Critter Cavalry is an amazing rescue organization with an admirable mission! We adopted Old Soul Browning (now Colby Jack) about a month ago from Critter Cavalry. Of course, I could write for days about how amazing Colby is, but I’m here for CC. Candace from CC was so responsive and helpful during the process. She took so much time to communicate with me individually; I was shocked when I heard the number of adoptions they facilitate every year, and I was still given Candace’s time to find the right match. She was on it all - thorough, helpful, responsive, upfront about Colby’s situation, and encouraging. You can tell her heart and soul is for the animals and that’s the best you could hope for when choosing an organization to adopt from. The transport process is straightforward and quick. The cost of adoption is very, very reasonable especially when you consider all the behind the scenes work that is done for the animals. I hope people understand the fast and urgent nature of the life-saving work CC facilitates. The woman who fostered Colby was also an angel, very responsive and helpful with our questions. Through and through, CC is a beyond solid rescue organization made up of hard working individuals who truly love animals. Thank you so much for everything. Colby is sound asleep next to me right now, and is the biggest blessing thanks to CC!
We adopted Hemingway (previously Fireman Dan) from Critter Cavalry early last week. He has been such a wonderful dog! All the information we got from the foster mom Lecia was super helpful, and she took the time to answer my questions about his interaction with other dogs to plan his introduction to our current dog. Response time was beyond fantastic - we got a call the day we turned our application in to discuss our questions, and all our references were called by the following day. We were expecting at least a week before we would hear back! Thank you for our wonderful new spotty friend!
I had almost given up hope after run around from 3 different rescues. 90 Minute zoom conferences.Delayed reference checks, and many more hoops to jump threw. On a positive note it pushed me to contact Critter Cavalry. I contacted with interest in young Pit mix Diamond Lucy.Following morning was directly called by Sandra who told me she was available. She then had Lucys foster mom Mary call me shortly after. She answered all my questions happily and continues to help me with Lucys needs and comfort choices. My application was quickly processed and references were both spoken to. This was all done in a streamlined 3 day process, My new dog will b arriving next weekend. The care and attention to my desire to adopt could not have been met with more attention than I received. To Candace,Carol,Sandra and Mary I will b forever grateful for you and all you do !
I adopted my Gracie Aug 29 2020 in the midst of the Covid pandemic. I had such a hard time finding any rescues that would reply to me in a timely manner - it really did start to take a toll on me because I wanted to adopt a new family member more than I can say. I saw Gracie on Pet-Finder and reached out to the rescue - within a day I heard back and got the background story of my little girl. I was able to speak with the foster mom, who was great, and gave a very accurate description of Gracies demeanor, and personality - FYI shes got SUCH a personality! Within two days I was approved, and Gracie was transported to us that same week! I recommend this rescue to everyone, Im so glad I stumbled upon them, they gave me my furr baby! She is oh so spoiled, and oh so loved. She loves snow, snuggling with her humans, going for walks in the woods, playing fetch, and of course giving everyone kisses!
I adopted the sweetest dog two weeks ago. She was exactly as described in her bio and pics. Candace as well as the foster mom kept in touch daily and gave me tips on how do help my new baby adjust to her home. I was certainly reluctant to adopt my first dog without ever having met, but the process could not have been easier and the pickup in NY went very smoothly. I will recommend adopting from here to my friends.
The price may seem steep at first. honestly, you not only help contribute to a non profit, but the money you spend keeps pricing low for other things such as microchipping, vet bills to ensure a healthy baby before your adoption, travel (the drivers time, gas, tolls, etc. ), food while the babys are awaiting adoption, adoption advertisements, and more. so kind and helpful. theyre so kind with communication. very knowledgeable. i absolutely love my kitten that I got from them. i was able to meet other pet lovers up here in the New England area. see everyone meet their new furbaby loved ones. it was truly an experience. i got so lucky with my kitten as he is an absolute angel and i would do anything to ensure a loving life for him. i am so glad that Critter Cavalry exists and hope others consider adopting from them or even donating so these babies find their furever home. Papacito (formerly Freeway) was one of Vs rescues and I thank her for everything in helping me get all his records, microchip, etc. thank you so much!
Critter Cavalry Rescue was perfect for me. The adoption process was very detailed (I respect that!), went smoothly, and was very prompt. My references were contacted right away. I interacted with many of the rescues heroes. The Pay Pal payment option is very efficient. During transport, Tim kept me informed by text message of the transports progress. My precious Kira arrived on Sunday, March 7, 2021, right on time! The transport was clean and well-organized. All the pets were clean and well groomed, and none appeared stressed. My precious Kira brought tears of joy to my eyes! This was my first time receiving a rescue pet from a transport. It was perfect. All the Best to Critter Cavalry Rescue.
