here again.
I want to give negative star if I can. We stayed there for three nights and on the second day, we were checked out during the day time and when we came back, I cannot go into the room when my kids are very tired. It took long time to get the new room keys. Its very disappointing and they never feel sorry for this. After coming back, we found they charge us twice because they checked us in again on the second day to get the new room key. After contacting Marriott, they sent the refund request to the hotel last week but still didnt get the response from the hotel. Actually, this hotel scam you with terrible service. Last time, I left opinion on Google but it disappeared after the day I posted. You need to know what this hotel provides. We are Marriott VIP but very very disappointed about this hotel.
A top of the line hotel with a spacious air conditioned, covered plaza, which you really need in a hot state like Texas. You can enjoy walking outside without the weather.
Checked in & was quoted $1,500 per night for a suite that Reagan at front desk said was 2 bedroom with 3 baths, turned out to be 1 bedroom & 1.5 baths. Next morning breakfast took 2.5 hours to receive after they quoted 1 hour, arrived 11:30 am. Saturday afternoon at waterpark, it was so packed with guests we couldnt find a place to sit, they dont tell you they give away more passes than the number of chairs they have. Final icing on cake..... get my credit card bill & they charged $2,024 per night plus taxes totaling $2,386.56 for the suite! I have called & email about the billing issue & no response. Wow, that was so fun!!! Its a aging property with lots of issues.
5/5 This place was really cool, it was way more interesting and ornate than I was expecting from photos that I had seen. As far as accommodations go I was just here for a dinner and did not go in the rooms but from the quality of the lobby and scenery around, I can tell this is a five star accommodation. But its just really cool to walk into the huge greenhouse with walking paths and restaurants and cool sites to see in the huge atrium area and to know that its all indoors and all part of one campus. I know they have a lot of conventions here and I can see why, this is definitely a very cool destination.
I had my birthday party at the Gaylord Texan. The hotel, all amenities, restaurants, spa and water park, etc are all 5 plus star. Everyone from the front desk staff to the room service concierge were amazing. I cant write enough great things about the Gaylord. Going back for my daughters birthday in a few weeks. They know how to pamper you and make you feel special. Highly recommend!!!!
Hotel was beautiful and lots for the children to see, but everything is just so over the top expensive. If you plan to go to the Waterpark, bring your own sunscreen. We forgot, and a small bottle was $24. A few snacks and drinks at the market was $31. The breakfast buffet for 2 adults and 2 kids who barely eat was $150. It had everything you could want, and was delicious. We just felt everything was 50% more expensive than is reasonable. The water park, Paradise Springs, was fun for the kiddos. Water was warm, and plenty of monitoring and safety measures. We ordered food and drinks as soon as we arrived and over an hour later still hadnt received even our drinks. We finally had to abandon that, and went back to the hotel pool to get food.It is a gorgeous place, rooms were comfortable and clean, and convention center was great. We paid the $42 a day for valet, but will probably utilize it more to leave the property to eat at reasonable prices restaurants on our next visit.
I have never been to such an amazing hotel/resort in my life! Like a city within a hotel! The staff were so very friendly and treated us with respect. It is a bit pricey but I would stay there every time we were in the Dallas area if I could afford it!I cannot say enough good things about it. You have to go there at least once!
Nice hotel, decent food, horribly slow service. We are staying in a large suite and we’ve requested towels and a new set of sheets for the pull out, numerous times because there was something on the sheets and my son was supposed to sleep in it, but we waited an hour and a half and it was approaching 10:30pm and we decided to get in bed and cancel the order. The next day we requested towels and sheets again, and it’s was over 4 hours of waiting time (Still waiting)….I had kids to bathe and naps that needed to be taken and I wasn’t able to do that with promises of sheets and towels coming “any minute” or “within the hour”. They seem to be tremendously understaffed. If you need something, be sure to request it first thing in the morning or it won’t happen that day….I assume. I requested these items at 2pm, it’s now 6 pm.
Beautiful resort. Fantastic service. Excellent amenities. Great food. I have stayed there twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times.
