Had an order to pick up in Wisconsin on a Friday and deliver to KC the following Friday by five ( thought this was a pretty achievable time). Got a call Friday afternoon that my load was sitting in Omaha and would be delivered four days later than requested. No reason given, ended up having to pay a hot shot driver to finish bringing the load down so product could be used that Saturday. Ups and FedEx both had two day shipping for the same price and I made a mistake by going with Magnum. Will not be using Magnum again.
They are helpful but you cant get a hold of anyone after hours when you need to talk to someone
Luv Magnum. Good company to work for. Just strive to be on time and youll be a happy camper.
I worked for Magnum for 2 yrs as a reefer OTR driver. There are different divisions, so maybe the delivery driver division & warehouse division is not as good as the OTR Drivers. I have no complaints, they gave me good miles, got me home every time on time. I got to bring my dog, the equipment is in top shape. Some your looking for a good company to drive for, I would recommend them. As far as the warehouse division delivering packages to your house, thats a different story.
I ordered 6 9.00 X20 tires through simple tire and they were going to be 6 days late so I had cancelled my order and contacted the courier that originally had the tires and Magnum had them on their truck. The courier spoke to Magnum and said they were going to a range a time to drop them off with me. I said if they brought them that day I would take them but it was going to be another 3 days and it showed that the tires were to be returned to sender so I said send them back. I left my home for 1 HR and came back to 6 tires stacked directly in front of my garage. I called magnum and the dispatcher from Fargo was very rude and argumentative when I demanded the driver come back and get the tires.
Awesome company. Treat you like family. Great equipment, great miles, great pay, great home time.
These people screwed me on a $3200 load. Do not book loads with these crooks.
Stay away. Horrible company.
Waiting on a dock and their.driver is getting unloaded. Which took 45 minutes. He gets his paperwork continues to sit in his truck doing his paperwork then he gets out opens his hood to check fluids. When asked if he could pull out of the dock he gets rude. Seems that their drivers think the world revolves around them. Not impressive!
Wont bring truck with a lift gate as requested with each shipment.
They lose product frequently and then deny every freight claim. I hate when suppliers use Magnum.
Great place to work for.
Im currently employed here. The biggest complaint I have is COMMUNICATION.They enjoy telling you that, Here at Magnum the key to success is communication. And yet there are literally driver managers along with dispatchers who refuse to answer their phone. Theyll tell you, they prefer text messaging. Yes you read that right. And while not all driver managers & dispatchers are like those mentioned above, there are some really good ones here. Theyll keep you moving, pre-planned and maximize your productivity. Insuring your gonna make money. So if your an experienced driver, known to keep the left door closed and perfers to stay productive, stays out for extended periods and plans hometime modestly, runs an efficient recap then you might ask yourself if here is a good fit.Safety personnel are available and more than willing to help. The tractor & trailer shop & maintenance personnel are easy to work with and insure the equipment is safe and well maintained. Tractor PMs are scheduled and down time due to maintenance is minimal. Compensation is available for lost time, just ask.As for the after-hours service, I can honestly say its gotten better. They rotate personnel on this responsibility.Personally, I average good miles and make good money here. I maintain a hazardous waste endorsement as well to maximize my earning potential. I work to achieve the best monthly bonuses each and every month. Which I might add are very achievable. What I dont do is refuse loads, refuse to drive in high stress areas i.e. Chicago and back away when I feel strongly on an issue. Im here to make money and when I cant or the politics become to much, I know to have another job lined up well before I leave. Document everything and use the free call recorder apps available for download. Use the ELD to communicate and take screen shots of the important messages to protect yourself and your DAC. For the most part the environment here is fair & honest, its the after here that your protecting if and when you have to.
I work for magnum and just started. They are an amazing company and I cannot believe some of the reviews on here. The things people are saying here are absolutely not true and they respect and care about their drivers. Magnum is a swell company and Im very glad I joined them.
Unreliable brokers. they will book you and then cancel on you..
Great company to work for! Dispatchers and management are easy to get along with. We are human though, and we do have our days... 😎
Stay Away is correct, dispatchers that lie through there teeth, they will trash your DAC report if you quit is right, its a lot of drama with them, there are much better companies to work for. I would not recommend them, Im a ex driver of that worthless company.
We have been waiting almost 2 WEEKS for Our Delivery.Magnum Driver...Couldnt figure out how to back the truck up another 20 feet..said he would need to.put our SINGLE PALLET On a Smaller Truck..That was 10 days AGO.It was DUE the Week Prior.Seriously.Hope our distributor NEVER USES THIS COMPANY AGAIN.A Joke.
Ive been driving here (LTD/OTR) for about 3 years. They keep me busy. The key is how youre taken care of when things go downhill, as life happens. This company will look out for you. Theyre always looking for ways to improve. Drivers are treated with great respect here. Im proud to work here.
Biased. I am employee. Ive been with them for 3 years. Yes there can be downsides. All jobs have them. In my opinion though, I am very happy here. I dont have the stress a Werner, Swift or Prime driver has. No insult meant. No NY or New England. No Cali. Im in a 19 I got with 36 miles on it. I put on 133,000 miles in a year. I dont see how people arent making money here. Like all jobs it is what you make it.