We have had the best experience with Critter Cavalry! We adopted our handsome boy, Brady, formally known as Snickers! He’s the sweetest boy and was very socialized in his foster so that made the transition so much better! His foster mom, Kim, was amazing!! When I first reached out, she called me right away and told me all about our sweet boy! She sent us pictures that she had of him, when they first got him, as well as updated pictures as we moved through our adoption process! She really cared about him and we could really tell he came from a loving foster! We brought him to our vet for a puppy check up, and she said everything was perfect! We couldn’t be happier with this rescue and process! We highly recommended adopting from them!!
We recently adopted a Blue Heeler from Critter Calvery. I could not express enough how amazing they are. They were very thorough when screening our application to make sure he would be the perfect fit in our family. They answered all my questions and were 100% dedicated to make sure we had an understanding of the breed and his needs along with the needs of the family. They ensured that Blue and our family were going to be a success story. I cant thank them enough for the wonderful addition to our family! If you are wanting to adopt this is the place to go!
We had such a great experience adopting our dog from Critter Cavalry. We had applied to so many different shelters/rescues and were getting nowhere (if you are applying for a dog right now during Covid, you know how hard it is!). The dog I applied for was adopted but Candace answered my call and told me she had a similar dog for me. From there, the process was so smooth and quick. The foster mom called me and told me all about him, and Candace answered all my emails and questions quickly. We got our dog on Friday and since then, his foster mom has been available to answer all my questions as well. He is the sweetest, best little boy and we can tell he was so well taken care of before coming to us! Highly recommend Critter Cavalry if you are looking to adopt!
Great experience adopting with CCR of Nashville/Franklin. The response to the adoption request was immediate and the communication from the foster family was informative, helpful, and timely, before and after the adoption. Candace & Sandra were great to work with in adding another member to our family.
We adopted Peanut (now Chaplin) two weeks ago. We were given plenty of information on him even before we met him virtually. We were able to ask a lot of questions about him during our visit and for followup. Any time we had questions, Carol, Candace, or Vivienne were responsive, patient, and kind. The foster mom Glenda was amazing. She spent a lot of time with us and responded quickly to our questions. The transport team kept us up to date as to their arrival time. They too were kind and efficient. One of the main things that impressed us greatly about Critter Cavalry was how selective they were in approving our adoption inquiry. We submitted pre-approved adoption inquiries for at least 6 other dogs and were rejected each time. The organization wants whats best for their critters and want to make sure the match is a good one on both sides. They matched us with an amazing pup. Hes exactly the right fit for us and its all due to the Critter Cavalry team. HIGHLY recommend!
We adopted our little Benji 2 weeks ago from critter cavalry rescue and they were a delight from the start! We applied for another dog but someone else got him before us. Instead of critter cavalry rescue ending our conversation there, they emailed me back other dogs that were hypoallergenic that we could adopt within a few weeks. That is how we ended up finding our Benjamin and we are so in love with him! He fits perfectly into our life and we are so glad we ended up finding this agency. Thank you for your hard work and effort in all the emails you send us back at late hours to ensure we could get him in a timely manner. We are so grateful for this agency!
I really hate posting negative comments about companies. Wednesday April 14 my wife called me very upset because she had just gotten off the phone with someone from Critter Calvary and I’m very unhappy about it. My wife is helping a family member of mine try to foster two dogs. He can’t take them with him in the move but because of his situation he has to leave the state in a couple of days. We understand that it usually takes time to foster animals but we’re not in control of the situation and we’re trying to help someone out. When the Critter Calvary representative called, my wife was excited to receive the call hoping for some help. But instead, the representative spoke in a very condescending tone and berated my wife about not doing enough herself. She rudely insisted my wife neeeded to call sooner andi they needed more time to find a home. Then she told my wife we should take the dogs. My wife is allergic to dogs and so we can’t keep the dogs. They ended the call by saying they can’t help.I tried calling to speak with someone personally but the critter Calvary mailbox is full and not accepting messages.I strongly support the responsible and compassionate handling of pets and I appreciate the work of any organization that helps take care of animals. But I am INCREDIBLY disappointed that someone would speak In such a condescending manner to basically offer no help. I hope your staff treats animals with more respect than they treat humans.EDIT: thanks to whoever responded to my review. I do appreciate you taking the time to read and comment. It was a well thought out and written reply. I take my hat off to the hard work and efforts it sounds like you are putting forth. I do admit to not researching the company. I hope whoever reads my review understands I am not criticizing the company on its efforts or quality. Only sharing that my family had a bad experience with the communication of one volunteer. Thanks for replying.
A couple months ago I found two dogs that were dumped on the side of the road, in terrible condition. Unfortunately we were unable to keep them both, so I reached out to multiple shelters in the area. Critter Calvary was one of the only ones who responded to me, and offered to help! They provided medical care and marketing for their adoption. I am happy to say that we found a WONDERFUL home through their services for one of the pups. I highly recommend them for fostering, adoption or volunteering. Thank you Critter Calvary for caring about these dogs, and making sure you put them first!
