I can’t thank VCA enough. My dog had a bad eye ulcer that got infected. My prior vet told me I needed to get her to an ophthalmologist in 2 days; when the place she recommended could not get her in, I called VCA. Maybe it was my pitiful voicemail, but Sabrina was able to get Sadie in to see Dr. Budelsky in 24 hours. I did my research and found he is top rated in the state and was very please to get in so soon to see him. His reputation was everything I expected from the reviews. He and Teresa were AMAZING. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the both of them and their professionalism. Sadie is back on track thanks to them, and her eye is on the mend now! Never once did I question Sadie’s care at VCA. The front desk staff and everyone I spoke to are very understanding when you are upset about your sick pup. I strongly recommend them.-Erin Maddox
They give a standard 2-3 hour wait time so that individuals don’t expect immediate triage, but it was about an hour from time of arrival to checkout. All staff contact was professional and pleasant, all my questions were answered and provided directions on continued treatment. This is not my regular vet and trying to find a vet since moving to the area that I trust and operate professionally has been disappointing, and I am considering moving all my annual exams and typical treatment for my pets to this establishment. Thank you for taking care of my fur kid today.
Do not expect help from VCA. In an emergency situation with my dog, after calling the staff for advice they told me to call poison control and refused to give me any further help. When I pleaded for further help because I just needed to know how to quickly proceed, I was hung up on. I would give them 0 stars if I could.
We just want to express our gratitude to the staff of VCA, who on Saturday morning, assisted us in letting go of our sweet Kasey dog of more than 16 years. Kasey was on her own end of life path, and nothing we were attempting in prolonging her life was going to change that, as it became apparent. Kasey had stopped eating and allowing her to starve to death was out of the question. Being with our girl for the end of her life was a requirement for us. We went in on Saturday morning and were informed there was no doctor on staff who would allow us to be with Kasey. However the staff and nurse stepped up and took care of matters to allow Kasey to peacefully leave us while we held her close. It was so comforting and assuring for us as we let Kasey go from our lives. To the staff and nurse, your stepping up to help us meant the world to us. Thank you for your gentleness and compassion. It will never be forgotten.
We are beyond grateful for the compassionate and knowledgeable staff here at VCA AVCC! We first came here a few months ago when we found out Duke tore his ACL. We met with Dr. Vecchio to discuss our options. Duke is a senior large breed dog with congenital kidney disease, so any decision we make for his care is never taken lightly.Dr. Vecchio was so kind and attentive to Duke’s special needs. He gave us multiple options and allowed us to make the best decision for Duke without feeling pressured into anything. We chose to pursue a conservative approach to heal his knees, which is when we met Dr. Talaga and her team in the Physical Rehabilitation department. They were also so good to Duke! They were very attentive to his needs and ensured that he was able to receive his therapy in a setting that made him feel comfortable and safe.Dr. Talaga gave us wonderful resources and activities to do at home on the days we weren’t at the hospital for therapy. We just finished our first 6 weeks and the progress we have seen with Duke is amazing! He is walking better and has so much more stamina!Thank you to the entire VCA AVCC team for all you do. We are so grateful for you!
To the kind VCA staff person who walked out of work at 5:20 today and asked me (the person in the comfy Adirondack chair, LOL) if I needed anything, THANK YOU. I’ve been here since 10:45am (and up all night prior) hoping to figure out why my sweet little dog has started to have seizures. I can see in my 7+ hours here how genuinely busy you all are - and I can’t imagine how hard and stressful it must be to see lots of animal (and human!!) trauma all day, everyday. But that quick, simple act of compassion really moved me and made me feel “seen”. When people come here they may be losing a very beloved family member and your kind words acknowledged that reality. So never doubt that those moments (of a smile and/or a sincere check-in) matter to the people sitting, waiting, worrying, crying, and praying). Thank you as well to the very kind Dr. who allowed me time to ask questions and process the information being shared. (Presley’s mom).
I want to express my gratitude to the VCA team on duty earlier this year. My dog was attacked in the dog park, neck and head injuries, and I took him here because his vets office is closed in the evening. Very helpful and empathetic receptionist, quick response from the tech and the vet on duty. Dr Zoltan explained in detail everything around his diagnosis and suggested treatment. My boy needed sutures, and they took good care of him. Bentley is now fully recovered and back to his cheerful demeneor.
My cat was recently treated at VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Fishers and despite the scary circumstances, the staff was absolutely amazing and we had a wonderful experience! Dr. Lewis and McKenna went above and beyond to make sure my cat was treated with the BEST care and compassion! After daily updates, I was also sent photos of my little guy! What a great way to reduce the stress of the pet parent when your animal is hospitalized for 3 days:-) Dr. Browne and Dr. Compton were great as well, so we were definitely blessed to have such a talented and caring medical team healing my cat back to great health! Discharge wasnt the best experience, but Im guessing this was probably just a training issue. Thank you to everyone who helped treat my cat during his hospital stay. He didnt show it, but he was so grateful, too!:-) Dont hesitate to bring your sick animal to this facility! You will be in GREAT hands! #FeelingBlessed
Dr. Wentworth, Nurse Lesley and the entire late night staff were so kind and heartfelt when we brought our dog Brie in on emergency last night. They did everything they could to make her comfortable so we could have one last night at home to say goodbye. Thank you for working so hard to make some of the most difficult moments easier to bear. You are the best emergency team Ive ever encountered.
Christina and Courtney were very helpful with my dog Zena. They were upfront about pricing and very polite. They went out of their way to help us. I’m very grateful I chose to go to VCA and will never go to any other Animal Hospital.
The staff at this location were wonderful when I brought my dog in. I thought he was having a stroke and they looked at him right away. He ended staying for two nights and they gave me text up. They were very patient with all my questions. My boy just had vertigo and he is now home and happy.
My dog was having complications from abdominal surgery and they wouldnt even see him. The technician seemed scared of my german shepherd and wouldnt even evaluate him to see if there was a true emergency or not. Im a veterinary technician and they made me ashamed of my profession.
We took my Chloe there for a medical issue. Unfortunately, with her old age and medical condition we had to put her down. Mandy and Lisa did a great job comforting us during this extremely painful time. Professional, clean facility with good people who work there. Thank you...
Last week my dog was in, great staff that helped. Called in later that day with some follow up questions, again helpful. Called today, nobody answered for 15 minutes when they did, asked if they could put me on hold for “just a moment” fifteen minutes goes by without answering, i hang up and call back, again on hold for ten more minutes, finally answers and wants to put me on hold again i say that that’s what i was told a while ago and i had a question regarding the medicine that was given but in the middle she interrupted and started speaking over me in a condescending tone. Whoever answered the phone at 6pm on 6/5/21 either needs a different job or staff to help her do a better job.
Usually when you go to an emergency place they’re quick to see what the problem is, been sitting in the parking lot for 30 minutes already so much for emergency care. (Edited) - I apologize for the bad review I was angry at the wait because I got impatient, they did a great job and a great service to me and my doggy got her feeling better the same day I appreciate everything you guys did.
