Our old dog was diagnosed with lung cancer. We realized it was time for him to go to the rainbow bridge. Unfortunately, this was on a Sunday so our vets office was closed. They said I could bring him right in. Its was around 11am and there was no one else there. They were very friendly and consoling. They asked us if we needed more time and left in it our hands for when we were ready. I really like that because I didnt feel rushed. They were very professional letting me know what they were doing at each step of the way. They gave me a complimentary paw print in plaster which honestly, meant so much to me. What a great gesture. I thought we were going to have to carry his lifeless body out in a blanket but they took care of that and placed him in a nice box for us and we were able to get him from the back door which gave us privacy. A few days later, they sent a sympathy card in the mail that everyone had signed. Im thoroughly impressed with this place! I can see your typical vet doing stuff like this, but this is an emergency place and we had never been there before. I highly recommend coming here for your pet. Thank you all for the wonderful service.-Josh, Kaitlin and Comet.

Care came recommended by my primary vet office after my dog ate the leg off of my sweatpants. They were concerned that the surgery might have complications that would be better handled in a place equipped and ready for them. It appeared that the fabric had moved through several parts of his digestive system. If it was a straight forward removal my primary vet would have done it. I was impressed that Care took the time to carefully evaluate the situation. My dog was stable so a day was given with IV fluids to see if it passed in its own. It did not. After more imaging a decision was made to proceed with surgery. I was kept informed of the progress, testing and decisions being made at all times. I was able to call in the middle of the night for updates. The surgery was successful and he was kept for observation until we were sure he was ready to come home. Yes it was an expensive surgery. However, a conservative approach was taken first. The staff at Care were compassionate and helpful. The doctor was knowledgeable and communicated every detail of what was happening. In an emergent situation I would definitely return to Care with my animals.

My cat was attacked (I think by a stray cat) and had an injury on his leg. Our normal vet didn’t have any appointments available so we went to CARE. Everybody was so nice and we were in and out in less than 2 hours. My cat is on the mend with two staples, antibiotics and pain meds. I will definitely return if we need additional vet emergency care.

Took in my 2 yr old cat since the closest vet to me wasnt accepting new patients until later--and I needed my cat to be seen fairly quickly. All of the folks at CARE were super friendly and speedy. The tech and doctor I met were also very friendly and were thorough in asking what was ailing my cat so that appropriate tests could be made. I hope I wont have to visit the ER again, but if I do, I will visit CARE again for their great service.

They really treated my cat and us with dignity and respect. Unfortunately our cat, Buddy, was too sick to help but they helped us so much with making the right call for him. They handled all the details of his cremation and really made us feel as well as we could in the situation. I will always be grateful for them and their amazing bedside manner and really living up to their name of care.

Only go if your pet is criticalThe only reason this place even gets one star is because the actual vet and vet tech that saw my cat was actually nice and informative. The receptionists were absolutely awful. There was no communication as to what was happening with my pet while he was inside. We got him checked in at 4:45 pm and we werent able to pick him up until 9:20pm--after waiting two hours without hearing anything I called to check on the status and got put on hold for so long that the voice-mail picked up--figuring they were busy I waited a few minutes before calling again. When I finally got through I was told they were going to go check and got put on hold--again so long I got picked up by voice mail--so I hung up and called again. When I finally got an answer it was 2 hrs after we got there and he hadnt even been seen yet!I understand they prioritized critical patients--but not hearing anything for over 2 hours? If there were so many critical patients, why couldnt they let me know so I could take my cat somewhere else?Right when I was going to demand to get my cat back they magically could see him--but it wasnt until an hour later that I got a call from the vet about what was wrong. The vet herself was very nice and informative--and helpful about what we were able to do within my financial means at the moment--and she told me reception would call me about paying and giving me my pet back.It was over an HOUR after that and I didnt hear a thing from the clinic--I had to call them and say I was going to pay and pick up my cat. And once I paid it was another hour before I could even get my cat. My father who was with me the whole time had to go up to the door and ask why it was taking so long since they were done seeing our cat, we already paid, so why couldnt they give him to us.They said no one was available at the moment--they had plenty of staff taking patients in but not enough to take 2 minutes to run one out?? I didnt even get the medication I was supposed to get with my cat.Since my cat wasnt critical, I should have waited until tomorrow to take him to our regular vet.