Its been two weeks since we rescued Pete (formerly Roscoe) from Critter Cavalry. Our first dog was from a shelter and when we knew she was ready for a friend and we were ready for a second, I looked for months for the right dog. This meant dozens of applications were sent out, lots of emails were exchanged and home visits were even scheduled with multiple rescues. When I saw Pete listed with Critter Cavalry, I just knew he was my dog. I reached out and within hours had a response from Vivienne. I completed an application and with 24 hours was approved - they called references and my vet at lightning speed! Their service and communication was unmatched compared to other rescues I had interacted with.Pete was transported from Tennessee to NJ and I was expecting him to be exhausted and stinky from the long journey but it was the total opposite. He was clearly well cared for the entire route and hopped off the truck like he was home. This rescue is TRULY incredible (Ive worked with many). Pete was in an amazing foster home where he was loved and socialized. I still stay in touch with his foster mom! He came healthy and up to date on shots and vaccines. Everyone he meets comments on how wonderful (and cute) he is. We are so glad to have found Pete and cant wait to see how he continues to settle in.Thank you to all at Critter Cavalry who work tirelessly to help animals in need. They are the best!
We adopted sweet Katie from them. She is literally the best! We are so happy. Everyone was wonderful to work with and answer questions and help us find the perfect new family member. We could not be any happier
We were in search of another Coonhound and we found our Perfect Match (for us AND her) from Critter Cavalry! Poor thing was abandoned in the woods and she was emaciated. She is gaining weight and is a very smart dog (as Coonhounds Are!). We ALL couldnt be happier, including our other 3 dogs. Bobbie Sue (formally Rosey) loves running & playing in our 1/2 acre privacy fenced backyard - perfect home for her - very happy they also called our references, they know what they are doing at Critter Cavalry!!! God Bless Them - they work Very Hard dealing with an enormous amount of animals and their adoptions...
We found the perfect pooch from Critter Cavalry! Carol was very prompt in reaching out with a dog that was a good fit for our family and answered all questions. Her description of Sheena (our sweet dog) was exactly how she is in our home. Carol text pictures and videos of her and how she interacted with other dogs. We fell in love and are so happy we adopted her! The process was seamless--although picking up your new dog from a van sounds a little shady lol, we were so happy when they handed Sheena to us to be part of our family. Thank you Critter Cavalry!
I adopted a cat from here March 2020. I thought the rescue was in NH as have other adopters. They do NOT transport to NH. I had to drive to CT to pick her up. I was never told to bring a crate, thank goodness I did. She was in a van with about 15 other animals and we were apparently the last stop. Unbelievable...I was told by Vivienne the cat HAD to be an indoors cat and I agreed. Once I got home, I looked in her bag of paperwork and there was an envelope from the former foster family... My cat was feral and was dropped off at their 3 acre farm with her brother and given to the rescue as they couldnt add more to their family. So now, I have adopted ($200 with shipping) a feral cat who doesnt want to be inside... really???? She finally bolted out after 2 weeks of trying to keep her in.. she has torn up the bottom of two of my doors trying to get out...I emailed Vivienne and told her how upset I was, with NO response... not even an, OMG, I had no idea.... how about giving me my money back? In my eyes this was a bait and switch..Well, 4 days ago was the last time we have seen Karlie (formerly Marlie) and I am crushed and heartbroken and I feel like I was ripped off by this rescue as they MUST have know the story of her being feral.I AM DISAPPOINTED TO SAY THE LEAST..... STAY AWAY!!!
We adopted our dog Jeb (Previously Zeke) from Critter Cavalry! It does take a little bit to get a response from them but they are volunteer run so it was not a big deal. After we got into contact with someone she explained the process and fees. We had our dog transported from Tennessee to Virginia. We met them in a town about an hour away. They were dropping off a few pets and it was wonderful to see all the dogs meet their new families! Jeb has been an amazing dog and his brother Ace is happy for a new friend.
I recently adopted my first puppy from Critter Cavalry Rescue - a four months old hound mix Otto (formerly known as Klifford). I was very much impressed with the way Critter Cavalry Rescue handled the process: from a thorough interview, to reference check, to prompt transport. I have been working with Carol Stewart, a volunteer, who has been very helpful and responsive. Thank you, Critter Cavalry Rescue, for everything! Otto is very happy in his new forever home :).
Great helping you find a dog that you are looking for.
I have been fostering for this organization for a few months and it has been the best experience. The people that help within the rescue have been amazing.
