We have been using Rapidan Plumbing for a few years now. From unclogging clogged tub and shower drains, to replacing and installing hot water heater and sump pump to fixing and replacing toilets. recently we had a new toilet installed. Unknown to us and Rapidan, the toilet had a hairline crack up underneath inside the toilet which caused a slow leak and then water damage. Rapidan found the leak with the toilet, worked to have the floors repaired and the ceiling painted. The owner of the company came out to inspect and we could not be happier with then results. Top notch service. Highly recommend.
My sump pump failed and my basement flooded. They arrived within an hour and replaced the pump. J.R. did a great job. They are a little pricy but the quality of the work was great. Would recommend.
Called in Saturday morning to fix leak in sink. Arrived, fixed and departed within 2 hours of my initial call. Service techs friendly and efficient.
I cannot say enough good things about Caleb Newton from Rapidan Plumbing. During a recent plumbing emergency, Caleb came out to our house on a Sunday, implemented a stop-gap measure, and was back the next morning with the parts and equipment needed for a permanent fix. Throughout the process, he explained every step thoroughly, was polite and efficient. At all times, he tried to mitigate our inconvenience at having to do without water. He was completely professional and my husband and I would recommend him unequivocally to anyone needing an experienced and trustworthy plumber.
So thankful we used Rapidan plumbing for our well inspection yesterday! Not only were they timely with the inspection, they were knowledgeable, very helpful in explaining our situation and teaching us what to look for and what not, and very friendly. Thank you again for helping these first time home owners feel confident and educated in our future home!
These 2 stars are for the prompt response time out to my property towards the end of the day. While I appreciated that, I did not appreciate the insane quote they gave me of nearly $1800 to replace my well pressure tank and T valve assembly.I paid them $59 for their service call fee, and sent them on their way. I studied up on Google and YouTube, and ended up doing it all myself for under $300. I feel bad for anyone in a pinch that has to bend over and pay these prices. I understand companies need to make a profit to stay in business, but this is outlandish.
Jason and partner dealt with 5 inches of water in my basement due to sump pump failure. They offered multiple detailed, well-explained options and quickly executed the one selected. When I had questions regarding other plumbing system sin the house, he followed up immediately with phone estimate and phone call. Rapidan continues to provide responsive, professional service.
Like all businesses it depends upon which serviceman you receive. I have used several plumbers over the years. I will HIGHLY recommend Caleb ! He is an excellent plumber, upfront and fair. Along with that he is a warm human being :-)Ive used him over the last few years for many jobs and will always ask for him !!
Service was great! Very professional and great at cleaning up any mess from the job! I would recommend his service. The only negative in my opinion was the price seemed on the high side. Maybe not since I didnt get quotes.
Jason, the Rapidan technician just left our home, having repaired/replaced 2 hose bibs and pipes. Very pleasant, efficient and explained what he was doing in laymans terms...could not be more pleased with his work! Great job Rapidan!!
June 2018. Past service was good, so I scheduled with Rapidan again. I was charged $50 for the visit. The tech told me it would cost $338 - flat rate - to hook up my ice maker. I was floored...I asked several times about different possible hookups but his answer was always. $338 - flat rate - do you want the service or not? No explanations or clarifications, just a Take it or leave it attitude. After the third terse response, I left it.I went online when I came home and found out that all I needed to do was connect my existing water line to the ice maker via a not readily visible port; a simple 5 minute job. I felt stupid for not understanding how simple it was, yet Rapidan plumbing was going to completely change the water connection (which I know know was totally unnecessary) and charge me $338. This company is not to be trusted and will scam you for services you dont need. DO NOT CALL THEM for service
Very nice job installing a new pressure tank for our well pump. The service was done the next day after making an appointment. Nate and Chad were friendly and knowledgeable. Although I thought it a little costly, it confirmed the old saying, You get what you pay for. It was quality work and we are quite satisfied. Thanks Nate and Chad for a job well done.
