Sub-par at best. I’ve never left a nail shop with so many cuts, scabs & nicks on my feet legs & nails… ever! The carelessness is beyond belief. Careless with the drill, don’t listen, constant repetition of my requests and the quality of the nail work is trash. The audacity to price these services along with the market! My nail tech smelled like straight alcohol. Just all around horrible. I’ve given this shop so many times for sake of not wanting to be nitpicky, and I’m so sick of bouncing from shop to shop in Lake County 🤦🏽‍♀️I’ve been proven yet again to spend money elsewhere.I’ve definitely learned my lesson 😔

Unfortunately I got my nails done here during the pandemic, I should have known better because they were the only ones open, I had tried them prior to this experience and they were bad smh soon as I left I notice the discoloring, I went right back and the lady painted right over them . I left again and had to come right back they blamed it on the sun lol no it was the poor work they did. I do not recommend this place and I wish there was a no star button I could of used instead of one star

Under new ownership .Had new set of pink & white nails replaced & no chip pedicure . Got fungal infection under one finger nail . All nails uneven, stubby, misshapen. Then to booth the gentleman complaining about the amt of time & labor intensive the pink & white nails are ...yes that is why you pay more & it is an art . Nails full replaced elsewhere within 2 weeks . Never again

Having a clean nail salon is right up there with being actually good at doing nails. I am super picky about my nails and I dislike when there chaso and salons tell you 5 minutes and its like 3 hours. This place is so clean, calm, and relaxing AND they do an AMAZING job on my nails. Gina does my hands but everyone else has dne my pedicures. So great and the massage is longer than most places.

Ive been going to this salon for over 6 years and have not had one bad experience. The quality and service is always consistent and the staff is very friendly. They do their best to accommodate everyone, even when busy. My no-clip manicures last longer than any other salon Ive been to and they have reasonable prices. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone in the area.

Im done with this place I was just there a week ago had a mani pedi, they the lady that serviced me was rude, the polish is cheap! chipped right when I left, now the polish on my toes is peeling barely a week, and the pedicure is not that great now I have to go somewhere else and have my pedicure redone. They started out decent when they first opened now service is going down hill

I have only been treated with kindness and respect at this salon. All nail salons that I know of take walk-ins so I expect to wait even if I make an appointment, its just the way it is. There is the option of calling before you go to see if the wait will be to long for you. My experience at this salon has been nothing but excellent. The negative reviews have me puzzled. There is such a wide margin of 5 stars and 1 star reviews it kinda of makes me think that maybe their competitors have put these people up to the 1 star reviews. I have been to many salons in the area and this is by far the best one I have been to. James, Mimi and Helen are all excellent at what they do. I have never felt so strongly about any review that I have submitted before. These are good and decent people and I certainly hope that you would give this salon a try.

I absolutely love going to this nail salon. They are close to home so that is an added perk. Very reasonable priced and my no chip manicures last about four weeks instead of two like everywhere else. James is very friendly and has always been polite to anyone I have ever seen him encounter. I have been there a few times when extremely rude people come in and he handles them very professionally. He is very soft spoken and hard to hear but never rude or ignores people as previous posts state. Mimi is the lady who gives pedicures and she is amazing! She always goes above and beyond and I leave there satisfied every time!! There are only two workers here that I have seen so sometimes it is hard to get in but they are worth the wait!