We had our small dog get mauled by a pitbull and when our other pup was very young she contracted parvo. They were both taken here and we had an excellent experience. Dr. Brown-Goodwin is amazing and the vet techs were always in communication. This has to be a hard professional to be in especially when people bring their dying or hurt animals to you then expect you to work miracles on their helpless or dying animals. I applaud the men and women that work
VCA gets 5 stars in my opinion because they do wonderful work. Unfortunately being such a high volume centre comes with a lot of issues that can arise but I dont think it takes away from the wonderful work they do. My pop had an obstruction about a month ago and they did a wonderful job removing the foreign bodies peris born bodies. Unfortunately when we came back to get our staples removed we had to wait over an hour for our Tech visit which only took about 5 minutes once they got her from the car. They also forgot to remove a staple at that time and I had to come back to have the last one removed and had to wait another 40 minutes for a 1 min appointment. As I mentioned they are a very busy centre and so I do not fault them for these inconveniences although they were very inconvenient.
We had a scare with our pup miss Bella Saturday night. The staff was busy and had a few critical cases come in as soon as we got there, though the wait was long I’m extremely thankful miss Bella was not in the most critical condition. The staff did wonderful even through getting yelled at by people who were having to wait a little longer because their pups were stable. We appreciate the entire team and today miss Bella is starting to act more like herself, she has started to take food again and is expected to make a full recovery.Thank you from us and miss Bella
I arrived Friday evening, July 9th, with my 8 year old bulldog in serious distress. I carried her into the building. She had extremely labored breathing that was raspy and had suddenly began having trouble walking. I was told it was 6 to 8 hours to be seen but someone would come triage her. As I sat on the floor with her, someone did come out. The triage consisted of nothing more than the tech looking at her. She did not listen to her breathe. She didnt touch her at all. She didnt even bother to squat down to see her. She took the time to remind me about the $139 exam fee and and then told me my baby was stable, as I sat there crying, trying to explain to her that something was very wrong and I was afraid my dog was going to die on the floor of the waiting room. Instead of maybe listening to me and taking me serious, she instead offered to give me an info sheet of other emergency offices I could go to.I did leave, carrying my Petunia out, because she couldnt make the walk to the car. No one cared that we were leaving, despite my repeated concerns about the state of my pet.It turns out my Petunia was not stable. She was in fact, in heart failure. She had never shown symptoms before that day. We left VCA at 6:15 pm. Petunia passed away at 9:00 pm at another emergency office in Fishers. I lost my baby and lost precious time with her because I had to drive around to find another emergency office to see her.The total lack of empathy and concern I encountered at VCA is unacceptable and unforgivable. My own vet was completely aghast when I told her what happened. I will never again step foot inside a VCA clinic for help.I do hope someone from VCA reads this and takes a long reflective moment to think about what happened here and how they can absolutely do better. I hope that they learn and do not allow anyone else to sit in their waiting room, falling apart, watching their beloved pet deteriorate all because their staff could not be bothered to do an actual triage exam.No one there seemed too concerned about anything more than explaining their fee structures, 3 separate times, while telling me it would be 6 to 8 hours to treat my dying pet.
Dr Hui and his assistant Hannah were absolutely amazing. Despite giving me devastating news, they were both so caring, personable, professional, and understanding. I cant thank Dr Hui for finding answers and calling me directly multiple times to fill me in on my dogs stay at the facility. I wont hesitate to come back if ever needed.
My 2 year old cat was struggling to pee and I was referred to see VCA in the middle of the night. So happy I did, the staff on every phone call was every kind and empathic towards me and my cat. They answered every question I had diligently and kindly, explained everything throughly, and treated my cat like an old friend. A urine test was taken and test results came very quickly, especially over the weekend. Absolutely loved our experience with VCA . My cat is recovering extremely well and is coming back to his normal self.
If I could give zero stars I would. Both of my daughters have had to use VCA as an emergency vet since April of 2021. Thats right we have had the tragedy of losing 2 fur babies in just a couple of months. Both of them ended up having to say goodbye to their babies. Both had very different circumstances but both were treated like an inconvenience versus a parent of a fur baby that had to say goodbye. I was present for one of these and in constant contact on the other.First One: April 2021. Our beloved little baby had been going through chemo which was ineffective (and extremely expensive). When the time came where we had to say its time they let this pup sit alone on her last day for almost an entire day before talking to my daughter and letting her take her home. They gave her zero updates even though she called hourly feeling that end was very near. And it was, she was gone within hours of releasing her. They knew the situation, they were treating her. They stole the last 6 hours of time between my daughter and her sweet baby girl. But had no issue slapping her with the bill immediately. The second one July 2021. I was present for. The coldness of the clinic personnel was reprehensible. While 6 of us (masked up) were in a room saying goodbye to an old friend that was unexpectantly at the end of his days (It was a sudden rupture). While we were saying goodbye, the VCA employee opens the door and says This will be $645, how do you want to pay for this? instead of asking my daughter to speak privately. Then another VCA employee comes in with the euthanize medication and says are you ready? Then injects the meds, drops the tube on the floor when done, gets up and walks out the room and mutters sorry for your loss as she closes the door. It was cold and callous. No compassion for what is an awful moment for the pups mom and dad. The entire event was unforgivable and you cannot get the time back.I was waiting for my daughter to find another 24 hour vet before posting this. She found one in Carmel. I would encourage anyone that needs a clinic like VCA to look elsewhere. This clinic needs some training on bedside manner. They are brutally bad at it. But again, they know how to ask to get their money. And check out their responses to all negative comments that all seem to have a similar theme. Their responses are canned and on autopilot. Just like their staff. Go to most recent and start scrolling.
I brought my dog in because he had a bump on his back and someone thought it was a tick. It was bleeding so I came in. The tech took me and my dog to the back office. She took my dog to the back and when she came back my dog was missing some hair. The tech told me she had to cut his hair to see the bump. Im like you didnt even ask me. You could have put some water on it or better yet come and ask me if you can cut his hair. He was scalped. It looks horrible. I hope my dog doesnt need anything any time soon and they are the only facility open.
