YMCA, please bring the towels back. I can sit in a sauna within 8 inches of someone, but no towels? The hours are just not great for paying $70 monthly. Sundays look like a black Friday rush inside which shows you the demand is there. 9-4 or 10-4 seem much more reasonable. Stay open till 9pm on weekdays for after work.,

The only reason I give this facility (which is amazing and universally accessible) one star is that people with disabilities (physical) are not represented on the website. Representation matters. As does mentioning it is accessible for wheelchair users and others with limited mobility. It is a foregone conclusion if you live near Mary Free Bed that you know all of this, but for those just visiting, they have no idea what this great facility has to offer. Please consider updating the site to reflect what it has.

This place has helpful, friendly staff and the facility is still looking new and smelling clean. Splash pool for children has been a great opportunity for grandparents to interact with their youngest grandkids. Just being able to walk the indoor track in icy weather would be wonderful for many of us stuck at home.

This place is great! It can be busy at times. I go first thing in the morning so we have the same group of what are now my friends that show up and keep each other accountable. They do a great job of trying to keep up with the padding wearing out on the equipment. Somethings may have a tear for a few weeks but they order new parts and fix them. The classes are exceptional and staff is super friendly!

My special needs adult child had a dream of taking ballet lessons but due to coordination issues was never able to as a child. We found the beginner adult class at Mary Free Bed YMCA. She just started and she absolutely loves the experience and loves her dance teacher. The instructor is VERY supportive, encouraging and kind. Thank you Mary Free Bed YMCA and your instructor for giving this special girl the inspiration to dance!!

The Mary Free Bed YMCA is a fantastic facility. I have been visiting this gym for over 2 years now and I have met some great people here, including the staff. The facilities are clean and offer a great range of amenities such as the basketball courts, pool, hot tub, and sauna. You will certainly not have issues with being judged or condemned by any of the staff. I highly recommend visiting their facility if you are a single individual or a family.

As a former user of this YMCA branch, I can say that this has great facilities. The track never gets too congested, and the pool is well-kept. Besides that, the locker rooms are very clean, and the sauna is a nice touch. The selection of cardio and weights is extensive.

Easily the nicest YMCA facility I’ve ever seen. The staff is above and beyond friendly and willing to help. Their KidZone takes things to another level; the staff seems to genuinely enjoy kids and my kiddos have always enjoyed going and always say they had fun. Weve done several childrens classes here, but were done with it. They cancel classes without notifying the family, so you find out there is no class when you show up. Classes move to different parts of the facility fr week to week, and employees all seem to have different information on what class is where, leading to lots of wild goose chases around the facility. When they get their act together, the classes are decent, but it really seems like they dont want to have classes here, or care about delivering them well.

We enjoy our membership, and use of the KidZone. Thank you! Our biggest issue has been limited Family Swim hours for use of the pool. And while the pool is heated during family time it is too cold for comfortable family time. My whole family was shivering our entire time (4yo and 2 yo). I understand it must be difficult to adjust temperature between athletic and family use, but it is making us consider using a family/kids swim school instead.

Review №27

Great facility, but the drop-in childcare at the Kid Zone is hit or miss. Due to the short time period watching any kid, they are exempt from the more stringent State daycare requirements for staff ratio, etc. A couple of times the staff count seemed way too low for how many kids were there, so I ended up taking my toddler & stroller on the track instead of getting a full workout. The vast majority of the staff is great, except for one guy at the front desk who clearly does not care whether he helps or hinders you. For the preschool swim classes, we absolutely love Mr. Levi - hes so patient and reassuring with the kids.

Unfortunately, I do not feel welcome here and had to change gyms. I am a 30-some female, and have been told on several occasions I need to leave or “put a shirt on” to cover my midsection- I typically wear long pants and a crop tank top. Not only is this embarrassing, it makes me feel judged and sexualized by the YMCA staff. This policy should be changed, as it is degrading to women. I have been to other YMCA’s and never had a problem with my attire.

It was my first time at this location and my first impression was that I was impressed with how clean it was and how everything was set up. The ladies at the very front desk when you first walk in we’re very helpful and welcoming.I was feeling very good about this gym...until the worker Morgan Doherty, who was working the desk downstairs came up to my friend and I to tell us we had to go change. My friend and I were wearing long workout leggings and long sleeve crop top sweatshirts that showed about 1 inch of our stomachs (I actually measured once I got home). I didn’t understand because there were others there working out who were wearing crop top tank tops and short shorts....but we were the ones to “have to change because it’s a family gym” or we would be “kicked out”. I respectfully said “okay, and that I will no longer be visiting this location”. She walked away and then started whispering to her coworker and looking at us giving us snotty looks. There were many other employees who saw us and didn’t say anything in regards to our outfits, but for some reason she was really upset. We were getting a good workout in and not bugging anyone, so it was really hurtful to be so discriminated against. Especially when so many others were wearing crop tank tops and shorts...then to make matters worse, on her social media and she wears crop tops tanks, crop tops, shorts, and plain tank tops to the SAME gym that she said I couldn’t.How can a worker wear that, but a paying customer can’t? And gets kicked out/asked to change? How can she be this discriminating? It’s not a good look for the YMCA.This is the first time I’ve EVER been kicked out of a gym for my outfit...and let me remind you I was in workouts leggings and cropped long sleeve sweatshirt.I wouldn’t reccomend this YMCA to anyone unless you want to be judged and discriminated against.I’d suggest you save yourself the time and go to any other YMCA location because this location has staff that plays favoritism.

