The problem may be with the internet site. I drove here because it was supposed to be open. It was not. If hours change, media related to the store should be updated.

Not a bad shelter. The check-in process is a bed disorganized but once you are in it gets better. They give you a few days for free and then charge you 7 bucks a night. Still not bad for a bed and two hot meals.

I was desperately needing shelter and the Salvation Army in Galveston more than assisted me. They not only gave me emergency food and shelter but places to go for help in the day time while they are closed. Im truly grateful.

The help here at the Salvation Army is phenomenal when a person has the ability to come in and be treated like a human being and as long as they treat others like human beings and listen to what these people are trying to tell them and ask him to do the respect the dignity the owner of the staff is surpasses that of any facility Ive ever been in in my life being an alcoholic and a dope Feen for 35 years Ive lived in plenty of them so if you do come to this facility act like a human being and listen to these people so they can help you otherwise get out and dont come back

They will help you if you let them but you need to take responsibility for your actions. If you demonstrate that you are serious about changing your situation, the shelter staff and case managers do all they can to help you, if you need clothing they give vouchers for the store, they have a workers program that has semi private rooms and extended hours and they even provide sack lunches and dinners after hours if you come in from work late. They dont tolerate a lot of foolish behavior, drug or alcohol use, but if your serious about improving your situation that is a plus. Its all there if you want to get back on your feet but like they say god helps those who help their selves

Rude!!! Did not say hello, then when I was walking out carrying my jacket, the woman at the counter verbally attacked me in front of customers accusing me of stealing then after I walked out, she continued to tell customers that I was responsible for the thefts in the bathroom! I had never stepped a foot in there before and I never will again.

I was blessed with a voucher for clothes. But when I visit them, they had little to nothing to pick from. So I ask could I use it for Furniture. They said no. The amount doesnt change. And it still goes right back into the Salvation army. The things they recieve are donated. And they turn around and slap a high enough price on it. A blessing is a blessing.

Lots of great deals and often quality items. The one on Nasa Rd contains even higher quality stuff. It all depends upon the day you are shopping as well because sometimes things are marked down on specific days. Such as the first weekend in the month the one in Galveston usually has all clothes for a $1.00 and often up to 50% on everything else in the store.

I went here to see if they would help us after the hurricane we got placed over here and I had no idea where anything was we had nothing and they turned me and my 5 kids away sent me to Hitchcock high school and said they were giving stuff away I got there and nobody was in sight then I called and told them how I used the last bit of gas I had to get there and the rude lady would not put the manager on that told me this and she hung up on me I will never in my life or my kids life mess with the Salvation Army again!!

The most expensive Salvation Army store I have ever visited! How can you justify pricing your donated merchandise this high and not do more to meet peoples needs in the community? Salvation Army is taking advantage of peoples charitable nature and people within the organization are getting rich while people they are supposed to be helping are struggling! Shame on all of you!

Staff at this store are rude and they do not greet you, its like they go out of there way to avoid their customers. When you do ask a question you NEVER get a straight answer. God for bid if you have to use the restroom dont wait until you are in a hurry to use their restrooms because it takes forever to get there attention. Then they have to find the key and unlock it for you. These people just do not care about customer service. I thought Salvation Army was a Christian organization??????

So sad and very disappointment, how people can be so rude and play with people in need....i took my mom with a $350 dollar voucher for clothing that we got at mainland mall when they were given away the furniture voucher....a black lady was very rude, and she said that they were fake and took them from us and shredder them...I told her that how it was that possible....if it was a lot people who got those...she just respond to me that she was not going to give me those back because they were shredder..... I dont know where I can put a complaint because how can they were giving fake vouchers if they were helping with cleaning supplies and water...we made line like everyone us for hours and filled out an application like everyone us...... She was so rude that closed the door in our face without anymore explanation and just saying that she was there in that week and she was the one who was given those voucher.....there were staff helping in each table.... the staff from the tables were the ones given those clothing voucher on friday.....very disappointed.....

This is all about the resale shop.Things are donated to them for free then sold in the shop.Dont waste your time if you are looking for a deal. Just use craiglist or go over to goodwill. There are a few other clothes second hand stores in town that actually sell it for lower price. We originally went and just looked around and everything was just so expensive. I price shop a lot and to be honest some of the prices at this location you could by new cheaper at walmart. My wife and I are pretty poor and we were tired of sleeping on the floor so we started looking for a cheap bed. For the price they have their beds for I would be able to buy a new one.I just moved from Arlington and honestly this is the first Salvation Army that I have been to that had such a huge brand new building they built for themselves. They had moved from a perfectly good building down town by the looks of it also. This place isnt hurting for money so if you are willing to give extra money for over priced things maybe you should donate it to a charity that really needs it and shop somewhere else.

I was in need of help and went to the damednation army and found that it was a complete joke. first i would like to say that i was thrown out over a book and have no write ups of any kind and followed all the rules that change every day. i was there with the hopes they could assist my in getting back on my feet. WRONG!!!!!! They made it so hard to do anything and you cannot use any of the resources that they have there such as washer and dryer to clean clothes no t.v. and no support. The captain and his monster of a wife do the bare min. the have there so called transition housing that is full of drunks and drug addicts and they have also been caught cheating the hud program. i am a strong person and i will make it but i feel for the people that have no voice and i am in the process of contacting local news, papers, and goverment to expose them for what they are. they have thrown out handicap people that later were assualted on the streets. it is a shame and i will make dam sure i am heard.CHAD J.
