Did a demo flight with Michel. It was an amazing experience and I learned a lot. Highly recommended!
The pilot lived up to the reviews but the memories will last a long time. What an incredible place.
Staff, simply amazing! Enough said.
Line crew was super helpful. Tied down my plane and filled it up. Inside person was helpful and talkative. Bathroom was clean and stocked. Kitchen area was nice and worked for my needs. Lots of bigger planes on the ramp that night that they were busy with, but still made time for the smaller guy. Thanks again well worth coming to Thunderbird at flying cloud then any other fbo in the twin cities.
This place was so awesome! They helped me plan a suprise flying lesson for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it! I recommend the introductory flight lesson to anyone with any interest in flying!
From a drivers perspective, the people at this FBO are among the friendliest and easiest to interact with out there.
Ive flown in about four or five times within the past year. Always someone to marshal me in. Fast 100LL service. Very clean bathrooms. Would rate in the top ten percent of bathrooms of FBOs Ive visited. If I had to choose one downside, I would say the vending machine items are twenty five cents to much. But the again right behind you is free popcorn.
I love to fly and love to learn and the Pilots and Instructors at Thunderbird are alway very friendly and helpful and great to be around
I got discover flight on Cloud9Living just for fun. I always wanted to try to flight myself. My whole experience was awesome!! I came in to a clean, beautiful space with nice bathrooms and free water and coffee. My pilot came few minutes earlier and we were able to begin right away,so I didn’t have to wait. He took some pics of me as I asked and we got to airplane. The flight was gorgeous!! It’s fall time so the leaves on lake Minnetonka were soo beautiful! He let me take control over when were up high (he also offered me to take off and he did the landing part). I had so much fun! Also,my pilot showed me different maneuvers such as stall maneuver that gave me unforgettable feeling. I’m giving this place 5 stars! Also, it’s better if you buy it on their website not from places like that cloud living which is sort of like Groupon. It was MORE expensive on that “money saving” website than at Thunderbird aviation.
I had the opportunity to take a discovery flight with Dan and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life! I instantly fell in love with it and am going to pursue flying on a level I never thought I would have.
On a recent fishing trip to Canada we were picked up at Thunderbird Aviation for our flight North. We left our car parked there and the keys were at the front desk. Our travel plans on the way home changed multiple times due to very challenging flying weather and I was able to call Thunderbird up until 11pm to update them on our plans and make accommodations for our vehicle pickup. The facility is amazing with the new building and the staff was so friendly and courteous even to our Cessna 172 crew! Thank you so much for the flexibility (Deb and crew)...we will definitely use Thunderbird everytime we fly out of Flying Cloud.
Thank you for an awesome experience!
Got a groupon for discovery flight lesson!!! 1st time on a plane and I got to fly it!!!! We got to fly over my house it was so cool. Amazing knowledgeable staff made for an incredibly memorable event.
Good service. Friendly staff. Took great care of my plane during my stay.

I went there for a discovery flight lesson(bought a groupon). Great staff...great experience. Highly recommended.

I flew my twin Cessna 340 into Flying Cloud Airport on July 18th, 2017, and parked at the Thunderbird Aviation (TA) FBO. At the TA desk, I asked for mechanical work to be done on the brakes. My left brake was not working properly and possibly needed additional fluid or new O-rings. The TA shop worked on my C340 the very next day. The airframe log indicates that A&P Crystal Johnson removed the old O-ring and installed a new O-ring on one of the left main caliper cylinders, and the log indicated that A&P Johnson certified the plane as airworthy.I came back to the airport on July 21st and flew the plane directly from Flying Cloud Airport to Glasgow, Kentucky on a four hour flight. On taxi before departure and after landing, the brakes were working properly. However, when I restarted the engines after refueling in Glasgow so that I could taxi to park, a spotter outside the plane noticed that the left main gear door was swinging in the propwash from the engine.I inspected the door and found that the rod which normally connects the gear door to the main strut was disconnected. The nut which normally secures the rod was still on the rod’s threaded connector, indicating that the rod had been disconnected manually so that the gear could be moved out of the way and the nut had been replaced for safekeeping. I immediately reattached the rod to the strut so that the gear door was secured. From a cursory inspection I did not notice any obvious damage, but I called TA and reported this error to their shop director, Shane Falz. He said that the mechanic who worked on my brakes never worked anywhere near the strut, and all work was done from inside the cockpit. This statement does not seem plausible because the brake cylinders are on the landing gear, adjacent to the brake pads. I told Shane that I would have the left gear door inspected during my aircraft’s annual inspection, which was due in August 2017.At my C340’s annual inspection, my mechanic found that the left gear door hinge was cracked. I replaced the hinge at a cost of $385 for parts and $195 for labor. I called Thunderbird Aviation and spoke to the director of operations, Chlorisa Adams, to give an update on the situation. She stated that she was aware of this complaint from July, and she would look into it. I never got a call back.I flew back to Flying Cloud Airport on September 27th and I asked the director of operations, Ms Adams, to inspect the airplane with me. TA revised their statement about how the O-ring was changed and now claimed that their mechanic never disconnected the left gear door rod, and instead changed the O-ring by s;iding her hands in-between the gear door and the main strut (about a 3 inch gap). I believe this would be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, because this method would not allow the mechanic to visualize the cylinder. Alternatively, if the gear door had already been disconnected prior to changing the O-ring, the mechanic would have noticed that the gear door was not connected when it moved freely, and should have noted the problem and corrected it before certifying the plane as airworthy.Thunderbird Aviation still refuses to take responsibility for this mistake and the resulting damage, arguing that the mechanic did not disconnect the left gear door rod. I maintain that the mechanic had a responsibility to reconnect the gear door rod if she disconnected it, or to notice the rod was disconnected and correct the problem because there was no way that during the performance of her duties she could not have noticed that the door was disconnected. Whether or not the mechanic did or did not disconnect the left gear door rod, the fact remains that the door was not secured at the end of her work on my brakes. Therefore, the plane was not airworthy as indicated in her log entry. A serious inflight situation could have resulted if the gear door came off during flight and struck the left horizontal stabilizer. STAY AWAY FROM THUNDERBIRD AVIATION IF YOU WANT YOUR PLANE TO REMAIN AIRWORTHY.
Awesome scenic flight with Sam...would definitely do it again!!! Thank you Sam
This is the worst experience EVER!!! I came from stcloud MN I told them I was a bigger guy we were suppose to be on the plane at 4:00 not tell 4:30 did they tell us me and my fiancé couldnt go because we weigh to much please dont go with me them I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone
