Did a very poor job with analyzing engine codes. Replaced the wrong part. Issue was not resolved. Code was still present. Tried to place blame on a defective replacement part which wasnt the case at all. Charged $260 then said about the still remaining issue. What do you want me to do about it? After spending another $340 for a tow truck, I myself...who isnt an auto mechanic by any means, replaced the CORRECT part ($48) which took all of 10 minutes to do. Cleared code...all has been perfect. Although Skips came highly rated thru a referral, avoid this shop by all means! I shouldve known something was up by how empty all the shop bays were. But I did have a referral from what I thought was a reputable source. Obviously, it was not.I am totally not concerned with the $260. I believe if someone needs to steal money from you and place their reputation on the line to do so than they must need money pretty badly (hence the empty bays comment). I completely believe in charity for the less fortunate so Skips can keep the $260. Obviously they need it more than I do.So...if youre looking for an honest repair shop that knows what theyre doing and stands behind their work, Skips IS NOT that place. However, if you believe in donating to the less fortunate, Im sure Skips will take whatever they can get out of you.

After my initial experience with Skips, and getting to know them, I am very happy to have found these folks. It is very rare to find a mechanic, rather than a parts changer. Its even harder to find a mechanic who knows his trade, is honest, and is concerned about the customer. If youre looking for these qualities, then Skips is your place. 5 stars from me.

One of the few good things about my last boyfriend was that he introduced me to Skip’s. Their prices are good, their work is solid, they communicate well and are responsive to texts and phone calls, and they are honest. I needed a part once and asked what the difference in price would be between me buying it myself and Skip’s ordering it for me. They said it would be the same price because they didn’t mark up their parts. I found that mind blowing. Finally, from a female point of view, it is a very non-intimidating shop. All of the guys are very friendly and take the time to answer questions and explain what’s wrong and how they’ll fix it. I’ve never felt talked down to or brushed off there. And, that is a stark contrast from other shops I’ve been to. They have a customer for life.

Skip’s is by far the best auto repair shop in Frederick! I’ve used a few, most lacking in some way. Skip’s is honest, a trait long lost with mechanics/auto repair shops. Prices are reasonable and the back up what the fix. Definitely highly recommend Skip’s! They are super busy for a reason.

Not only did they fit me in last minute, Brian was very friendly and professional, explained everything to me that was actually wrong with my rear brakes (which was a rare issue) and didn’t make me feel stupid, as most mechanics would when dealing with a female. Was running late for a meeting and went to start my car on South street and reaized my battery was dead. Saw skips right across the street so I called and 30 seconds later (cant remember his name) came walking down the street to jump it . I have texted and emailed Skips about this issue. Almost right after I got my vehicle back and havent received any response back. I got my plugs replaced on my vehicle and the vehicle was loader and has a miss at times.. Its worse when its damp out..

They knew what I needed right away. They didnt have it in stock but by 8:00 a.m. the next morning I was getting my new battery.

They kept their word on the price, and treated me fairly. Not the quickest, but much more reasonably priced than any other shop I could find. Very friendly as well.

Considering all of the glowing compliments, I was shocked to find out for myself that Skips is, at the every least, inconsistent. They kept our car for over a month, and every time we checked in to see what was going on with the car, the answer was it should be ready shortly, or something along those lines. I do feel that they did a great job with the car, which is why I give them 2 stars, but the length of time for which they kept the car, and the empty promises as to how soon they would complete the work, were very frustrating since we had to keep renewing a car rental while our car was with skips.

Front office gets an A+ for communication and friendliness. Friendly, skilled staff fixed my vehicle quickly. I’m glad that I stumbled across this place. This will be my go-to shop moving forward.

The size of the shop is the only downside. They can get busy and have a hard time getting to cars quickly. I would not take my car anywhere else if I have a choice. They have done an excellent job on all of my cars and cars of friends that I have recommended to them. I have a friend who was quoted an outrageous price at another shop and told that they would need several repairs. They took they car to skips and were given a much better price and found out that half of the repairs they were told about were not necessary.

Every time I bring a vehicle to Skips I know I am getting a quick, affordable, and HONEST service. My family and I have been bringing vehicles to Skips for years for anything from oil changes, engine problems, transmission, and brakes (and probably more). Such an awesome group of guys there!

Took a 98 Ford Escort to be serviced with a multitude of problems off a friends recommendation. They were straight to the point with exactly what was needed, they were very honest in doing so, and have reasonable prices. Would highly recommend, and will definitely be back.

I cant understand the previous comment. My experience is completely different. My business is across the street and all of our employees use this outstanding service. What makes them great is that they are very honest about repairs. They work with you to keep costs down where possible and are quick to tell you what can or cant wait. Good reasonable prices and honesty, combined with very good work. Could not ask for better in a auto service provider!

I normally have a really good experience at Skips, however, this time hasnt been so pleasant. They have had our car for just over two weeks and every time we call to get an update we get told that Brian has been working on it and he will give us a call back...we have yet to get that call. We know when the car was brought in that they were a bit busy but to state that we will get a call back and never get one is a bit concerning. We are in the process of moving the car to another shop since we cant get an answer.

Went here on a recommendation from a friend. Absolutely fantastic! The guys are personable when I go. One comment here said they were rude but I dont see it! On the recommendation of a friend I went here after the wear indicator on my brakes got too disconcerting to ignore. Had them do a brake check and an oil change because it was due anyway.On the way out the door I mentioned off hand I wouldnt be able to pick the car up same day because I would be at my work(admittedly close by) until very late. Without hesitation and unprompted by me the gentleman behind the counter said they would bring it to me.I dropped the car off at 12 and, despite a full lot ahead of me when I had rolled up, they dropped it off to me at 430.They also didnt try to sell me on anything extra or unnecessary either. Just the oil change and my rear brakes and let me know the fronts were fine.Great service, great prices. I am a very satisfied customer and highly recommend them.

My 2009 Corolla started making a funny noise on my way from Georgia to New York and the folks at Skips were able to diagnose and repair my vehicle within an hour of popping in (alternator). They were very friendly, practical and professional and I would recommend them to anyone in need of vehicle repair and maintenance.

These guys are great. I call them the only honest mechanic in town. I know I can take my car there and have them take a look at it and not destroy me with unneeded repairs, and for the repairs that are needed, the prices are excellent. When I showed up for an inspection, someone in the front said to come back Monday. I showed up Monday and they said come back Friday. I asked if I should make an appointment and they said no as long as you leave your car behind. I showed up Friday and they said to show up Monday morning. I showed up 6/18 Monday morning and they said show up Thursday. When I showed up, the guy at the front said to Only talk to him but that was the first time I met him. I would not trust my car with them after this poor communication on their part. Maybe they are good but they seemed disorganized.