Beautiful property. So dead here because COVID. The parking garage was mostly empty. Most of the restaurants closed. It was good time to visit as no crowds. Amazing property. For how empty the proper is it’s amazing the room prices are still high.Worth the visit to experience the property. If you have the free cash, looks like a wonderful place to stay.
VERY, VERY dissatisfied!! We decided to take a family trip while we were in the area for a memorial. We have 5 children who were excited to play at the water park and do the hotel activities. We rented a cabana at the water park ($325 for the day). We were unable to go to the water park due to it being closed because of rain. No one can control that but we have been trying to get a refund for the cabana and no one will help us. Ive spoken to at least 5 employees who are relaying messages for the managers not one manager has tried to speak with us or resolve the issue. Furthermore when we knew our plans to swim were being canceled we thought we could do some other activities at the hotel. Unfortunately they only do those activities during the weekend. (Yep even in the summer) We also wanted to eat at one of the restaurants so we walked around to find a place to eat, not one of their restaurants were open. We had to leave the hotel to find a place to eat. Also when I booked the stay over the phone the operator helping us booked us for the Paradise Springs package (all that includes is a tumbler and a parking spot at the water park) we were not informed that all overnight guests have access to the water park you dont have to purchase the Paradise Springs package. ($200) Also the parking place at the water park is useless because the hotel has a trolley to and from the park to the hotel. Also when the operator added the Paradise Springs package it took away our discounts my husband is retired military and we are both first responders. So upset with this company, weve worked overtime to afford this trip and I feel like they cheated us. 😔
Dirty room and horrible customer service. The water park is fun for kids. Very limited restaurant choices with extremely high prices. Would not recommend staying here. Might be good to come for the day
Good location close to the airport. Clean organized. Would have given 5 stars if there would be more parking places. We looked 20 minutes till finding a spot
Overall, the family and I enjoyed our stay at the Gaylord Texan. The property is beautiful and there are many activities whether at the Texan or nearby that accommodated our needs/desires.Where the rating suffers is more related to our experience in the marketplace and the Texas Station restaurant located inside of the Gaylord Texan. Both of these places had very poor customer service. The employees we interacted with gave the impression that they didnt want to be there and they were not very friendly.I would recommend finding food options outside of the resort. There are many good spots nearby in the downtown Grapevine area and just north of the resort in Flower Mound.
The resort is beautiful🌸🌺🌼🌻, well kept✨✨, staff did A+ service/ professional in every way👍😎👩💼👨💼; however, the water park is smaller then most other amusement parks. Our service from food was great seeing that I had a $50 credit. The credit does have to be used for dinning out ONLY! 🙄This was a bit annoying seeing that we couldnt order room service. After being in the sun ☀️ all day my family and I just wanted to relax. We did receive two souvenir cups that allow free refills!👍 Our package included parking paid too. The over all stay was a pleasant and a nice get away! 😊💆♀️
Well worth the price. Clean, awesome customer service, quick valet, friendly bell hops, room service is so delicious and filling. The only odd thing is how cold the halls are and the walls are somewhat thin as we could hear (CLEARLY) our neighbors having relations, LOL. Other then that it was a great and fun experience. They have the water park, an outdoor pool with jacuzzi, and an indoor pool.
Very nice hotel/resort.. the rooms were clean as well as the common areas for the huge amount of people that were there for the 4th of July. There were lots of activities and shows (for an extra charge) to keep us busy. The waterpark was great the kids loved it.. as with most resorts the food and drinks were of course overpriced and just okay. Great customer service though everyone was very friendly and helpful, will definitely be returning.
Beautiful facility and restaurants make this a truly unique and fun hotel! Never disappoints and always a great time.
Room and amenities are nice but food quality has fallen in the last two times I have stayed there. The cantina buffet had cold or old food included rock-hard tortillas. For the price they charge, I expect better quality food. In the past years, the food was good but the last two visits have been sub-par
Such a disappointment. Booked a $400 hotel room and was told “no problem, you can see fireworks on site for 4th of July”. Absolute lie. 75% of the hotel guests were awaiting fireworks and you couldn’t even view them from the hotel. We tried 2 restaurants and had to be refunded at one because the food was so cold. Our key card to our room would not work, the air conditioner wouldn’t go lower than 75 degrees, and we booked a single room with 2 beds and received a single room with a king bed. Just don’t go. Save yourself the headache and save your money. There are so many beautiful hotels in the area that are worth the money. Will never stay here again.
