Ryan was a great asset to me as a first time buyer. He helped educate me on the best ways to make my offers as competitive as possible without sacrificing key contingencies, which is something thats very important given that the current market is unusually hot (and therefore very difficult for buyers) and all of the good houses are getting multiple offers after being listed for one day. He taught me about many details about the neighborhoods I was looking in that I would have otherwise overlooked (like high-tax metro districts and proximity to train tracks) as well as things to consider that are important for resale value. If I had to pick two things where he really shined, it was being ready to view properties on short notice right when they hit the market as well as giving the right advice for negotiating seller concessions. I had the privilege of working with Scott Lowe while he ran a non-profit. One of the areas I appreciated about him was his ability to move the ball forward. Plus, he was and is willing to do what it takes to advance the cause. Two examples of this persistence deal with a building. First, we were without a place to meet at the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010. Through Scott’s initiative and few others, we were able to finance, to do repairs, remodel and move-in within a month of closing. Scott was able to align all the pieces to get the job done. Second, about 5 years down the road Scott led us in a capital campaign to pay off the building. Through his creativity, planning and relationship building we were able to pay off the building mortgage within a year of starting the campaign. I am sure wherever and with whomever Scott works, his determination will get the job done.