I want to thank all the staff at Care for the compassion and professionalism they showed me and my boyfriend on Sunday Sept 5. I had to take our 18 year old cat in-she was not doing well at all and from the moment we walked in they were kind, professional, and explained the options to us. They gave us time alone to make our decision on what was best for Phoebe. We unfortunately had to have her humanely euthanized but was very comforted by the care and compassion we received from all the staff. Thank you everyone for making that horrible day just a little better for us knowing Phoebe was loved and cared for.Sincerely, Marie MacLean and John Shreve

He was kept comfortable overnight and transferred to the surgery service first thing Wednesday morning.Dr Gellasch examined him and called with a surgical treatment plan. She was able to do his surgical repair and he came home the following evening. i cannot thank Dr Haring, Dr Gellasch, the vet techs, assistants and front desk staff enough for the wonderful care they took of my boy. I took my dog there yesterday July 28, the receptionist told me there was a 2 hour wait which I understood that. After 5 1/2 hours I called down I was very polite on the phone, I asked the status of my dog I got talk to very rudely and yelled at by the receptionist about she was not a priority patient. I know she was a priority 3 patient and priority 1and 2 goes first but I did not deserve to get talk to like that on the phone. And for her information if she reads this I do know how a hospital emergency room is run. After 11 1/2 hours my dog sit in a cage, the night shift Dr Who just came on for the night saw her. She said that was ridiculous that they left her sit there that long with not being seen. She had a severe urinary track infection. I would like to think that Doctor Who took the time to see her but I will never use there facility again.

I arrived with my pet at 1030am. I was not told how long I should wait or if I should wait at all. A few hours of sitting in the parking lot later I received a call telling me I could leave if I wanted. I was told he would be seen in a half an hour. A few more hours later I was told he was being seen. I asked if he had been fed and watered at a minimum since he had sat in pain for the last 7 hours and was told they have had other animal to treat. I have been in the parking lot the entire time and have seen the few animals that have come and gone during that time. I urge everyone with another option to avoid this facility. They have not communicated properly nor have they provided a level of care for my animal I believe to be appropriate. Not to mention the fact that their prices are outrageous. Please stay away.

IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET, NEVER BLINDLY TRUST CARE VETERINARY CENTERIf I could give Care Veterinary Center a fat ZERO I would. July 20, 2020 was the last time our pet had something to eat or drink, usually he comes in & out the house & usually home by 7:30 am -8:00 am. July 21,2020 we noticed he wasnt home. We searched everywhere and finally at 2 pm we found him under next door neighbors bushes, we pulled him out he was weak could barely moved. You can imagine with the heat scared can barely see. We rushed him. I gave him water while my fiance called the vet. We took him to CARE Veterinary Center. We arrived at 2.56 pm we called, they came got him right away. We thought, WOW! that was fast! They took him in. We could not go in due to COVID-19. Okay no problem well be here waiting. 2 hours later5 pm called to get status---he has not been seen yet, they were busy, but is next to be seen. Okay7:30 pm called to check the statusOur cat has not been seen & hell be seen by the doctor at 8:15 pm theyre in the middle of shift change. REALLY8:30 pm still has not been seen.9:30 pm the doctor calls- tells us, list of laundry he needs & will need to keep him overnight. Cost about $2,000. Gave the down payment. Went home.Mind you, there is no updates-unless I called, were sitting in the parking lot for over 7 hours. Each time I called I got a different answer from hes next to be seen, hell be seen in within 45 minutes etc... we watched the parking lot being cleared out 4 times, food delivery coming in, & no updates, out cat in unfamiliar environment, alone, hungry, dehydrated, no one seem to CARE talk about wanting to lose your mind.I began to do my research YELP, stories I was reading it was too familiar. At 10 pm...you guessed it, they havent even started on him yet, I told them to please stop working on him, I will be there in 20 minutes to pick him up & I did. Read Indeed employees review, Yelp etc.. there is a trend & will see why I chose not to continue with the treatment plan. For the sake of God its been over 7 hours & still he wasnt even given simple as water for his dehydration, when we arrived home he drank literally 1 cup of water, thats a lot of water for cat to drink, no exaggeration! You know something isnt quite sad even when their employees tell you, I dont blame you for wanting to take him out of hereI would avoid this place like a bad plague!! Read reviews, yelp, Google, check out what past employees are saying about CARE Veterinary Center, look for keyword & pattern. It is a sobering experience.