Great hotel and pools. Nice Italian restaurant. Must like kids, as this is definitely a family friendly place. The water park is fun!
Comfortable room and great courtyard area full of walking paths, restaurants, and entertainment. Add-ons are pricey and seem excessive. Things like parking should be built into the room price. Very big place and overall a good stay.
Its been years since our last visit. We really enjoyed our anniversary week here. 5star very very clean great staff. Top notch room service. Best tasting food and drinks. They have a yellow button on the phone and all you have to do is push it for them to do whatever it takes. Really whatever it takes. They came out and recharged our battery in the truck in no time. We utilized the marketplace alot to warm our leftovers for lunch.. Paradiso Springs. Cantina Hickory Steakhouse Texan Sports Bar love these places. Thank you for helping us make a memorable anniversary week. 9nights reasonable rate. We will be back.
This was one of our worst Marriott experiences ever especially for the fact the I travel for work and solely use Marriott properties. My wife and I wanted an quick stay cation so I made reservations for room and dinner at the Zeppole. The day started great getting the upgrade to a suite using one my rewards but that is were it stopped. Our room was nice however having a suite bedroom/bed backup to the elevator shaft made it impossible to sleep. Our dinner at Zeppole which we have made the drive just to eat there was a horrible experience, we arrived just a party of 2 and were nicely surprised when they said we will sit you over here away from all the kids that lasted about 5 minutes. When they proceeded to sit a table of 15 boys right adjacent to us. The kids were more than unruly running around the restaurant and twice running into our waitress while she was speaking to us. The manager came over to apologize and the same thing happened to her and she said something to them but that didnt help. We promptly paid our bill and left. What was supposed to be a nice evening out was ruined.
My best friend and I booked a stay here after I had a horrible case of Covid and was in the hospital and then home in recovery. I just needed to get away for a little while and enjoy some time with my friend in a fun environment. However that is not what we got from this resort. Nothing worked, the staff with the exception of the Bellman were rude, the food was awful, the room was nice but nothing special. It doesn’t even have a microwave. It’s just over priced for what they don’t offer. You pay for a name without service. When we called to order room service the man was incredibly rude. When we asked about the bar making a basic strawberry margarita which they had all the stuff for, we were informed they won’t do that. We prepaid parking but were still charged every time we left, and Paradise Springs that they charge you for with your room wasn’t open even after we called ahead to make sure it was. I’m just not at all impressed with the resort.Jon the Bellman was kind, considerate and helpful. He was truly the one person who knows how to treat other people and make them feel like human beings.Rather than a relaxing and fun time with my friend what I got was rudeness and bad service. I’m just disappointed and expected better from such a highly recommended resort.
Everything is very expensive! A pizza is $30 and it was not that great. Honestly I expected more for the high price tag and a supposedly 5 star hotel. BEWARE they turn the music on in the Riverwalk area at 9am sharp Honestly! So if you dont want to wake up early you are out of luck! Honestly it is a okay place bit out dated, but we had no soap in any dispenser. None of the maid staff know any English.I would have appreciated at least a dresser to put my clothes in instead of living out of my bags and rooms are very small. Pools and workout room are very nice 👌 We also had bird poop on our balcony and it was never cleaned neither was our room for 5 days! Also they are not handicap accessible my dad was denied a wheelchair which he needed to get around the huge place and they quoted us a HUGE fee! This should be complimentary with a hotel this big.
Good place to visit even if you do not have to get a room in this hotel. We have out of town visitors who had a long stop over at DFW Airport and since this place is close to the airport we decided to bring them to Gaylord Texan Resort. This place is beautiful. They have a small replica of the Alamo and the riverwalk. Several restaurants inside. Just a nice place to spend time and relax. The only problem is parking. If youre coming to just visit the place and not renting a room, you need to eat in one of the restaurants to validate your free parking. We used their coffee shop but that doesnt qualify anymore. It used to be before the pandemic. You have to eat at their restaurant. We end up paying $18+ for parking on a 2 hour stay. Still a good place to bring family and to cool off specially summer ..