I had an unusually large pallet delivery. The Magnum staff helped me plan and coordinate the safest way to get it unloaded and in place. This was exceptionally helpful. I would definitely use Magnum again.
Magnum serves as the local connections for YRC who I had contracted with for a crate shipping from Wilton ND to CA. A storm delayed the first days pickup and when they called on the following day it was 3 hours later than specified (warehouse was closed) so the pickup was rescheduled for the following Monday. The Monday pickup was not completed as the crate was too large for the Tommy Lift and a full size truck picked up the crate on Tuesday. No communication or pro number was provided. Today, 9 days after the botched pickup, the YRC terminal manager called and informed me the crate was still on the dock in Fargo (it had only moved 200 miles in 9 days) whereas it was already supposed to be delivered in CA. Where was the crate for nine days is unknown but I will never forgive Magnum for the lack of progress or notification of a problem. Maybe YRC will make it right but if not, they will also receive a strongly worded negative review. The crate size is exactly as specified but the Magnum and YRC trucks use roll up doors so clearance is not as large as those with swing doors. I recently loaded 5 crates of the same size in a 53’ van with swinging doors so I know it can be done.
Great place to work I work the LTD division OTR dispatch team they now have is great its like a family atmosphere no problem getting home time All the equipments really good they run Petes 579 All refers Thermo King a few carriers Magnum does not Sugar coat anything they tell it like it is I have worked here 3 years and I dont plan on going anywhere I believe I found a home
While this company is ok, they do have some very weak points. There communication skills are like that of the big companies like Swift, Werner etc. You have to deal with multiple people for different regions so a driver manager means nothing here. Plus there are a handful of driver managers who have well over 50 drivers per manager. This definitely makes you a number. Your next load half the time comes at the end of there day then they complain to you about declining. They will make an excuse like oh our loads don’t come till the end of the day...ya that’s pure crap because they are scheduled all throughout the day. Biggest no no....they have over 900 driver and no joke 1 person for payroll and 1 back up, not only that they pay weekly but your paycheck is still deferred from a week or 2 prior. There excuse is they hope to get it to the normal time soon. They do pay well and have a decent bonus system plus they have APUs and inverters (but there the crappy cheap ones so plan on everything not working correctly). Now while they may have Peterbilt I will warn you if you do end up with a used one, be prepared for a nightmare of problems and some seriously stupid hillbilly rigging. Wires everywhere and lights coming on all the time. This company while ok to drive for at time, really needs to do a head check and purge if possible. Oh and there are a few people in the office that hate doing there job and will not do much to help you especially on the weekends so you can call after hours but it’s always the same thing “well it’s the weekend so we can’t do much till Monday.” Why even have afterhours if they can’t help. Sure they say might need them for a lumper but even then, they clearly hate you for calling them on the weekend. Also i was randomly pulled into a weigh station in KY only to find out the company has some seriously high points with DOT an is close to being “put out of service” for there multiple issues.Be cautious when choosing this company. You might get work as long as you kiss some serious butt but it does come at a huge price.
Great company apart from sitting days at a time. Very poor dispatching . No respect for drivers.Wait till you leave. They will find everything possible to trash your DAC report. Even lieDont do it ! There are much better companys out there
I am glad I didnt read these reviews before I filled out there there pre-qualification form on their website.. as you know most legit trucking companies have very long and detailed online applications..so i called and spoke with a recruiter in the Fargo office. He was out of office.. I left Tony Doll a voicemail and he called me just like 2 hours later this is 5 days ago? We have talked on the phone at least once a day..and emailed back and forth most of them days.... my favorite about the recruiter Tony was his ability to make me feel that I was going to be ok and no matter what he answered his phone or called me back within a small window.. so if hAve a cdl commercial drivers license BUT dont have any veryfiable miles. Some people like me dont have any verifyable miles since I worked for 2 different farmers since i got my actual cdl lincense. About 18 mom ago
This company will lie through their teeth to get you into a truck and if you dont drive out your clocks every day they will fire you without warning. Dont expect a bus ticket home either.
Booked the load never got the delivery appointment scheduled per receiver while broker sold me FCFS 8 am - 3 pm, broker went MIA after I tried contacting them, not replaying to my emails or phone calls, STAY AWAY, this company not worth your time, dealt with Heather over there.
They have they own certain drivers that get long mile loads, answer the phone when they want, they seem like they racist to me....
Stay away! First load with them was TONU, 2nd load with them was canceled because they said they can’t pay that much after they sent the rate confirmation with agreed rate.
If you want your stuff, dont use them! We didnt have a choice, set up delivery between 3 and 5pm yesterday, no show, waited til 7pm. We had called the company prior to their closing about when it would arrive and they basically told us that we hope it gets there soon, sometime tonight?!? You literally have no idea and cant call and get a location on it? What kind of logistics company is this??
One of their drivers on the interstate was driving recklessly. i tried to merge onto the interstate and he refused to let me in, almost causing an accident with the other cars behind me trying to merge. I pulled up next to him to give him the finger and he gave it right back, while laughing and slapping his steering wheel. This is the third driver of this company Ive seen refusing to let people merge onto the interstate. 10/10 would not recommend..
Oddballs werk here.
Nothing bad about Magnum.
Magnum is the best!
Love it