We have adopted 2 dogs now from Critter Calvary Rescue. We got our Dakota, an older Lab and Canaan mix, 4 years ago. He had a rough go of it before we got him, being bounced from his owners, to neighbors, to getting fostered in 2 different places before we took him in. He was obviously neglected in the past but well taken care of once CCR took over. It took a bit for him to get settled in but he learned how to fit in and we learned his personality and how to make sure he felt loved. Now hes a happy part of our family, and brings us lots of joy.We had such great luck with Dakota we decided to adopt another CCR pup. We added Stella who was just a puppy, in November of last year. Stella is a bundle of energy. Part Lab, mixed with some other breeds..Dane maybe, and quite possibly piranha (shes all teeth sometimes) .We couldnt be happier with both our dogs and are absolutely thrilled with Critter Calvary Rescue fir bringing them into our lives.
Recently adopted a pup from Critter Cavalry and had a great experience! They were very helpful and responsive to my questions and emails. You can tell that they really love what they do. I would highly recommend!
We just wanted to say thanks again for the wonderful experience of adopting Winnie ( now Cleopatra/Cleo for short). A great group of ladies made this all very enjoyable especially Tabitha. We are all blessed with the great work you are doing. Many families now have their forever fur baby and the animals are blessed as well to now have their forever families and homes 🐶❤️
We adopted a puppy and couldn’t be happier. I was hesitant at first and was worried about being scammed. But they had open and very good communication, we was able to face time daily with foster family and see our puppy. We were informed of any changes. The foster family was great and potty trained prior to pick up. I would highly recommended critter cavalry to adopt.
I adopted my dog (Laika) from Critter Cavalry way back in April 2013, and I was so happy with the experience and the group that I decided to foster for them. Laika is such an amazing part of my life, and in order to have found her way to me, someone needed to foster her, so I just wanted to give back and put that same energy back into the world. Ive fostered well over 100 dogs in the past 8 years, and its been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.Sometimes fostering is stressful. I think Candace and our other volunteers do a great job of matching up compatible dog personalities to personal lifestyle. For example, I dont have a fenced in yard, so we know that high energy dogs will not be happy here. The thing that sets CCR apart is that I never feel pressured to continue fostering a dog that is not working. We have a wonderful network of local volunteers and we can almost always swap foster dogs, or step in and help eachother out somehow. Its really great to have that support system.Ive never had any experiences with the group that has led me to ever question their dedication to the health or care for a dog. The dogs have a long ride and when they come up on transport, their have clean crates, the dogs arent stinky, and its obvious that Tim and his co-driver take excellent care of them on the way up and make sure that theyre not sitting in filth. Every dog that comes up has a clean bill of health before they get on transport. Emergencies can happen and the dogs health always comes first. I have an open dialog with Candace if I suspect anything is unanticipated is wrong, and well work together to either get a vet consult or in rare cases, a visit to the ER.One complaint that I see most often is about phone calls. Ill be completely honest... Im a millenial and Im terrified of the phone. I also have a full time job and a life, and every few months, Candace has to kick me in the pants and remind me that I really should call people back quicker. We really do try to respond to emails quickly, but were all just human, were all volunteers. We dont have a customer service center. Be nice, send a follow up email and ask for an update. If you act like a jerk, theres a good chance we wont respond at all. Dont be a jerk. Were saving dogs here, relax.Rescuing dogs can be a thankless job, and my heart has been broken over and over by how terribly people can treat mans best friend. Sometimes Ill get a dog that has absolutely no reason to ever trust people again, but yet they do. Dogs have this amazing ability to live in the moment and not hold a grudge. I am constantly humbled by their willingness to let go of their distrust in exchange for a cozy lap. I am humbled by the pure joy in their hearts when I come in the door. Its a constant reminder to myself that I also possess the ability to be that joyful if I could let go of past grievances. I struggle with social anxiety, but when I see a dog who has every reason to be afraid of humans absolutely melt into butt wiggles and a wagging tail when they meet their new family, its a reminder that I cant control other people, but I can control how *I* interact with the world.
We adopted our newest family member, Talina, this past weekend. What a wonderful experience!! She is 3 years old and had led a difficult life until surrendered to Critter Cavalry about a month ago. Having been kept outdoors on a tether for the past 3 years, her foster mom provided her with the love and caring she had been deprived of all her life. Talina is a gentle giant who has no concept of her size but is a love bug through and through. She has adapted beautifully to her new home, as well as her other 2 fur baby rescues. It’s so heartwarming to watch her prance in the yard, curl up on her dog bed, play with her basket full of toys, and she even went on her first walk this weekend. We will be forever grateful to Critter Cavalry for all their hard work, love and dedication, and we are so happy that they have entrusted us with our beautiful new baby!! 🐶❤️🐶
Kathy and candice are most loving animal people I have ever met. They rescue and place over 900 dogs a year and they are a nonprofit organization. Tim the transportation department travels 10000 miles a month to make sure that these dogs are taken to caring loving forever homes. God bless these guys.
