We recently decided to change out the carpet and vinyl on our entire first floor. I decided on doing it myself to save some money. Being a newbie at this kind of stuff, I had never installed flooring before. And thus began the many hours of researching styles, materials, prices, watching youtube videos etc. Then a friend told me about SBM. We decided to go check the place out and man is it huge. You could probably spend hours looking at all the different styles and various materials. The folks here were super helpful and took the time to answer all my questions. We ended up pulling the trigger on some SPC flooring from here. The quality is great and at a very affordable price. We actually spent less than we expected. We will definitely be coming back here for materials for our next project. The SPC flooring we chose really transformed our downstairs. Just check out the before and after pics!

This place is giant and full of beautiful building supplies. They are fully stocked with contemporary or traditional styles in doors, tiles, tubs, granites, and more. I just remodeled my fireplace and getting ready to replace my front door. Check out their show room. Love shopping here for ideas and inspirations:-). Where to start? Surplus Building Materials and MACK have become our new best friends. Mack is so personable and understanding of all the needs we have. He is friendly and puts the customer first always. The contractors they use are respectful and nice. They do it all. We had our master bathroom redone completely, master bedroom floored with wood floor, and all of our exterior doors replaced. The iron door offerings are top notch and obviously came out beautifully. Look no further than Surplus Building Materials. Go see Mack. Trust me, you wont be disappointed!

Fast and personable service although the loading crew was a little difficult to understand at times.

Not happy at all. I ordered two bath cabinets. When they showed up with some small damage I tried to get a drawer replaced they blamed it on shipping and Jay the owner cursed at me and hung up. I’be been working with insurance for a month plus now for something that would have been an easy fix.The cabinets have cheap hardware and the hinges destroy the door when opened when adjusted as to not hit the door it sticks out 1/4.there was wood filler in a corner of a front panel not sanded and will make me paint which I did not want to do.Bottem line if you like cheap products,poor customer service,and poor craftsmanship then these are the cabinets your looking for.Internet order and I would highly advise against it.

How can I write 10 Stars? 20 Stars? Adi and his team have gone above and beyond any other service we have received in our home repair/upgrade experience. Weve lived in 10 major markets around the US, and are in our 8th house (repairs in Plano, TX...).He has been exceptional in two repairs/upgrades, and will be back for more on this house.Attention to detail, personal service, honesty, quick responses, quality of product, I cannot give higher praise.If you give lower rating, then you bought the clearance items and got what you paid for. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, I will always come back to Adi and his team at Surplus Building Material in Farmers Branch.Simply the BEST. (He really answers texts! even on his day off!) I bought a new kitchen, including installation of the kitchen.Kitchen Installer did a mistake with installing the corner cabinet he should open it as was 100% explain by the surplus representative in order to support the corner sink.The installer didnt do what needed, when I called Surplus to help with solving the problem. They were not nice, actually was very aggressive on me saying that the installer is not there responsibility and they sold good cabinet, I need to deal with the installer myself.I bought the full service from them, they recommend on the installer and they said the installer know what to do based to the diagram they provide.Very disappointing service.I will NOT recommend work with a provided that sending installer and dont stand behind their service.I’m now contacting the installer to see if and when he can come fix the problem.Will update with progress.

This is an interesting place. There are 2 types of places here in one location.You are pretty much self-serve in the builder surplus area and you should have an idea if what you are trying to accomplish. There are people to answer questions but no one follows you around trying sell you anything. Relaxed atmosphere. Truly a warehouse look and feel. Bring your own tape measure and a rag to wipe your hands because some of the materials are dusty.They do have a design showroom if you need designer help and here they have sales people and top grade factory direct materials in there. Lots of samples and mockups to view.They also have an install group to come out and measure and perform certain types of installations. For the things they dont install they offer referrals.I have not purchased anything here but have made some selections and checked their pricing against other places and they seem competitive on the materials.

Staff very helpful AT Surplus Building. I needed a lot of flooring quickly. On a Saturday! They went above and beyond to get me what I needed. I had to go back in at one store and get 35 boxes and an employee followed me to my truck to help me load it. I normally shop at the other place. From now on I will get my flooring from Home Depot!