If I could give this facility zero stars I would. My almost 7-year-old Rottie, Gizmo, died at the VCA on 7/15/21. How? Why? Im still trying to piece it all together. To say I am devastated is an understatement. Gizmo was an incredibly healthy dog and in less than 24 hrs was dead. I wanted to talk to the doctor on Gizmos case, Dr. Zoltan, and have him walk me through what happened the next day. He was cold and flippant. I was asking fair questions. How often was Gizmo being checked on; Dr didnt know. Was Gizmo being monitored continuously; Dr didnt know. Where did the blood from his nose come from; Dr didnt know. Would an ultrasound have showed blood; Dr not necessarily (blatant lie). How long was he bleeding; Dr didnt know. If you are the DR on record, how would you not know this information? Doctors write the orders techs follow. How did Gizmo go from O2 of 96 to 63 in 45 minutes with moderate bleeding if he was being properly monitored and cared for?! That doesnt just happen! It just doesnt add up. Gizmo dying doesnt make sense. After DR Z couldnt answer ANY of my questions, I asked to have the medical records, doctor notes and xrays sent to me; my right by law. I was told by Dr Z this would happen immediately, it didnt. I called back 2 hours later, still nothing. We had to go to the facility and demand them. Even then, they would not supply the radiographs or doctors notes. Why? They werent complete. How can it be that a patient is dead and the notes arent complete? Jill, the receptionist, was kind enough to tell us its because they see 100s of animals a day and it was Dr.Z weekend off. Excuse me?! I asked Gizmos vet to request the records (maybe theyd have better luck) and walk me through what she saw so I could understand. Same story: 2 days to receive records with no DR notes or radiographs. As of collecting Gizmos ashes yesterday, AN ENTIRE WEEK LATER, the record is still not complete and still missing notes from the DR on record. How is it that a patient is DEAD and CREMATED and his file still incomplete???I asked my vet, whom Gizmo has seen his entire life, to take a look at the files and walk me through what she saw..... only she cant make sense of what happened either...not on the information that has been provided to her. The outcome doesnt match the symptoms and notes sent, these are her exact words. She also said once his O2 was 63, no vet would have been able to save him.SO HOW DID THAT HAPPEN AND NO ONE NOTICED????Ill tell you how. Gizmo went from 6p-9p without any notes on his record of being checked on. At 9pm his O2 was 91 and it was decided they would start oxygen because it was trending downwards (dx pneumonia) Next document of vitals? 11 PM!! For a dog that seems to be heading in the wrong direction, wouldnt you check on him more closely than 2 hours later? Especially if you just started an oxygen treatment? What is the standard of care for O2 txt? For moderate bleeding? NO ONE CAN TELL ME!! Which begs the question: WHAT DO YOU KNOW?NO ONE at the VCA seems able or willing to explain. Not Dr Zoltan Szilagyi, not the medical director Johnny Cross, or the building manager, Anita Horn. If there is nothing to hide, why cant I get a call back from those in charge? Why cant the doctor finish the record? Make it make sense!Of course the intent of the team/Dr. Zoltan wasnt to let Gizmo die, but he did. I am certain they did everything they could to save him when they found him moderately bleeding with an O2 of 63...but it was too late by then. I am just as certain negligence played a factor in the hours leading to Gizmos death. The law states negligence isnt just the wrong care, its also LACK OF CARE. Maybe they were too busy. Maybe Gizmo wasnt a priority. But if everything was above board why be so shady?! Why cant the DR complete them? Why cant I get a complete record? Or a call back? I recognize we are all human, we err. When mistakes are made, there needs to be accountability and I wont stop until there is. Gizmo deserved more.
This evening was my second poor experience with VCA Fishers. Rude office staff, lack of empathy and a rudimentary triage procedure forced us to look elsewhere for emergency services. The only thing they seemed to care about was the $139 emergency charge. I was told about this charge 3 times, I agreed to the charge the first time... what they needed to worry about, was the gaping hole in my dogs neck that needed medical attention ! I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for emergency services !!
They not only saved my Bella (my momma bichon) once but saved her twice with Eclampsia!! Very thankful and grateful for them
My dog was diagnosed with epilepsy this summer. I have dog insurance and this vet has been amazing handling the claim process, this morning they quickly filed an appeal to the insurance company on my behalf without me even asking! Just awesome support!!
Staff genuinely cares about both you and your pet. With my euthanasia experience, they completely guided me through the process of what would happen during and after and gave us plenty of time with our fur baby to love her and say goodbye and ensured that she would be well taken care of afterwards.
Took my cat in yesterday because she tore out her stiches. Everyone was nice and helpful. The doctor went above and beyond to help me. He explained all my options and even help my kitty temporarily because I couldnt afford to stich her back up there. Thank you all and God bless!
My dog was diagnosed with cancer last spring, and the oncology department at VCA was with me throughout the course of his cancer treatment. Dr. Manor was always willing to talk with me about my options, and she was so good about explaining the pros and cons of each, with our ultimate goal of prolonging Calvins quality of life for as long as possible. I appreciated that the vet techs always called to check in on Calvin, and he was never nervous to go in for a check up. They treated him so well while he was there for a visit every time.I had to make the decision to put Calvin down in November of 2020, and though I went with a mobile vet who did it at my house instead of taking him to VCA, the doctors and staff that treated him at VCA sent me a heartfelt note after his death.Thankful that I was shown such caring and kindness through one of the most difficult times in my life. Highly recommend if you find yourself to be put in such an unfortunate situation and need veterinary oncology.
The best experience for a pet owner, my pet had stitches and they appeared opened after coming home from work. Went to Urgent Care and they wanted to do stitches over again and charge 800$ +!!! I ultimately had them do bare minimum to get me through the night for more options during the day and still cost 300$ for simple antibiotic, VCA said the incision was fine and gave me a cone that Urgent provided for 32$ that wasn’t appropriate for my pet and I walked away with a 7.81$ charge and stitches not necessary because incision was fine and the name of the game was to keep my pet from tampering with incision so the cone they provided was appropriate and they showed me several ways to utilize it if I had any issues! I’m thankful for their service and peace of mind for me and my pet, I could be a spokesperson before this is said and done with the service they provided! So grateful
Worst experience I have ever had at a vets office. They are rude, unprofessional and terrible about communication. Even though my furbaby needs more care, I will never go there again. No wonder they have a terrible reputation. And very expensive too!
VCA will not work with other vet clinics in the area to provide outpatient care. My dog needed an outpatient ultrasound to determine if she had cancer and VCA refused to provide outpatient services with a referral from our general medicine vet. They are trying to create a monopoly in the area and force people to pay their exorbitant prices to re-perform work that has already been done.
My dog had to have surgery on his foot. The staff was so friendly and professional and reassuring. The surgeon explained everything to me clearly. I’m so impressed with the service I have received so far. I live a few hours away from this location. My dog had to stay the night before his surgery and they sent me a text with an update and a picture of him. They called before and after his surgery to let me know how he was doing. Dawn and Dr. Vecchio have been wonderful!
Ive had excellent experiences at VCA in the emergency, neurology, and internal medicine departments. The doctors really care about the animals and they are kind to us pet owners. Ive placed my trust in these doctors skills and I havent been disappointed. Its much appreciated!