To all my ladies who get there nails done.. NEVER and I mean NEVER go get them done at Pretty Nails in Fox Lake. In all my years of getting my nails done Ive Never and I mean NEVER dealt with such rude service and I also think they were kind of racist as well. I called before hand and they seemed very nice but when I got in the door it was anything but a friendly environment. When I walked into the door they didnt speak to me at all they just told me to sit down in the 3rd chair. When I did the lady walked over and started to do my nails without saying a word. I believe her name was Mimi.I started to tell her how I liked them and she kept rolling her eyes at me. I shouldve left then but I said screw it. Then I told her I like coffin shaped and she proceeded to do it her way. 3 times I told her thats not how I liked it and then I was like its fine (while still smiling).Her husband or who ever he is butted in and was like well show her a picture then since youre being picky. And I said of course Im picky because Im paying for my nails. So she started to shape them and then I noticed my thumb was crooked. I told her it was crooked and she was like your nails was always like that.... lies. My nails have never been crooked. I started to notice I was the only one who they were being rude to. I looked around and they were smiling and acknowledging other customers but with me they were rude. Ive never and I mean NEVER throw the race card around but It just didnt make any sense. Also they yelled at me to pay before services was even rendered and I noticed everybody else was paying after. It baffled me how they were nice on the phone but when they see me they were automatically rude. The last straw was when she finished my nails and didnt put the top coat. I asked for the top coat and the husband butted in and said I needed to wait so I calmly grabbed my stuff and walked out. Yes Im stupid for staying as long as I did but that was my fault and hey they were able to get 30 bucks off of me but I would never go back. If you want nails done go to Spirit nail or foxxy nail where the environment is more friendly and people wont roll theres eyes at you. Youre warned.

I started going to Lux after Pretty Nails closed. Although the staff is friendly and the atmosphere soothing, Im not happy with their work. My first visit was ok but the second not so much. My nails were uneven and thick. After a little over a week one nail started to lift. I was on vacation so had to find a local salon to fix it. I decided to just get them refilled and am I glad I did. When the tech removed the polish all but 3 nails had fungus growing under them! Ive been having my nails done for over 20 years and have never had this problem. I ended up taking off all of the nails and getting a new set. Ill be looking for a new salon when I get home.

Just moved to the area, went to Lux on Saturday morning for a manicure and pedicure.They barely had any name brand nail polish to choose from, had to choose their house brand.The girl could not communicate with me at all, no English.The worst part is when she cut me, not just once but twice! Sure hope that I don’t get an infection, very swollen and sore.If I’m paying for services, give me someone that knows what their doing or is not in a hurry.I’m definitely done with this place!

I walked in and it took several minutes to be acknowledged. After I said I was looking for a manicure the guy turned back to his client and didnt give me an estimated time. He didnt say anything after that. I waited 45 minutes and ended up leaving. There were 2 clients in there so they werent super busy. Wont go back.

I love this nail salon. I have been to all of the salons in the area and this is by far the best. They are quick and they have matching color sets for no chip finger nails that exactly match the paint for your regular pedicures.

The best nail salon I’ve ever frequented. They are so friendly and thorough making my ugly nails beautiful! My nails also last longer than other places which makes it a great value as well.

Overcharged 5.00 for a basic pedicure! Should of been 25.00! They would rather argue over 5.00, then admit they overcharged!! Lost a potential new customer, my daughter who I sent in, plus my business as well. Will be going to Bliss in Fox Lake instead!

Terrible experience. LET me first say that I have been a loyal customer to this salon for years. However, tonight I was astonished by their behavior. I am getting ready to leave for vacation and being a Monday night, I had to wait until after I got off work to get my nails done. I arrived at 6pm and they didnt close until 7:30.First, there were several comments made by them that they close at 7:30. That being said, they should be prepared to take their last appointment at 7:30. Then, the gel polish they applied started to wrinkle under the UV. Like every nail and tried to talk me into putting glitter over it to mask the imperfections. At this point they were clearly frustrated since it was now 10 minutes after their closing time. I told them to simply remove the polish and I would paint them myself because I felt bad for keeping them late. So they did AND THEN CHARGED ME a higher price than I have ever paid there Im the history of going there. And my nails were not even painted. I now have a full set with no polish.Very unprofessional.They will ask you to go to an ATM if you dont have cash. Unprofessional.I highly recommend McHenry nails and spa as they have always been great the times I have used them.Never going here again.

Ok, aside from doing a decent (but rushed) job on my nails - Came in as my normal place (Foxxy Nails across the street was busy - long wait - blah blah - Decided to go across the street cause I wanted the nails done today). My patience was not worth while. I called at 6:25 & asked if I could come for a fill/no chip. Got a few prices & did go in within 5 mins. Only 2 ppl there that worked there - a lady & a guy. The guy did my nails & all he said to me (in English) was Pick a color - then talks to his girlfriend over there (place is empty no customers). I asked for a price list & before he even answered or grabbed it he looked annoyed & talked to her yet again in their language. SO RUDE!! Despite, I smiled & tried to be a cheery soul but dang - I will NEVER go back. So rude. So cold. I will wait an hour at Foxxy for their outstanding customer service before I ever go back here again. :( Very disappointed. But again to be fair - with a quick (35 min fill - no added attention - not even a double top coat) still did turn out acceptable.