The Gaylord Texan is a unique experience but I think its suffering from post pandemic issues. Many of the shops and restaurants are closed and they are not fully staffed which causes long wait times in their restaurants and at the front desk. Our room was also not serviced the entire length of our trip! They seem to have problems filling any extra requests. It took us a while to sort out our final bill. Experience was definitely not up to the usual high standard.
The Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center is a beautiful and wonderful experience whether traveling on business, for fun or anywhere in between. Although COVID-19 has impacted all resorts, this one is no different. Only two restaurants remain open; however, the experience was wonderful. The staff was great, the food was excellent and the surrounding area was peaceful and quiet. Highly recommended!!!!!
This place was really cool, it was way more interesting and ornate than I was expecting from photos that I had seen.
The place is beautiful but it is not staffed to accommodate the large size. In addition, the business center is actually owned by fed ex. I thought perhaps I died and was a ghost because my key would not work and the fed ex rep just stared at me and continued to work because it was not yet 7. The alleged business center is open 24 hours with key but neither my key nor the key of three other guests could open it. The front desk was not available and after a 18 min hold, I gave up. Disappointing .
Great hotel, great staff, Lots of things to do. They do a good job of keeping up the place. Bring your check book its pricey. $15 cheeseburgers are the norm. We would recommend and come back.
We have a group that ranges in age from 3 months to 68! We take a yearly trip and always enjoy our stay at the Gaylord. So much so we have been going for the last 12 years!
Really nice resort. But if you are a foodie do not come here excepting a great meal. Food is really mediocre and not worth the cost. Literally zero vegan options. Unless you don’t mind eating an impossible burger for every meal.
Overall facilities deserve 3 stars but the experience with the rooms should be 0. Rooms are outdated. There is a constant flashing light from the smoke alarm. The alarm clock is sync in all the rooms to wake up everyone at 6am. That felt like a military school. Extra small rooms. There is no microwave. Mirror was damaged. Room was hot. Phone was super old, where is the IP phone like in any proper hotel? There is a lack of elevators that creates a horrible experience for the customer. This is a 4 star hotel that charges everything as a 5 star hotel. Everything is overpriced. Interesting that same chain of hotels(Marriott) has so much quality anywhere but the US. I have stayed at Marriott hotels in Costa Rica, Canada, Perú, etc and they are good. But here in the US is just a bad experience. I think Americans need to travel more so they can have a very good point of reference as how a proper hotel experience should be and not take the usual low quality experience for the price of a 5 star hotel. For the money I paid I can go again to Vancouver and stay at the Trump Tower, a proper hotel. Save your money and go somewhere else. For management, dont deceive your fellow Americans with low quality experience.
We took our grandkids to the Gaylord Texan right after the Fourth of July holiday. We use Marriott hotels on a regular basis but were very disappointed with the overall service at the Gaylord in Grapevine. Many of the restaurants were closed and overall service and communication was poor. We requested our room be cleaned, a day ahead of time and got no follow up response. While we realize labor market can be tight, it is not too much to ask to be properly communicated with as to the availability of facilities and services. Very disappointing experience overall.
Definitely dont come here if you want a romantic getaway. The walls are super thin! In our first room there was a little kid being super loud next door so we changed rooms...then when we get to our next room theres a baby crying next door...definitely not what we wanted to hear for over $200 a night and on our anniversary. The hotel is nice to walk around and we got a good workout at the gym but we wont be visiting again.
Sad to stay, but not worth the money. Room phone did not work. Lobby would say “call back”. How do you call back if they cannot hear you. Elevator service pathetic! Waited 20 minutes. Two elevators but only one working. Mr. Gaylord should experience this. Average people save for a visit to a resort…disappointed no one to complain to.
We had a deluxe room overlooking Grapevine lake. Window was dirty inside and out. Stains in the carpet. Exposed floor outlets. No maid service for two days. The food at the sports bar way over priced even for a resort and below par in quality. The grounds were well kept and the staff courteous, efficient and friendly. There was a tornado warning one evening and the staff moved all of us into the basement where they passed out waters and Doritos. The resort however feels...old. We have wanted to come here for some time but the total experience even discounting for the current health crisis was underwhelming.
