Excellent service, first on the phone and then on the premises in person. I got what I was looking for and they have given me excellent advice. Andrew is excellent!
Seems like they have a lot of techs and employees which is awesome because I’m used to 1 or 2 guys at the shops up north abs never being able to talk to anyone. I literally was riding down A1A and my rear derailleur of a bike I never ride stopped switching while in the lowest gear. 😩 googled closest bike shop and figured it would be a gamble. These guys opened a few minutes after I showed up and just rolled my bike into the back and sprayed some oil in my shifter, took time to make sure the derailleur was switching smoothly, answered my questions, were super chill and friendly, and sent me out the door. So nice and efficient and y’all do notttt know how much I appreciate it! Left a great impression for them to help me out on the fly like that.
Customer service??? Ordered a bike via the Giant website, paid full price plus a $35.00 destination fee, and a $50.00 delivery fee. Giant e-mailed me that the bike was ready, and the retailer should contact me. The retailer, this store, never contacted me. I called the store and they advised I am a few miles outside of their arbitrary delivery area, so they wont deliver to me, no exceptions whatsoever.Owner refused to speak with me when I called, even though I requested to speak with the owner, and the owner was shuttling messages through an employee. I asked to leave a message for the owner, but a message was refused to be taken, and I was told I can call back on a Monday and I could try the owners extension.I asked the store to cancel the order and process a refund since they are refusing to fulfill the order, but was advised, they wont cancel it, I have to request a cancelation via a website.I guess I now know why there are so many one star reviews.
My beach cruiser was 19 years old. Still great shape but so, so heavy it was hurting my hips and knees when I would take her out for a spin. I went into Downtown Bikes North on Federal Hwy and Rob was AMAZING. He fitted me with a new beach cruiser w/speeds(something new to me)lol. Once the bike was tuned up and made ready for me to ride, he reviewed how to shift the gears since I was always on a single speed bike. He watched me ride the bike and made some adjustments so I would be safe and comfortable on the bike. My helmet was from a big box store and we reviewed the idea of a better helmet. Once I tried one on, I totally see why I wasnt wearing my old heavy one! The upgraded helmet is lightweight and comfortable. I will ALWAYS wear one now. Love my new bike,, Love my helmet, bell and lights! Go over and see Rob at the North shop!
I was stranded with a flat. Andrew explained everything and i got new racing tires. What a difference!! Highly recommended, ask for andrew and tell him Max sent ya 💪
Always a frantic experience in any bike shop these days but Ken managed to get me in and out quickly with my two bike rentals, and while juggling demanding customers, all with a smile on his face. They also play awesome classic rock: Led Zeppelin, The Who, and The Stones, all on the sound system during my time there. Some really sweet bikes there too!🚴 🎸 🤘🏻
I bought a Giant Revolt 2 a couple of weeks ago in this store. The staff I talked to (except Andrew, who was quite nice) was rude and never provided the information I asked for. The bike was assembled and ready 6 hours after the time they said it would be ready and was poorly assembled; among other issues, the rear brake was completely loose, the derrailleur was not adjusted so I could not use a couple of gears, and the seat was loose and dangling. I’ve always had a good experience in other bike stores in this area so would recommend visiting any other store around.
Rented a great road bike while I was in town for the week. Super helpful with fitting and accessories. Highly recommend.
I looked at some of the reviews after I purchased a $4000 bike and got a little nervous. At my earliest convenience I drove over to the shop in Ft. Lauderdale to see the shop. I went inside to meet Andrew who sold me the bike. The manager Dereck was there as well and they both addressed my concerns of some bad reviews. They have been in the same spot for over 20 years . You don’t do that with bad customer service. They also answered all my bicycling questions. I purchased a lot of supplies that day as well. I highly recommend this shop and Andrew and DerrickI’ll repost after I receive my bike with in the next 10 to 14 daysLeslie
Although I didnt buy a bike, I experienced excellent customer service. Ken was very helpful, courteous, and honest about the bikes at this store. He was knowledgeable and answered all of my questions thoroughly.
They rent quality, well maintained road bikes (and Ft Lauderdale is a great place to ride, being completely flat, lots of bike lanes, and A1A which you can ride north as long as you want up the coastline, and back. All very safe). Friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and fast service.
Went to look fo a seat for my sons bike. Asked a question regarding a comfortable seat for hin. The guy just sat behind the desk pointing me where to go instead of actually getting up and helping me pick something. His conversation with the gal next to him was more important. I miss Big Wheel on Sunrise Blvd. and US-1. They had the best customer service. They went out of their way to help and sell a product. I guess Downtown Bicycles doesnt need my money. Will not come here again.
