This is the place! For the past six years Ive been driving to Minneapolus and paying a lot more for haircuts. No more! I didnt know a place like this existed in Eau Claire. It definitely has an urban vibe. These guys really know what they are doing. It is what youd expect in a much larger city. If youre looking for a cheap strip mall haircut you probably wont like it.

Always the finest! I drive the distance to get the best and consistency! Since meeting Chris F., 4 years ago now, my nephew (13) with mixed ethnicity hair has never had a bad hair cut! Its not just Chris...Im always observing and I would never hesitate to use any barber in that shop!Sidenote: Always great conversations and a fun time! Worth the stop!!!

Ive got my haircut at Chips on three separate occasions and not once have I been satisfied! The facility has an awkward setup and the vibe is uninviting. All the hair cutting stations are at the front of the barbershop and the waiting area is at a bar in the back. The lady that cut my hair the first time seemed to know exactly what I wanted the moment I explained it to her. I still showed a picture just in case. She turned me towards the mirror, pulled my 4 inch hair up, and cut three inches off the top of my head. I was instantly anxious and all I could think was that Im paying $30 for a haircut I could get at Great clips. I spent the next 3 months looking like Moe Howard from The Three stooges. 🙄😒 Aside from the fact that I now had a bowl cut, she said it wouldnt look good unless I styled it. So she slapped some gel onto my head and gave it a nice greasy look flopping over my forehead!! A few months later I went back but decided to choose someone different. I was getting a haircut for prom and once I told the barber when I wanted he said I wouldnt look good with that haircut. So he told me what I should get......yeah..... Overall the haircut looked good but it was nothing that I wanted and it looked super basic. Today I went back for the third time and Ive made the decision to never return. I told the barber what I wanted and he said he didnt think it would look good so I made some tweaks in my decision. The last thing he said before cutting my hair was, Ok, I think I can do this?Love the confidence Chris, very reassuring.During my haircut the barber seemed more indulged in the conversation he was having then my hair which he was cutting. A conversation which was very inappropriate in a work setting. Constant cussing and racial slurs being thrown around. The fact that there were children around didnt make it any better! I was very meticulate and specific on what I wanted my hair to look like. $30 isnt exactly a cheep haircut! I could tell the barber was getting annoyed with me by his rush to finish and walking over to the paying counter before I got out of my chair.I wont be back and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!NOT WORTH THE TIME OR MONEY!

Great place, everyone that works there will take care of you whatever you want done to make you look good and feel confident. Highly recommended in my opinion.

I really appreciate Chips! Im not used to going to an actual barber, but now that I have a little more I understand why people are willing to pay more than the cheap quick cut places. The first time I went in the cut was absolutely perfect and for the first time in a long time I was confident and happy with how it looked. Second time, although with the same barber, it was substantially different. But I understand it takes a while to know your client and their taste, so I still definitely plan to go back.Anyways, definitely nothing wrong with the place, and its an enjoyable place to get a cut with a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to my friends!

It was my first time at Chips and I couldn’t be more pleased with the cut. Chip is a magician with the clippers and he takes his time to get you right. I highly recommend going to Chips if you need a cut, trim, or fade.The staff is also super friendly and the shop is a vibe itself. They also have a dope clothing line that I’ll be repping.Whether I’m in Eau Claire or the Twin Cities I’ll definitely take time out of my day to visit Chips for a cut.

I take my boys here. They see Chris each time. He has done a great job with them. They are very particular about their cuts and he does well with my youngest who doesnt typically sit still well. However, he does for Chris. Cant go wrong here. I suggest an appointment since they are always busy/booked up and for a good reason. I would not go anywhere else in this area. Im pleased to see they also have a woman in the mix now as well. Definitely a must see place if you are looking for a great cut...edge...get lined up...or whatever!!

Every now and then circumstances will have me dropping in somewhere else for a haircut, and its usually fine or whatever. But I would never go anywhere else if I KNEW I had to look especially good or sharp for a wedding, a date or some kind of event. Its always Chips if ive got a big night coming up. Best haircuts hands down, every time. Im done dropping in anywhere else. The difference in the quality of the cut is too great. Gotta be Chips!

Bad ExperienceI am new to Eau Claire and was looking for a barbershop. Chip’s was referred to me by several people and the online reviews were positive. Unfortunately the experience and atmosphere at Chip’s was not at all what I expected. Based on the website, reviews, and services listed, I was under the impression Chip’s was a classic men’s barber shop. However, upon arrival it appeared to be a mix of a salon and barber. There were patrons receiving services not listed on Chip’s website.Customer service in general was subpar. I was not greeted or acknowledged upon entering and the barber was running late. I felt very uncomfortable as well due to inappropriate and vulgar conversations taking place within the shop. Service prices were never given or shown to me, and for the job and experience I received, I would never pay that amount again.I showed a picture of what style haircut and beard trim I was looking for. The barber did not communicate or ask follow up questions about the style and was sporadic in her work alternating between trimming my hair and beard. The impression I got was she wanted to just get it done and do it her own way. Poor rapport and communication resulted in an unsatisfied haircut and beard trim that was not close to the style that had been shown.Overall it was a disappointing experience. I would not recommend Chip’s if you’re looking for a classic old-school style barbershop.

I could tell these guys were passionate about cutting hair. I was very pleased with the level of expertise I received. If they would have been on time to my appt after their lunch break this is 5-stars. Call me old school, but 15 minutes late back from lunch isnt very professional, especially if no one is in the building and the doors are locked.

If you want a pro level cut come here, When I moved to Eau Claire from the east coast I couldnt find a decent cut anywhere, I go to Kev on a regular basis, I wouldnt go anywhere else. All the guys here are great and can be trusted to give you a fresh cut, straight lines. Great atmosphere, good jokes. You will never feel your haircut is rushed. Kev is really personable, and always takes a lot of time into your cut, never rushed, exceptional attention to detail. Schedule an appointment, they are busy for a reason!

Took my 12 year old son there for his second cut. First time was Chip and the second was Chris. Both did a fine job and my son who doesnt care for haircuts commented that he actually really liked the cut by Chris. That is saying something coming from a tween.

Best place to visit for a REAL guys haircut, shave, or lining. Would DEFINITELY recommend over and over. I even take my son, and hes only four.

Horrible customer service. I went to get a gift card and also had an appointment set up to get my sons haircut and we were both treated without respect or patience. Chip was short and uninterested in helping my son feel more comfortable getting a haircut. He didnt take no time to even sit down and try to talk to my son at all, just basically told me he doesnt have time for us (as I had an appointment set up) we were there MAYBE 15-20 mins, and on top of that, theres multiple addresses listed online and was not that easy to find, I tried calling to find out which address was right but no one answered.Im very disappointed In the overall experience here, and doubt Ill return. Ill also be letting everyone I know, know what kind of experience we had. 👍
