They quoted me a price for the service on the phone, and when the gentleman came to perform the service, he was right on time. Also went above and beyond and swept behind dryer and washing machine and swept out dust I couldn’t reach and lost items that fell behind. Andrew was so helpful and knowledgeable! He went above and beyond to get our fireplace up and running! We recently moved into our home and the fireplace had never been used so there were some extra things Andrew did to make sure the fireplace was working correctly. One thing I greatly appreciate about Smoke Alert is that the employees are or have been firemen. While we hired them to clean out our dryer vent, they also take the time for other fire prevention measures (as a part of the visit at no extra cost to us). They ask good questions, check for fire safety, and educate us to be sure we know what to do if we ever had a fire. The first time they came, I realized/learned several things I hadn’t previously thought through and wouldn’t want to have to figure out in the midst of a fire if we ever have one.They are professional, respectful, easy to work with, and even left things looking better around our dryer than before they came.

Smoke Alert has the highest amount of good ratings for chimney inspection and cleaning in the Raleigh area so I contacted them as well as a few others to compare. Im glad I went with Smoke Alert! Even though they were booking out 8-weeks (during the winter is the busy season for obvious reasons), they were willing to call if they had a cancellation for an earlier date. They called and were able to fit us in 2 days before Christmas instead of Mid-February! They were thorough with the inspection and chimney cleaning and went through the house to inspect fire extinguishers, smoke/carbon alarms, and dryer vent. The resulting report gave us extensive info as to what we should replace/repair with estimates. Cant ask for anything more. Above and beyond what the other services in the area offer. Not a bad deal, either! well worth the money. I highly recommend this company.

!!!SCAM ALERT!!!I called this company to see if they would provide a quote to remove my vented natural gas firebox/logs and replace the entire system with a new ventless fire box and logs. The lady insisted that their company needs to do a complete inspection and cleaning of the existing firebox & logs for $200 prior to them providing a quote to replace the system…. WHAT??? HELLO… I’m removing and replacing that system with a new one!!!! Why would I want to pay $200 to inspect and clean a system that will be removed and discarded???? That makes no sense… She tried to put the sales whammy on me insisting they are a qualified company and that the inspection and cleaning is required before they provide a quote… This is complete rubbish as I’ve had 2 other qualified companies bid on this job and neither had this requirement. If this company wishes to charge to provide a bid they need to be honest and transparent vs. providing misleading information to potential customers

After a house burned down in our neighborhood we knew we needed a careful inspection - we are thrilled we found this company! He spent 6 hours in our house updating all of our smoke detectors, installing a few with carbon monoxide, cleaning all of our fireplaces and dryer vent. Smoke Alert came with high praise from one of my neighbors and they did not disappoint. I learned that my fireplace is a real working fireplace and not just a decorative piece which is what I had thought for the past 5 years. Our fireplace had not worked properly since we moved in! We have had our first experience with the Raleigh team. They were so professional and asked lots of solid questions prior to booking the service with us. They got us scheduled snd were able to put us on a will call for a sooner appointment. Nick was on time and after checking everything out got to the job at hand. It was quick and easy. Our salon will have them back every 2-3 months to keep the dryer vent clean!!

Update 11/23/20:We were contacted by Smoke Alert to address the issues that were identified. They rescheduled promptly and did an efficient and thorough cleaning. They also checked neighbors rooftop vent screenings for future services. The pricing info on the website has yet to be updated, but it is supposedly in the works.11/17/20We were referred to this business by our neighbors in our three story townhome community. When we called to make an appointment, the rep was very courteous and seemed professional calling multiple times to remind us about our appointment. We initially told the rep that our place is three stories and that they would need to bring two people and a ladder, because our neighbors with thee same payout had to reschedule due to that issue. She said that she would put it in the notes. One person showed up with no ladder.The rep told us that their services for roof termination start at $129, but once they came out the quote became $234. Our neighbors with the same layouts have gotten widely varying quotes with the total being almost double the starting price. It would be more fair if it were consistent and they dont mislead customers by listing the roof termination fee under flat rate pricing on their website.

Smoke Alert was AMAZING! I dont write many reviews, but felt obligated because they were so wonderful. Nick came out and cleaned our dryer vent today. He called before to make sure it was ok to arrive 30 min early, which was great! He was professional and friendly. They checked all my smoke detectors and reviewed many safety items, which I appreciated. My dryer is working much more efficiently, which wasnt my goal (safety was!) but a nice perk 😉 Would definitely recommend them and look forward to having them out next time as well!

This company is run by firemen and they know what they are doing. We were using another service for dryer vent cleaning, and they went into the attic and cleaned the dryer vent in the laundry room - but they did not go up to the roof to clean out the vent to the outside. These guys do that, and they found a bunch of matted lint like paper mache blocking the vent - which is very common. They cleaned it out and our clothes dry much faster now, and we are safer. The other guys only do 1/2 the job - Smoke Alert is the company to call for dryer vent and chimney cleaning. They are very professional and will also check all of your smoke detectors and CO2 monitors while they are there.