Been fostering for about a year now and love how concerned they are for the well-being of the animal. They take their time to find the right match - not just what the person thinks they want but what will work best for the people and animals. They have a true passion for helping animals and fostering lifetime bonds and also have the experience and know how of doing so! As I was told by them just yesterday... the excuses (of how the dog got here) dont matter, the only thing that matters is dogs get a second chance. Love that!!!
We had a wonderful experience with Critter Cavalry. Candace spent a lot of time with me on the phone and via email. We adopted a 1-2 year old Husky that was rescued from a bad home in Tn. She is doing so well and so happy to have a loving home. Candace took care of everything, including meds for treating her heartworm. She is doing fantastic. We so grateful for this wonderful rescue that is helping many dogs in a state where they do not have strict enough animal abuse laws and hi kill shelters.
This will be a long one...bare with me!After searching and searching for months I applied for what was listed as a “7 y/o Shih Tzu.” They claimed she was house trained and was an elderly owner surrender from a high kill shelter. I applied, within days my references were called. Both of my references reported only being asked if they thought I was a responsible pet owner and how long the dog would be alone a day, both calls less than 60 seconds. My vet references were never checked and almost immediately I was called and hustled into a next day transport. I was connected with the foster mom who they had claimed had her for a month, she reported the same...”sweet girl, house broken, and 7 y/o who had been vetted and was up to date on shots.” Fast forward to the cost...I get an invoice for $1100!!! I could not believe that price for a dog of that age but at that point we were already in love so I agree. I am then told they only accept PayPal friends and family...anyone who shops online knows this is a HUGE red flag. I let them know I would not pay unless it was protected through goods and services particularly that sum of money and I would not be adopting. They finally agree. We get there to get her...immediately notice she is definitely a mutt of some sort with extremely bowed front legs (poor girl), appears younger than 7 and is infested with fleas. Within 2 days of having her home she has 2 seizures. Off to an emergency vet we go. Testing and scans deduced that she had a seizure disorder and low and behold was only 4 years old. In reviewing her records that came with her with the vet she had not had any shots or anything until the day I committed to adopting her despite having been fostered for a month. We’ve had her now for 3 months and she is impossible to house train (just another lie) and this past weekend had to take her to Cornell ER for what we now know is a bladder tumor. I am now $3k deep in a dog that is truly the sweetest thing but not at all what was portrayed. I thank God every day she got lucky enough to be with folks who are willing to make this commitment both financially and in caring for her. This has been a very hard lesson and I really should have trusted my gut! Even if they didn’t know any of her health concerns I would still be concerned with the amount of money charged and the little checking they did on my application. DO NOT adopt from this “rescue!” I do not believe for a minute they are a true non-profit.
Out of state adopters dont be scammed by Critter Cavalry! They take advantage of your emotions and the fact that income levels tend to be higher in the northeast, and tell you it is $750 to $1000 to adopt from them....thats nearing puppy prices for an adult dog! Other awesome rescues in the south and Tennessee charge reasonably around $500 or $600 total to adopt including transport to northeast. Its amazingly sad how they treat people who took time to fill out an application and submit personal ID information with it to adopt a pet! They are experts in ignoring your questions too and it says a lot of bad things about this org. Only serious adopters ask smart questions in advance of committing to a lifetime of a pet. Be a smart adopter, ask lots of questions, do thorough research and stay away from Critter Cavalry.
I was so lucky to find Critter Cavalry Rescue when we were looking to adopt a dog. Candace immediately responded when I reached out to inquire about one of the dogs she had available for adoption. The adoption process went extremely well. Paying the adoption fee and transport fee was safe and easy. Candace told me all about Hunter and gave me the fosters’ number so I could speak with her about him as well. They really care about all of their rescues and who they adopt them to. They were very kind throughout the entire process and provided as much information about Hunter as they could. As I am sure most know, information about what a pet went through or what happened to them prior to being rescued is not always available. Their foster parents take them into their homes and learn as much as they can about them by caring for and loving them, interacting with them and helping them realize they are safe now. They provided me all veterinary records they had on him that they had done since they rescued him, obviously there was no way to get any, if any even existed before they rescued him. They had all of his vaccinations done, had him neutered and even had him microchipped before I adopted him. Going to meet the transport to get him was so exciting. I couldn’t wait till they got there!! They have a van full of pets and are so well organized with issuing each adopter their paperwork and their new family member. They were so kind to the adopters as well as all of the animals. Very good hearted people at CCR. My experience was so wonderful that I have since gone back to CCR two more times and adopted two more pups and trust me......the next two adoptions went as amazingly well as the first. I highly recommend CCR if you are looking to adopt a rescue pet!!
I responded to a post on petfinder for a dog that I wanted to see in person. I am a homeowner with a fenced in yard, no other pets, work from home and previous dog owner. Even though I met all the qualifications the posting said I was denied and instead of suggesting another dog in their rescue that would be a good fit I just simply got brushed off. Don’t waste your time on this rescue organization!!!!
