The serviceman was able to get us in without an appointment. He was very quick at his job. I think his name was Jim. He fixed it and there is no more rattle. Thank you very much.

Leon’s is awesome! My oil change went super quick, in and out in about an hour, and well priced too! Unlike most mechanics, they don’t try to rope you into unnecessary repairs or scare you into repairs you don’t need (which, as a lot of women will agree, happens more often than not). I purchased my car from Leon’s about two years ago, and it hasn’t failed me yet! Leon’s is an awesome auto shop, plus they have free homemade cookies! Staff is wonderful and courteous, and sitting in Leon’s really makes you feel at home.

This was my first time patronizing Leon’s. I came because my previous auto shop, Honest Engine, closed, and Leon’s was highly rated in the Northcoast Journal’s annual Best of Humboldt competition. Both the counter person (I’m sorry that I don’t remember her name) and Thomas, the tech who worked on my car, were personable, respectful and communicative. The work was completed timely and well. I’ll be back!

Leon’s Auto Care was my choice for a tire rotation. The mechanic had the job completed, including replacing a burned out running light very quickly. I paid the charges and on the drive out I noticed that the whole service only took 28 minutes to complete!

The short:Clean shop, friendly knowledgeable staff and fast service.The long:Aside from a small mix up regarding service delivery, which nearly left me stranded at work, everything was great.Cost is a bit higher than other shops but being a local, family run business and seeing the service they provide, I am more than happy to pay a bit more and get more out of it.

Leons has absolutely the best customer service. Their number one priority is customer satisfaction and they can fix anything. So lucky to have them in town.

My family and I were passing through Eurkea, road tripping from Colorado. Our van started leaking gas when filling up. Yikes! Called around town and everyone was booked out two weeks, including Leon’s. Unlike the other shops they said “we’ll find a way to squeeze you in tomorrow.” Van was fixed by noon for a reasonable price and we’re back on the road. Some other shops would try to do a lot more than just replace a hose knowing I’m a bind. Gotta appreciate an honest mechanic.

Not the best place for service...too bad Humboldt is so limited. Okay service and installation, but nothing special or above and beyond here. Actually, I almost walked away when Jim started to throw the pieces of my new magna flow exhaust and muffler on the ground like it was garbage, even put a dent in the end of the tail pipe and made a comment that my car looked dirty. I just picked up my Cadillac from 2 years in storage since I was living in another Country...even explained that to Jim who gave me a weird smirk...not cool.

So far Im not impressed. When I got my diagnostic back it didnt even address part of the reason my jeep was there also I couldnt see my service plan or pricing.

Took my 1995 ford van to Leons and they were able to fit me in the day before Christmas, luckily there was a cancelation. They did a diagnostic on my van after it was over heating in front of there shop, and didnt end up charging me for the work! Even though I didnt end up fixing the van. I would definitely go back and refer them to a friend. Great friendly service when I really needed it.

