Steve and Alex did a great job installing our whole house dehumidifier. They explained everything that went into installing it and how to use it. Even offering assistance if we had any questions or concerns about it. We would definitely use them again for other in home installations or repairs. Highly recommended!

Our heat pump was originally diagnosed to need a new defrost board but upon further evaluation, it turned out just to be a faulty switch, resulting in a much cheaper resolution. They could have installed the new defrost board and fix the switch at the same time and I wouldn’t have known the difference. Integrity is an important quality for any service provider.

I was a 40 plus year customer of Alan Heating in south Elmhurst. When I called today for service, I learned they had merged with another firm this year and were no longer a Lennox dealer. The price of a routine furnance/humidifier service call was increased to well over $200 from $85. Its sad to have to find a new service firm.

Had a technician give a check-up to our furnace on a snowy day in January. He tracked in snow and mud through our hallway and onto our basement carpeting without any acknowledgement. All right then, we can clean it up--feel sorry for this guys mom if hes like that at home.Fast forward three months to April--now the furnace is not heating the home to the thermostat temperature. Called them back, and a different technician (Greg) came out thankfully. He was friendly and informative and said it was probably a faulty flame sensor, which he cleaned. But shouldnt that have been done in January? He tried to say it could have built up sediment in that three month span--not likely. This is a Lennox unit they installed less than 10 years earlier (when the previous owner lived in the home).Technician said it would be $85 for the 15 minute visit. I asked him to call the owner to consider waiving the fee as a courtesy since we paid to have them check and tune up the system just a few months earlier. Nope. Pay your $85.Did not receive a bill until yesterday (4 months later), complete with an additional charge of $1.28 for past due interest. So our check for $86.28 is going in the mail today. I hope it is worth it to them to lose a customer for life.

Charged me 500 for a blower motor, left the box downstairs. I googled the part number off the box and the same model motor is sold between 100-150 dollars at local suppliers. Would feel more fair if that price was inclusive of labor (as was implied when quoted). Used to call them all the time at our old place and never felt like the prices were way off of market like this. Well at least we have heat again...

Bought a home and could not figure out how to turn the furnace on. Called Alan Heating on a Saturday morning, and a technician was sent out within the hour. Turned out the fuse was blown and the wiring was all wrong! The technician replaced the fuse and fixed the wiring within 30 minutes, for a very fair price that was $100 less than another company was willing to come out for!

Ridiculous customer service! Was transparent about my emergency of having no heat at my home and trying to find a service company that can come out early as possible due to the care of my children and dogs and unfortunately other prior commitments that afternoon. Apparently, that is a game for them. Was spoken to with disrespect and disregard to a potential customer and then was hung up on. Called back to speak to a manager and I was told they cannot service my house today. I’m very glad they are not servicing my home and receiving my money. Potential customers beware, they’re NOT customer focused!

I had this service charge me $892 to install 2 parts which have a total cost of $265. This includes a charge I incurred where one of their service guys charged me $85 for 10 minute visit where he re-attached a valve that had a tear in it. Be careful of price gouging with this company.

Mike is the grandson of the founder who started the business 70 years ago. I requested a quote knowing my system would need to be replaced as it was nearly 20 years old and not well maintained by a previous owner.Alan was one of 3 companies to bid the job, and the last to do so. At the end of Mikes assessment and quote I told him that his presentation was so thorough and precise that he had 100% earned my business and it was just a matter of picking which model condenser I wanted. After an inspection of my outdoor/indoor setup, mike proceeded to walk the entire house to inspect vent location and took a measurement in each room to calculate the precise square footage of my home. He sketched the floor plan on an ipad with measurements and detailed notes. It was very impressive.He then explained that split level homes are very difficult/impossible to evenly cool. But, being an Elmhurst company he deals with hundreds of split levels every year. He explained the key to cooling split levels is using a slightly smaller condenser (3 ton condenser instead of 3.5 in my case) to cause the system to run slightly longer which will push a larger volume of cooler air across all of the levels. As opposed to a smaller volume of colder air which a larger condenser would provide. The results are fantastic and my home is staying much more evenly cool.I could not recommend them more highly. Most contractors just want to quickly come out and replace your equipment with an updated equivalent. Alan HVAC took the time to asses my home and my need and give me an informed recommendation.
