They converted my garage into a bedroom. The final result was excellent. The job included an electrical upgrade from 100A to 200A for AC, installing a high quality window and French door, making a built-in 16ft long floor to ceiling bookcase with a ladder on a rail, adding electrical outlets, and staining and painting. Also added was a CAT 6 ethernet outlet for smart home control for wifi Lutron light switch. The quality of the work is outstanding. I am particularly pleased with the stained custom bookcases. The stain on the bookcases complements the light shades in the wood look vinyl flooring. The crew was very responsive to little changes I would make as the work progressed, such as drilling holes to allow the ethernet cable to run from the outlet to the location of my table/desk and modifying the design of the closet. Chris was responsive to my text messages on any issue.

Called on a Saturday gentleman answered the phone and I inquired about having some repairs done fairly soon he was up front and explained that they would not be able to begin any new work for six weeks. If you cant do the work as requested this is the proper way to respond. Still gives a favorable impression that may lead to work in the future.

Outstanding customer service! Had a water leak at one of my Gainesville properties, Gainesville Restoration came right out...in the middle of the night and took care of the issue fast! I would highly recommend for restoration services!

My experience from the beginning was very poor with the company. The staff member named Russ came to my home and from the beginning had an attitude. He was constantly stalling on getting someone out to do our remodel/estimate/phone calls. He finally sent out a cabinet guy, which I never heard back from ever again. He mentioned he would set up a tour for me for some units when I returned from being out of town, and never called for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, he called me and asked, What happened to you? I stated Ive been waiting for your call for 3 weeks to line up the tours you promised me 3 weeks ago. He claimed it was a misunderstanding and that he would call me tomorrow to line up our tours. It has now been over 3 months and still no phone call. This company obviously doesnt need your money and has very poor customer service. The kicker is, my insurance company approved all the money the company asked for to do the job. I have the money in my hands and they never even called me back to get it. Ill happily be going elsewhere and hope they enjoy my thousands!.

They replaced our floors and did a horrific job. Cut so many corners, so upon first glance it looked good. However, as time has gone on, it’s come to light — They didn’t caulk the baseboards if furniture was in front of it. The pieces that separate flooring room from room come up. I am shocked to see such good reviews on them.

This company need to be destroyed.

I live in Arizona, but I have a second home in Gainesville Florida. The property management company called me a few months ago to tell me there had been flood in the house. I immediately panicked because being so far away I did not know who to call. I did what most people do, I searched Restoration Gainesville and found Gainesville Restoration. I had the property management company work with them and take care of everything. It was not until last week that I was able to get there to see everything, up until then I was just relying on pictures and the word of the Property Manager. I expected the worse because I did not think everything could be put back like it was before the flood. To my surprise, it looked like nothing had ever happened in the first place. I could not tell there had been a flood at all. I was satisfied with the job. Hopefully I never need this service again, but if I do I would use them again.

I am a native Floridian and a longtime Gainesville resident. I have used GRR on several remodeling projects and have always been very pleased with their work. I recommend them to all my friends and family.

I contracted this company to repair some water damage to my house. The actual work appears to have been done correctly and competently. However, Im not very happy with these guys for two main reasons, enough so to leave a one star review. The first, and probably most important, was that the estimate provided to me was not remotely reasonable considering the amount work that was actually done. The estimator made it seem like the amount of damage and work needed was far greater that it was in actually. The estimate at the time did not seem unreasonable based on what my insurance company told me water damage repairs typically cost, so I didnt have any real reason to question it, but based on the actual (not estimated) amount of work done, there is no way I received a fair deal. When I pointed this out to the owner, he wasnt particularly sympathetic with me (or happy that I was implying that I got a bad deal, which I suppose is understandable) and reminded me that I agreed to the terms of the contract (which I agree is true). However, PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE! Whenever you are getting an estimate for work, be sure to get an itemized budget for the work being done: how many hours at what rate, the specific material costs, etc. Had I done this before the work was started, I likely would not have been overcharged. If the company cannot provide you with an itemized budget for the work, DO NOT HIRE THEM! Next, their communication with me regarding the scheduling of the work was terrible. After I paid the deposit, I never heard back from anyone at the company until one day workers showed up completely unannounced at my house (I luckily happened to be home sick that day). When the workers finished that day, they told me they would be back first thing the next day to continue, so I planned to stay home again, but no one showed up the next day, or the day after that. For more than a week, I waited to be contacted by someone from the company, until finally I got fed up and called them myself. When I spoke with the owner and voiced my concerns about what had transpired, he seemed completely shocked as to why I would possibly be upset by any of what had happened and at no point apologized for the transgressions. He kept telling me he was trying to help me out almost implying that he was doing this work for me voluntarily, which I felt very offended by considering that I was paying him to do the work. Im definitely disappointed with the way this turned out considering all the good reviews theyve received and their high BBB rating. I suppose my experience could be just an anomaly, because no company will probably ever leave every single one of its customers satisfied, but future customers should definitely be aware of what happened to me before getting involved with this company.