Do not trust these guys to honor their warranty and make sure to get a second opinion on their estimates!My truck developed a very noisy rattling sound in the steering column this summer and and I remembered that Leons had just worked on that area the year prior. So I had them check it out as I was still under warranty. But when Mike looked at it he claimed everything was fine and the sound must be coming from under the dash somewhere. So I took my truck back home and drove it for another month during which time the noise was really starting to drive me crazy. I went through my old bills and discovered that it had been the steering column bearing that had caused a similar sound the year before so I went back to Mike and again he told me that everything is fine with the steering column and the bearing is nice and tight. He even went so far as to say that hell replace it if I really wanted to but since it probably wont do anything Ill most likely end up paying for it.After another month of driving my noisy truck I finally went on YouTube and found a video that showed me how to check my steering column myself. It was really easy, I didnt have to take anything apart, just reach under there and see if the bearing makes a sound if I shake it. Sure enough everything was loose and made a loud rattling sound!I had to confront the shop foreman with this to finally have those guys honor their warranty and replace the bearing. If I hadnt looked it up myself I would probably still be driving around with a rattling truck. After they were done no one so much as said sorry to me or anything, however they did give me an estimate on what else they think needed to be done on my vehicle.Since Im done trusting this place I went over to Les Schwab (not exactly a place that tries to give you the best deals) and had them look at what they thought needed to be fixed. I posted a picture of the two estimates its really worth looking at. Not only is Leons estimate FOUR TIMES higher, they are also trying to take a 50% markup on such things as the alignment etc. Also please note that this estimate was made during the same thorough and professional checkup that failed to find my rattle which took me 2 minutes on YouTube to diagnose.Avoid this place if you have any choice at all...UPDATE:I just read Dales response to my post and just wanted to thank him for his heartfelt reply. I think its really great when business owners make the effort to answer their customers criticism. I just have a few things to add...First off I just called Gosselins and had them quote me an alignment over the phone. They said my type of vehicle would be 59$ to 99$ max, regardless of spot-welded spacers. I was also informed that they would never increase the price after I signed an estimate no matter what difficulties they ran into.I did also feel like it was sort of implied in Dales response that my trucks rattling noise was hard to spot, but luckily I took a video of it before it was fixed. My new mechanic tells me that for the bearing to have this much play the issue must have been going on for a long time and should have been easy to spot. But by all means dont take his word for it. I am unable to post a link on this review but if youre really interested just search for it on YouTube under Leons elusive 2006 Silverado Rattle. I sincerely encourage anyone reading this review to show that video to your local mechanic and ask him/her what they think of an outfit where the three top guys fail to find an issue like this. Twice.

On our travel through the western US our front wheel bearings went out and thankfully we noticed a problem as we were driving by Leon’s Car Care Center. With zero knowledge of the area they worked us in with no prior appointment and I know they were busy with lots to do. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and kept us informed, very professional. So appreciative of this place for getting us back on the road and after driving 10,000 miles on this trip we made it safely back home in Mississippi. Thank You

Excellent and a half. I wish I could give them more than five stars. They are honest, and really care about their customers. I am a very timid and shy person and they made me feel extremely comfortable and taken care of when I had to drop my car off for several days. I recommended them to many of my friends and would recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a great mechanic and fantastic customer service.

Called and got an appointment in a timely fashion, answered all my questions, waiting area was clean, preformed what they promised, completed the job in a reasonable amount of time, explained what they did in a professional way, easy to work with. I would do business with them again.

We were towed into Leon’s on Dec 4th, after hours, after we had hit a deer. Being from Canada, we didn’t know the area and trusted Chris, the tow driver from Buddy’s in Arcata. We cannot say enough of the way the folks, from reception (Dina and Carrie) to Shop Foreman David, to Technician Jim, did to help us through a very difficult situation. It took 3 weeks for the mechanical on our beloved 15 yr old Class A to be completed and back on the road. Any delays being attributed to the age of the RV and finding parts, dealing with indecision from a Canadian insurance company and the fact that Eureka is behind the Redwood Curtain 😉. We left feeling like part of the family. Most heartily would recommend them to anyone in the area needing service!

My daughter-in-law took her Honda CRV in for some work and was told that the Drive belts were worn and needed replacing. She trusted them to the tune of well over $200. Turns out they were changed 6 months ago by a reputable firm. Drive belts late 5-8 years for me. NONE should only last 6 months even under severe conditions. They tried to convince her that several other things needed to be done, like timing belt. There was a sticker under the hood that showed the timing belt having been done within the last 10K miles. The sticker is no longer there. Did they remove it? Why should she trust them to do any more needed work

I have been taking vehicles to Leons for over 10 years, and the service is excellent! The mechanics who change your oil love cars (and working on them!) and always provide a lot of information about what is good and not-so-good about my vehicles. I never feel like they are only doing this to sell me services; it always feels like genuine friendly advice from an expert. When servicing the vehicles, they always top off fluids and give everything a once-over. They really go the extra mile to keep you rolling safely. You can pay a little less for an oil change elsewhere, but you miss out on a lot. Easily one of the best auto service places Ive experienced. Plus, cookies!