I had a terrible experience renting 2 bikes for my kids while they were in town. First you need to know that they rent bikes by the calander day (not a 24 hour day simular to renting a car, motorcycle or even a hotel room). I picked up the bikes approximaty 4pm on Friday and returned them at 10 am Monday when they opened up becuase they are closed on Sunday. I had the bikes a total of 30 hours (less than 3 days ) and they charge for 4 full days. They said everyone charges the same way and blamed it on thier wedbsite. I rented 2 bikes from a close buy competitor and they charged for 3 days vs 4. The staff attitudes were very poor and they all acted as if they did not like thier employment clearly did not care that I was not happy. I am buying 2 new bikes next week and I promise it will not be at Downtown Bicycles.
I bought a new giant tough road bicycle from them to do a coast to coast ride, but the ride was canceled due to COVID-19. So I paid this bike shop to box up the bike and ship it. Just picked up the bike at the next bike shop and they said it was the worst pack job they ever saw. There was no protection and I had to pay for all the damage to the, plus there were other broken parts which I had to buy. So beware. Make sure you get what you pay for.
Ive bought two bicycles in the past 7 years here and I wont go anywhere else. Super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and full-service oriented bike store. Highly recommend.
Purchased bikes from these guys for years. Had them build bikes for me over the years. They lost their repair technician and now can’t seem to service customers. Dropped a bike pump off for repair with them in January. Several calls and follow up emails by me....February 20 I get a call ‘hey, we don’t know when we could get a part for that’Buy from a local shop that can repair the things you buy from them when they break. Otherwise, this shop is no better than competitivecyclist.com or canyon!!!!
I took my bike to get the tired fixed. They said it would be ready to pick up the next day. I came by the next day and it wasnt. They said the mechanic didnt come in. I understand that but they should have called me early to let me know so i could make a call and be able to get it fixed for the weekend!!!!!
Bald guy that works there was extremely rude and unprofessional. I would recommend buying elsewhere.
I’m not often inclined to write a review, but when you have a truly exceptional experience it’s worth doing. Big thank you to Christy Falco, who was so extremely knowledgeable, helpful and patient in answering all of my questions. I recently decided to train for a triathlon and have no experience in competitive biking. Christy took the time to give me so much information and made me feel much more comfortable about the buying experience. Thank you!
Great full service bicycle shop. Staff is very friendly and always eager to help. Walked in with a flat tire and they fixed it on the spot. I was back in the saddle in 15 minutes! Thank You 😊
Derek, Milton and Christy have been helping me since I purchased my first bicycle at downtown bicycles 7 years ago. They are kind, attentive, honest and intelligent.
I purchased a bike here March 31st. I had them add all sorts of goodies to it too. I took home only to discover the frame was to small for me and I started to have buyers remorse. I called them up and they invited me to come back and to choose the right bike, which I did and can’t be happier about how they treated me and the service. I would recommend them.
Yep, bad DISHONEST people. Took bike in for brake bleed. Agreed on a price and paid a deposit and dropped of bike. Went to check on the bike and they decided they needed to charge me almost 100% percent more. Would not honor original price quoted. DO NOT BUY or get service here.
Went into Downtown Cycles on Federal Hwy for a new tube. They then informed me that I need a new tire and tube protector to which I agreed. I bought a tube, tire and tube protector and they charged me $12 dollars for the installation. Without riding the bike/tube the tire went flat. I took it back and they concluded that it was the rim. When I asked for a cut on cost for a new rim they said no. When I asked if they were going to charge me for a new tube they yes. So I payed $12 dollars for professional installation that they did not stand by. I did not ask but they probably would have charged me another $12 if I had bought the wheel from them and had the tube installed. My time is also worth money. They have lost a customer. Downtown Cycles on Federal Hwy does not stand by their labor.
I bought my bicycle there a few years ago. Have gone back to fix minor problems and they didnt charge me for fixing them. Just picked up my bike from my latest tune-up and it rides like a charm. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They are enforcing social distancing strictly, which is reassuring.
The owner owner has no customer service. The owner price gauges charges for unnecessary repairs. Needed a simple flat repair. Owner Derick tried to charge for break repair unnecessary repair. Dont waste your time and money at Downtown Bicycle shop go somewhere else.
Took my road bike in for a major overhaul last week and the bike techs at downtown bicycle made my 13 yr/old bike ride as if it just came off the showroom floor!! They were very good about communicating with me on what needed to be done and kept me informed about pricing the entire time! Highly recommend taking your bike here for any tuneup or repair work needed!
