I broke down in Eau Claire and not being from there I had no idea where I should get my car towed. I googled car repair in Eau Claire and this was the number one rated. I understand why!!! They were SO kind, going beyond what is expected. They were also super fast and the repairs were fair priced. If I could give Joel 10 stars I would. My son is a student at UWEC and found himself stranded on the highway after hitting a buckle/pothole in the road and ruining 2 tires and 2 rims. We had his car towed to Joels based on reviews I read online and location close to campus. I thought there was more damage underneath but Joel checked it out closely, tested everything, drove it and told me no need to fix anything, but I definitely needed 2 new tires and 2 new rims. Joel could have recommended that he mount and balance the tires, etc...and could have made a lot more money off of me. But, he recommended TireRack.com and when you buy tires and rims they mount and balance them for free. I had the tires/rims sent to Joel and they showed up next day. Joel put the tires on and synced up the tire pressure monitors, etc.....and he charged me just a little over $100 for everything he did. He was super helpful in many ways and truly cared about the best way to solve the problem instead of just trying to make $$$$. Thank you Joel!

He has helped us with issues with a current car and also inspected a used one we were looking at buying, and he told us all the pros and cons of what he found. My daughter goes to UWEC near here and had a car that wouldnt start. I dont live in EC and didnt know where to send her. I got lucky and found this place. I thought it was going to be an expensive repair but after some checking Joel gave me a call to let me know that he found the real culprit, a bad battery that was still under warranty. He exchanged the battery and my daughter was on her way. He could have taken advantage and done the work I thought was needed but he didnt. I ended up getting the car fixed for a fraction of what I thought it was going to cost. It is hard to find an honest mechanic so when I do I want to let everyone know. Thanks again Joel.

Went in because I was having trouble with my tires creating an uneven ride. They inspected the tires, rotated them, gave my car a test drive, and corrected the tires air pressure. When I asked how much it would cost, they stated that they wouldnt charge me for the services today and to just let them know how its handling in a week. The car runs smoothly now and I cant recommend this business enough!

Joel runs a very honest and hardworking shop that goes above and beyond for their customers! I was skeptical to try them out because it has very little reviews. But I am glad I did!I called Joel’s shop because I had some car trouble and the other place turn me down bc they didn’t have any one available. So I decided to try Joel, and he responded quickly to check my car, he also noticed a massive mice nest in a part of my engine. This was a surprise to me because less than week before I had taken my car for a routine check up and told everything was good. Joel took care of the problem in a fair time and decent price and cleaned up the mice nest, and recommended solutions.

So kind, quick, and affordable! Went in to get my oil changed and have my check engine light looked at. He took care of everything for SO cheap (not charging me to look in on the check engine light...something that Firestone charged me 100 just to look at and not fix/do anything). When the issue came out to be something more complicated, he took the time to explain it to me and even offered to call my dad who’s a mechanic and chat with him about my options. Adorable—I’m sold on Joel’s!

I told these guys my car was dead 2 blocks away from their shop and it had a dead starter. They got together a group of guys to help push the car in subzero weather to the shop and got it in the shop and fixed very fast and pretty cheap. Downright the nicest guys I have met in this profession. They went out the way just it make sure my wife and kid were in a safe vehicle in this cold weather. I’m forever grateful for this group of guys.

Ive been going to Jills now for most of my repairs at first it was just a few things I just needed some mechanic to take a look at some stuff but then he told me that he could do it at a reasonable price and he was so professional about it and he was always so helpful he helped me fix a lot of stuff thats been wrong with my own suburban and I will continue giving him my business

Joel was very nice when I came into the shop and helped me right away. Got a free inspection on what was wrong with my car then Joel explained to me what needed to be repaired. It was quick and simple. Everything came out to be around $380 to fix my brakes and adjust my belts. Would highly recommend!

You can trust this shop for any work! We have been taking our family vehicles to Joel and his staff for decades. Joel is so trustworthy, I usually just leave the car and ask Joel to fix it (without calling about an estimate or to get approval before proceeding with the work). Recently, one of our vehicles broke down about a 100 miles from Eau Claire. We knew that it would be better to transport the vehicle to Joel than to take it to the closest garage (and save $ in cost of transporting the the vehicle).Joel is as honest as the day is long!