Disappointed - not with the care that our dog received, per se, but with the lack of clear communication or direction. Our pup had to stay overnight for fluids and other IV meds. They were recommending IV fluids and meds, bloodwork, ultrasound/mri and an internal medicine specialist consult. We stated that we did not want the internal medicine specialist consult, but to proceed with all other care and testing. They adjusted the invoice, accordingly, and I paid the >$1600 while still on the phone. I received an invoice that was not itemized. The next morning, a very nice doc called us and gave us an update. She stated that our pup seemed to be better, and we asked when we could get her. We were told we could get her that morning. When we arrived, there seemed to be confusion (again, lack of clear communication?) and we were asked if we wanted the catheter (for the IV) to remain in her leg for transport. We didnt know if her primary wanted that, so we called the primary - who was very confused by the request, since they had not yet seen our pup and didnt have enough detailed information from VCA in order to make a good decision. The primary vet called to speak to the doctor at VCA, and was told she would have to wait 4-5 hours to speak to the vet (again, lack of clear communication but also WHAT??). Our primary vet has never seen anything like this before. In the end, they refunded money to me, (possibly because they didnt perform the ultrasound/MRI?).If I could make a couple of recommendations, they would be: 1) Provide an estimated, itemized invoice at the point of payment (not just a total amount). I could have cleared up confusion if I noticed the utrasound/MRI was missing from the itemized list; 2) Please get the receptionists some soft-skills customer training. It didnt feel very good being worried about your pet and having the receptionist keep referring to her as it. For example, they want to know how it is feeling. They want to bring it to their primary. ; 3) Hire more docs/nurses - asking a doctor from another practice to wait 4-5 hours to speak with a doc regarding a patient being transferred is really not acceptable.
We had an emergency this weekend with our 9 year old Italian Greyhound. We were referred there from a 24 hour vet clinic. We are so blessed to have been referred there. They took great care of our little guy. We called every three to four hours, over the course of 48 hours, to check on his status. They gave us a status report and allowed us to ask general questions about his behavior such as if his tail is wagging, or if he appears excited to see a human (he loves people more than other animals), etc.. They even took a couple of photos and listen to our suggestions on how to keep him comfortable (he likes his head covered when he sleeps). Highly recommended if your pet is experiencing a medical emergency.
Don’t trust these people. I took my cat there because of a concern with his urination. The doctor and reception staff were fantastic, but the nurse was an absolute disgrace. She claimed my cat was aggressive which has never been the case with him. I understand he was stressed and scared and may have acted out, but she basically said he was attacking her which is a joke. She used that as an excuse as to why she hurt him to the point of significant blood loss. He’s worse off now than when I brought him in. He’s scared, disoriented, and hurt. When I got home and unwrapped the bandage, I saw THEY HAD LEFT THE CATHETER IN HIS LEG. I honestly can’t believe this level of negligence. I called to ask what to do, and they literally lied to me. Sarah said, “I pulled it out myself.”Pictures attached.
Amazing service,I brought my dog in for problems this last Saturday. They took wonderful care of her and I couldnt be happier with her results. Thank you so much.
Was turned away at the Emergency dept. Called for an Oncology consult over a week ago and never returned my call.
Caring staff worked very well with new covid requirements to keep the pets feeling safe too!
Had a pet emergency and the staff was so friendly and professional. They helped my fur baby and it was 2am! I didnt want her to be in any pain and they had her in and out. Id definitely recommend taking your pets here in case of an emergency. Thanks so much!
My then 1 year old German Shepherd vomited and became extremely lethargic. She was rushed to an ER vet clinic at 4 am where I was informed she had aspiration pneumonia. They began a cool down procedure due to her fever being around 105 and started giving her antibiotics. They let me pick her up the following morning and said the antibiotics would take care of the pneumonia. That night around 8, she started vomiting up blood so I rushed her back to the ER. They said the blood was due to the inflammation in her lungs from the aspiration pneumonia and that it may be normal for her condition, just need to give antibiotics and give her time. Next morning I pick her up and take her back home. About a day goes by and something still feels off about her so I take her to my normal clinic back home. After looking at x-rays doctor thinks she looks worse than she initially did and sends me to VCA. Upon arrival, the ER doctor says she’s the sickest dog currently in the ER. She’s seen by specialist Dr. Hui who finds she has a lung lobe torsion. She’s sent in to surgery with Dr. James to have the lobe removed along with another lobe that is torn. After recuperation she is allowed to come home. Unfortunately I was not able to keep her settled enough during her recovery and she developed a pneumothorax that I had to come back to the clinic for. No other ER clinics would even take her back where I live after I explained her condition. Without a doubt this is the first clinic I would take my animals in an emergency. Rayna went from the sickest dog in the ER back to her rambunctious self. I was told she would have a normal life, but not be an athlete. Rayna definitely thinks otherwise, I have seen no change in her abilities. I’m greatly thankful to all of the staff that had a hand in Rayna’s healing.
Our ongoing experience has been outstanding. Dr. Hui is knowledgeable, kind, and he has spent so much time with us over the last 8 months. From the first day here, I have felt heard. When our cat was hospitalized, the staff never made me feel like a burden for calling to check in or coming down just to visit him. They never rushed us out. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the support staff. When we walk in, they know our cat by name.
Worst place in America I stood in their waiting room for my dog eating medications. They told me to call poison control and hold until they answered.
I had an emergency with my pet, Bernie, and while we ended up losing him, I know the staff did all they could for him. Dr Smith helped is give Bernie the best thing we could at that time and was to end his pain. She was very kind as well as the technician that helped us too. The rest of the staff also helped us quickly and efficiently. They were all so kind. Thank you to all of the staff at VCA AVCC.
This is the worst animal hospital I have ever been. To they tell me my dog needs to be referred to a specialist and they have no problem letting me see their specialist but will not put that o. paper so I can choose my own specialist. Shady!!! I will never bring my dog back here I would drive to another state before I brought my dog back here.
The staff were nice. They do the service very fast and they are respectful.
We are so thankful for the doctors and staff at the VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center. They did our French bulldog’s soft palate resection and neutering back in May. My husband and I were so anxious going into the surgery worrying if we made the right decision to have the soft palate surgery. Dr. James and his staff calmed our worries and were so informative and honest with us about the surgery. The surgery and recovery went great and it has made a huge difference on our boy’s breathing. Today, our pup woke up with an extremely swollen eye. As it’s Sunday and our primary care VCA vet is closed I called VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center. We decided it was wise to bring our boy in to get checked out. They got us a treatment plan in place and he is already so much better. He wasn’t the best patient while examining his eye (Sorry Dr. Browne 😞) but they still took great care if him. I would 💯 percent recommend our primary care VCA vet for routine care as well as this clinic for more complicated issues or emergencies!
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Neglectful!
We had to take our cat here due to some balance issues. We first went to MedVet but since they had no neurologist at the time, they sent us here. There was a bit of a wait but. Thats just per course with this type of service so that is not something I hold against them. They were very kind and very understanding and I felt they went above and beyond and didnt hold back and explained our options in detail. I would easily come here again, if, God forbid, something were to happen.
Dr. Sangster did such an amazing job on my dogs back surgery. He can walk again!!
