Went in for an undercut and a bit of a clean-up/trim. In my experience, its been difficult for stylists to nail exactly what Im going for, considering I prefer a sort of layered, intentionally mussed look--so you can imagine my delight when I walked out of here looking exactly the way I wanted to. Im unsure, but I think the stylists name was Zelia? Anyway, she did a stellar job and was tons of fun to talk to as well. This place is great, would highly recommend.

I had an amazing experience at Bishop Haircuts. I normally hate letting people cut my hair, mainly because I hate how my hair turns out afterwards. I have long hair and a lot of it. I showed Karlie a sample photo of some layers I wanted done to my hair as well as getting about an inch and a half taken off. She cut my hair dry and did an amazing job with my natural wave pattern. I’m obsessed with my hair and will 100% go back to see her again.

The best prices in town that Ive seen. In the staff is super friendly and talented. It had been close to a year since I had my haircut and it was pretty long. I went in to schedule a haircut that my that another place shanked. So i booked with Bishops to fix it.When I went into bishops to fix it, the original person that I booked with noticed right away and asked if I had a mullet under my hat. I was like yep, she said sorry I had you wait, but I’d like to send you over to Maria(h) (unsure of the spelling)she’s a mullet whisperer. Well Effen Eh she is. Now I have a respectable hair cut I can visit grandma during the summer and party with the uncles after dinner.

I got my boyfriend a haircut there for his birthday because of the outstanding reviews. He wanted to go somewhere different from a barber shop and this place was a little pricier so I thought it would be a very nice haircut. He came back literally 20 minutes later and when he walked in I thought something happened and he wasn’t able to get the haircut. It did not look like anything was done to his hair at all and it was $40 with a mandatory tip for six minutes. He told the stylist he wanted layers. There are no layers. She lied to him and said she did layers but there’s no way she could have in 6-10 minutes. He was confused as he is not used to getting haircuts and she took advantage. I’m very disappointed and so is he. We will not be returning.

After my hairdresser of 25 years retired, I was nervous to let someone else touch my hair (especially after a year of pandemic hair). Twyla was incredible--paying attention to what I wanted in my cut, answering my questions, etc. She even talked over color options with me, and I came back later in the week to get it colored. I LOVE it!! She is a talented hair stylist, and a gifted colorist. I have a new hairdresser!

I went to Bishops after several disastrous attempts to trim my bangs at home. The shop was so clean and open and bright - it felt super safe but also still welcoming. I had been really happy with how my hair turned out the first time I went to Bishop’s, the second time not so much. The under layer was cut so short I’m not able to put all of my hair up anymore, I had just asked for a trim as the bottom layers tend to not curl the same as the rest. I was hardly spoken to and felt a little out of place the whole time there.

Edit: If you click above where is says 6 photos you can see my hair.I had never dyed my hair before and I wanted to try it. I chose Bishops off reviews and photos of peoples hair. My appointment with Kyle was changed twice bc he wanted to run an errand during my appointment time. Then Willow called and was going to do my hair at original appointment time. They could not agree on how to do it, and spent almost 15 min debating it. I didn’t want to be rude or judgmental so I stayed. During the appointment they were both on their phones sitting in the hair chairs while I was processing. I didn’t like my hair once it was finished but I really couldn’t see it in the lighting. I paid $180, and once I got home I realized how bad it was. It turned even more orange and blond as a day past, and I wanted a gradual color but it was big chunky orange highlights. I spent a day debating and was going to go back the next day, but they were closed. So I ended up going back today. Kyle let me know he was the manager and there is no refund. He seemed annoyed and unsympathetic. He agreed that it looked bad when I had it done but said he didn’t want to say anything in case I liked it. He did not apologize and was just very unfriendly. I was told there was no refund even partial as I offered to pay for products used. He said he could fix it, but was quite rude about it. I felt uncomfortable coming back to them to fix it not only because they messed it up so badly, but because I would feel uncomfortable having someone who seemed mad at me for coming in with a problem to fix my hair. Horrible experience and yes my hair looks bad, but the rudeness and lack of empathy made it so much worse and ultimately that was the worst experience. Please just learn from my mistakes and do not come here!

Willow is so intuitive and easy. She knows just how much to talk and connect and let you relax in her perfectly gentle touch. I went to my trusted amazing Frenchi in Portland for 15+ years and was nervous about finding a new local stylist. I totally trust Willow and love that she has a 7-day return policy. Shell adjust or correct if you arent stoked but I havent found the need to do that!

I was told my stylist retired when I called. Found out she’s not. Kristine’s been cutting my hair for 8 years and I followed her Bishops. Lying to her clients to keep them there. Not cool.

Really enjoyed my first visit to Bishops- my hair was transformed! I’ve had pretty extensive heat and color damage and just needed a bit of a restart. Jenn gave me a really wonderful cut that suits my hair type well and helped me find products to turn the health of my hair around-as well as advice on care.The atmosphere is very clean, modern, and open; it feels like anyone is welcome in. The prices being laid out and up front is really appreciated. Also, the shop is in a great location (coffee and tacos next door!). I will be back again for my next chop ❤️

There were 6 people total here including 4 employees. And I was told I needed to wait 4 hours for a trim. I then sat outside as they had no customers for the next hour. It’s sad they didn’t want a new customer.

Good haircut, but Definitely not what I was looking for. Bishops has been my spot in Portland these last few years and Ive loved the results time & again.. Consulted briefly about wanting a trim and #3-4 fade with this new-to-me hairstylist. I normally wear my hair with about ~5 on top and a #3 fade on the side, adjustable and wearable in many different styles. After the 53 minutes, 6 blow downs, and 11 times trimming my bangs to the right later, I have a 1 style haircut--no fade. Never checked in during to see if the haircut was alright, or what I wanted. Afterwards, Im told they arent a barber. Thats perfectly alright.. just check in before you cut me down to a Jack Jack haircut.
