I’m finally getting up the nerve to write this review, as I’ve been too afraid of going to a dentist for the last 6 years after my experience there. I was referred to Dr. Shumaker in 2015 by Dr. Vinna Norris to have gum grafting done. Dr. Shumaker told me that I’d be a good candidate for the procedure. During the surgery, though physically pain free, I had to listen to him and his assistant laugh and joke about my dentist (Dr. Norris) who they witnessed having too much to drink at a recent party. On the evening of the surgery I started having so much pain that I was unable to even swallow water. The next morning the packing fell off, the pain was unbearable, and I called the office for help. The front desk woman completely dismissed my plea for help, telling me it was normal and that I’d just have to tough it out. Two days later I used a mirror to examine the roof of my mouth and saw that the site had become a gaping open trench. When I called again I insisted on talking with Dr. Shumaker, who called me back and requested a photo of it. Once he saw it, he had me come in when the office was closed to repack it.After several weeks of continued pain it pretty much closed up, though not fully healed. When Dr. Shumaker saw me for my follow up he said, “My guess is that you don’t want this procedure on the other side of your mouth.” Damn right I didn’t! I paid my $3,000 and left!Six years later I still have numbness and tingling on the roof of my mouth. I would never recommend this place. I wouldn’t even recommend Dr. Norris who saw the photo of the roof of my mouth, minimized it, and said that she’d trust her child to Dr. Shumaker. If she had known that she was the target of their jokes she might have felt differently.

I absolutely had an amazing experience, everyone there was so kind, Dr. Shumaker is awesome and the staff are wonderful people and I felt so comfortable and I absolutely recommend this place for anyone that needs periodontal procedures, I’m definitely going back and very much trust them with all of my periodontal needs!

Tooth extractions are never fun nor very pleasant. However, my extraction of a very problematical upper molar was as painless and efficient as it could possibly be. Dr. Nick Shumaker was both gentle as one could possibly be while extracting a tooth that just didnt want to come out, keeping me, the patient, informed at every step. His bedside manner is surpassed only by his skill with an anesthetic syringe and the many tools of his trade. Additionally, the staff, both at the front desk and in the OR are all exceptional. I HIGHLY recommend this practice for all major dental needs!

I had already been very impressed by periodontist Dr. Jessica Allen during my establish care appointment. When I returned for my first cleaning, dental hygienist Gabby provided excellent care and shared helpful information about new techniques I could add to my home-care practices.

From a person who fears doctors and shots, I can’t fully express how my anxiety calms from the moment I walk into this Northern Colorado Periodontics office and am greeted by the friendly people at the front desk. Then cheerful, upbeat and informative Renee continues to calm my nerves and gets me relaxed as I wait for Dr Allen. From the first surgery Dr Allen gave me, every cell in my body knew I was being treated by the ‘finest’ in the Periodontics Field. As I was leaving after my last visit, the nice lady around the corner in the office went out of her way to get me a much needed pump for my Closys. I hesitate to send in this review because I’m a patient with a sever gag reaction and an unruly tongue and I’d hate to be bumped off their list for easier clients. (Kidding). The entire staff is exceptional!

I came in for an appointment to prepare for an implant. This is the best place to go in my opinion. Great people, state of the art equipment, and a friendly attitude. I had my “vitals” appointment today & it was very informative. Jacqueline was amazing. She is terrific..I would like to say that I was disappointed that the papers I received on my first visit contained only information about the surgery & what foods to eat after the surgery. There should have been a paper informing me what wold happen today. You need to include such a paper. You are great with the surgery part. Please consider including a sheet about the vitals appointment.

This place is amazing! From the moment you walk through the door you feel valued and cared for.Having just moved into the area, I was apprehensive about having oral surgery at an unfamiliar office. Dr. Allen and her staff are extremely skilled at what they do.I have had at least 5 oral surgeries in my life; Dr. Allen was by far the best.The surgeon you select is important, but just as important is their support staff. They were all exceptional, especially the ladies at the reception desk. They patiently answered all of my questions regarding insurance coverage as well surgery recovery and prescriptions.I cant say enough good things about this office. You wont be disappointed if you select them.

Well, seeing as Northern Colorado Periodontics has a 4.9 star review average this almost seems redundant but I will offer my two cents anyway. They are top-notch in every respect; from the office to the doctors and assistants. Susan, in particular, took exceptional care of me during my last visit. All of the assistants have been great these last few years but Susan really seemed to have a gentle touch that just suited me better.

Truly outstanding experience all around! All of the staff are pleasant and attentive to the patients concerns and comfort. Dr. Paris kept me in the know and never lost track of my comfort level. All steps of my implant procedures by Dr. Paris went very very smooth. Thank you Dr. Paris and staff!!My sincere and highest recommendation to others.

Ive been here a few times for periodontal treatments and have always received excellent care and service. However, on my most recent visit I was provided with an exceptional experience with hygienist, Susan. Not only did she take care with my scaling and cleaning but she also educated me on preventative care measures and really made sure I knew how the procedures she was conducting would benefit my gums, teeth and overall health. I was very impressed with her attention to detail and the way she educated me on preventative care. Kudos, Susan!

I found the staff to be friendly, on top of their game. Beautiful office that makes you forget youre in a Dental office. I was given options to deal with the issue I was facing. After speaking with my Physician he felt the option offered and really tried to talk m into was not the right one due to the nerve damage I have from another local periodontist. I would still recommend them regardless. Just liked the vibe there.