Our 1 year old Marci swallowed a push pin. We thought we had them up high. We took her to VCA and were given immediate help. Our vet is Dr Lee VCA Sugar Grove and they gave us the referral. Dr Zoltan said they saw it but there was too much food. So they said take her home and see if it Passes. It didn’t do we took her back today and they did another set of X-rays. The needle was in her next feces. So he said it will pass. He also took off a skin tag that we thought but if was a tick. So we love them. Plus back in 2013 our late Maddie had anal gland cancer and the took great care of her. In 2013 Maddie was 13. She lived until 2019 at 15 1/2. She was a pitbull and loved.
Absolutely the worse service. Theyre rude, incompetent and heartless. If you love your fur baby stay away from here.
My experience is with Dr. Sangster, her team, and receptionists. Dr. Sangster saw my cat for some neurological concerns last year and was incredibly attentive, thorough, and answered my many questions very patiently. She discussed all diagnostic options including possible costs with me and helped me decide what was best to do with my budget/available funds while also considering my cats needs and my emotions about the entire situation. Dr. Sangsters team members get back to me reliably whenever I call. Every time I call, the receptionists are so kind and patient.Whats more, all of this has occurred during a pandemic which has been stressful for everyone, especially veterinary staff!Note - Yes, veterinary care is expensive. This is a given and should never, in my opinion, affect the rating or review of a veterinary hospital. Folks should keep in mind that the staff with whom you are interacting are not the ones who decide the cost of procedures and treatments. A good vet will discuss cost of procedures with you beforehand and help you decide. This was the case for my experience with VCA and Dr. Sangster.
You feel that they are sincerely interested in the health of your pets. They take the time to thoroughly explain what theyve done, what they think, what the issues are and how they are handling them. Ive had pets for 50 years, lived in San Francisco where some of the best medical training is and these are the most capable, professional vets I have worked with.
Our 88 lb golden doodle went in for an exploratory surgery of the stomach. Every single person we talked to from the front desk staff to the 2 veterinarians during his 24 hours and the surgeon who performed the surgery, were all very patient and kind to us. Every person answered all our many questions we had, and never once did anyone make us feel bad for being so worried and calling throughout our dogs stay. Every doctor explained all options for our golden doodle and the concerns they had. There was a hiccup with his pain medication during our dogs stay (He ended up getting 6x’s the amount of pain medicine on accident bc the machine never turned off - scary!) but they corrected it and informed us as soon as it happened. I am very please with the professionalism and support we received from everyone at VCA
If I could give less than one star I would. My dog had a horrible experience here.
Not one to right a review. But after taking my puppy to this vet, they said he had something in his stomach and did blood work tests saying everything was fine. They did no such tests and wanted thousands more after telling me the original cost for said tests. Took him to another vet and they did the same tests and they found kidney failure and liver failure along with low platelets. The veterinarian said that if I we had brought him in a littler sooner he might have had the strength to make the surgery but those two days were wasted at this vet clinic where the tests they showed werent real and the x-ray they showed wasnt even my puppy it was a different dog from what the new vet had showed when I showed him the x-rays . Long story short if your dog is Ill dont bring them here they will hold the dog from you for 51 cents after already paying a large amount for tests that werent even done. We payed a bunch of money for my puppy to sit in a cage by himself with no treatment and suffer. Ive learned my mistake to make sure to never come here again. My suggestion go to V.I.P Animal Care on pleasant street where they tell you what wrong and will even show scans to you explain how and whats wrong . Never again.
The staff here is amazing! 7 years ago we rushed our Toby there at 2:00 am. Dr. Brown was the vet that took care of him. Although he did not make it, I will always remember how she worked with us and understood. At that time we had got a new puppy. Boo is a very small mix and has lost almost half her body weight this year. Our vet referred us to take her to the hospital and Dr. Brown was there again. She is very knowledgeable and so empathetic and she loves your pet. And to mention the rest of the staff as well! They are really concerned for you and help in any way they can. It sure makes it a little better leaving you beloved pet with such a great group of professionals. Thank you!
Brought my dog here when we experienced some bleeding and bloated belly. She was taken care of and even during covid- and having to stay in my car the whole time I was updated on every step and felt like they were giving her amazing care. They are so professional and genuinely nice and I am so thankful for them!!
I would never recommend this place to ANYONE. They cost a fortune, which would not be bad if they cared. We had an emergency with our dog getting hit by a car and from the first person we encountered they had no communications. He had surgery and they did not really give us any details of what was done. We were talked down to when they thought we should know to take his boot off when inside., No where on the instructions was that told to us. I gave them the benefit of the doubt too many times. I went back to my regular vet for the bandaging of his leg and it was half the price and my vet cares about my dog,. I hope I never have to have my dog subjected to this place again. We went into debt to take care of our dog and if he would have gotten great care it would have been worth it. I feel like they are just in it for the money.no compassion
My dog went to ER at 5 am on a Saturday with a high fever and lameness. He saw an ER Dr, an internist, and a neurologist that day. I was very impressed that he was able to see two specialists on a Saturday. The internist, Dr. Hui, was very thorough and answered my many questions and has continued to follow up with me over the past 4 weeks of his treatment.
We were so pleased with the care of our Whelping dog and her puppies. It was a sad day when we lost all but one of our pups. They saved our dog and her one little baby so we didnt lose them all. Thank you so much for everything!
Nothing worse than hearing staff talk about you while youre waiting to say goodbye to your pet. Worst veterinarian experience ever.
I am not one to typically write a review, but I am so touched by the care, compassion and communication this veterinary clinic offered for my 4 month old kitten Kiah. Kiah was always a sickly kitten and was not responding to various medications prescribed by my normal vet. We brought her to another emergency vet because she stopped eating, moving and drinking and we wanted a second opinion because she wasnt getting better with my vet. The other emergency vet said she was critical and needed a specialist for a diagnosis, and to be admitted for blood transfusions and fluids in addition to further testing by an internist. We transferred her to VCA and I am amazed by the care she recieved! The vet personally called us with every change in her care or status, and we recieved a phone call from the vet themselves twice daily (at the end of their shift) where each vet waited patiently for my husband to go find me in the house so that we could both be on the call! The first night there we recieved a phone call in the middle of the night informing us that my kitten had a rare blood type that is usually only found in exotic cats and that they were having trouble obtaining blood to give her her first transfusion. They even called Ohio looking for it and they told us the other places they were going to try. The vet themselves personally called back at 330 am to tell me they located it in Fort Wayne and that they were immediately sending a vet Tech to go pick it up. That is hours of driving that we were not charged for in the middle of the night! We were quoted a price for her 2 day hospitalization and paid up front after an initial check and before they admitted her. Yes it cost us an arm and a leg we couldnt afford, and I see people complaining about that. But you have to remember this is a specialized center with specialized equipment that has both vets and techs on staff around the clock. Paying staff to work nights is more costly and the equipment they purchase is no cheaper than the equipment our hospitals use for people, and we all know that our hospital bills are a fortune without insurance. Had she been in my vets office they would have checked on her at closing and closed the door and come back in the morning. Instead my kitten was checked on 24 hours a day. She recieved the care she needed when she needed it, and not just during business hours. Not only that, she had people by her to comfort her rather than being alone and sick in a strange place because the vet closed. This kitten was a gift to me from my husband to help me battle chronic illness, and due to her illness we spent 3 months battling illness together curled up in a chair. She gave me so much love and comfort and although it was more than we could afford we cant put a price tag on all she did for me while battling her own illness! They did get her to perk up with fluids and transfusions, and she did eat a little after the first night, but her ultrasound showed enlarged kidneys and the second night she started having seizures. She was ultimately diagnosed with FIP which they informed us, there is an unapproved fda, ungodly expensive 5K treatment for that can cure some cats, but not those with neurological symptoms. Sadly we had to say goodbye to our sweet Kiah and put her to sleep. They allowed us in to say our goodbyes and gave us all the time we wanted despite coronavirus and the guidelines that pet parents must wait outside. The entire staff was so compassionate throughout the entire stay and the communication from vets themselves meant the whole world to us when we were so worried about our sweet girl! We were also not charged anything additional after the initial quote we paid upon admitting her even tho I know at a minimum she needed medications and extra care for the seizures she developed. I just really cannot thank this place enough. I may have lost my sweet girl in the end but I couldnt have asked for her to be in better hands while she was critically in need!