All of the staff members at CARE veterinary center are so attentive to both our puppy and us parents. We had 2 ER trips in less than 48 hours here with our 4 month puppy and I could not have asked for a better group of staff to be taking care of our baby! It was tough, especially with COVID not allowing us inside but they kept us updated every step of the way, and even told us we could call in the middle of the night to check on how our pup was doing (during her hospital stay). Even after when I am emailing them multiple times for invoices from a month ago, I get responses within a few hours every single time. While I hope we do not have to come back to the ER, if we do, we will certainly be coming back here! Highly recommend!!

Avoid this vet. What I witnessed was dishonest and unprofessional: In the wee hours of a Sunday morning, my dog ate garbage and by morning was gravely ill. I dropped him off at CARE at 9am. Over the next few hours, I received four phone calls from CARE and was asked each time if I wanted him put down. Each time I denied the request. I told them to save his life but they seem more interested in putting him down. The 4th call was to tell me he was going to die. I told them not to put him down because my family would be there in 15 minutes to say goodbye. We got there in 15 minutes and a different employee asked me if Id like to see the body. The body? I asked. You see, he was dead and nobody was expecting us. It was horrible. It gets worse. CARE sent my regular vet their medical record in which they wrote that the owner (me) was indecisive about putting him down whereas I had clearly and unequivocally denied their request to put him down 4 times and directed them to save his life! I do not know if they killed my dog but they sure seemed reluctant to save him, then lied about my wishes. This place does not deserve your service.

I do not like to share bad experiences, for I feel that sometimes people have a bad day. However, not this time. We called in advance to verify that they can take my dog (who was bitten by another dog) and they said that they had two other dogs in the queue. It took 40 minutes to drive up for Gaithersburg and we arrive at 8:45pm. Called and by 9 am then took my dog in. 30 min later I called them and for anybody’s and the receptionist has no clue about what her job was about. We get to the point about my dog and she matter of fact that my dog was waiting her turn in the cage. I informed her that I would have been happy to hold her and the bleeding. She said they have her. 30 min later I call again for an update and it’s the same, other emergency pets are being treated. However, there were non we cars in the COVID area! I asked if her wound was managed and she replied that they took care of her. For the next 15min I read the reviews on google and I placed a call and pulled her out. As you can imagine NO gauze or bandage was applied.

I recently moved to the area and was limited in where I could take my cat for an emergency vet visit. A couple of the local vets recommended CARE. It was a 6 hour wait because there were other animals that needed immediate attention. I expected a wait, but I was a little frustrated that it took almost an hour to discharge my cat after the vet saw her. Other than that, everyone was really great and professional. Dr. Spiller addressed all my questions and talked me though everything. I especially appreciated that Dr. Spiller called the next morning to check in and give an update on the x-ray results.

They also do not proceed to tell me anything about taking off the bandage where her catheter was on her leg so i didn’t remove it til many hours later when i noticed her leg was twice the size of her other one. I wish i had the money to sue this place or even knew where to go to report them. Normally I don’t add reviews to Google, but I took my pet here yesterday and I was unimpressed by their bedside manner but their transparency, specifically with the charges to my card.I understand in Covid times it’s difficult to have a conversation about services because updates are over the phone, but why on earth are there no line items on the invoices sent after you pay?I was told over the phone what the services would be and I consented. I was emailed a receipt minutes later with no line items referencing individually the cost of each service. I was then “refunded” services when I went to pick up my kitten. I asked what services were being refunded and they were all services I never consented to when my card was charged the first time. If this was made in error, I would have appreciated transparency. Both invoices for payment did not specify what I was charged for so we’ll never know.In my opinion, it is the responsibility of the organization to create an empathetic and transparent environment when you are positioning yourself as an advocate for animals. The way events transpired yesterday did not instill confidence and trust which is what you need in an emergency with your fur babies. I will not be going back.