Beautiful but expensive! A bottle if water is $5. Rooms were small, nothing fancy. Pillows were terrible. No microwaves in the rooms or anywhere for use by guests. Rooms are not worth the price you pay. The atrium was beautiful though.
Amazing place. Things for the whole family to do plus great restaurants, shops and very clean rooms.
I went to a week long conference at this location. The service and comfort was fantastic. There is a beautiful outdoor area between the conference center and the hotel that’s great for dining or just relaxing. They had fabulous food for the entire conference and a really nice space. All in all, I would highly recommend this resort and convention center.
Here is the low down... Indoor pool is wack nothing to see here folks. Outdoor pool is just a big pool, no slides or anything fancy. They arent strict on how many wrist bands they will give you for the water park. The waterpark is really nice just smaller than I expected, only 3 parts to it, a kid section, a lazy river, and a big pool with a zip line and big slide. The food is veeery expensive. The have a big bee problem at the waterpark, bees are everywhere but the employees dont care at all Id say I saw a few hundred bees while I was there. Lockers are about $25 so its best not to bring anything, you can charge everything to your room anyway. The nicest part of the waterpark is that its exclusive to the hotel so there was barely anyone there, no waiting in line and the kids got to enjoy themselves alot.
The hotel was lovely until I inspected my room and found blood on my pillow thank God for extra pillows. Then upon check out I learned that pardise spring charged my room for something I paid for in cash. Lastly I dont understand how there are so many taxes.
Food prices were very expensive. I was there for an educational conference and that was fantastic. The facility is beautiful!
Impossible to give a simple rating for our experience at this overpriced monument to overblown, senseless opulence. Almost $300 a night for a room, simple meals and parking. And whats with the resort fee add-on? There was NOTHING of any resort nature that added ANY value for us.Confusing layout; misleading signage, inside & outside; contradictory written and verbal answers given to simple questions.Employees were uniformly, genuinely pleasant and helpful. We came for event in convention center. Were told by a few employees that convention center parking was free for guests. Bill shows over $16 per night. Still, it was great to be able to load & unload under cover.Randomly flashing light on smoke alarm disturbed sleep.Comfortable bedding.HVAC blew directly in my face while sitting at desk, making working at my computer impossible with heat on.Phone by bed wouldnt work.Generally most of the property showed a bit of neglect/missed maintenance. The buzzard and pigeon roosting on the tiny patio were an interesting feature!Food was very good, though outrageously priced. Two appetizers for two with one iced tea over $50! Simple breakfast for two about the same. Hamburger $18! Plus tip & tax.Bottled water $3.50!Sorry, but its hard for us retired folks to be happy with this experience.
Absolutely stunning place to go visit! We had day passes and got enjoy tons of activities and see the place. It’s so beautiful, well maintained, and great staff! Kids had a blast, we look forward to returning. We visited during the Christmas time, it was beautifully decorated and had a ton of fun winter activities! All of them were so much fun and kid friendly.HIGHLY RECOMMEND
A great experience. Not just for travelers coming from out of state but, The Gaylord Texan, this is a place every Texan should experience. And the city of Grapevine offers so much for travelers who come to this hotel resort. My daughters and I give it 3 thumbs up!
First class in every way. Things are definitely bigger in Texas. You are able to get lost on property, but the views and ambience are worth the walk. Attentive and helpful staff.
Great place with great staff. The pools /water park are great, though they are meant for ages 11 below in my opinion. Overall its great!
Great place but cant have guests be able to pay for water park is a bummer. I understand but friends visited us and now we have to pay expensive room rate just to go to water park with friends. There should be some leeway for situations like this.....
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Hotel and restaurants helped with adjustments and requests for my nephews who are on the autism spectrum. Room and beds were comfortable. AC was awesome. Not all of the restaurants and coffee bars were open at convenient times, but figure that is due to covid staffing issues. Minor wear and tear seen in the lobby (large hole in back of leather couch) but looked to be recent and hopefully repaired soon. Everything was clean. However, never saw staff cleaning/disinfecting high traffic surfaces like counters, elevator buttons, benches or chairs. Atrium was beautiful and had activities, food and shopping to offer.Paradise springs was great and trolley ride from hotel and back was on quick rotations. There are three separate areas (playhouse, lazy river and pool with slides and Zipline) with loungers and umbrellas surrounding each. Grill at waterpark serves generous portions and drinks delivered pool side or you can eat at the outside dining area. Outdoor pool at the hotel was nice with waterfall and rock features. There is also poolside food and drinks available. The property is huge. Overall, excellent time.