Nick came to service my First Alert smoke detectors. He was VERY thorough, professional, knowledgeable and super nice. Afterwards he cleaned my dryer vent and asked if we had fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide alarm. He also recommended a chimney clean. i started with service detector service and ended up with my dryer vent cleaned. 2 fire extinguishers (one for kitchen, one for bedroom), and carbon monoxide alarm and peace of mind. Hired Smoke Alert for dryer vent cleaning plus cleaning and restoring my gas fireplace that had been shut-off for 10 years. We told Smoke Alert the fireplace had been shut-down for an extended period. There was no issue with dryer vent cleaning, in fact, my exterior vent was brittle and the tech replaced it for an additional $75. My issue is with the gas fireplace. Granted it had not been used in +10 years. After cleaning the fireplace it was found the pilot light was not strong enough to touch the thermocoupler and thermopile.I was told I need to have the gas pressure coming into the fireplace checked by calling the gas company or a gasline plumber to determine if issue was pressure or a faulty part in fireplace. Wait, Im paying ~$170 and I need to call others to figure out the issue? Anyway, gas company arrive while tech was at my house and found good gas pressure at the meter. But gas company will not check beyond the meter. So, next I had to find a contractor who can check gas pressure at the fireplace. My issue is Smoke Alert should have the ability to check the gas pressure at fireplace, else how can you properly service the fireplace. My point is the cost of ~$170 is quite steep for just a cleaning of gas fireplace. I found a local contractor that specializes in gas fireplaces to get my unit working. That will cost me another $185.

As a Realtor® in the area I use Smoke Alert myself, and recommend them to my clients. They are professional, thorough, and do a clean job during the inspections.

My recently purchased home built in 1991 only had one smoke detector which looked very yellowed against the white ceiling. Smoke Alert replaced the hardwired smoke detector in the hallway, installed a wireless smoke detector in each of the 3 bedrooms, and a smoke/CO detector in the living room which has a fireplace. All the smoke detectors are linked so if one goes off, they all go off. Each detector has been electronically labeled as to which room it is located. The representative was prompt and efficient and followed Covid guidelines (mask, physical distancing).

So I had their services to do a variety of things last summer and I have a story now to back up their expertise. So last year I first called to have my dryer vent cleaned (badly clogged in house I recently bought) while the crew was there they noted I only had 1 fire alarm upstairs. They recommended I put more in and also asked if I had fire extinguishers... I did not. Being a first time home owner I Agreed and got alarms and extinguishers ..... well tonight that decision likely saved our kitchen and home. Our oven started on fire ... our new alarms were responsive and our kitchen specific extinguisher was available around the corner ... was able to rush to action having had a plan (the tech also explained mTo me why it’s good to have plan for this stuff)... I put the fire out and may need a new oven but at least it saved the kitchen and the home...point of all of this... they technicians expertise in the fire safety industry and professionalism to note what my home was missing is more valuable than any service provided. Super profession and courteous. I felt like they cared about my home and my family with they way they did their work and answers my questions. In the end this all saved my house tonight!!! 5 stars all around.

Brandon was totally awesome! He serviced and cleaned my gas fireplace today and installed all new smoke and co alarms. There was a tiny gas leak in fireplace and he recommended I call gas company to be certain the gas leak was ok. Gas company came in to check and the very first words out of their mouth were OMG I’ve never seen a cleaner fireplace in my life!! Gas company said the leak measured too low to be dangerous and everything looked GREAT!! Brandon was extremely professional and knowledgeable and really knew his stuff and took all the time I needed to explain and answer all my questions. What a great investment!I thought my new dryer wasn’t working. When Smoke Alert came out they removed a bird’s nest, a dead bird and a plastic bag from my vent! They also were able to install a better vent that’s bird proof, put on a better tube in the back of my dryer AND checked all my smoke alarms.You will find them very friendly and punctual. Brandon with Smoke Alert identified a mistake made when my roof was replaced almost a year ago. He provided pictures and a detailed report so I could communicate clearly with the roofing company and have them fix an issue that could have been a very dangerous fire hazard. Now that the issue is fixed he is coming back to complete the clearing of the dryer vent, and the price I paid for the first visit counts as a credit towards completing the job. Brandon came out and cleaned our very long dryer vent run. He was in contact before he got here to let me know est. arrival time, was very friendly and professional, explained clearly what he would be doing. Then he did the cleaning. The vac they use is DEFINITELY not a shopvac. Ours vents to the roof (!!!) and the run has a couple 45deg bends. Weve been here for almost 3 years and havent had it cleaned yet. Ill feel much better the next time I use the dryer. Then he discussed general fire safety and examined our fire extinguisher in the kitchen. He made a suggestion on where a better location would be and why and then asked the age of it. Its old - I thought about 10 years. So I bought a new one as part of the visit and it is where he suggested. Later I did some digging and found the receipt - the old one was 20 years old!!! Who knows if it would have worked! Great service. Ill use them again next year so we have a regular cleaning of the vent.

Love this company! I wanted my dryer vent cleaned out to make sure it was free of lint. They came out quickly and on time. Technician was professional and thorough. He did the service and provided a complimentary check of the house for fire safety. Including checking smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.

Dryer vent cleaning professionally performed by moving the dryer, checking the flex hose connections, blowing up the dryer vent pipe, cleaning inside the dryer and closing it back up. They also checked our fire extinguishers, smoke detectors & CO detectors. Job well done!
