Technician showed up at my house and refused to do any service because of a billing issue with my home warranty. I proceeded to tell him I would pay out-of-pocket and we could do this without using home warranty. He claimed he wouldn’t do it and walked right out the door. Left me in my family with a broken refrigerator and still no answers. Completely unprofessional.

Sears customer service is a joke. We bought a 2700 dollar refrigerator in 2018. It broke recently. We called sears to repair the device which they did a fine job, however, they explained the compressor was bad and cant be replaced because everyone was having issues with it so they put in a different one. This sounds like a recall kind of activity, but cost us 500 dollars in labor. When calling the automated system, it is clear NO ONE thought from the customer view. Menu after menu. Our credit card was charged twice, one went through and the 2nd time our bank denied the payment. We then got a bill saying they attempted to bill us but failed, which is true, but didnt mention the fact that it was the 2nd time it was being charged. When my wife called the number on the paper bill, it only accepts payments and there is no one to talk to about it. So she called India again and had another terrible experience trying to talk to a human. She was hung up on once and when she did get through to an agent, she couldnt help her.It is unlikely that we will ever be shopping at sears again.

I called to get an estimate to replace the heating element on my Frigidaire dryer. I already know what’s wrong I explained this to the lady on the phone. I asked if they could give me an estimate and she said she can send a tech out to do a diagnostics and that would cost 99.00....I obviously was not happy because I refuse to pay someone to diagnose a problem that I already know what it is. The machine literally gave me the error code. I relaxed this part before but I didn’t want to again. I wanted to know what the cost would be, when I explained to her I wasn’t going to pay for someone to come out and tell me what I already knew, she got an attitude and said, it doesn’t matter what you already think you know...what kind of company won’t give an estimate for a specific repair over the phone???? A dishonest one. It’s no wonder sears as a company nationwide isn’t doing well#edit Since I knew the problem(not think but know) I ordered the parts for the repair, I repaired the problem myself(didn’t want too and was willing to pay someone) the parts ended up costing a little less than their “diagnostic fee” they could have had an easy repair job but chose to be rude on the phone. They will never get my business or my referrals.

Own the Kenmore Elite brand which contains the LG compressor. LG is needing to replace many units as the compressors are only lasting 2-4 years. Before calling Sears I had called a local appliance repair company as I already knew that Sears rates were high as I had to use them earlier in the year for the ice maker which was a default as well. Cost me $350 to make a small adjustment inside the unit which should have been done at time of setup. The local repair person I called for the compressor already knew what the problem was with the refrigerator as he has had many calls. Unfortunately he had to refer us to Sears as the compressor is under warranty. Called Sears Repair and had to first pay for a diagnostic call at $139 which confirmed the issue. Parts had to be ordered and was repaired one week later. Repair person was great, took him a couple of hours. Still had to pay an additional $563 for parts and labor. Part was only $15 the remainder was labor and that was also deducting the $139 diagnostic fee. Therefore the total value of the service was really $669. Hmm, I think we really paid for the compressor unless Sears labor fees are $327 per hour. And again they try to sell you the home maintenance program, which by the way does not include maintenance on your appliances that is extra. Been there done that and canceled.

We bought all of our major kitchen appliances through sears all kenmore elite. Our refrigerator wasnt consistently cooling it was going warm then working. Also our freezer door hinge wasnt latching. I called to set an appointment and asked specifically if the diagnostic fee went towards the repairs or was in addition to the repairs. Exact words. Was told it would go towards repairs. Technician arrives and cant get the other side of the freezer door off to even really look at it unhooked and give up. Then he tells me he cant diagnois the fridge because at the second it was cooling and there is no other way to check if it is working properly unless he drains the freon and that would cost 500ish and even then could be fine and not be the issue. I ask if there is an error code he could check of anything else he could look at to be sure everything is working properly. He says there is one spot in the panel that would have a blinking light if an error pops up. Then he just stares at me and I ask him to check. Put out he checks and nothing. Ok fine despite me telling the appointment person the issue I can get over not checking anything else and him not being able to diagnois anything...i guess. So I ask for a cost on the freezer door repair. Its 450 and the service fee is in addition to everything so 350 in labor to replace a hinge. At this point Im done. I was lied to about the service fee and the tech couldnt do anything and the high repair cost. I will never buy from sears again and now understand why they have so many issues.