I came here to get an oil change and looked on their website and saw that they had a really good deal on a “spring care package”. Dina (the front desk lady) was extremely helpful and nice and so were the mechanics I talked to. I liked that everyone else that were getting their cars worked on got to go and actually see what was wrong with their cars instead of some places I’ve gone that tried to up sell me and say I needed to do many more things then I actually needed. This is the only place I’ll be taking my car now to get serviced and oil changes. And I didn’t even have to schedule my appointment ahead of time they were able to take me within the hour. For knowledgable technicians and friendly service that provides a personal small town flavor I highly recommend Leons. First off, they have been in business for years and have grown and grown for a reason. Best affordable service in town. I have been bringing my vehicles here for several years and it wasnt but a few times and they remembered me and called me by name. These days that type of service is rare. I can attest to their service and parts guarantee as they have repeated work for me previously performed at no additional charge under their warranty. They really take their time with diagnostics to get to the root of the problem. They have specialists for each area of vehicle service so they are very refined at examining specific issues. They will tell you what is out of the normal and how imperative it is for safe operation. Waiting room is spacious and clean with fresh coffee and home baked cookies! The shop rates may be a little higher than other folks and all I have to say is that you get what you pay for. They also extend a small discount for AAA members. The staff here have gone well above and beyond the normal call of duty for me when I was having specific issues and was leaving town they got me in the garage in a pinch and saw to completion all my issues with diligence and haste. Over the years, they have done a lot of work and a lot of different vehicles I have owned. They also provide local shuttle service.

Leons will do an great job with what ever repair you throw at them. But they like to max out their labour hours on every single service they do. Their have been jobs where they do take the entire time and others that take them 10 minutes. but no matter the amount of time they take to repair your car they will still declare the full time was taken.

We have consistently received excellent service at Leons. They always consult before doing any services or installing any parts over what they first estimated. They are on time and always very courteous. Their reminder system is also very helpful. I recommend Leons to anyone looking for a responsible mechanic for routine maintenance as well as more challenging repairs.

First of all they charged me 180$ too change my transmission fluid. Then there “mechanic “ almost got hit while driving my car. A few days later it rained I hit my windshield wipers and a torx tool came out of my hood and broke my windshield. They are horrible techs an horrible overpriced liars

I am shocked to read such negative reviews regarding Leons Car Care. Not only have I found the service staff friendly and knowledgeable, but I found their work very affordable as well as professionally and ethically sound.My old truck has been to three mechanics in a month and a half. I found a leak every other mechanic told me did not exist. While repairing my exhaust system the Leons mechanic identified not only the leak I suspected but also several other details that could be of concern should I want to be driving around the mountain safely.Perhaps the previous customers didnt appreciate receiving such thorough details about their vehicle and mistook a responsible mechanics task to INFORM their customer of potential points of concern as attempting to dig more money out of their pocket. Personally, I prefer understanding the details of my vehicles challenges so I might best tend to its health. Back east I had close, personal experience with less knowledgeable mechanics who indeed were eager to create issues that were not necessary and acted on their suspicions without speaking to me first. I do not confuse Leons strength in accountability (with regard to potential problems) with unscrupulous business practices. Rather, I find their efforts essential to my investment in the life of the vehicle that carries me safely across the country.As you can see, I can not say enough good about Leons.Thanks Leon (and your courteous, knowledgeable, trustworthy professionals) for service. They did an amazing job on my truck, had alot of work done, including new cat back exhaust and it performs and sounds awesome. The truck feels and runs great now. Great prices too they dont gouge you like everyone else in Humboldt seems like they have a pretty sound business model and understand competetive pricing and are able to handle a large volume of customers so they dont need to squeeze every customer for every last penny. 10% off for AAA saved me a $200! Going to buy a new head unit with all the money I saved. I will be a returning customer and taking my other car here aswell