I feel obligated to write this review after my recent experiences and seeing the rating that I believe doesnt accurately reflect their quality. If I could give 6 stars, I would.A close family-friend took his dog here yesterday due to a severe and sudden illness. Despite the end result not being ideal, we are so thankful for their services. He felt empowered and knowledgeable enough to decide on euthanizing his dog. They were prompt but patient throughout the entire process.Personally, weve had to use the ER here several times over the years, and once in this past month. Although they didnt make it known, I know my cat is a very difficult patient. They still provided thorough and timely care. Theyve been very patient with my many questions, so Ive always left feeling informed and at ease.I worked in a veterinary clinic for a few years and they 100% meet the standards Id expect. Yes, the prices are high, but its absolutely worth the quality and urgency of the care. I could go on and on about the ER and how great it is, but theres only so much space. This place ROCKS and I feel incredibly lucky to have a 24hr hospital like this so close.
Vca doesnt care about animals, they only care about money, and if you dont have the high prices they charge your pets mean nothing to them
Whoever “greeted” me at the door while I was experiencing an emergency with my pet was rude. Instead of asking what was wrong or how she could help she pointed out the fact that I had a box. The box is where I kept my sick and at dying pet. She next asks me what’s wrong with my pet. If I knew that I wouldn’t of been there in the first place. Obviously I didn’t know and I didn’t have the means to treat my animal. Maybe this establishment needs to have more compassionate and capable of deductive reasoning veterinarians.
We took our 9 month old dog here because it was after hours and our vet did not have an answering service. Even though all his shots were up to date, they insisted on a Parco test before he could even go inside the facility. This would not have been that big of deal except the test is $130. So now they call us in the parking lot to confirm that he does not have Parvo and he can now be seen. 45 minutes later they call and say hes been examined and now were in ANOTHER $150. But...without blood work and xrays they cannot tell us anything. So..for another $500 they can do those things! Come on people..you are really going to charge $900 to tell me why my dog is not eating and is lethargic???? Who has that kind of money? So they brought our sick dog back out to us in the parking lot, charged us $260 dollars, gave us absolutely no paperwork, no diagnosis, and no treatment plan. What a joke. Dont waste your money on these money hungry excuses for vets!
This place is top notch all the way! We would like to say a big thank you to all the staff. Our little dog had a serious back injury and they did a fantastic job of helping him. He was in surgery the same day we took him him and now he is well on his way to recovery. They communicated wonderfully through the whole ordeal and were very respectful and nice.
Dr. Rechner was extremely rude. I understand youre the professional, you have the degree. I get it, but you were rude. Wouldnt do the surgery when its MY cat. I know th e consequences. Shes going to die anyhow. I would rather chance the surgery than not do anything. I mean seriously I cant afford the radiation that will prolong her life a couple months for $8000 but would def be willing to pay $4000 to remove the mass. Shes going to die from me not doing anything. It literally makes no sense to why I wouldnt try the surgery even if it is 50 percent morbidity rate. Again Id rather try to save her than have to just wait it out and put my cat down. Ill get someone to do it. Again this lady was super rude. Belittling.
My cat Zeus was missing for two months. He was found and taken to the Humane Society then referred to the ER at VCA. When I finally got to see him, I did not think he was going to make it. The staff here rehabilitated my cat so well, it has only been four days and he is almost already back to normal. The team at VCA is very knowledgeable and made all of the right decisions in a timely manner to help save my cat. I cannot thank them enough.
The staff here are absolutely incredible. I showed up with my cat who unexpectedly turned very ill very quickly, and they were so supportive and understanding with me. I appreciate their willingness to talk me through all of my options and support me regardless of my decision. Thank you all for your kindness on one of the toughest days of my life.
We took our dog to this emergency vet location because he was attacked by another dog. This was around 7pm on Saturday, August 1st. There was a huge gash under his eye and he was bleeding. We arrived, called, checked in and waited while five other dogs, that arrived after us, were taken in before us as soon as they pulled up. During this time, the staff called to talk to us about our dog. It was a confusing conversation because they said they had our dog inside with them. We told them they did not because our dog was in our car at the moment. They had assigned our dog’s name to another dog. They said they would call us back when they could take our dog. 30 minutes passed and nothing, so I called to see what was going on. They said the other dogs were deemed to be in more serious shape. I asked how that could be known when our dog had yet to be seen by anyone there. Someone finally came out to check out our dog. They said it would be at least a two hour wait. We asked if we went home and called in an hour or so to see what the wait would be like then would that be ok. They said okay. We left and in less than 15 minutes we were called and said they were ready for our dog. We were already home, so they said they would have to take another dog and we would have to wait again. The telephone conversation ended and we were not called back. We never said to take us off their list or that we would be going somewhere else. Lucky for us MedVet was able to take us and treat us and our dog well. They deemed the situation an emergency and treated it as such. We even told the staff at the emergency vet location at the beginning of our time in the parking lot that this was really emotional for us because the last time we were there we had to put our dog of 15 years down. We will never use this emergency vet location again and we will never recommend this emergency vet location to anyone.
If you care about your animals DO NOT subject them to the hands of these horrible people. My mothers puppy hurt her leg and we rushed her to VCA, they took the puppy inside without us. We waited an hour for a response while we waited in our vehicle only to be told that our puppy broke her leg. They did not show us an X-ray and refused to give her back to us until we paid $650. They offered to keep her and perform a 6,000.00 surgery. We paid the $650 and took our puppy to our family vet. He informed us after he took an X-ray that the puppy had a minor fracture meaning the bone was not broken! They are scam artists!