Have been waiting now for over an hour. Kept being told it wont be long as the only available tech kept doing other customers knowing I was sitting waiting to be seen. Came with a friend, we were both sat atstations at the same time, an hour later hernails are almost finished and I was just asked what color I needed. Thanks, but I had somewhere to be an hour & a half after arriving and dont have time now, but at least the other people waiting after me were assisted. The place across the street next to the Starbucks is where I normally go and 100000x better, the only reason I came here today was bc my normal place is closed. Wont make that mistake again. I work in the salon industry & understand being busy but an hour long wait when being told it will only be a few minutes is ridiculous.

Extremely disappointed and very angry. A lady named mimi (according to the gentleman who answered the phone who first said her name was Helen so idk if Mimi is even the ladys actual name) did a french no chip manicure. My nails were filed uneven. She didnt even keep my nails under the light for the required time she was in a hurry to finish. Then when it was time to pay. A sign posted at the register read in order to use a credit card puchase must be over $15. Which was fine my nails cost $40. The receipt was printed out for me to write in a tip and sign which i did. This lady looked at me and said dont u have cash. I could not beleive she just asked me that. I said no. She gave me a dirty look and took the signed receipt. Regardless whether a person pays a tip in cash or on a credit card receipt the person receiving the tip should be grateful. Would NOT recommend this place.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I have been a loyal costumer for a long time, years. I dont like switching so I stayed even though there were a few red flags, but after today, I will NEVER EVER go back or reccomened to anyone. The staff is extremely rude. Rough with your nails. Do not clean anything. Reuse the same nail files/clippers/etc without replacement or sterilization (I go to school for Cosmetology which includes nails so I do know the correct precedures and they do not follow them) They will lie to you, and talk about you when you are sitting there. They are overall horrible, this last time I went was the last straw. I got a full set last Sunday. Since then 3 nails have broken, and I have gone in to fix them. It was fine until he was being rude about fixing them. He rolls his eyes and gets so angry when he saw me to fix another nail, third one in a week since I just got them done- its his fault he made them too thin in the first place. I told him that I think they are too thin because they normally dont break like that easily, he tried to blame it on me he says my nails are too long and that I need them shorter Im to rough with them etc, (thats another thing- Nobody here will let you have long nails and if you say you want them they will tell you why you shouldnt have them and roll their eyes/get aggravated at you.)- anyways, he tried to remove the fake nail with a cuticle clipper and tried to pry my fake nail from my real one (which their supposed to soak off anyways but they do this all the time to save time/money) he is being very rough and shoves it under my nail purposely I can tell because he doesnt want to redo another nail third seperate nail that has broken, he made that pretty obvious with his aggrevated breathing and rude body language. He cut my finger badly ripping my real nail off of the nail bed and made me bleed in 2 spots on one finger nail and proceeded to ask if I still wanted to have a nail put on because its hurt and I should wait to get it done, I told him he is the one that just did that to me in the first place and that its bleeding. He tried to blame it on me saying my nail was too long. He did not want to redo it and was being horrible. He would breathe really loudly aggravated just overall rude and horrible costumer service. Long story short, I have a missing nail and this place is disgustingly rude to their costumers. Im never going back.Plus, I heard him say my name in the middle of sentence while ranting in Chinese language- so I know they were talking rudely of me the entire time I was there.

The girl couldn’t communicate. She cut my finger and my toe. The polish peeled off 4 days later. Also when the girl opened the pedicure kit, nails fell out of the package, she refused to get another one.

It was just OK. I did not think they did a very thorough job on my feet, and the atmosphere there was cold. I would not go back or recommend them to others.

Fast if you ask, they like to talk in their language and its rude, they will try to UP SELL without telling you the cost, they use same Nail file NOT a NEW one on more than one client.