My catalytic converter was stolen, Joel told me straight up what it was, how much to fix it and when I determined I wasnt fixing it he didnt charge me for looking at it, which most places charge just to touch your car.He said were just here to help people. We need more places like this

I couldnt be happier with Joels Water Street Auto Repair. My wifes car broke down on her way back to the Twin Cities from central Wisconsin on Sunday. I was frantically trying to find a mechanic in Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls, and I ran across the reviews here.I had the car towed to Joels. They were quick with a diagnosis. They had sound advice as to how to proceed (rebuild the alternator) and were able to turn the vehicle around quickly.I talked to Joel several times and he was always very friendly, as was Patrick, who I believe did the work on the car. They are very reasonably priced.If youre in need of a mechanic in the Eau Claire area, I would highly recommend Joels.

Joel is one of those genuinely kind, helpful, honest people. He had Nick look at my car as soon as I got there, not even having made an appointment except 10 minutes before. He gave me a great price and explained everything, and Nick showed me exactly what was wrong under my car. When the part was going to take a while to get there, he offered the quickest and cheapest alternative way to get me back on the road--and was even honest about the 10% risk that it wouldnt work, and drew me a picture to explain why. When I decided to go with that option, they took it right in to work on it. Even though it ended up being harder than they expected, they both stayed an extra hour to get it done, and then under-charged me for labor.This has been one of the most pleasant experiences Ive ever had with an auto shop, despite the fact that I was freaking out about being stuck alone in a place Id never been before when I was supposed to be a state away by tomorrow. Joel is just so friendly and cheerful! He knew most of the other customers who came through while I was there by name, and treated everyone with courtesy and respect. He even gave me (and another of his customers) a slice of pizza.

Got my power steering fixed here this week. This shop is awesome super friendly very knowledgeable and very fair rates. I broke down in ec and I needed to get to a shop fast before I did more damage to my car and I was at the mayo hospital it’s maybe a little over a mile away. So when I walked if in there was a few gentleman just bullshiting and the owner Joel was very friendly and they had me back up and running in no time. What I told him I thought was wrong with my car and would have costed way more was not the case so I call that Integrity at its finest. If I ever brake down again in EC i will go back!

My Daughter goes to the U and called to tell me her tire was flat. I contacted AAA and had the car towed to Joels. He promised to have it ready for her to pick up after class, and when I called and said she would bike over and pick it up, he said it was raining and he could run and get her if she didnt want to bike in the rain. That is service you dont see much anymore. It turns my daughter already had a ride, but the offer was nice. Charged me $20 to fix the tire, which is a good price. I will send her to see Joel again if any more car issues come up.

I first came to Water Street Auto when I was a student at UWEC. New to the area, I had no idea where to bring my car in and who I could trust. I was very pleased with Water Street Auto, how helpful, understanding, and honest they were. Ive gone to Water Street auto several times now. One time Joel and his team were honest in helping me with a unique situation. Joel went so far as to get ahold of my dad back in the cities to talk to him about what our family mechanic has said about the issue before.I have now graduated from UWEC and moved back to MN. I brought my car into another shop and they explained that I had a part leaking that was replaced over a year ago by Joel. I called Water Street Auto to ask if the part was under warranty (it was). He went out of his way to get ahold of the place he gets his parts from to see if they had a branch in my new location. Eventually I ended up coming back to Joel to fix and replace the part because he was so honest, helpful, and willing to do whatever he could. He cleared his schedule to help me out since I was coming for a long weekend to visit friends anyways.If you are are college student, or a parent of a college student, worried about the car and who you can trust, go see Joels team at Water Street Auto. They will do everything they can, including being as honest as possible.

Got quoted $500 to get my alternator replaced by Hillcrest in Altoona. Told the dude at Hillcrest to eat it, brought my car to Joels. I told him I didnt have a lot of money to put into repairs. He let me bring in my own alternator (still under warranty from when it was previously replaced) and only charged $120 for labor. My car hasnt run this well for years. Honest dudes, excellent service, dirt cheap.

I dont know how this place calls themselves a mechanic shop. They should probably just stick to oil changes. Took my car in to get a bolt drilled out that snapped off and to replace the axle. Took them 5 hrs to drill out the bolt. A bit long, but okay. 2 hrs to retap, only to snap the tap off in my knuckle. So they order a knuckle from their junk yard guy but they get it in w.o the abs sensor. So if they put it on my car is no longer have ABS. So they tell me theyll find a new one. 5 days later after no contact I go in and they tell me theyre done looking for my part and that I can find one myself and bring one in and theyd charge me another 200 to put it in. So basically they had my car a week. Charged me 300 bucks, put my axle in, and disabled my ABS. This place is a joke. Oh, and a week after getting the car back, all of my wheel well plastics blew off on the highway because they didnt resecure them. Bottom line is. Dont go here for real mechanic work.