Very respectful people
We have fostered several dogs through Critter Cavalry, and we also adopted our dog William from them last year! The ladies who run this organization care deeply about animal welfare and saving as many pups as possible. Critter Cavalry is amazing to work with as both a foster dog parent and an adopting dog parent and we cannot recommend them highly enough. 💚
We adopted a puppy and had a great experience. I had been looking at an adult dog and by the time I decided to fill out the application he had the promise of a home. Candace sent me a picture of some puppies and put me in touch with the foster mom. We picked the puppy we thought would be a good fit for our family and he is. It was a great experience, from filling out the application, communicating with Candace and the Foster mom and picking up our new puppy from transport. This is a labor of love driving from TN-New England most every weekend to transport dogs (and cats) to their new homes. I would recommend and would adopt from Citter Cavalry again!
I cannot say enough about how positive the experience was in working with Critter Cavalry Rescue. Candace and her husband, Tim, have such big hearts and put so much work into getting these animals adopted into good homes. My fiance and I were having a really tough time getting in touch with the right people at other rescues, and had our hearts broken on a few near falls that we thought were going to work out prior to connecting with CCR. Candace set us up with a great foster mom, Kim, and I could tell immediately that we had come to the right place. Kim kept us updated with pictures and videos as our puppy grew up prior to adoption. They took care of vaccines and neutering, and we even lucked out with a local trainer volunteering to put our puppy through a 2-week training course prior to us adopting. Weve now had our new pup for a little over a month, and I couldnt imagine one that would be a better fit for our family. I am so thankful I met Candace and Kim, and truly enjoyed getting to know both of them throughout the process. I tell all of our friends about how impressive the operation is at CCR, and will definitely be holding onto their information for the future. We may adopt a new sibling for our little guy in about a year or so, and this is the only rescue I would work with to make that happen.
The entire process from beginning to the end was amazing. They truly care about their pets and he was well taken care of until he made it home. We absolutely love him. Thank you for making our family complete!!!!
I have adopted three pups from Critter Cavalry. I can honestly say that Candace and Tim and the fosters I have worked with have been absolutely amazing! Each experience Candace treated me like family, like we lived next door to each other and patiently answered my millions of questions! Lol. This organization truly cares for and loves each of their for babies. They try to make sure they get you the perfect match for your lifestyle and what you are looking for. I would highly recommend them to absolutely anyone I know that is looking to adopt.
To expensive for a pet rescue. They are more lioking for people to just foster.
I adopted a Lynx Point Siamese from this organization in January 2019, and cannot say enough nice things about the ease with which I got him, the care and socialization he got as a kitten, his vet care, his outgoing personality, the transport team. I put in my application for him, had an immediate call back from his foster parent, and was able to get him in a week. He took to my large house, a big dog, and freezing cold weather without blinking and has been a great addition. All this is because CCR does such a great job. As a previous volunteer in rescue organizations, I can tell you they do a fine job.
I adopted a dog from this rescue, all the way from Montreal Canada!!! I specified that I was looking for an active fun and friendly dog and they found the perfect dog for me and met me in Maine!! Nova is an amazing dog and I am so grateful for this rescue and all the amazing work they do! I only wished I lived closer to be able to help foster for them! What amazing volunteers!
This group does a amazing job. A absolute smooth professional process. If you are looking for a pet do not hesitate to give a call. And I couldnt have found a better dog anywhere.
We have adopted two wonderful dogs from Critter Cavalry Animal Rescue and love them. They were a perfect fit. What is nice is that they are fostered in a home so they are being taught good habits even before you get them. Highly Recommended.
The only rescue agency I will deal with. Candace and the fosters truly love and care about these animals and want the best for them. I would be happy to adopt another dog from them.
I dont appreciate being called 9pm and be yelled at for emailing asking about a dogs health. All information should be disclosed. Very unprofessional.
Dont know havent been there
Truly disappointed. They are an animal rescue agency. I contacted them twice within a weeks time to ask about adopting one of the animals they had posted on an online board they work with. Sent emails to the address on the board and to the person specified on the website and never got the courtesy of a response. Now the animal is no longer posted and I hope they were successfully rehomed. I certainly understand the animal may not have been available or was in process when I wrote but a simple status pending email would seem appropriate.
So happy to have adopted from Critter Cavalry. They are extremely organized and keep in contact with you long after the adoption has occurred. They truly care about each animal they rescue.
They were so supportive, called me and explained the process. They were diligent in checking my references and ensured their pup was coming to a good home. They advise me on what primary items to get, how to transition puppy and followed up with me before during and after getting my pup.