Only used them once, but what I can say that if you are between a rock and a hard place you should do your best to find someone else. Had to replace a pipe because of a leak - Every other plumber was busy so I had no choice. Two hours later over $800.00. I have several rental properties and that prices should have been at the most $400 and that on the high end. The star reflects price not necessarily their work .
Excellent, timely, quality solution to the plumbing issue in my home today. I highly recommend! Ask for Caleb for your plumbing service calls. Thank you Rapidan Plumbing and Caleb!
JR C. didnt just solve our problem, he also addressed other lingering issues that couldve caused more problems down the road. He was thorough, precise, and informative. Hes a great technician.
Brian Stone and his assistant Jordan provided superb service as they expertly conducted three separate installations and repairs. They arrived on time! Both were very polite and business like. He clearly spelled out the tasks to be performed and provided all pricing information. Showing great attention to detail, Brian and Jordan were very careful about preventing any damage to my home and in cleaning up their work sites. They did quality work, only going as fast as the detailed, meticulous work they performed would allow. While I certainly dont want anything else to break down, I would enthusiastically welcome Brian back to provide his outstanding service. Great value for the money.
Mr. Gaumer and his helper arrived on time and did an excellent job they were very informative and knowledgeable about what they were doing.I will definitely want to use him again.
The service call included three different jobs, and our technician, J.R., did an excellent job scoping out the work and providing numerous options to consider in his cost estimate. Although the total cost was on the expensive side, I thought it was ultimately well-earned considering J.R.s tenacity to resolve several issues that were encountered, including having to crawl into the crawl space to find the main water valve. He did a great job and was very professional.
Jason Gaumer came and gave an estimate to install a battery backup for my mother in laws sump pump on Monday 25 February. He was exceptionally professional and gave me time to research the system offered to ensure we were happy with what was being offered. He then performed a clean and professional installation of the system that same afternoon. Afterwards he walked me through the operation of the system and answered all my questions. He was a top notch representative for Rapidan Plumbing and I would recommend him to anyone needing service from this company!
Clearly, my issue is the same as everyone else who reviewed. My pregnant wife was home alone while I was away for work, and the septic pump stopped working. The technician arrived and asked to look at the system. Two hours later he presented my wife with a bill for 337 dollars, with no parts required. He claims that there was a connection that came loose and he soldered it...(I removed the control panel board and inspected it, I saw no freshly soldered pins.) He completed the work without asking and/ or informing her about the price, and when I called and asked how the bill was calculated, he said his fee for troubleshooting was 337 dollars. I asked if it was broken down hourly, and he said,No, my fee for troubleshooting is 337 dollars. He also informed me that had any parts been required, they would have been ADDED TO THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR! What is to stop them from performing work or creating fake work without asking you and charging any amount they want?! They clearly saw my pregnant wife was upset the septic was out and she was home alone and took advantage of her. I am filing an official complaint with the BBB of central Virginia for their billing practices and their inability to properly solve the issue, and I would recommend anyone else who has has a similar situation take place do the same. If the man bills 168 dollars per hour for service, that equals 348,000 a year and we all need to get into the septic business.
Our well went out on Friday morning. Called Rapidan at 9 and they had someone at our door by 10. Shawn and Jordan diagnosed the problem right away and we made a plan together to address some related issues longer term. The team was very capable, explained every issue and even worked through lunch to get us water again. Further they were very neat and left their work area as they found it. Very impressed with their commitment and work. We will call them for any future work. Thanks Rapidan and Shawn and Jordan.
Great guys!! Very professional, and friendly. Gave us options and professional opinions. Didnt try to sell unnecessary work. Definitely will use them for all our plumbing needs!
Service Tech showed up on time and was courteous, and very knowledgeable. Needed to have a toilet installed which I had purchased. $448 dollars to install...job took approx 75 minutes to complete. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Rapidan plumbing I highly recommend. I busted a water irrigation line while weed wacking and had water flying all over the place. Called them and they had a technician out in 20 to 30 minutes and Caleb had it fixed in no time. I would do business again with them. Thank you Rapidan and Caleb for saving me today!