VERY OVERPRICED AND DISHONEST people! They wont honor the original price they gave when they received the bike! They charged my card without letting me know over %100 more of the price they gave me at the beginning! I belong to a bike club I will let know to every member about this awful situation!
Excellent service and friendly people....very patient...lol. Highly recommend.
I should’ve read the reviews. I took my bike in for work asked for an estimate, they gave me back the estimate for the work so I paid in full to proceed with the repairs. Then I was never called about an increase of 500 dollars on the repairs. I would’ve appreciated a call to inform me of the increase and error on their part of not doing so before doing the work. Now they are holding my bike hostage. Poor customer service and poor business overall.
Great staff, quick turnaround, high end bikes. Really open to cyclists of all experience and abilities. If you have any bike needs I highly recommend downtown bicycles.
There are not words to thank Downtown Bicycles for the support, time, and care Downtown Bicycles gave me so I could too could become a cyclist. Christy. Milton, and Derrick are amazing and every friend I have sent their way has said the same. Thanks Downtown Bikes for being Rock Stars
Called with a simple mechanical question and too see if they had a way to fix... Got totally blown off when the guy on the phone realized I didnt buy my very expensive bike there. Your mechanic will take care of it for you was his response. This really means that they only give service to people who buy from them??? Sad service and this is not the first time Ive experienced the arrogance of their staff. Stay away....
Decent selection of bikes. Poor selection of accessories. They will try to overcharge you by doing work you didn’t ask for so be careful. They called me on the phone saying the rim I ordered which came a week late was in and to bring the bike in so they can change it out.Although I told them I would do the work and install the tire myself so as not to get charged a fee when I bought it. Instead of telling me it will be about 40 bucks to put it on when I brought the bike in they took it and did the work didn’t mention the fee and sprang the payment on me at the end. Then they became overly aggressive saying I have to pay I folded instantly and paid although they remained aggressive after. They need to have clear communication and not spring payments on people when you didn’t even ask them to do an install.
All I can say is I wish I could ride two bikes at once. I spoke with Derrick at the shop about an issue I was having. Within minutes Derrick and his crack staff had a solution at a great price!!!. He followed up and in the end took great care of my situation. I would not even think of going anywhere else for biking knowledge and solutions. These guys are real pros!!!! Go see Derrick today!!!
This is the best bicycle shop I have ever had the pleasure of working with!! Many levels above the rest! Incredible selection and most importantlythe most well trained and professional mechanics.!!Incredible tune ups!!! Can make a brand new bike a SUPER BIKE!!!
Great shop! Every other bicycle shop in the Fort Lauderdale area refused to sell me the tool I needed to change the Freewheel on my bike because they wanted me to do the work there but downtown not only sell the tool the cost was a low $10 which its pretty much what I would have got it for me on Amazon.
They charge fees without notice
Fantastic, I’ve always spent good time in shops with advice and trying to see if they size you up correctly etc. And this place has given me the best advice and are currently working in sizing me into another road bike. Never any pressure or trying to oversell you on anything, you buy what you want and if what you want isn’t right they will advise you as they should....
This is the situation: I took my electrical bike to this place to change a flat tire, a front desk lady received the bike and told me that the cost for the service was $37 ($19 for the tub + $18 installation). When I wanted to pick up the bike it was another person in the desk and told me that the service price was off! That the right price was $60! This person charged my card without previous notification of the reason why he was charging way more than the price they told me at the beginning! So disrespectful and very overpriced!
After looking for a simple hardware part for my mountain bike that I couldn’t find in the hardware store, I called Downtown Bicycle. They told me to come on in and they would be glad to try to look for it in their parts bin. When I arrived though, I was given the cold shoulder. “You don’t want to pay for my time to go through our parts bin to look for this part. If you already checked the hardware store you are probably not going to find it. “ was literally what they said. I could only suspect they were steering me towards their mechanic and a higher bill with replaced parts. It is the small details that count in customer service. Even though the part was small and inexpensive, it was important to me and I could not ride my bicycle without it. After going to a nearby shop, they took the time to go through their parts bin and found what I needed with no problem. Huge difference in customer service and the latter will receive all my future visits and dollars for my bicycle needs.Just someone who likes to write it as he sees it!
Great service, Christy is fantastic! Store has good inventory of bicycles and parts, even during the general shortages during covid19.