After x-rays and bloodwork were inconclusive, the vet worked to find me an emergency vet who could better handle the situation. CARE didnt answer the phone in a timely manner, so I had to drive my dying dog 30 minutes down the road (CARE was 10 minutes away) to an emergency vet that picked up the phone when they were needed. She survived the trip and was quickly diagnosed, treated, and stabilized. The first emergency vet and I had a plan to transfer my dog to a second emergency vet to see a cardiologist a day sooner than was available at the first emergency vet. In the overnight hours, while I couldnt sleep, I thought Id give CARE a call since they were closer to home. I was told you should go to CVCA. I found out later after searching for CVCA that they are colocated in CARE. This would have been helpful information that whomever answered the phone could have easily provided.I will gladly drive the 30 minutes back to the two emergency vets that helped my dog because they provided impeccable, transparent, reasonably priced, and caring service throughout my dogs time there.

I brought my cat in, who was suffering from a bladder stone, and the people told us we either had to pay $4000 for a surgery or put him down. When we decided to just take him home, they were very hesitant to give him back, calling us selfish and terrible owners. Now, roughly 3 months later, my cat is better than ever, after I spent 2 days giving him intensive care at home. If I had listened to the vet, I would either be short $4000 or a cat - likely both. Ive had friends with similar experiences here. If you genuinely care about your animal, dont ever take them to CARE, or you might just never see your pet again.

We have a sick 10 year old puggle that has been to a Vet in NC while I was out of town at our other home. Then he became sick again here in PA. We visited our local Vet. After days more medication and tests he did not improve.New Year’s Eve I put in an emergency call to my local Vet. They suggested Care Animal hospital if he did not get well. They said this place could do more than they could here because they are a complete hospital with an internist that can give and read the ultrasound which is one thing he would need ASAP. They could follow up with a Biopsy and help determine what he has and how to treat it.I called on New Years Day. They were very helpful friendly and took all our information on the phone. They asked how long until we would arrive. We were told to phone when we arrived at their office in MD.They came to get Ronaldo along with all his medication and took him in for the Dr Exam.My vet was closed so I did not have all the blood tests results that just arrived 3 days prior. They did not take the same tests because of money I had just spent. They took my word and asked a lot of questions to determine what those results were by asking me questions until we could get the records from both of my Vets. They were so friendly, they stated on the phone, then again when we arrived they were very busy with many bringing in their Pet at this time so we knew it could be a long wait. They examined Ronaldo and we spoke on the phone on what would be best for him. They gave me several options to decide what is best for us. They gave me prices up front so I knew what to expect. We decided he needed the ultrasound and they would keep him overnight. Called in the internist on the weekend, which cost more but my little guy needed !While waiting in the parking lot I read many reviews. I must say some of those reviews don’t reflect the great customer service, Doctor’s advice and several options we were given. We had great customer service! The Dr, the technician and the billing specialist were very professional, caring, friendly and courteous!I know some people are very upset when their Pet is sick, especially when it involves money to help that Pet heal.I’d ask those who understand the importance of having a great Care hospital like this for us to use, to know this is a very safe, caring, hospital for any of your Pets. A place where they care about your Pet and Pet parents and family. We are not done. My guy has a biopsy and more to come. Had a great experience with surgeon Dr. Austin who reviewed his lengthy history, answered questions and performed the surgery the next day. Kitty recovered nicely and is enjoying a new lease on life. As a bonus, the final cost was on the low end of the estimate.

Overall the years we have have many of our dogs seen at this hospital. I am not sure what has changed but while the doctors still seem good the service is very poor. Apparently they took in so many cases since Sunday that they were unable to properly share information regarding my dogs status. I was placed on hold for 30 minutes then eventually I hung up. This was around 7pm and the last anyone had called was 11am. I was told I could finally pick my dog up at 2030 and all the stuff would be ready. I arrived at 2040 and waited on hold for 15 minutes and finally got him home about 2130. Honestly this type of service and lack of compassion for the concerned dog owner is inexcusable. I understand that they were busy but the rude man on the phone and the lack of communication tells me that they are most likely not attending to my animal either.