Good quality cabinets and vanities. I hadnt realized the also do installations of showers, cabinets, and countertops!

I bought some bath vanities for my master bath. Great prices and quality products. I would of gave five stars but it took four weeks to get them in. Luckily I ordered them ahead of when I needed them, so this was really not an issue.

I was so excited when I received this door, the disappointment was pending however. The door comes with protection on the panes so you can paint it and since our renovation took 2 months to complete we recently painted the doors and took off the protection. We found that the pre-hung doors were manufactured incorrectly. One door has the film side facing out and the other door has the shiny glass side facing out. After a few emails with customer service, I was informed that since 2 months passed, they would not send another door. I only wanted one side by the way. They offered a small credit (compared to the door cost), which will not even cover the film guy that I will have to hire to fix. So, my lesson for the day is to not buy from them again and the lesson in this review is to take off the protection immediatly after receiving your door to make sure its correct.

I love the selection and prices but the customer service is terrible. I had to call and follow up on my door after waiting several days longer then I was told. Then when I went to pick it up it was the wrong door. I again had to wait and follow up, I was never called back when I was promised then when the door was finally ready it took over 30 min for them to find it.

It took a while but I was able to pick up the 4 orders I wanted. Surplus Building Materials from the notice from all 3 to the man putting the orders in the back. Nice Job.

I have yet to receive my order, so I cannot comment on the product. I am from out of state so I placed an order over the phone and email. Jared was very helpful. He got back to me promptly with answers and updates. Jay, the store manager, on the other hand, was the opposite. Very poor customer service in my opinion. Jay sent me the invoice for my order while Jared was out for the day. I paid, received no acknowledgment of the order being placed, so I emailed Jay back asking for an update. His response was to say he was not my salesman and that he was blocking my email address from any future correspondence. Does he make a habit not helping and of blocking customers’ email addresses? I don’t understand how a store manager can do such a thing in a sales business. That’s a great way to ensure customers don’t return. Long story short, Jared was great, Jay was terrible, not sure of the product yet as I have not received it. Fingers are crossed.

We bought a couple of pantry cabinets online then went and picked them up. One of the cabinets has a half in gap between the doors. All of the shelves that they gave us for both the cabinets do not fit them. Update: They are switching out the cabinet with a gap. They are switching out the shelves.

The experience with surplus cabinets couldnt have been worse. Be prepared to have your cabinets be off by up to 1 inch than what you order, and then be told youll have to pay to have the cabinet shipped back to the store, (300 dollars) in order to get a refund, because thats what you should expect when ordering cabinets, despite it saying nowhere on the website to expect that amount of tolerance. Additionally, after speaking to the manager, Jay, I was told when asking what hed do in this solution that hed cut the cabinet down to the size they had listed and was told, bc, wait for it... hes a man. All the while him calling me, sir. What a WONDERFUL customer service department you have there! Southern hospitality st its finest!

Hats off to these guys. I needed an unfinished plain oak 9 wide base kitchen cabinet to match my existing cabinets and I could not get one off the shelf or on-line from Home Depot or Lowes. I called Surplus Building materials to confirm inventory, ordered it, and I had the new cabinet in 3 days - and I live in Denver. Then, I decided to replace my 30 upper kitchen cabinets with 42. Again, I could not find them for quick availability or quick ship anywhere in Denver. I ordered 8 cabinets and 2 side panels on a Thursday, and I had them delivered to my my home in the Denver metro area the following Wednesday - less than 1 week - I just noticed they shipped them air! Good job to the whole crew at Surplus Building Materials - your customer service is great. Thank you for helping me get this done by Christmas.

We got iron doors, cabinet hardware, and tile from Ron and Mo at Surplus Building Materials. Great experience. Big store. Lots of options for tile, doors, and much more. I have visited their store many times when I have been in Dallas on business. When it came time to get some items for the house we are building, I called them to order. Since we live out of state, we had all the products shipped to us. I was a little concerned about the 6080 and 3068 iron doors (and frames) making the trip undamaged, but my fears were for nothing. Everything was packaged perfectly and all the products were very secure. The shipment arrived intact and in perfect condition.