Overpriced nonsense! I called them to have my microwave repaired and they told me their standard repair charge (parts and labor) is $250 - for a MICROWAVE that I can purchase brand NEW for $189. I asked them how they could know what was wrong with my microwave without ever having seen it and she said that is their standard charge. OF COURSE, if I was willing to pay a monthly fee from now on, theyd fix my microwave for $99 (parts and labor) and then cover ALL my appliances in a home warranty (after 30 days). ...but Id be paying a monthly fee that she didnt disclose. This is SUPER shady. If if costs more to fix the microwave than it does to replace it, I am fine with that... but Id expect the technician to tell me that after seeing it first. Ive already got someone else scheduled to fix it... and they arent charging me $250. Ridiculous! [UPDATE 6/25/19] I emailed them as requested and they never responded to my email. Typical big box mentality. You are DEFINITELY better off calling someone else. I did.

Instead of swapping out a new washer and dryer combo, they changed completely the whole washer parts and etc, but it’s still having issue. So I m complete unsatisfy with the handling of the whole situation. Our 4 year old Kenmore Elite refrigerator stopped cooling. We called many appliance repair services and all said call Sears its the compressor/drier and its warranty work that has to be performed by Sears. So that morning I called Sears Home Services and a diagnostic specialist came out THAT AFTERNOON! Yes, I was absolutely shocked. However, it WAS the compressor and it would be 9 days before they could get the parts and a tech to come to install it. We lived out of camping coolers all that time and most everything in the freezer was defrosted and thrown out...4-half gallons of ice cream, dozen popsicles, some meat, frozen waffles, etc all toast. The parts were delivered via UPS and Jeremy M. arrived on time as scheduled. He worked just about 2 hours and cleaned up everything. Very nice tech. My reason for 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐, the parts were covered under warranty but the labor was over $535 for about 2-1/2 hrs of work/diagnostics which doing the math = $220 AN HR! PLUS, how come the compressor takes a dump in my 4 year old $3000 refrigerator? Its a problem with other brands too...including LG. THEYRE JUNK! I have a 15 year old and had a 25 year old refrigerator THATS STILL WORKING! Theyre NOT Sears products. Beware of theyre home warranty programs they push on you too. They sell junk and then want to gouge you $50 a month for a warranty program to fix they junk. Nope, thats it, changing brands from here on out.

A fuse went out my dryer and I was unable to fix it myself. Since it is a Whirlpool, I called Sears Service. The repairman was very nice, knowledgeable and on time. I would definitely give the serviceman five tars. HOWEVER, it cost me $184.98 to simply have a fuse changed. It was $79.00 for the diagnostic service call, the fuse cost $25.98, including tax and the labor to install it was $80.00. I know this was my lack of not investigating the issue and getting all the information before the serviceman came. But it seems to me that $184.98 is simply robbery. I plan to find a reliable handyman near me that can diagnose and fix my appliances in the future. I erroneously assumed that the labor would be included in the price of the diagnostic fee as this how most places operate. I don’t mind paying the $79.00 fee if it were to include the labor to fix the dryer, and the part being $25.98 is also acceptable. I do know that I will never call Sears Service again to fix any issue I have; I will call a local handyman.

It took him much less time than I expected. However, after he left, I found that the door seemed much heavier than it was before. I found that a balance spring connected to the door hinge on the right side had fallen off the connector tab. I was able to grab the end of the spring and connect it to the tab using a wire coat hanger through the crack at the side of the dishwasher. TA-DA! Good as new!