Although the property was beautifully maintained the hospitality was awful. The hotel was no where near capacity and yet there was always an hour or more wait for 2 of the 4 restaurants that were open. Any food we did manage to get our hands on tasted like a frozen dinner. Both nights we left the resort to find dinner which defeated the purpose of staying at a resort in the first place. Breakfast you are forced to eat Buffett with no option to order off menu. Costs $30 person plus 18% service fee. And again not very good. Two starbucks on site both with extremely long waiting lines. Warning about the water park- even if you just purchased snacks from the hotel store to take with you they will make you trash them before entering. About 80% of the poolside chairs cost additional $25 to use.Resorts usually cost more upfront to stay at but this one tacks on every chance they find. It was very annoying and left us feeling less than relaxed.
I almost cancelled my reservation due to the poor customer service over the phone. I called the number directly to the hotel that can be found on Google so my assumption is that I was speaking to the property directly. I ignored the attitude I received from the representative the first time but when I called the second time the person I spoke to (I want to say was the same girl) was very nasty and sarcastic. Besides this awful experience my stay was fine and the property was very nice. My advice is to this Hotel is to be more aware of how your representatives address people over the phone because these people make the first impression of the Hotel and could cause you to lose customers.
Huge place with lots of space. Be prepared to pay $23.80 just to park here. No cash accepted and most of the parking payment machines are not working right now. Other than that, its a great place to visit.
This place is cool great pretty the rooms all so clean and the people here are really nice had a really fun time here i will be back here in the winter I love this that why Im giving it 5 stars
This is our second time coming here for vacation. Rooms are dated but still good for kids to enjoy the resort.
I wish all the fees were explained up front before you actually reserve your room. I’d rather pay it all up front so I don’t feel hit with random fees. There’s a resort fee and some other fee that total $50, $22 parking, and some other minor taxes. They ask for a card to put on hold at check-in just in case you want to charge anything to your room…or if you do anything that would incur fees. We went on Father’s Day, just my husband and me. Only one of the restaurants were open, and one of the hostesses was a little dismissive and didn’t seem like she wanted to help, but the others were great. Anyway, they ask for your room number & last name…I thought this was just to confirm that you’re a guest. We go to buy drinks from the bar and the waitress asks for a card to run a tab…wouldn’t you think this is the card that would be charged?? Well, we ended up closing our tab and paying for it (should’ve been the card they were running the tab with). We then decided to buy some champagne and they asked if they should charge the card we were just running a tab with…YES, thank you! The first tab ended up being charged to the card the hotel had on hold & the 2nd tab was charged to BOTH the card on hold AND the one they were to run the tab on. I didn’t even see these charges on my card until later that night. Btw the champagne was a $64 bottle, and we were charged $93.50…I guess we paid extra for them to put it in a bucket of ice and hand over 2 champagne flutes…no explanation, just handed the tab. We actually thought we must’ve bought the more expensive bottle ( I wanted to return it, but my husband wanted to feel like a rapper for 5 minutes and splurge).I wish we had gone on a day where there was more going on, because the resort is beautiful but boring when there’s nothing to do but swim. We were only there for a night, so we didn’t plan to swim. Our room definitely needed an upgrade, it felt a little stuffy and outdated…we had a king room that faced Grapevine Lake but an obstructed view.We weren’t happy about all the hidden fees and it was not an eventful time to go. However, we still had a good time getting away from the kids and work if only for a day. We’d still like to go with our family, BUT next time we will bring our own food and drinks and will stay for at least 3 days. Outside of the room cost, we paid $316 on food, drinks, and fees for one night…actually, $409 until they refund the double charge!I hope our next stay will be a 5-star one. :)I added a few pictures and tried to add videos but it wouldn’t work…the blurry photos are screenshots from videos. The place really is beautiful!
