I got a haircut here one time. I wanted to use the services again and I had the same experience as other customers. I called in the morning, no one answer. I left a message. No one called me back. I decided to drive there and the lady was nice, but she did not have the ability to make appointments for other stylists. How odd is this?! She made me feel like she wanted to get rid of me as well. I tried to see what she had opened to get a haircut and highlights throughout the week, and she eventually said Ill be gone all July and I cant book appointments for other stylists in the salon. This is not the way to manage a business. Customer service is not there and professionalism is lost if you play mind games with potential customers to provide services. The one time service I received was good, but it feels like a bait and swtich since everything else that involves customer service is not there at all. It should not be this difficult to get an appointment nor a walk in if thats what they advertise.

The workers enjoy their work and very friendly.

Opens at 9. Phone busy till ten then they’re all booked up. Walk in at 10 they’re already booked up with no one there. How’s it always is. Place sucks. Couple employees are very nice. You think if a place of business was always booked you would hire more.

Really good, she was able to get me in short notice, the price was a bit higher then I’m used to.But the hair cut was fast and it came out looking really good.I’ll go back to her the next time I need a cut, my advice for the future though is to make an appointment a few days in advance.

Had a great experience! Called the morning I wanted to get in, got an appointment, and Ashley did a fantastic job, especially considering what she had to work with. They are, however, cheap for a reason- blow drying is not included in a basic cut and shampoo, you have to upgrade to a “basic style” for that, which comes with an extra $10 charge for hair longer than the shoulders. That being said, if you’re looking for a cheap, quality cut, you’ve found the place.

So for being inside Walmart these ladies do an amazing job. And the price is so affordable, its like down in the lower 48. So be sure to tip big and come early, they book up fast!

Ive had my hair cut once by the Alaskan lady. Ive been out of state and need an appointment as soon as I can get one. Any day after 5pmThanks I really got the exact cut I showed her.

If you want them to cut your hair you have to walk in the doors exactly when they open. I called yesterday and they told me to call at 10 today. I called at 10:02 and no one picked up the phone as it rang for almost 6 minutes. Called back almost a dozen times and finally got someone to answer but they told me they were booked for today (this was at 10:18). Refused to let me make an appointment for the next day. I dont know why its so difficult to get a haircut here. At least 5 other people had better luck than me because they decided to walk into Walmart at exactly 10am on a Saturday. Im glad no one told them to call or they would be in the same boat. The one time I did go in earlier this year, they cut my hair with a big shelf on the back that was supposed to be a gradual fade of layers. I guess its a good thing they are too difficult and wont work with people when they tell them to do something. Cheap, but would NOT recommend.

I love the lady who did my hair last time I was here.. but like the other reviews say. You cant do walk ins. They get booked fast and they cant seem to answer the phone....

My stylist was Nancy and she knew exactly what to do with my hair and she was very sweet. The other stylist were very nice as well.

Staff are super friendly and get back to my needs in a timely manner :) I have never had a bad cut through them. Ashley has done my past several cuts and she has always done a fantastic job. All in all, pretty happy customer.

Hairstylists ASHLEY is fantastic! She always exercises patience with me. Everytime I express my desire for a new hair style, cut, highlights...she always delivers. I have never met such a positive and professional hairdresser (Ashley) who is also a manager complain. Ashley does so much and still manages to keep her clients happy. Attention corporate: I come from CALIFORNIA...know living in Fairbanks, Alaska and your employee is a gem. She is such a dedicated, hard working and talented employee. Please, take good care of her. She does a superb job of representing your company.

Terrible terrible service! Everytime I try to walk in they are booked up but they have a walk in policy. They say to call and make an appointment beacuse its easier but its a lie too. Ive called now since they opened at 9am 15 times! No one will answer my call

This place says no appointments needed yet everytime I try to get one they are booked up. Either change your policy or honor the walk ins. This is super inconvenient for those of us visiting and are familiar with this company in any other state!

Difficult to get in because theyre understaffed and only take same-day appointments (which is why I took a star off). But the prices are really low and the stylists do really good work. So for the price range their service is superior.

Theyre either not open when the sign says they should be, or they say theyre booked for the day. 6 times Ive tried. Usually one person working, one customer and no one waiting. Huh???

Friendly, affordable haircuts. Appointment almost required, they take salons if they arent booked up.

Spoke to Ashley on the phone for less than one minute. She told me to give her a time and she would see if it was available. So I said ok let me ask my husband, who was sitting next to me, and her response was ok Im going to get back to cutting hair. That was highly unprofessional, the phone call was less than 1 minute and would have still been less than 1 minute because my husband heard me say let me ask my husband and was already giving me a time. I have never been to smartstyle hair salon and, because of that phone conversation, never will. Considering the laughing and joking going on when you answered the phone for the first 20+ seconds before you actually said thank you for calling smartstyle, I would say a less than 1 minute phone call with me wouldnt have hurt you whatsoever.

They are okay, but made my hair shorter than asked for because they were distracted by the phone.