I called Rapidan plumbing for a shower leak in my master bathroom. J.R. showed up and provided me with a great deal of information to consider. He pinpointed several areas where there was leaking, and spent at least an hour at my house methodically walking through all of the probable leak scenarios. He provided information on how to fix it, and gave me several estimates. Throughout the entire process, he was highly knowledgeable, professional and courteous. I would trust J.R. with any plumbing issue, and I will recommend Rapidan Plumbing to any of my friends who might have plumbing problems in the future.
Im giving them a big ZERO not because they do bad work, but because they over charged me for my Job. I had a leaky shower faucet that had to be replaced. I needed the job done within a day because I was going on vacation and did not want to come back to a flooded house. I felt they took advantage of my situation and charged me more than was reasonable. I will never use them again and will not recommend them to anyone. I called them because Ive been the area for years and have know the business name for many years. The tech was between a rock and a hard place. He was very embarrassed to have to charge me so much. I paid them reluctantly.Mike Va.
Rapidan Plumbing people are very professional, constantly looking to make it go right for the customer. I have had various occasions to deal with the companys management and I was always impressed by their constant attention to details, quality and service.I strongly recommend this company for your plumbing needs or if you are looking for a job in the industry!Patrick Valtin,CEO New Era Management, INC.
I just wanted to tell you that we had Shaun and Hank over yesterday and they ended up replacing our well pump and then troubleshooting to locate a leak we didnt know we had. They did a great job. The gnats and mosquitos were swarming, the sun was beaming, and it was so humid. But they never complained and were very professional during the whole call. Great job guys, thank you!
VERY overpriced!!!! Used them once and got ripped off - there are plenty of great plumbing companies in the area - definitely not a happy camper - once was enough! Shop around!
They are very courteous and professional with the services they provide they are on time and do excellent work I would recommend them to everybody they have a great staff a professional technicians and a great staff in the office as well they can accommodate your every need
AVOID. RUN AWAY. I had a leaking pipe, the service tech comes out, next thing I know as a result of his inspection, I have a broken pipe shooting water all over the basement. So he gives me a quote to fix it that is crazy high, and charges me $50 for the analysis. In their defense - out of the kindness of his heart he offers to put a stopper in the pipe so I wont be without water. Now my home warranty wont cover the problem because another tech broke it, it wasnt normal wear.So I call the company. Out of the goodness of his heart the manager Tommy calls to tell me they arent willing to do anything about it but honor the original quote. Perfect. I had to put in at least one star to post this.
Brian is a dedicated professional who provides excellent service and gets the job done right.
Woke up on New Years Eve with no hot water and a leaking 15 year old water heater. I called the original installer who told me they couldnt geet to us until after the holidays. I called Rapidan and Troy was at my house 30 minutes later. Not your typical installation, our water heater also feeds a radiant floor heating system in our basement. Locating a suitable replacement with enough capacity and BTUs took awhile, but the Rapidan team found what we needed. Troy had to make some modifications to the existing plumbing to accommodate the new water heater and upgraded our expansion tank. His work was professional and thorough. Thanks to Troy and Rapidan Plumbing we were able to begin celebrating the New Year with hot showers. Highly recommended!
At 545 Wednesday morning my daughter yelled down that the shower would not turn off; hot water was spewing from the faucet. Much running and partial dis-assembly later, it was confirmed that the fix was beyond our knowledge and the house water was turned off. Just before 7 I requested a service request from Rapidan. At 7:30 I had a call back, offering to have someone there at 8. I was at Lowes, buying a new faucet (the wrong kind… but that is another review) and wasnt sure I could be home by 8, so we made it 8:30. Shawn arrived a little early (yay!), explained the problem with the purchase I had made (swapping brands is not trivial), verified that he had parts to give me a couple of different options. I chose one. He worked hard to get that last bit of broken rubber out, installed the new part, and by 9 he was on his way, having fixed the problem and cleaned up perfectly. As early morning disasters go, this was so easy and pleasant! Rapidan is my new hero.