Was checking this gym out today to potentially become a member, and it is safe to say that I will not be interested. Just a poor first impression, and have never received such rude customer service. No thanks!

This place is busy - and its busy for a reason. Ive been visiting this beautiful facility for about 7 months. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. At 5 laps per mile, the track is fabulous! Its a fun distraction to see the kiddos enjoying daycamps during summer and other school breaks while Im working out.My favorite thing? Seeing people of all ages and abilities in the same place, all working on goals like regaining mobility after an injury, or working to improve health and wellness through the many classes offered. I love this place!

But technically 1 star because earlier today I had leg day and boy lemme tell ya... In my youth (12 hours ago) walking up and down the stars was a breeze. Now I feel like a polio patient crawling up an down on my hands and knees. Granted, my glutes are getting major swole. But ladies, at what cost? Websters dictionary defines Mobility as the quality or state of being mobile or movable. Folks, when your paddy cakes are a sore as mine, that is not the case. Ive found it harder to do everyday things, like sitting, breathing, blinking and pooping. When will we stand against the atrocities of organizations like the YMCA who take your money and then subliminally force you to get heathy? Never! Because somehow I quite enjoy it.

Currently a member, primarily for our young son. Ive been trying to get there more and more, but going after work is a total bust. There is no parking available between 5 and 6 p.m. Snow removal is terrible, 20 or more cars just driving around trying to find a spot to park, and once youre inside there are wait lines for the equipment and cardio equipment. Seems membership has been oversold for the capacity of the club.

Facility is very nice but staff is extremely hypocritical. They will yell at you for wearing a crop top/taking pictures in the locker rooms but their trainers do THE SAME THING!!! I’ve literally spent 2 hours a day, 5/6 days a week here lifting weights since January. On top of that, the staff is extremely rude. I am obviously a regular member and barely get acknowledged coming in or leaving, not even a “hello”. And forget asking the blonde girl at the front desk anything, you will be met with a snappy response. I get having rules, but if you’re going to enforce them make sure that you’re staff is following them too. Walked out today and won’t be coming back.

Big Investment, Poorly Managed. A near new facility, but things are already showing signs of wear. I like everything about this place except one thing. Can you guys get larger lockers in the Family locker room? When I take my son swimming I cant even fit a a small gym bag in them. I would like lock up my keys and phone, but cant. Everyone just throws their bag on top of lockers, run out of space quick. Your lockers in your womens locker room are much larger, why the downsize in here?

I am extremely disappointed in this place. If I come 5 times a month, family pool is closed for 4 of those 5 times. Its getting annoying with classes of older people whose schedule is never fixed, so you have to have a luck when you come so thats not the time when they dance in the family pool. My baby is always crying when we have to return. They should have scheduled hour during the week so we dont have to waste time by coming there. It just doesnt feel right for other people with their family!

Been a member of the Ymca for a few years now and only visit this location out of convenience. I much prefer the DDH location downtown.I have two complaints.1) Parking. Especially during the winter. I get that the gym gets busier at the beginning of the year, but the snow removal is atrocious, causing a huge loss of parking space and forcing members to park dangerously on medians, sidewalks and in fire lanes. Its a madhouse. I like the facility well enough, but the parking situation is bad enough for me to come here and take the time to write a review. This is a big problem. Fix it.2) Whats up with the fitness staff at this location? Everyone seems to hate their job and anyone who asks a question or goes to the desk to borrow equipment is a huge inconvenience. The only thing I see the staff actually doing is talking to each other at the desk. If I go to ask to borrow a belt, or an ab roller, etc.. Im given a look like Ive interrupted, or made to wait while they finish their conversation. Night/Day difference from the experience Ive had with the staff at the DDH location.

I have a membership specifically for the pool and the sauna (otherwise I would just pay 20 dollars to a month to join planet fitness for cardiovascular and weight equipment). For the extra 80 dollars a month: The sauna is usually broken or well under the average sauna temp. The standard It should be fixed in 2 weeks or so is the same narrative you will also get for the sauna and steam room at the GR location. I havent been to either location where the pools and sauna are in working order. One, the other, or both, are out of service. Even if you have their app, they dont update it in a timely manner so you will arrive to be told the pool is out of service. If you try to talk to staff about it, they are very blase about any kind of sense of urgency to get it resolved. If you express your frustration, theyou act as if you, the paying customer, doesnt have a right to be annoyed with their ongoing maintenence issues.Totally not worth the money.

Im giving this 3 stars only because of their kid zone. My 5 & almost 8 year old were forced to play in the baby area last week due to lack of staff. No one told me this at either check in spots & I didnt know until an hour later when I picked them up. They didnt seem short staffed ( I saw atleast 4 employees) but it was around noon & probably lunch time for them. My kids were devastated & said they never want to go back. They had no age appropriate toys to play with & my 8 year old daughter actually curled up on the floor & fell asleep out of boredom. The gym itself is very nice, the pool area & locker rooms are clean & the staff is very friendly. I really like Mary Free Bed YMCA but am upset I now have to come at times when either my kids can stay with me...or pay for a sitter at home