Kind, knowledgeable and courteous staff at all levels. This is the first emergency clinic that we have encountered that will allow a payment plan so that expensive procedures are possible if Care Credit is not available. We highly recommend them to anyone needing specialty care for their beloved pets. We received vital information after an MRI that showed why our dear Sophia was having seizures. She passed away and VCR sent a donation in her name to a rescue they support. That meant a lot to us.
This place did a good job in the surgery of my dog’s broken leg. Their surgery quality is well to trust and my dog is healing well now. Their cost is comparably lower than other hospital so it could be a good choice if you are looking for some place to get advanced treatment of your pets.
This place is amazing! The entire team was knowledgeable and caring. Dr. Manor and Dr. James were exceptional in their knowledge, explained everything thoroughly, and were kind and supportive. I could not have asked for better care!
Called, placed on indefinite hold, man came on was please hold again, very indifferent, we went to MedVet handled our needs timely in Xionsviilke
This place is only in it for the money. We had a 7-1/2 year old cat that had never been sick before. We first took him to Pet Wellness Clinic on Binford. We had xrays done and found out he had aspiration pneumonia. He needed to be on oxygen so we went to VCA Advanced Care, after the Binford clinic called ahead and explained our situation. We were only about 10 minutes away. When we got there, they had no idea what we were there for. We couldnt go in so they came out and were asking typical sign in questions. I had to tell them to get our cat into the oxygen tent immediately. After they finally got him settled, they called and said they needed to do xrays, etc, even though we brought all tests and results from the Binford Clinic with us. They said they couldnt read the xrays we brought so they needed to do more. We had already paid a couple of hundred dollars at the Binford Clinic for perfectly good xrays. After their xrays and a few hundred more dollars, they came to the same conclusion as the Binford Clinic. It went even further downhill after that. Each time we called to get an update, we got a different person and a different answer. Some of these calls were within 15 minutes of each other. One would say he was unresponsive. The next call would tell us he was up switching sides and meowing. We couldnt get a straight answer about his condition from anyone. I even called my own vet of 25 years at one point to ask advice. When I suggested what he said, they dismissed it. As the day went on, he got worse, but we didnt know that. He declined rapidly once he was there. Personally, I dont think they watched him close enough. I finally spoke with his doctor at about 6:00 pm. She told me they were waiting for the specialist before they did anything. He had been there since 11:00 am. She was also the one that told me he was responsive. When she told me they wanted to keep him overnight, etc., I specifically asked her costs. I asked her where we were at right then, and how much it would be for the overnight charges. She gave me the figure, and told us to call back at 10:00 pm. We called at 10 and the person told us that he was completely unresponsive and having a lot of trouble breathing. At 10:20, they called and said he died. They told my daughter that he stopped breathing but his heart was still beating, but she wouldnt make it up there in time. We went as fast as we could, but he was dead. Then we were handed a bill that was about $400 more than the doctor quoted, and her quote included an overnight stay which obviously didnt happen. When I questioned the lady about the bill, she said those were new charges. It still didnt make any sense to me. When I asked her why she didnt tell my daughter he was close to death so she could come up there, she said at least they were there. Bottom line.....we dropped off our cat with the thought of treating pneumonia, which is treatable. Our cat is now dead. My daughter didnt get to see her cat before he died, and the poor guy died alone. We will NEVER take any of our animals here again. All they want to do is rack up the bill. No one takes responsibility there. If I could give zero stars, I would.
I would never take any animal here. Im golden had liver shunts and he went to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and they are the best of the best and know about liver shunts. My local vet said I had to take him to an emergency hospital asap because he was anemic for a possible blood transfusion so I did. Dr. Brown said yeah hes in liver failure and has a few days to a week and nothing i was going to do. She pushed and pushed putting him down and pushed more so I walked out and drove 7 hours to Knoxville. Turns out he had a bleeding stomach alcer that was the issue and they got him fixed right up, easy fix! So if I would of know I would of had time to get to Knoxville from the beginning thats were I would of went but my vet told me to get somewhere quick so Fishers was a big mistake. Its a shame that she didnt know what to look for in a liver shunt dog but I hope she does know!
My wife and I had to take our Boston Terrier to Fishers on Sunday Morning at 2:00 AM to be euhanization due to congestive heart failure that had advanced to a point where she was in distressed. The tech was nice and respectful but the way the procedure was implemented has left us with a heartbreaking visual of Jades final time with us. After the initial shoot and a 10 minute wait our girl was still awake, this shoot was to relax her and make her sleep in preparation for the euthanization. Jade now knew something was wrong and was stressing. A second shoot and 5 or so minutes later she was finally asleep. They took her to put an IV in and then return her to us so we could be with her when she passed. Then for her and us it got worse, she was waking up and trying to get away from the situation, heartbreaking! I looked at the tech and told her she was waking up, give her the euthanization shot. She did and out beloved girl passed. The final moments of her life should have been peaceful and they were not.We were told that the vet would send a tech out to the car to administer the med to make Jade relax and sleep BUT thought from then on Jade my wife and i would be seeing vet.WE DO NOT LAY ANY BLAME ON THE TECH.
Our dog had been ill and took a turn for the worse, and we had to end his suffering without much planning. We called in to VCA and from the receptionist to the doctor, we experienced nothing but empathy and kindness. After my dog died, they took him to a room and laid him in a box for us to take home. Later we discovered that THEY EVEN PUT A BANDAID ON HIS IV SITE! We may never even have seen that but it shows their empathy- The smallest things reveal the biggest heart.
0 stars. They don’t care about your pets! They only care about money! Do not take your animals here
I have a 2 1/2 year old Pomeranian who has had continuous health issues throughout his life. At three months old we took him there not knowing what was wrong with him. They tested all sorts of things and discovered he has epilepsy. With the incredible continued help of Dr. Cross we finally have our little pup on the right medication and food diet to control his seizures. Dr. Cross has been in our pups life since he was three months, and continues to be an active part of his health upkeep. Dr. Cross is an incredibly intelligent doctor with your pets best interest at heart. I couldn’t be happier with the help we’ve gotten from Dr. Cross. In a more recent experience at VCA we got to work with Dr. Lewis. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Lewis. She was calming and informative and really caring. She ensured my dog was not under or over treated. She saw my pup on both of his visits there last week and was helpful and reassuring. Since the second visit she even followed up via messenger to ensure that my pup was doing okay and continuing the appropriate treatment. I felt listened to and heard when speaking with Dr. Lewis. I sincerely couldn’t be happier with my experiences there.Taking your pet in is always scary. Emotions are high and things can get to feeling pretty tense. It’s reassuring to know there are individuals like Dr. Cross and Dr. Lewis that can help to put you and your beloved pet at ease in times of trouble.