Our 14 year old lab started to show signs of being sick. We cared for him for several days until he got to a point he couldnt walk straight. We noticed his stomach was swollen and hard. We rushed him to CARE and they took immediate action to diagnose our baby. They quickly did an x-ray and discovered a huge mass in his stomach. They gave us several options unfortunately we all agreed at his age it was best euthanize him. Dr Yarde and the staff were awesome with the care and respect they gave our boy and us. We got to spend as much time as we wanted with him and be with him to the end. It was a tough experience but the staff was great. We arranged to have him cremated and returned to us. The next day we received a card from everyone that was involved. Clyde came today and they did everything they promised and more. Thank you for being so CAREing!

Throughout the day my dog was having issues with his eye. At 7:15 I called and asked if they would be able to see us. We showed up at 7:20 and they immediately took my dog to check his vitals. I was told he would be seen in two hours. At 9:30 I called in again and was told the wait would be another 2-2.5 hours. Meanwhile food was delivered and multiple staff sat at the front desk talking and hanging out. I understand that workers need breaks, but I think it maybe have been more professional for them to separately take breaks or to take them out of view and for them to give people waiting outside updates on time. Many cars came after me and were able to leave before me. This ending up being a very stressful and aggravating experience. At 11:20 I called once again and was told it would be another 3 hours and that the veterinarian was moving slow. The staff then told me I could come tomorrow and that they wouldn’t charge me for checking my dogs vitals. We decided to leave and had to wait until 9 am the next day to go to another place. Not a very serious, apologetic, or progressional environment.

0/5 stars we had a cat with a bladder stone and it took almost 2 hours before they looked at him even though the parking lot was almost empty and there was staff hanging out in the reception area. They told us that we HAD to pay 3500 to have a surgery that would maybe help our cat and when we said we couldnt afford it they got mad at us telling us it was unfair to both the cat and to them. We eventually got them to give him pain meds and muscle relaxants so he could heal at home but while we were getting those medications for the cat they told us how inhumane it was for us to not be able to somehow afford the surgery. Less than a week later our cat was fully recovered and back to normal. These people are money hungry and are not willing to let animals heal without costing the owner thousands of dollars. THIS IS NOT AN E.R. THIS IS A MONEY HUNGRY VET THAT ONLY CARS ABOUT THE PAPER IN YOUR WALLET DO NOT GO HERE!

My partner took her 17 year old cat to CARE on Wednesday, 5/27. Unfortunately, he passed away that night. This was obviously devastating to her, as she’d had him since he was 8 weeks old. She opted not to have his ashes saved, but DID request a paw print in clay as a remembrance. They assured her it would be done that night and be available the next day, Thursday, 5/28. Thursday was spent grieving, but I said I’d go pick it up Friday, 5/29, after work. In that time, she confirmed TWICE, via telephone, that I could pick it up anytime. Friday came, I went to get it. After waiting about 10 minutes for the employee to bring it to me outside, I was informed that they had somehow forgotten to have it made, after taking our money to do so. I was then informed that they “would eat the cost of such”, as though they were doing her a favor in doing so, and that refunding the money for a service not rendered was not standard practice.Beyond the fact that this was my partner’s best friend for 17 years, and the lack of understanding or empathy demonstrated in their cavalier (at best) attitude regarding something that would have been her only physical remembrance thereof, the way in which I was told was just unacceptable. There is literally nothing they can do to rectify this appropriately. Appalled doesn’t begin to describe my feelings towards this office. Not even an apology was given regarding their blunder. Just, “this is what happened. Oh well. Bye.”UPDATE:After reading this review, Danielle from CARE contacted my partner and did everything in her power to rectify the situation to my partner’s satisfaction. I’m still fairly unhappy with the mistake made and the initial response to it, but I appreciate the effort to reach out personally and fix what they could, and will credit where it is due. Thank you, Danielle.