Caleb Newton has been to our home for a number of service visits. He is always extremely professional, he provides outstanding service to us and it is always a pleasure to have come help us with plumbing problems. Thank you, Caleb!
Just because theyre in your phonebook doesnt mean they service your area. Surprise! And just because its a big job that will cost $5-$6,000 doesnt mean that they wont try to charge you a $100+ service fee for the technician to come out to do an estimate.Riiiiiiiiiight.
I would not recommend them to anyone. We had a leak from our kitchen sink disposable needing to be replaced and we were quoted almost $900 for it to be replaced. We called them to make sure that was the only problem and it wasnt something more serious. When my husband said be could buy a disposal at lowes for about $150 and have a family friend help us replace it he was basically laughed at my the technician. We felt like we were being taken advantage of because we are young home owners. Theres no way a disposal that takes 30 minutes to replace should cost almost $900.
In March of 2011 we contracted with Rapidan Plumbing to replace the existing copper drain lines in the crawl spaced of our home. The home, a was built in 1963 and originally. had one full bath, utility room and kitchen. There was a half bath added in the 80s. According to the receipt for work done, they replaced existing copper from drains and installed PVC to the tune of $2,707.37. In March of 2015, I discovered that there was a leak in the copper drain line up in the wall under the kitchen sink. This leak had apparently been there for quite some time, and in fact may even have been there when the copper in the crawl space was replaced 4 years earlier. Again I called Rapidan Plumbing and expressed my concern that this should have been detected and repaired along with the replacement of the copper in the crawl space They informed me that we had the option in 2011 to replace the copper in the wall, however, there is no option on invoice that addresses the replacement of the copper in the wall, or that we declined such option. At this point, they capped off the copper in the wall and did a shoddy of job of running a new drain line straight through the floor of the cabinet and the subfloor and informed me that the sub floor and joist were soaked and kindly submitted a new invoice in the amount of $1,045.63. Fast forward to January 2016, after installing a dehumidifier in the crawl space and drying out the subfloor, I find that I have a weak spot in the floor of the kitchen and am now faced with replacing a large section of subfloor and new floor covering. To add insult to injury, in the process of getting estimates on the replacement of the floor, I find that a 30 foot span of PVC that was installed by Rapidan Plumbing in 2011 was not supported properly and has a swag in the middle that is holding water and debris and that the weight has resulted in a crack in the joint going into the drain. Another potential leak in the making, and resulting in another repair bill. But not with Rapidan Plumbing this time, as I would not recommend them at any cost. I hope this will make future customers think twice about hiring a company that 1. does shoddy work and 2. Does not fully explain the problem and the repairs needed to the customer. A small leak in the wall under the sink that could have been repaired relatively easy in 2011 resulted in over $1,500 additional plumbing repairs in 2015 and will cost approximately another $3,000 in repairs to the floor and installation of new floor covering.
Rapid response, excellent work, sky high price ($400 to replace a leaking inline valve. Parts
Good work friendly technician who was on time. Only problem was price very expensive but needed the repair.
Id like to revise that to zero stars. Had an emergency situation where the expansion tank on the water heater broke off. These guys were first available so I went ahead and used them. 45 minutes of labor, a small expansion tank and some gluing of PVC piping = $945.00. I was a bit blown away by the price, but I went ahead and paid. After the fact, out of curiosity, I called 3 other companies for a quote. I got $300.00 at the most. So, I called Rapidan to question their price. Apparently, its b/c they have flat pricing. To glue 2 pieces of pipe together costs almost $500.00. I called and called to see if they would adjust the fee considering the other quotes. You guessed it. No response. Learned my lesson. Will never use them again.
Cost was very high for the amount of time spent to unfreeze pipes!
Receptionist was rude!! First impresions are EVERYTHING so I chose another service. Thanks but NO THANKS!!! If I could I would give zero stars.
Worst pricing they told me $600 to $900 for work when another company only charged me $150
Awesome