Amazing loving people that go above and beyond.. love these foljd
My boyfriend and I did a long distance adoption with our kitten Arthur just shy of a year ago. Hes a little orange tabby and he must have been smothered with love here because he is the sweetest happiest kitten Ive ever met. He is my absolute best friend and we love him so much! They made the whole adoption process so easy and informative and even reached out again once we had him to see how he was doing. Arthur even almost went to another family and we began searching for other kittens.. then he became available and they reached out right away, it was so thoughtful! They knew how much I fell in love with him and Im thankful they saw me as a good fit to reach back out. I couldnt picture my life without my sweet boy!
Critter Cavalry goes out of their way to make sure the right dog is matched with the right family. They make a concentrated effort to get to know the dogs and adopter so that the adoption is successful! Hard working group of volunteers!
💘
I adopted my little love Winston 2/25/17. Vivienne is the absolute best. They are very caring, calling to check on us after adoption (his foster mom called too!) I have been blessed beyond words to get Winston in my life! When I add to the family, I will come back to CC! Thanks again!
I love this rescue. Candace Giles always goes above and beyond when she takes in a companion pet. I always think how fortunate the homeless pet is who finds themselves under her wings. They will land in a home that is stellar, no matter how long it takes. She allows nothing less. The animals are thoroughly vetted, checked out and taken excellent care of.She is cream of the crop, when it comes to rescues!Thank you for all you do. :)
Very dedicated
Critter Cavalry is a fantastic rescue! Candace goes above and beyond to help people surrendering or adopting. I highly recommend CC and will use them again in the future when adopting!
I personally dealt with Patti and she is just simply amazing. I adopted Lucy Loo and everything that she said about her personality was spot on. My family and I are simply enamored with Lucy and couldnt have thought of a better dog to have in our lives. They take excellent care of these pups and really make sure they go to the right people. This organization does so much for these precious dogs. I cant thank them and Patti enough :).
Fostering is a great way to help an animal reach its forever home. Thats the goal of critter Calvary for all animals to find their forever home.
Worst experience dealing with them. Got approved for a dog then was told a day before he was adopted after I was told he was for me cause first come first serve this happened 3 times with two other labs! Dont ever go here there all about there money and dont care at all about the customer... I wouldnt be surprised if they lie about the dog siblings either by reading other reviews! Stay away candace shes a horrible person and a liar. Go else where
Love Critter Cavalry. They seem to genuinely care about fitting their dogs into the right homes. When we got our dog, they were honest about the girl we were getting and followed up to make sure she was fitting into our family. I felt prepared and supported through the whole process.
Rescuing from Critter Cavarly was amazing! Everything was so easy and the responsiveness of everyone was incredible. They answered every call and text. We adopted our pup in September and the transport process to PA was easier than expected. We are sooo thankful for Critter Cavarly!!! Thank you for the love you brought into our lives.
Great people doing great work. If youre looking for a pet, please consider them.
We adopted our sweet Corgidor, Ginny from CCR eleven years ago. Candace was wonderful, caring and so thorough! CCR had rescued Ginny from a high kill shelter, and thanks to their tireless work, she has brought our family so much joy!
We adopted our little pal from Critter Cavalry about two months ago now, and he has been everything we could have wanted and more. Candace happened to be the foster mother of our Cathoula/Aussie mix named Starbuck at the time and she went above and beyond to make sure that he was going to the right place. She helped us leading up to our adoption date by sending pictures and videos while also telling us about his personality and temperament. Starbuck (now named Frankie) is everything we could have asked for, and we are so glad Critter Cavalry made that possible for us .
We are very grateful for our rescue dog from CC. They are bold and generous. She would have been euthanized except for their attention to some of Tennessee’s High kill county shelters. Thank you Critter Calvary!
We had been searching for a pup to suit our needs for quite some time. We needed a pup that was good with cats, kids, inside and outside, wouldnt dig under the fence, and wouldnt open gates. Candace worked with us until we found the right fit. After a couple hours, he fit right in with everyone. Its almost as if he never lived anywhere else. Candace took her time and researched all of their pups to find the right fit for us. The pups foster Momma texted me photos every step of the way. He came with all of his shots, paperwork, micro-chipped, and the rest of his medicine supply. They couldve kept the meds for another pup, but they didnt. I would highly recommend CCR if youre interested in working with compassionate people who understand the importance of pup personalities. Our family gives CCR 5 stars and two huge thumbs up!
The woman who answer the phone is extremely short with you and terribly rude. I called in to ask about a kitten and was given the run around and told she was still available. My friend called back later when we didnt get an application back and they told her that the kitten had been adopted 4 MONTHS AGO. How do you expect to find homes for animals when you talk to potential adopters like theyre stupid right out the gate? I will never do business with Critter Cavalry. I suggest you dont either.
My experience was great! found a pup I liked, was called that same day. Called my references next day. Took care of everything and I just met my baby Kona yesterday and I am so in love. Only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was that I called with questions and they didnt call back and that I was never informed I was accepted to adopt Kona until i asked why she was off the website. They were great. Maybe just busy.
