My wife and I have to travel to Durham North Carolina each week, and this courtyard has always been a great place to stay for us. Marco the general manager hires excellent people, they are all friendly and no their jobs well. Ive never had a problem checking in, checking out, or asking for anything that I need. We will be continuing to stay here in the future.

When we checked in, after midnight, we were at hospital with sick family member, the girl qpured me $99.00 for king bed or a room with 2 queens. I then asked for military discount (my husband is 100% military disabled), she quoted me $115.00. Do I need to insert the definition of a discount? This morning, I spoke to Marco ( supposed manager) absolutely no help. Blaming corporate..I was too disgusted to stay and school him on discounts. Suffice to say.. no one I know will stay here in the future. And the wall paper is peeling and furniture is fraying... no coffee in lobby. Spend your money somewhere else..

Check in was a little long, as there was a soccer tournament in town and people asking silly questions; wouldnt have been an issue if there was more than one person at the desk. Still, extremely friendly front desk person, apologized for the wait, and check on proceeded. Room was typical Courtyard, which is great, as usual. Clean, no musty smell, all good. Check out was some and off we go. Decent hotel right off the highway in Durham.

When I checked in the beds werent fully made and no pillows on one. Also no pillow coverings. Was awoken at 6:30 AM by an alarm radio I did not set. People working in the hotel yelling over the phone and to each other in the hallway early morning with a complete disregard for people in their rooms. In the morning, waited 10 to 15 minutes to speak with someone since there was no one at the front desk or breakfast area. Possibly the worst Marriott hotel in existence.

Great location. You can walk right across the street to a strip mall which has a little bit of everything including three restaurants where you can choose Mediterranean, Italian or Mexican food. Right next door is a BP gas station so if you are jonesing for soda or some nibbles or even a cup of coffee that doesnt cost $5 you can get it there. The Courtyard has a little bistro in the morning thats open and you can get cereal, danishes, or Starbucks offerings.I dont know what it is about Marriott but this is the third one Ive stayed in during the past month where the ice maker on the floor is not operational. The floor above me or below me always is. Is this a new policy for Marriott, every other floor does not have an operational ice maker?I would stay here again its a good location, has very friendly staff, a gym and the room is comfortable so you can tell COVID has affected them when it comes to little things

We cleaned our own everything.. vacuuming, sweeping, etc. Had to pay for breakfast too, which I thought was free. Thank God the house keepers leave their carts in the hallways lol. The only reason I am giving this property 4 stars is because the staff was extremely friendly... this hotel needs some serious upgrades. While I cant say my room wasnt clean, everything appeared so old and run down. The bathtub was extremely small, my toilet kept running, and the bed has seen its day. Someone tried to get in my room at the middle of the morning, and it sounded as if the people next door was in my room all night. To my knowledge this is the only Marriott property close to Duke, as Im a rewards member. Ill definitely do more research before my next visit to see if theres other options for accommodating me during my business trip.As I mentioned before the staff really appeared to enjoy their jobs. We stayed here for three nights out of the blue when visiting friends who came down with the flu. Wonderful little hotel! Everything very clean, seemed relatively newly renovated, nice room design, queen bed with modern curved sofa that pulled out, super shower/water pressure, even nicer than usual artwork that someone took time to choose. The hotel was close enough to I-85, but next to a fairly quiet subdivision and small commercial strip. Access to the highway was good, with ample parking. The staff was professional, courteous, and very helpful. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and reasonably quiet. The beds were very comfortable, and noise from the highway was unnoticed. There were several restaurants across the street, which included an affordable Chinese take out, Mexican sit down restaurant, and a Mediterranean style bistro. Not much else was in the area.In terms of food, there were no microwaves in the rooms. The bistro was a bit “foo foo” and overpriced for business travel that called for early rising and moving out of the hotel on local travel. I didn’t starve to death, but it added more travel time to an already hectic business schedule. In summary, I’d stay there again.

I called a few days before my arrival to confirm the shuttle and the front desk assured me that there would be a shuttle. When I got to the hotel on a Friday afternoon, I asked when the next shuttle for campus left, and the lady at the front desk said that there really wasnt a shuttle today. So, then I asked what time it started leaving for campus the next day, and she said it was only M-F (understandable, but just wish they could make this clear). All in all, my stay was fine. We stayed here last week while my mother had heart surgery at Duke Hospital. They have a shuttle to the hospital which is very convenient. The staff across the board is fantastic. They were all so nice. This is an older hotel but it is very well maintained. Our suite was well appointed, clean, quiet and comfortable. The grounds and pool area are really nice. The Bistro is nice, but extremely slow in the evenings. They have one person scheduled to work the area. She is bartender, server, cook, expediter, and cashier. That is a lot for one person to handle for 10-15 open tickets, but the lady working did a great job of juggling and not losing her cool. Just bring your patience if you plan on eating/drinking at the Bistro. Hopefully they will add a cook in the evenings. :) All in all a great place to stay.