I was having issues with our 2 yr old border collie last fall and our local vet recommended we take her to a neurologist. Our city doesnt have one so I drove 2 hours to come here to see Dr. Cross. I was not disappointed. He is a top notch doctor who is very knowledgeable and very personable. She ended up having a brain tumor, but I have followed with him from out of town with various emails and questions to follow the treatment plan he prescribed. He is very responsive to emails and has advised me and adjusted her medications accordingly. She is still having issues so I am returning for a follow-up consultation with him. I am willing to drive the 2 hours to get the care that she needs because I know Dr. Cross knows just what to do and she will get the best care from him. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for the best neurologist for their animal.
A little expensive and the front desk staff can be jumbled at times. Some of the emergency care staff also seems overworked or something. Very frantic. However, Dr. Cross in neurology knows what he is doing and is worth the trip if matters are serious enough.
After today I will not recommend. Really needed to get 1 small bottle of eye drops called in to pharmacy for my dog and they refused to do it! They said he had to be seen! I had just came home from my regular VCA vet after paying $330 for yearly shots and exam, there was no way I could get him in right away! Even my doctor will call in meds for me even if Im overdue for a damn exam!! Very, very disappointed! They really care more about money than individuals and their beloved pets, so very sad.
My dog got very sick very fast so I brought him in to VCA, I was informed that he had a herniated disc. Unfortunately I ended up having to euthanize him. It was the single hardest decision Ive ever had to make with a pet, but the staff was so understanding and so supportive, it made a really hard day just a little better. They let me say goodbye, they let me be in the room when they did it so so he didnt have to pass on his own. It was really hard but it would have been that much harder if the staff hadnt been so helpful.
Dr Cross and his team are nothing less than exceptional. After reading some negative reviews on here, I started to question myself if I wanted to take my fur baby there or not. I was scared but my friend that had referred me to them reassured me that they were great! My German Shepherd was needing a hemilaminectomy which is a herniated disc surgery. I went ahead and had Dr Cross perform the surgery and so glad I did. This place is absolutely amazing. They are so thorough with upfront cost (which were very reasonable), detailed information before and after surgery, the doctor calls you personally each day that your baby is there with an update, they even texted me pictures of Bella during her hospital stay. They are so nice and caring. I am so surprised to read such negative reviews when I have experienced the complete opposite. I highly recommend Dr Cross and his team!
Excellent care for my 10 year old dog who arrived in crisis and required hospitalization. Very professional and compassionate.
The professionals here are awesome. I unfortunately lost my best friend of 8 years due to illness, and the staff at VCA was more than professional. My animal had to undergo several tests to find the problem, which became quite expensive. The office staff was more than understanding, and worked with me to resolve my payments. Thank you Lisa and staff for making my loss a little less miserable. I will bring all future animals here
Would not recommend taking your animal here if you are expecting results! We took our sick animal in on Tuesday where they ran tests and took our money, and here we are on Friday night still waiting on results. I have been told multiple times that someone would call me back, but here I am still waiting! They are extremely rude and just said bring your cat back in if you are that concerned. You would think they could spend 10 mins and go over the results so we can get a medication for her, but they just want us to bring her back in so they can get more money. RIDICULOUS!!
Dr Sangster and Shayna were absolutely wonderful when I had to bring my kiddo in for a consultation this past June. Working in the field, and knowing all the possibilities prior, I know I was likely not an “easy client” with all my anxieties, but never once was made to feel a burden. Dr Sangster spent 20 minutes explaining her exam findings, and her recommendations, and coming up with a plan that’d work for us all. This included making a plan to come back on a day that’d fit in an ophthalmologist consult prior to his MRI to make sure we’d checked all possibilities. While I’m extremely grateful for the results being what they were, I’m also extremely appreciative to have been treated so well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Pluto and I are very grateful. ❤️
Poor customer service, misleading, dishonest, unethical. Something hokey is going on at this clinic. There aren’t many 24 hr vet clinics in the area, but avoid this one if possible. My dog was in the ER at this clinic about 2 weeks ago. She got a cut on her paw and needed 3 staples. They prescribed two medications to take over a 10 day period. I followed the instructions given by the vet upon discharge, and after the 10 days of meds my dog began to have diarrhea. Over the weekend, she began bleeding a lot when using the bathroom. She began refusing food and became very lethargic. I called this clinic, because they prescribed the meds and they asked me to bring her in. I was told to call upon arrival, but then received an email for an 11:30 appt time. I was not told that appt times mean nothing and if others showed up before you without an appt, they would be seen first.I arrived at 11:28 and called. The lady I spoke with that morning told me that there was now a 3 hour wait time to get in, so I should call other vets.I explained that I wanted my dog to see their professionals, bc she had just been there for an injury and had gotten the meds that irritated her stomach from them. I said that I would come back at 2:30 to bring her in. The receptionist told me that if I left, I would lose my place. She insisted I wait In the car for 3 hours with my toddler, pregnant bladder and bleeding dog that needs to go every 30-45 min at this point.Thankfully, my dad was able to switch places with me to wait for the 3 hour window.2:30 rolls around and a receptionist comes out to take my dog. She tells my dad it’ll be another 1.5 hrs until my pup can see the vet, but that she will take my dog inside to check in and monitor her until the vet is available. Where are they going to hold my dog toMonitor her and why wasn’t this an option when I arrived for my 11:30 appt time?Meanwhile, the VCA employees continue to talk about all of the triage calls they’re receiving causing a back up. Two cars pulled into the parking lot during the 3 hr wait. Most people were turned away as they tried to do with my pet. This clinic does not care about the long term health and wellness of the animals they treat. They only want to take dramatic cases with a hefty ER bill attached.
I feel I must post this review because of my experience and after sitting in the parking lot for hours with my dog inside during an emergency and I was reading all the terrible reviews and wondering if I took my dog to the right place. Even though the outcome of my dog is not what I wanted, it’s what was best for my dog. I went to this ER with my dog, I was visiting from California and had to leave in two days when my dog suddenly became altered and unable to walk, vomiting, and short of breath. My dog was 14 years old, so she was an old dog and a cancer survivor. I had to put my dog down on July 2nd late in the night, but I did not want my dog to suffer and she was not going to have the quality of life back that she had even if she survived the event, which I don’t believe she would have. When we first arrived they took my dog from me abruptly but it was due to the color of her togue being cyanotic, and needing to put her on oxygen. She was rushed back and then we waited at least 2 hours to hear from the vet clinic. Due to covid it is hard to just wait in a parking lot on your sick animal, but that clinic is doing the best they can to keep the animals safe as well as their owners. Eventually dr. Records called me, asked me to come in and tell her if she was witnessing what I witnessed at home, which she was. I made the hardest decision to put my Lexy down, but it was what was best for her. Dr. Records and the entire staff was so encredibly sympathetic and nice to me and my daughter. They let me and my daughter be with my dog before during and after putting her to sleep. They were so compassionate, the doctor spoke to me like a friend. She was amazing, and so was the staff. They made sure to make a terrible situation as easy as they could given the circumstances. I was glad I took my dog here, and felt their compassion during this difficult time for me.
