I checked out a few mechanics in the area and finally took a chance and stopped at Ernie’s. I’ve been there twice for work and have been extremely happy with both experiences. First, he’s honest. Second, job was done well. Third, they went above and beyond. Fourth, fair price. And fifth, it was like talking with family sitting in there! I will forever be going back with any issues I have!

These guys took the time to help me out even when they were very busy. I really appreciate it! Prices were very fair, but especially I admired the kindness given to me.

Traveled from Ohio when my truck broke down. Ernie put a rush on my vehicle that would have taken any other place at least a week. He had it done in a day!!! Plus very reasonably priced!! Ernie is a super nice guy and they did an amazing job.

Ernie was nothing short of great. I was having trouble with all four of my brakes. I have spent almost $1,000 each year on brakes from other shops. Ernie found that the reason why I went through brakes frequently was because my calipers were broken and stuck. He didnt put a band-aid on the problem.. He FIXED the problem. Highly recommended!

I was having some problems with my power steering pump. It was making a whining noise. I took it to the dealer to be checked and they gave me a very pricey estimate to have it replaced. I looked up automotive repair shops near me, and Ernies popped up first. I called and Ernie was so pleasant and told me to bring my car in and hed take a look. He replaced my power steering pump quickly and a lot cheaper than what the dealer was going to charge. Ernies Automotive provided quality work, reasonable pricing, and quick service. About a month ago my car started over heating and I didnt know who to go to because Im not from the Elmhurst area. I ended up going to Ernie because his shop was within 5 minutes of where my car was and he was awesome! He was able to get my car in and started the diagnostics immediately. He also helped me arrange car rental for the day and after I was put on hold with the car rental business he personally apologized that they were taking so long and he drove me over to the car rental himself. Very nice guy and funny. Ernie gave me a call that night and let me know that the issue was electrical with my fans not turning on and he gave me a few options. I approved the repairs and he had it ready for me the next day!!! Outstanding work, professionalism, and punctuality. If Im ever in the Elmhurst area again and need repairs or maintenance I will definitely be back.

Ernie’s Automotive helped me out when I was in a tough spot, stranded an hour drive from home with an exhaust that was broken and hanging on the ground. Ernie was able to get his hands on difficult to source parts and get the car purring like a kitten again within a couple hours, with great service going above and beyond what other shops would do, honest work, and quick resolution to get me on my way. Ernie and the other guys at the shop were top notch, I found my new mechanic.

This is by far the best auto shop in the area hands down. Prices are very fair and most importantly the mechanics are honest and talented! I tried many other places in the area and either they lied to me or didnt fix the problem or charges insane prices. Ernie is also a nice guy. Waiting area is the size of a closet though.

Was sure I had a bad CV joint. Took it in to Ernies. About an hour after dropping it off he calls and long story short... It was my floor mat rubbing up against the steering column. Didnt charge me anything. Honest guys over there. When something does go wrong with my van you can be sure Ill bring it back there.

I work for a transportation company and am in charge our the fleet of over +40 vehicles. We have used Ernies Automotive for around a year, switching from another mechanic. Ernies is a straight forward, evenly price mechanic and has been able to fix all issues that have come up with our vehicles. I know when I bring a fleet vehicle into him, there will be no extra work done and he will fix exactly what we need working.Recently, Ive also had my personal vehicle brought into Ernies for an unforeseen issue. My personal car was fixed in a day and back to me before I knew it. My car works better now than I feel it did before the issue came up.For my fleet or personal car, I will never go to another mechanic again. Best mechanics you can find. They will honor thier work too the end. You can trust them with your life, and you are when your talking automotive. Been going to ernie for over 10 years. I say it again, you cant find better, and very competitive pricing.

Absolutely awesome business. I would argue it comes on top of any similar business in vicinity - not only can you actually reach them over the phone and schedule visit in decent timeframe... they have skills to back up their promises.Lots of shops in area aim for easy repairs that theyll charge you hundreds of dollars for. With this business there is no guessing game. You get detailed breakdown in parts and labor in hours, and you are charged that. Not standard - bring it in, $100 to look at it and then well give you a quote but expect itll be $500+. Oh, and also, our next available appointment is next week.While I dislike that this business is not more prominently displayed here on Google, I do hope itll remain hidden gem for all of us who are not willing to put up with prevalent ridiculous practices. Congrats to Ernie for running great operation!