I have never encountered a hotel with this degree of inconvenience associated with rudimentary hospitality. There is no complimentary coffee, no breakfast buffet, and long lines with under-staffed and under-skilled conditions plaguing the in-house Starbucks in the lobby. It seems as if the approach to selling beverages and limited foods from out of the Starbucks kiosk, as an avenue for revenue, comes at the expense of care for those who stay at this hotel. On multiple mornings, I had to walk to the nearest gas station to get a simple cup of coffee and a piece of fruit. In my judgment, this ought not happen when choosing to stay at a Courtyard Marriott.

Courtyard Durham is a great hotel, especially for the price range. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and did their job well and quickly. The renovated building is wonderful, and the amenities/price were absolutely perfect for our trip. The lobby/Bistro is a great space, and we had a dinner, a night of drinks, and two breakfasts there - so convenient! The design of the room felt great, and it was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed sipping our drinks while sitting around the fire pit, and the fruit water in the lobby was a nice touch, too. It reminded us of our recent stay at the Boca Raton Beach Club. The location is also great. We had business downtown, which took less than 10 minutes to reach, visited both Duke campuses within a few minutes, and did a wonderful Walking With Lemurs tour at the lemur center (about 5 minutes away). The only issue we had was there were a lot of noisey guests, especially around our first room (as the night got late), but the front desk quickly responded and moved us to a room away from noise. Great hotel and grounds. Staff was excellent and the décor and bed were nice and comfortable. Had a King sized bed room that was very small and hard to get settled in with two people. The amenities were nice and the security guard made my fiancé feel safe! If you intend on staying here, keep in mind the room may be a bit cramped. The Bar however is one I would not waste your money with. Good food (Shrimp Pot Stickers were excellent) but the drink $8.50 for liquor (house vodka) $3.00 for mixer (splash of Sierra Mist and cranberry) was unsettling. When the sign says $8.50 and the bartender confirms that price, you do not expect to pay $3.00 for them to walk over to the pantry (they sell Sierra Mist for $2.50) and crack open a bottle and splash a little in your drink. So the average priced drink turned into a $11.50 one that ensured it was the first and only. Great bartender and Great Hotel but Skip the Bar.

I traveled to Duke Medical Center for a consultation and opted to stay at Courtyard Durham Near Duke University. Duke Medical Center is about 10 minutes away and they offer special rates of patients at Duke. It was a good choice. The ADA room was well set up, for the most part, for guests with accessibility issues. The hotel had a friendly and helpful staff, ample parking, comfortable beds and Starbucks coffee. All in all, a good choice with on caveat. Sadly, the hotel only has one ADA room with a shower only configuration (no climbing into a tub). The other ADA rooms in the hotel have the tub and shower combo which does not work for many guests with accessibility issues. My advice is that if you promote access to Duke University and Medical Center, your hotel needs to be prepared for ADA guests who need sage access to showers in their rooms. One room with the appropriate configuration is clearly not enough...

The hotel was very clean and the amenities were very nice. The cafe and market were very convenient; the food quality and selection at the cafe was mediocre to poor and I found myself having to find meals elsewhere so if you dont have transportation, be aware. I was lucky to have a rental car. The staff is friendly and they try their best to meet your needs. My room had a connecting door to the room next door, which made for a VERY noisy stay. I could hear EVERYTHING going on in the neighbors room and even have this individuals email address memorized now from hearing them say it over and over. I was disappointed that the stay wasnt as restful as I had hoped for it to be. The noise level also made it very difficult to study for the exams I was taking at Duke. I reported this to the front desk several times, but nothing was ever done. I did have to change rooms upon check-in due to a broken fridge (a working fridge was a requirement for me), but the front desk clerk took care of this immediately without any issue. Overall, I will probably stay here again due to the close proximity to Duke. I will definitely be asking for a room without an adjoining door though and now that I somewhat know my way around the area, I will probably not partake in the cafe services but get all my meals elsewhere. This hotel should definitely have a free breakfast for the price of the room. The cafe breakfast prices (and other meal prices) were a little on the high side. Otherwise, it was a nice stay.

A few weeks later a manager of the hotel reached out to me saying I would be reimbursed and never got back to me. Since I have called the hotel every day and have gotten no further updates. If you stay at this hotel be cautious and keep all valuables with you. My overall rating is 1 star.

I was given a very large very nice two room suit. Nice for this level hotel. Great outdoor patio with a fire pit. Full bar with cocktail hour snacks.

As a veteran business traveler, I need the basics and the Courtyard always delivers. The rooms were clean, the people very friendly and was located near other amenities. For me, it is the consistency that the Courtyard that keeps me coming back. May not be ultra-fancy but it is well beyond sufficient.

Staff was very helpful and professional. Gave me suggestions on places to go. Theres a shopping center across the street which has a Walgreens and various places to eat and a nail salon. There is a pool in the back and most rooms have a little balcony where you can sit.