He had no sign of a dislocated hip according to them. They tried to charge me close to a 1,000 dollars for an x ray! And said he may not even have a fracture and most likely a muscle sprain. Had at least 5 different receptions speaking giving me a different price each time. Found a new place and charge me 200 for an X-ray. Took 3 hours before my dog was even seen. We had used CARE for the last several years for specialty vet care and emergency care. They had been great until this last visit. Last week we took our dog in for an emergency visit after we came from work to find she had multiple lacerations on her face and trauma to her right eye. Upon arrival they took her in (we waited in the car due to COVID restrictions) and they said the vet was finishing up with another pet and would see our dog shortly. After waiting two hours we had not received any updates so we called. We were told they were extremely busy and it would be a while. There was no indication she had even been seen by the vet to be properly triaged. Also, I am not sure how they define busy, but while we waited in the parking lot for two hours, we only saw two other people arrive with dogs (which were clearly not in any distress). Other than that, the parking lot was empty. I decided I would take my dog home and have her see my regular vet first thing in the morning because CARE did not intend to see my dog anytime soon. My vet saw and provided a treatment plan for my dog within an hour of her arrival at their clinic the next morning. My dog ended up requiring extensive treatment and multiple sutures/staples for her wounds. This was not a simple case, but a true emergency that needed prompt attention. Seeing CAREs responses to other similar negative reviews, they seem to blame the COVID environment for the extreme delays. It has been eight months since COVID restrictions were put in place and other businesses, such as our regular veterinarian, have successfully adjusted. I dont understand why CARE has not. I did read the employee reviews which others have suggested, which was enlightening. After my experience and reading the employees reviews it is clear to me that this place needs a management overhaul. Until then, I will not trust them with my pets medical needs.

Never before in my life, have I dealt with such incompetence. I dont know where the breakdown is, but the results are: The inability to tell time, the inability to count ( whether it be hours, or dollars, or pills for a prescription) and finally, the complete failure of attention to detail that allowed them to give me an empty pill bottle that should have had pain medication for my dog in it. If they cant tell the difference between pill and no pill, how am I supposed to trust them to tell the difference between right pill and wrong pill?

If I could give negative stars I would. This place was recommended by our vet as they could not see our dog for a leg injury. We called Care and let them know our dog hurt his rear left paw and has had a bad limp for 2 days and we believe he tore something. Tech there said to bring him in, that was at 9:30, we live an hour away so we arrived at 10:30. They came out and took our dog and said it should only be a couple hours. By 12:30 we had not heard anything, I called and they stated that it would be a little longer. There had been several other animals that have gone in and come out within 30 minutes. At 2:15 a tech brought out a dog to another family and my daughter got out asked them whats going on with our dog, the tech said that they are an emergency hospital and our dog was not a priority as he just had a limp and it would probably be another 6-8 hours, even though we told them we think he has a torn tendon or ligament. We called them and told them to give us our dog as they havent touched him, just put him in a kennel and didnt even give him any water for 4 hours! A torn tendon/ligament is not a priority, but booster shots are as several people showed up for that.I called my vet and advised them to never ever reccomend this hospital again. Luckily we found a place to be able see him and that actually care about your pet and wont just leave them in a kennel that isnt very big and no water. I would advise people to run in a different direction if they think about coming to this place.

I can only speak to my own experience, but they were able to see my dog on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend when every other vet in the area was closed. They helped save her life when she was going into shutdown with a rapidly spreading infection that came on overnight. They gave us a range of likely causes with similarly presenting symptoms (systematic infection, canine lymphoma, or fever of unknown origin as the scary alternative), and helped us pick a treatment plan that would leave all of our options open after we were able to get labs done when everything reopened on Tuesday. While we were incredibly lucky that the easiest to treat option was the conclusion, I really appreciate the care that the emergency vet and their oncology specialist were able to provide. They also seem like deeply caring people, who were incredibly sweet to my dog (who was experiencing a range of symptoms making her a challenge.)

We decided let him go because even at that there was no guarantee and possibly more surgery for 8-10.000. Next they said we would owe them 200. to put him down. Then it went to over 500. Then we said we would come get him and just bring him home and even though we paid over 1000 to help him until the morning they said we would owe them more money so we left him there. They might help other people but their caring didnt extend to us. The only thing I would complain about is when I called to check on him I felt the tech was irritated. Telling me the Dr said she would call me at 6 and get him discharged at 7. She was busy. We brought her home after a stay from Thursday evening about 9:30, until noon Sunday. She later had a problem after discovering they did not remove all of the stitches. We were thankful for the excellent Vet, but the corporation charged an exorbitant amount. Then to top everything off, we received a $400 bill four months later for special care. They threatened us that if we did not pay, they would turn it over to a collection agency. My opinion is that Care is taking advantage of the love that we have as pet owners.