We have used Gainesville Restoration in the past with our clients and had no issues. Just recently we were out on a call at 2am and I called the owner, Chris. I had informed him about an issue where my customers home was flooded with sewage. Within 35 minutes Chris arrived and started doing his assessment. By the time I left, clean up was well underway. The next day we received another call from the customer informing us of the great care Chris and crew provided for them. Great Job Guys!!!!!!

My experience took place in the fall of last year. If you are looking for an unscrupulous company that specializes in ripping off insurance companies and homeowners, youve found the right place. I had a leak in an upstairs shower that had damaged the ceiling below. A plumbing repair company cut a hole in the ceiling and referred me to Gainesville Restoration. I let a few weeks elapse without using the upstairs shower and the affected area was almost completely dry when the Gainesville Restoration people came. They set up a fan and a dehumidifier, making no mention of the cost. After three days I asked them to remove the equipment. The final bill was $722.69 for having the fan and dehumidifier running for 3 days ($106.24 per day plus other fees for equipment setup, assessment of damages, 10% overhead and 10% profit). They appeared to think that my insurance company would pay this fee. When the insurance company did not seem willing to pay up, they sent the bill to me. The cost of this dryout was completely unreasonable. I can document the fees they charged. Do not use this company!

This is absolutely the worst excuse for a restoration and remodeling company I have ever had to deal with. I reported them to Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the Insurance Company that recommended him, and to the local Alachua County Building Department. This company does not know what a contract is, how to treat people that have suffered major loss in their life, and does not manage employees that they are responsible for. It is pretty sad when you write your review for your company..It is the one by Chris Pickering, he gave himself a 5 Star Review..need I say more.... Well then I will. They did not turn on the emergency temporary electricity or provide temporary plumbing as required for employees and owners to simply use the bathroom.

Contacted GRR to get an estimate to remodel our bathroom. We wanted to eliminate our tub and do a stand up shower. They came out the next day to look at what we wanted and had an estimate to us by the end of the week. We did recieve other bids some higher some lower but the difference was they made us feel like we where more than just a job, they spent countless hours helping us to make our vision a reality. Job was completed within the time frame they gave us and the work was flawless. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to remodel.

We had water damage to our home recently from a slab leak, we looked online and found Gainesville Restoration and so glad we did. They came out within 30 mins of us calling and were able to find the leak repair it and get our home dried out. The service was fast and there crew was second to none. They worked with me every step of the way with the repairs and insured all my needs were met.

I have had bad service before and think most people have for the various repairs you have to get as a homeowner, but never anything like this. I co own a rental house with someone and this company must have signed up with USAA who I thought screened them or something but apparently they were just able to sign up and maybe just be licensed and insured. They were supposed to give an estimate for a roof and the day before that, the ceiling caved in from a leak at the rental house. I called them since they were already coming the next day. They came out and tarped the roof, removed debris where ceiling had caved, and put in fans and dehumidifiers. They were there less than 1.5 hours and said they had to go 5 minutes down the road to their shop and get another fan/dehumidifier and put them in the house. They did nothing else except come pick up their tarp and equipment which was well less than 3 hours of work. They called me when I was out of town a week or so later to tell me the bill is $3605.00 I was sure he must have said $360.05 as that made more sense than what he told me and I asked him if that is what he meant. You could tell he knew this phone call was not going to go well and that he must have dealt with this before and he was mostly quiet. I am sure they were hoping to collect big money from insurance, but insurance only paid $1k for what was a few thousand dollars besides this cost of remediation. We offered $1000 for what seems worth less than this to me, but they lowered the cost to the low price of $3000. Apparently they can charge major money for the hours their fans and dehumidifiers run. They gave no cost or estimate before this service either and I see why because no one would ever agree to that. Have only met one person that has actually used them before and she said she would never use them again.