If you are in the market for a new bicycle this is the place to go. The staff is very knowledgeable and super friendly. My buying experience was top notch! They have been very helpful post sale as well. I highly recommend Downtown for your biking needs!
Excellent Bike shop. Very helpful and professional. I ordered a part and it came in defective. The owner went above and beyond to get a new one in a very short time so I could make my out of town event. I highly recommend them for any bike needs.
DO NOt take your bike here! Spent several hundred $s on full service maintenance for 2x bikes. After the first ride post service, spokes started breaking. Took back to shop to repair. They refused to honor their work and wanted to charge me for 2 new wheels. What a bunch of scammers. I highly recommend NOT buying a bike, bike accessories or servicing your bike at this location. Too many other honest shops in Ft. Lauderdale to deal with this BS.
Great staff. Great service. Entry to high end. They do it all. Cruisers to hybrids to road bikes. Mechanic has over 20 years experience. Best in town, hands down.
Very knowledgeable staff about everything bikes. We went to buy a few high performance bikes and were very happy with the service and with our new bikes! The best place to shop for bikes with such a knowledgeable staff! Great place overall!
Old school bike shop. Great mechanics and great service. Get off the couch and get a bike from these guys and start to ride!!!!
Awesome staff. Milton got us the bikes we wanted. Quality bikes at reasonable prices & an extensive selection. Test rode several bikes. No pressure; very helpful & informative.
We arrived in Fort Lauderdale on a family vacation when the wheel on our jogging stroller (Bob) would not work correctly. I called up Downtown Bicycles and was told to come in and they would try and help me. When I arrived two mechanics were busy working on bikes, but immediately came to my aid and had to perform some serious work on my wheel to get it to spin correctly (for only $15). Everyone in Downtown is extremely nice and helpful. As a triathlete, this is definitely the type of business I would love to give my money to.
Everyone that works there knows there by better then anyone else I have ran into. Extremely friendly extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone to go and give their bikes serviced or to purchase one.
I went in for the first time to buy a replacement chain for my road bike. The sales associate got me the chain I requested but he had a bad attitude and seemed more interested in talking to his friends/regular customers that were in the store than me. Plenty of other local bike stores with good customer service. I won’t be returning.
Wow!! is not all i have to say, but man its a start!. My experience here started with speaking with Robin, about purchasing a high end used Tri bike, pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. I bought the bike. I drove two hours south from Port St Lucie the next day. The Bike was awesome, Milton, MILTON!! AWESOME DUDE! Milton fitted me out with pedals and shoes and spent two hours with me fitting the bike for my pedal and style of riding. Pleasant afternoon with a group of people that certainly fit the cyclist style, AND KNOW THEIR BUSINESS. Thank you ALL so muchJames
Great bike shop with helpful staff, didnt make a purchase but brought olmy bike by for questions and they had the answers irregardless that it wasnt purchased there...thank you!
Brought my ebike coz had a flat tire. I asked how much it would cost me. The lady said oh because its a E-bike we charge extra I said okey how much responded 30$ I said okay. Then she asked me do I wanna wait and we do it now. I said Ill pick it up at before 6pm. (the time when store is closed). I came down 5 45 pm. The guy comes out and says your bike is not ready but it was supposed to be ready I left it 7 hours ago! dont worry we are gonna make it ready now. Then he comes back in 3 minutes and says Its not gonna be ready now, youll pick it up tomorrowwhat a hell.when I go to Lees store (Hollywood) or JB bike shop (North Beach) they tell me its max 20 minutes, but they do it even faster.I left the store and decided to come back in 2 minutes to figure out why they couldnt fix the bike now and when I returned the repair guy was working on other bikes but mine still had been there since 11 and its 5 minutes before closing The customers were not there to pick up the bikes he was working on but I was waiting So I asked why he wasnt working on my bike and he responded because these bikes are easier to fix than yours so I offered to pay extra for him to do now and remember my bike was already there for 7 hours and he agreed to do it for extra money!!!Five minutes later i checked on him and i asked him maybe you want me to take the battery off coz its heavy, he said no I almost done. But it was just a beginning of the fight. I took the battery. then he proceeded to fight again. Then I said maybe you want me to put a saddleback so that way you can lift the bike and it will be easier for you the guy said that would be grate! the funny thing is I asked before I left the bike if they need my saddle cuz i know it would be easier for them to fix it. The lady said no, its okay we dont need this. She probably doesnt have a clue about bikes.then the cashier came buy they started to fight together. and then I realized that the boy doesnt even know how to fix it... hands are shaking... My bike is expensive 2000$ and they were slamming it) Ive never seen anybody fixing a bike like that. I thought was... let me just get it roll and I will never come back to this store. Then 20 minutes later...they finally put the wheel back... I pull out 20$ and game to yhe guy extra, how I promised.I went to catchier and game my card and he was holding it for 8-10 minutes... what for...?He gave me recipt and it was 50$!!!What the hell. the most funny charge was 7,50 for pumping the air!!! front and back... dispute that they didnt pump my rear wheel. I brought with me).I said you said 30$ and now its 50$yeah, but its because and bla bla bla..Then I sad that you told me that my bike will be ready before 6pm and its now!!!she said But we are so sorry =)The funny thing is when I get home and checked my rear tire... it wasnt even filled properly...=) probable for proper fill they charge twice)Im glad that I live in this neighborhood and I will advice nobody to come to this store... thank you
Called them up and brought out 2 bikes the same day, both needing some repairs. Really nice guy there and was able to sort me out much more quickly and cheaply than I expected! He asked me where and how I was going to bike and tailored any options to what was reasonable. Will return.