Never actually went in but I was recommended through another dentist, I called and made an appointment, then they tell me it’s going to cost over $300 upfront because they are out of network on my insurance, I relented and let it slide. The real killer was when I called back exactly 2 weeks before to cancel because I found someone else that accepted my insurance, and they tell me it’s ok but if I ever want to go to them again I have to pay them on the day I make the appointment! Have you ever thought maybe that’s the read why I don’t want todo business with you to begin with?!?!?!?

Not going to lie...I was really nervous about my appointment, I’ve never had work like this done before. From the initial consultation appointment, to the actual procedure I was very impressed. All of the staff is professional and very friendly. Jacqueline was an amazing assistant, she made me feel so comfortable and soothed my fear during the procedure. Dr. Shumaker paid very close attention to detail and made it a completely painless procedure! So grateful for him and his team!

I had a few gum graft procedures done and I am happy to say that it was the most relaxed dental visit I have ever had! Dr. Paris, Renee & Jacqueline all worked wonderful together and made sure I was comfortable and not in any discomfort frequently during my visit. I was more worried about the after math of the procedure but it was definitely way better than I expected! Needless to say I am extremely pleased! I feel very privileged to have Dr. Paris as my personal Periodontist and colleague. I am a dentist myself and had to undergo a very difficult and extensive procedure. Renee explained every process and procedure very clearly. She is patient, gentle and genuinely cares about your experience and health. Everyone is very professional and helpful. I’ve been impressed with the care I’ve received from the entire staff, especially Dr. Paris.

Office staff was cold on arrival, said I did not complete the online paperwork, which I did. They couldnt find it so I had to do it again. Then we waited for nearly 40min for a 3 min conversation with the doc. $99 limited evaluation exam cost and they dont take my insurance. Which the office lady said was explained to me when I made the appointment, but it really was not explained to me or I never would have wasted my time and money. Doc seemed nice but office staff left much to be desired. I will not be going back.

The entire team does a great job! From scheduling to treatment to answering questions, the team is friendly, caring and very responsive. And what I love most is the treatments appear advanced and work. Everything goes smoothly which says there is a great deal of attention to detail going on behind the scenes. I am in good hands with this team.

I had bacteria around my implant that was causing my bone to deteriate. The surgery went well. The staff are all very friendly and Dr Jessica Allen and her assistant Andrea did a great job of explaining what was going to be done and what they were doing during the surgery. Andrea called the evening of the surgery to make sure everything was OK. I was given Dr Allens cell number to call if I had any problems. Which I didnt :))

The surgery went better than I was thinking it would go. I was not looking forward to spending 2 hours in the dental chair, however the time went pretty fast-I only had local anesthesia.I will look forward to seeing the results.

No one loves gum surgery but I love how kind and competent everyone is at Northern Colorado Periodontics, especially Dr. Paris. I have fundamentally bad gums, which, despite my doing all the things one should do, continue to recede. Ive had multiple gum graft procedures at NCP and they have been successful and much more aesthetically pleasing than procedures Ive had elsewhere. Dr. Paris has actually improved the appearance of the first graft that I got when the technology was much more rudimentary in the 90s. Would very much recommend going to NCP if you must have gum grafts.

I can’t say enough about how professional, competent, personable and courteous Dr. Shumaker and his staff are every time I go for my appointment. When I had to have a tooth extraction in an infected area, I was very nervous to have that done and Jackie went out of her way to add humor and comfort to the situation. Dr. Shumaker is simply the best Periodontist in my opinion - he works hard to make any procedure as comfortable as possible and has been excellent at diagnostic evaluations of my dental challenges. I had gone to another dental office and they had urged me and intimidated me to do a costly surgery which later turned out to be totally unnecessary after I got the second opinion from Dr.Shumaker. He carefully examined my condition and listened patiently to my concerns and finally recommended the best treatment plan I could get with much lower cost, and if I ever need any kind of surgery, he always has the best and the most advanced laser technology for that matter with significantly less pain and healing time.Furthermore, Megan, the dental hygienist, did an excellent job for me. She is a very thorough and thoughtful professional and a super nice person too. I needed several extractions and 5 implants done. I am fairly young and was very depressed and embarrassed about my teeth being in such bad shape. I have had a lot of terrible dental work in the past and was/ have always been hesitant about going to the dentist. Dr. Shumaker was extremely compassionate about my situation and very knowledgeable about what needed to be done. It is a long road for implants but I am SO THANKFUL to Dr. Shumaker and his staff for making the process as easy as possible! I am not afraid to smile anymore or talk to people I dont know. Likewise, my care from Dr P yesterday was superb as always, as was the chair-side assistance of Renee, yet another kind, caring, and very talented professional. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about NCP. I feel very fortunate and very blessed to be a patient there. Im a doctor myself, and do not make these kinds of superlative reviews lightly. But I must here -- NCP is the best there is!

I am getting my second treatment plan for a different issue. Dr. Shumaker and his staff are so friendly and professional that when the opportunity to save substantial money by going elsewhere (out of state), I decided the service I receive at this office far outweighs the cost concerns.

When you learn a tooth is damaged beyond repair and has to be replaced by an implant, it can be an overwhelming experience...and expensive, too!Fortunately, by going to Dr. Shumaker or Dr. Paris, you will have helpful, experienced, kind people with you on the journey. The staff, technicians, and dentists are all world class, and will guide you through the process, including the details on what your insurance will, or wont, cover.If you have to have a procedure, like an extraction or an implant placement, you will get a detailed explanation of what will happen, several options for what kind of anesthesia or pain control youd like, and instructions for post-op care.Getting bad dental news is no fun, no question about it.