The owner David Carmen was very young & inexperienced. The job took way longer than I was originally told. After my shower was completely redone, there were so many errors. One especially a large crack in the title behind the toilet. (I over heard him on the phone with Rex, who bidded the job at Restoration Specialist & David was told to hide the crack with the toilet. Long story short, the whole bathroom had to be redone by another company. Do NOT use this company!!!!!

Worst handling of emergency roof repairs imaginable. SLOPPY. The price just kept climbing, and the owner wanted paid before the work was started. I dont trust the owner to even stand by his employees work.

I have used GRR for years and recommended them to all my clients. I would not think to call anyone else for restoration and remodeling services.

We had Gainesville Restoration (GRR) do two things:1. Tile the house.2. Redo the kitchen cabinets.GRR didnt end up doing either of these things. They didnt supervise the work as it was being done. They had Creative Cabinets do the cabinets (they were very good) and another guy do the tile. GRRs only job was to make sure that they both got done correctly and on time.When we were initially emailing, GRR explicitly said that installing the sink and faucet were included. In the contract we signed, it said in the fine print that GRR doesnt do any plumbing. We missed that before we signed and we had to hire someone else to do that.When they tore out our bathroom sink they left it in the middle of our driveway.We gave them 6 weeks of lead time to build the cabinets, and it still took 2 months after they started to finish the project because things werent ready, scheduling errors, and mistakes that needed to be fixed.GRR changed our plan for the kitchen, didnt follow up with my e-mails in response, so some things are just done not how we wanted it. They were able to redo one of the cabinets and they did have to redo the laminate. It want worth doing anything more as they would have had to tear it all out.We wanted to keep our sink and garbage disposal. Chris from GRR told us that the sink was damaged and was thrown away. When I asked about the disposal Chris went silent and followed up with an I dont know. The undamaged sink showed up a couple of days later.The tile guy left a 2 inch gap by the door to the garage. The threshold needs replaced, so the tile guy didnt tile to it. GRR had the tile guy show up unannounced at 6 AM to just fill it in with grout. GRR told us that they could only fix the gap by filling it in with grout or to replace the entire door. We left the grout but it is already cracked.We down scaled our project initially and Chris adjusted the prices of the items we kept up a little because there was profit built into the prices. For example, the cost of doing the cabinets went up from $5,680 to $7,780. We made the cabinets stained, which added $475 for the stained grade cabinets. $5680+$475 = $6155. $7780-$6155 = $1625 in profit for them that they shifted from the other parts of the project we cut. No problem. We are paying them for a service.When we got our bill, Chris added $2000 onto the estimate and said it was all costs that were passed onto him from the people that did the work. He said that the only money they made was the additional $344 that he tacked onto the end of everything he added to the bill. In other words, there was no profit that was, as he said before, built into the prices.GRR made it very clear that you pay or get a lien, so you sign your name and you just gotta pay.Dave S

I used Gainesville Restoration twice and they did a great job both times. The first was Christmas Eve. The house was empty and one of my neighbors observed a water leak at my house. He turned off the water supply and called the realestate agent who was attempting to sell the house. He called me, and I called my insurance company who sent Gainesville restoration to the house. They went out to the house Christmas Eve, removed the damaged floors and walls, dryed the house and made the repairs quickly and effectively. The second situation was after a house inspection by a perspective buyer found some damage in the exterior walls that needed to be repaired quickly in order to finalize the sale. Again the work was done quickly and well. I reccomend them without reservation.

Just awful. Had to call several times with rarely a call back. Finally someone comes out to look at the work to be done and we never hear from him again. And that was several months ago! :(