My dog has lymphoma and I cant imagine having specialty treatment such as chemo anywhere else. I have been using CARE since it first opened, being one of the very first emergency care clients. Since that time CARE had treated both my previous pets, cats and dogs, and current pet, my best friend Lucy, a rescue mixed breed dog. I cant imagine life without Lucy and CARE is helping her to feel her best as she lives a quality life with a devastating disease. CARE is working closely with both of my vets, here in Maryland and at my moms in North Carolina where I spend a lot of time. When the time comes to make a decision for Lucy to prevent her from suffering then I will be confident that CARE will give me the best advice based on sound medical information and not based on trying to gain more financially from me. It is easy for the veterinary profession to offer care based on financial gain using the pet owners emotional attachment to their pets. CARE offers treatment options based on the animals needs and comfort with honesty and realistic outcomes and I appreciate that. They have always supported my decisions knowing that my ultimate goal is for my pets well-being and sometimes financial situations prevent me from going all out in treatments. Keeping the pet comfortable and ultimately supporting the very difficult decision to euthanize. Thank you CARE for years of helping me help my pets with such awesome compassion.

We have had 2 very bad experiences at this practice. The first time we brought our dog in for a small lump and they insisted that the only way to diagnose was to do an almost $2000 procedure. Thankfully we had the sense to get 2 other opinions both of which confirmed that a $200 test would more than suffice.A little while later we decided to give them another try and they let us down again...We took our dog in for imaging in the morning, when I had not heard anything by noon I gave them a call. They let me know that their machine had broken down and assured me that a tech was on their way and it would be fixed soon. At 3 oclock I had had no updates so I called again. The machine had still not been fixed and my pet had been in the back in a cage fasting all day. I told them this was unacceptable and I was on my way to pick him up. I asked if they could just give him something to eat since he had not eaten all day. Their response was we really dont have anything to give him. The vet did call me back to offer me a discount if I rescheduled. Nowhere in our conversation to the vet express any responsibility for their lack of communication. Based on their actions I can only conclude that they are a very financially driven practice. The vet did not even meet with me when I came in. I provided feedback to the assistant in a very calm constructive manner in hopes that they would understand how important is to communicate with owners and not allow animals to be in cages unecessarily all day fasting. These events occurred more than a year ago. I certainly hope that things have changed and that this review provides a perspective that you can use to make an educated decision when choosing your pets place of care.

The pricing that was given to me changed multiple times without clear explanation. The surgery they performed through no fault probably of their own didnt work and I ended up taking my dog to a different vet because the pricing was outrageous for the next surgery and it was like starting over and the options werent very clear. As a side note they refused to stabilize him without receiving the full payment first. Maybe every emergency vet does that. I dont really know but what I do know is prior to leaving my dog with them they agreed to accept the rest of the payment once I returned home to get the card info but while I was at the hospital caring for my husband who was also injured during the event, the representative called non stop saying without the full payment they wouldnt be able to stabilize him. It just didnt seem like they understood why I hadnt called back in 20 mins and I thought they already stabilized him before I left. I took him in as an emergency as he could not urinate, and he ended up staying for five nights under Dr. Phillips care. She is an excellent and knowledgable doctor as well as a sweet lady. All of the staff including the front desk reception and the technicians are very professional as well as caring and understanding. I was terrified that we were going to lose Gizmo this time, and they successfully managed his issues without invasive surgery and returned him home to us. The communication was also wonderful. Gizmo received great medical care and was treated so well during his stay. He received love and affection from all of the staff as if he was their own family member. They truly made me feel at ease. From one animal lover to another I would highly recommend them for all of your veterinary needs.

We took our 6 month old German Shepherd/Shiloh Shepherd mix puppy into the ER center due to a deeply lacerated paw. The attention to detail concerning his care was amazing. The kindness and personal attention to his care is amazing. I was expecting twice the bill but they are extremely reasonable for an ER center. This is a wonderful center, that diagnosis and assesses a situation with expertise, calmness and facts. I will feel safe and there is a high comfort level knowing that such a facility is close by if and when I need an ER center. The bill was $553.89 for comparisons. Dr. Jennifer King was the attending DVM. I have not seen the sight yet to know how the site looks, but will tomorrow. I will edit my post, with praise, I am sure....concerning the incision site.