Derrick, Milton and the staff at downtown bicycles are amazing. After suffering a running injury I wanted to get into biking (less impact on joints). The team took the time to custom fit me for a bike that fit and was comfortable. After doing some research I found that the deal they gave me on my bike was better than any other shop in the area, and most places didnt even have the larger frame. Great quality and I couldnt be happier with my new Felt V110f!!! Thanks Downtown Bicycles.
Amazing staff! Visiting from Miami I managed to bend a rim - the staff was very understanding and helped straighten me out in about 15 minutes. Thank yall so much!
Good selection, service and price
My boyfriend bought my Citizen 2 Femme for me from here. Derek was super helpful and nice. Bike is really awesome and rides perfectly. Would recommend.
I havent done any maintenance on my bike in an embarrassingly long time. I called Downtown Bicycles after they opened and could hear they were busy but yet he let me know they could absolutely replace and install my tires today (while I was told it would be three days at another store). Once there I was greeted by friendly staff who were helpful and didnt try to upsell me, considering the age of my bike. After 20 minutes I picked it up again and scheduled a tune-up for next weekend because I was so impressed by the service I received. I found it refreshing to be in a specialty store where I wasnt looked down on because Im not a real cyclist.
Derek, Christy and the crew are just terrific! They love their customers and treat us like family. They do absolutely fabulous work and they do it to our satisfaction. I LOVE DOWNTOWN BICYCLES!!!!
GREAT BIKE SHOP!!! I just did a relay triathlon today and was supposed to do the run. Well, our cyclist was unable to make it and I only found out 2 days before todays event. I took my bike (which I havent ridden in 1 year) to DownTown Bikes where they tuned it up--to Perfection! THE BIKE HAS NEVER RIDDEN BETTER! Everyone at Down Town Bikes saved me! Thanks for the quick and AWESOME service!
Great place and people
Great selection, great staff, great experience!
Amazing place - good prices, great staff and fantastic inventory of bikes and accessories. What impressed me the most was how the sales person really cared that I got best bike and not just the most expensive one he could sell me....
Derrick and his team can always be counted on for practical advice and performance. Whenever my wife or I have a big ride planned we count on Downtown to get us on the road and keep us there. BTW if you are buying a new bike or your old one doesnt feel right Derrick is the fitmeister
This is a great bike shop that also happens to do wonderful things to give back to the community. Thanks DTB, you rock!
First timer to this shop. Sales staff was accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. Good selection of Bikes and parts. Will definitely return! Thanks!!!Enthusiasts
Don’t bother. I gave them my name and number to call me back when they received a certain bike that I was told would be in by tomorrow so I could see it since most other bikes were already boxed up or not available. It’s been two weeks and I never got a call back, even after a follow up.
Great service friendly staff Awesome experience 5 Stars
The entire staff at DTB is amazing! Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable! I bought my first Hybrid from them and I am excited for my future Road Bike purchase!
Great place!!!
I never write reviews, but this store forced me. WORST
Were from out of town and had a flat tire. Went in on Sunday and they fixed it and we were out of there in no time at all. Excellent service!
Great staff! Very knowledgeable of bikes and helping to choose what would be best for YOU!
Stopped by about 5:00 pm. We had two bicycles with derailleur problems and one of them had a broken spoke. The two men in the repair department assessed the problems and fixed both bikes while we shopped at the grocery store. The cost was very reasonable.
Great staff, great service. Top notch!
Very friendly and helpful