Critter Cavalry is an amazing organization! We couldnt be happier with our dog Libby we got thru them or the interaction we had with them. They obviously care about animals as can easily be seen with all they do.
I have adopted two dogs from critter Calvary and could not be more pleased with the organization and the two family members we gained from critter Calvary
Critter Cavalry came into our lives when we needed them the most. After loosing my beloved N.O.A.A. a Siberian Husky of 16yrs. Last year. Candace made it possible for us to find our way once again by giving us the chance to adopt Bojangles. He filled our hearts and home with so much love and tons of fun. Although Bojangles was a senior boy I knew exactly what I can potentially be getting into with some of the issues medically.A few months ago my boy was diagnosed with lung disease. He was put on a number of medicines to help him get through his disease. Unfortunately the disease progressed, eventually my boy passed away peacefully in his sleep by my side. My whole point to this is, please dont hesitate to ever adopt a senior dog. I have no regrets whatsoever, because Bojangles knew how much he was loved and passed knowing that. It was a very rewarding experience knowing I did everything in my power to make him feel secure and loved.Thank you Candace, Anita and all of your staff for bringing Bojangles into our home.Anyone looking to adopt, please look at CCRs website. These folks truly are the heroes for these abandoned animals. I know CCR will go out of their way to find your perfect doggie.
They do amazing work. There needs to be more rescues like this
We adopted our dog in February 2019. She was listed as a great dane/whippet mix. We did the embark DNA test, shes half dane/half pitbull. Not a big deal, but were a military family and didnt necessarily want a pitbull due to issues with renting in the future. One of the things we didnt love about Critter Cavalry was our dog was listed in the Portland, ME area. When we realized she was located in TN we were told they drop off near us- after we were committed we fount out the pick up location was a 3 hour drive away one way.The biggest issue was we received paperwork provided by the rescue our pup was fixed. A month after we got her she went into heat.Another thing Id like to mention is when we spoke with the foster mom the adoption fee was 300 dollars. When we got on the phone with Vivienne it went to 600. It seems Vivienne finds home for these animals and charges her fee.We love our dog and wouldnt trade her for anything at this point. We just felt this rescue didnt really do their due diligence and even though its a non-profit, it is a business.Edit to add:The owner commented below. She called my husband to offer to spay our dog w/ the caveat they use their people who may not be in our area. We have a vet we trust/our dog does well with- bringing our pup to whoever is cheapest and traveling where Vivienne wants us to isnt something we found palatable. Humble opinion, she should have offered to pick up the vet bill (visit to have her looked at to see if she was in heat and the procedure). As for the DNA test, its accurate. Shes a 50/50 split on the test- she was bred to be a Great Dane Bull. If you google photos of these dogs, this is our pup. Do I think the rescue knew she was half pitbull? No idea, but they are in the business of marketing animals.Vivienne tries to make it sound like we had an issue paying 600 dollars. The issue is services rendered for the cost. Our dog was said to be spayed and was not. We were told they would send the dog to our area. This meant a 3 hour drive to pick her up and a 3 hour drive home.Just because theyre a non-profit, doesnt mean they arent turning profits. Its a poorly run rescue.
I have adopted 3 dogs from CCR. All 3 are well trained and all experiences were exceptional. I highly recommend.
We adopted our Dorothy it was a great experience .
I adopted through Critter Calvary, and they were awesome! My dog and I are a match made in heaven!
Funny how PetSmart and other adoption websites state this rescue is in New Hampshire, but when you email them, its in Tennessee.
Beautiful dogs
There is no where on this website that tells you how much it costs to adopt a dog or cat. Or even how to do it.
What is the price range for a puppy??
These people are so rude. I was just asking questions and they wouldnt even answer me. Find another place to get your puppy services. I do not reccomend.
Rude idiots.
I have been on the search for a dog for me and my family and I found Critter Cavalry. I found one puppy that I fell in love with and wanted to see if I could adopt her. I was emailing someone for a few days and sent in my application. I then came and read some reviews and like a normal person would I read the bad reviews and also read the good reviews but some of the bad reviews made me nervous as this is going to be a dog I spend money on and going to be in my home forever. I emailed Critter Cavalry telling them that I had concerns about the reviews they were receiving and that I just wanted to learn more about the process and the dog I was going to be receiving. I got sent an awful email when I just wanted more information on their organization and the dog I was receiving. I have never heard from them again and it makes breaks my heart because I was really looking forward to meeting this puppy.EDIT: I was close to adopting this puppy. I had concerns and I asked them and I got sent an email that was very unprofessional. I then responded to that and then never got responded to again. Before this instance they would respond to me within minutes but once I asked a few simple questions I got cut off and the adoption was off. So the comment below stated that I was not being responded to or that I have to stand out for the dog is incorrect. They were eager AND ready for me to get this puppy but once I ask a few innocent questions I was cut off.