This repair was a 2-part repair. The technician quickly assessed our problem and clearly explained our options under our service plan. We chose to have the repair made, even though we had to cover some of the cost (an amount over $500 on our plan). The technician ordered the parts from our utility room and scheduled the date for making the repairs. Upon arrival for the repairs, he was ready and went right to work. He arranged for another technician to come assist him because of the large parts that had to be changed out. The repair is effective and we are happy with the results. In addition, the technicians appeared very professional, personable, knowledgeable and in good appearance. They carefully performed the repairs and cleaned up waste material after completion.Having the Sears home services maintenance plan on this 5-year old appliance paid off big-time for us.UPDATE#1: We had a follow-on repair on April 30, 2016. This was a SATURDAY, a day after we called them. (Who comes on the day after a Friday, rather than waiting until the next week? -- SEARS Appliance Repair, thats who!) Were AMAZED with this service. Our washing machine had stopped in the middle of the cycle on a Friday and we couldnt get it re-started. Also, since the previous repair, our machine had gone back to banging on the spin cycle and moving around the floor. After the service was completed for the first item, the machine ran well, and quietly. (The technician did not run the washing machine with a load in it.) After the technician left, we put in a load of clothes, and the banging/moving resumed. We called back and had a follow-up repairman return a couple days later. (Again, amazing service!). He found a bad pump and replaced it, test ran it (without a load), and everything seemed normal. Before he left, we asked if he ran the machine with a load and he said they could not do that. He offered to stay while we ran a load through the rinse & spin cycle. The banging resumed. The repairman went back to troubleshooting the machine and found several problems requiring replacement parts. He ordered the parts on-the-spot and gave us instructions for receiving the parts at our home for a follow-on repair. So, the lesson is: run your machine with a load before the repairman leaves. The OVERALL RATING is still 5-star, because they came back quickly, stayed long enough to troubleshoot the machine properly, ordered the parts quickly, and explained to us what the next steps are. Stay tuned for the final repair results...UPDATE#2: Repairs made to the machine and it is working like new on day 4 ... once we received all the parts, we called to schedule the next (and final) step in making repairs. They scheduled it for the next day -- AMAZING! The repairs were made and the technician took his time to explain what they had done ... machine now runs quietly and were happy. Now lets see if the repair lasts...

It was the main board which they had to order, so we had to rush to get a rental refrigerator to use in the interim. A technician returned on Jan. 10 2016 about 3 p.m and replaced the board. Told us the compressor was running and left. We went to visit some friends and upon returning at 8 pm realized that the unit still was not cooling. We called the next day and another repair person came out and confirmed that it in fact was not working and at this point let us know that they would be ordering the compressor, the blower and a few other parts. The same repair person returned on 1/19/2017 and relaxed all the arts which had been shipped to our home. He stayed long enough to be sure that the unit was indeed working and cooling down. We now have a virtually new refrigerator/freezer as far as parts are concerned.

Partly awful and partly great. My water heater was under warranty when it bit the dust, but not the labor - understood - no problem, except it was a small nightmare. The order had to go through a store - just the way Sears still does things. The store was confused how to handle part under warranty, but not labor. Store thought they had figured it out, only they hadnt. Store said all done, but order wasnt showing up on installers system. So there we were with no water heater and no progress on getting one. I called the store six or eight times, to no avail. They blamed the installer. Furthermore, no one was taking charge of solving the problem, at least no one told me they were taking charge. I finally called the original national Sears water heater hotline, who after another ten minutes or so, figured out that the store hadnt finished their part of the order process. It was bad software combined with insufficient store employee training. Once the installer reopened the next morning, everything went very smoothly. Oh, and also, the installer didnt have up to date times on when the installer could get the water heater from the store. Once again, Sears has serious supply chain problems. So sad. Sears is about the oldest and the original on-line retailers, with their catalog business, but they have so badly dropped the ball and have categorically failed to take the lead in todays e-commerce economy. In fact, they actually discontinued the catalog business instead of taking the lead. Poor Sears.

The Techs were very concerned with my problem and tried to take care of the problem. The only problem was that when they talked to their tech support they didnt seem to get any where. The service techs were fine, but the support from higher up was lacking.

This was the absolute worst repair experience I have ever had. My GE Profile range got a power surge and shorted out. I scheduled my repair online and when they came out the serviceman did some troubleshooting and decided a main circuit board needed to be replaced. He ordered the part. They came back and the wrong part had arrived so he ordered the part again. The wrong part showed up again for the second time. Another part was ordered and finally the third time(3 weeks later) the correct part arrived and the range was fixed. Communicating with the call center is an absolute nightmare. I continued to receive automated messages saying my repair was cancelled and to reschedule but when I called the call center they confirmed my appointment but that took over 30 minutes on each call because they have to go through a scripted call. Absolute nightmare. I can see why sears is dying a slow death. Next time I will be calling GE or another repair company. Sorry to see sears headed in this direction.

Overall, I was pleased with the service. The problem was moisture freezing the drawer tracks in the lower freezer drawer. The problem was fixed on the first and only visit. The tech called prior to coming out to better understand the problem. Then he made sure he had the required parts on the truck. Then he arrived at the scheduled time and fixed the problem.I wish the cost was lower, but we cant have everything.