Last month I hired this company to update my salon in Plano they did my tile, doors, and cabinets. Surplus Building Materials did a excellent job on these projects. Customer Service was vary helpful in every step of the way. Nice Job!!!I will come back definitely.Thank you guys

Low quality and limited inventory of flooring. Zero hardwood flooring. I was disappointed.

Ordered some stone tile online from SBMTX to complete a project. After a week went by with no tracking I sent an email which was not replied to. After another 10 days I called and was shuffled through 3 different people, the last of with told me they canceled my order due to no availability the day after it was ordered. Wasted weeks waiting for my order to show up. I would not recommend ordering anything from them.

We ordered a drawer unit on August 12, it finally came in September 7, my husband went to pick it up today, September 10, and they sold our (already paid for!) unit the day it came in. Completely unprofessional and seemingly unorganized. There aren’t anymore units in stock, and after waiting nearly a month for the first order to come in, we asked for a refund and will be taking our business elsewhere.

Just got around to writing reviews, but I purchased unfinished cabinets and a few other things from Surplus Building Materials and had a pleasant experience. I just did a small update in my home and needed these items. I will say they do have the cheapest unfinished cabinets around Dallas, Tx. I looked around everywhere and they were the ones that came out cheapest. Customer service was good and people were friendly. I will have to come back when I have more updating to do.

Great company! I bought a door from them and my salesman Adi was there for me every step of the way. He sent me pictures of all the options and answered all my questions before I ordered all the way to after. Just recently I contacted him to let him know how much we loved the door but we needed some touch up paint. Adi sent me the paint the next day! I will definitely do business with them again. Ive built out 2 bathrooms in my house using this place. Id recommend stopping by to look a their tile selection and compare it to the competitions tile. Like I said, I chose this place twice over when comparing with Floor & Decor and others.

They have some great deals on nice products and Fernando gives our company fantastic service! He is probably the reason we (my Design partner, Julie Miller) and I use them...Fernando helps us find what we need quickly & efficiently or sources it for us. If a mistake is made, they fix it, no problem! They are a pleasure to do business with!

Employees are easy to deal with. Good selection of tile at amazing prices. It was hard to make a decision but I finally picked one and took it home. 1/3 the price of full retail on the tile I chose.

SBMTX takes great care of their customers. I recently bought a loft and bought all my building materials through them. They installed my quartz countertop (waterfall, beautiful stuff), kitchen backsplash (SMBTX has unbeatable prices), porcelain tile, stone wall for the fireplace. Looks beautiful after everything was installed and I cant complain. Never was more impressed with any materials than them. Long story short, they take care of their customers and make you feel valued. I recommend all my friends and clients that flip houses or renovate buildings to go through them for any building materials and surplus related items! Thanks again!

Great prices on floor tiles, hardwood flooring, and doors. Best prices I have seen so far!!! Lighting ok easy to find flooring materials just really heavy, take help.

We bought over $600 worth of flooring and tried to pay for it with a credit. Was told card did not go through because their card machine must be broken. We then paid with check, and at the end of the month discovered both check and credit card were charged for the flooring. We took both statements showing the double payments, but were told they couldnt find any record of receiving both payments. Even though we had documents showing they received them, they would not reimburse us. Told us we needed to get it back from our credit card company. Im remodeling a house was going to give them quite a bit of business, but never again.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Singularly the worst customer service experience I have had in home improvement. Terribly rude. We dealt with Jay the GM and Fernando in sales. (I clarified to confirm). Fernando knew when we would be there and told us he was pulling the bathtub for us. We called 30 mins out to confirm after driving for an hour and the general manager told us his sales person had lied and they couldn’t help us. He wouldn’t let us pick up the tub @ 6:50 pm when they close @ 7:00. Despite telling them when we would be there and what we wanted. Incredibly disappointed. Terribly service. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