Edit from my first complaint which started back on August 23 - now it is September 26 and still waiting for proper repair!!Although we realize all things may break at some point we didnt expect it to be only 3 years into owning a refrigerator and then take over 2 1/2 weeks to get a repair tech (diagnostics was 2-3 days) to fix our refrigerator and freezer. We were told they were going to cancel our repair because a part was on back order with no idea on its availability. We insisted they show up anyway. The tech went to work and said the back order part was no big deal as he had at least one on his truck but didnt end up needing it (glad we insisted he show). He completed work and we believed we were in the clear. Nope! The refrigerator is working better but now the freezer is worse than before. We didnt figure out the freezer wasnt working until the next morning. Too late apparently though because they claim our other four boxes of parts we had to wait for have already been sent back somewhere. They basically refused to discuss it after originally telling us they made a note on our account to have the parts held. Another rep says they cant do that so I guess the first rep lied. Now we are waiting another 2 plus weeks to have the same exact parts sent back out in hopes it is repaired correctly this time. The first tech indicated the condenser on this Kenmore (LG) model has been replaced over 88,000 times but no recall and no plan to actually fix the problem. In the mean time our unit seems to be getting worse every day and we continue to support a family of seven from an ice chest. Customer service told us if we wanted anything done we would have to write a letter to corporate because there was nothing they could or were willing to do for us. Terrible!! --2nd repair not only does the freezer no longer work but the whole unit is out. It gets progressively worse each time they come out.Customer Care finally responded but couldnt/wouldnt do anymore than move our 5th visit up by two days. The tech says it still probably wont fix it but they are not able to fix the actual problem. It appears they are just waiting us out to where the problem is outside the window and no longer their problem. We are waiting two more weeks for the same parts that have been ordered three times already. It will be into early October before we see if the 6th visit will fair any better.Just replace my refrigerator please!!

Joe is professional and is a pleasant serviceman and represents Sears well.Only problem is the time for a repairman to be scheduled. It was a week after we called about theproblem. Then it was almost 2 weeks before we received the part and almost a week before the repairmanwas scheduled to come to my house to fix the problem. Your scheduling is terrible.

Service guy came during the hours scheduled. He cleaned the refrigerator and checked it out. Great job, many thanks.DougSecond visit to replace the fan motor on the refrigerator side, (because he told us that the excessive noise was caused by this fan motor). The refrigerator still makes a very loud rattling noise when it runs in its second stage, he didnt stay around to make sure the rattling noise was gone.No thanksDoug

I called for an appliance repair as I was hearing a metal banging noise at the beginning of the wash cycle and then again in the final phase ( about 15 minutes or so before the wash cycle completed). I had previously had a Sears repair on this machine and I purchased the Master Protection Agreement so I called to have the noise I heard checked. The tech arrived as scheduled and used a computer to help diagnose a possible problem. He ran a complete cycle through with some clothing items and the computer did not indicate any issues. The sound I was hearing was a gear change and considered normal. My washing machine is in a laundry room off the kitchen and I am not usually in the area when a wash is going. After the diagnostic and running a wash cycle, he explained that all the visible indications he uses ( a small red light within the machine exterior panels which blinks on/off if all is ok), meant that the machine was functioning normally. I had no out of pocket for this call as I had the Master Protection Agreement. I like GE appliances and I value Sears as a place to shop for appliances and their suggestion that I purchase the Master Protection Agreement.

I should have known this was a bad choice when I called and all they wanted to do was sell me a warranty package on all my appliances insistently. All I wanted was to have someone come and fix my dryer which wasn’t spinning. This was on 3/20. Repairman came and said “so your unit isn’t heating?” Lol. No sir it’s not spinning (guy on phone wasn’t listening to me and entered in a random phone number and not mine so they couldn’t call me with updates). Repairman inspected and the pulley was broken it will cost me $214 to fix and the part will be shipped to your house then we will come back to fix. Fast forward to today 4/20 and 15 calls to a Philippine call center with no update, no date the part will be ready and no one that can speak English to help me. I Googled Sears parts backorder and this company appears to be fraudulent. Called my bank to get the charges reversed. I called the dryers manufacturer (Samsung) and they sent out a “certified” tech who brought parts with them and fixed it within 2 days. I could have honestly bought a new dryer with all of the money I’ve spent on this.
