My husband and I have been bringing our cars to Colonial Tire for several years and continue to be impressed with their professionalism and service. Chris has always been a pleasure to work with and consistently goes above and beyond in making sure his customers receive quality service (at a reasonable cost!) and respectful, considerate treatment from all of the employees. We highly recommend Colonial Tire!
Please do not take your car to this place for any type of maintenance. Not even an oil change. The service they did on my vehicle was amateur and outright dangerous. I am not writing this to be vicious but a warning to others. I had them install 2 camber/caster/toe arms into my car and then do an alignment. Not only did they rip me off by saying it was 3 hours of labor when I know it was 1 hour at most because I installed the other components myself but just had a problem loosening some bolts because I dont have an impact wrench or heating element. Had to bring it back because holding the steering wheel straight made me veer to the right. After asking for before and after alignment numbers, the toe and caster were also out of acceptable specs by almost a full degree. This is after bringing back!I wish the story ended here but after several weeks, I took my car to Lloyd Tire to have my tires balanced. Lloyd Tire told me that my suspension components were loose. I am not a mechanic but I know that you need to tighten everything especially the one you install! The sales associate didnt seem to care about that the subpar service and seemed to brush it under the rug and their lead mechanic is mechanically challenged. There are literally 10 other automotive service places within a 1 mile radius. To reiterate, please take your business elsewhere. If you cant do a good job, dont do it at all. For this place, they cant even do a competent job.
Their prices are very reasonable and the waiting was decent...Yes I will go back...P.S.Chris your hospitality is awesome.....the staff was great and their bathroom was CLEAN!!!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Best place in town to get tires and alignments. Last 4 sets of tires came from here. Very helpful staff and nothing like supporting family owned businesse!!
I had my oil changed back in May 2021. About a month later I got a notification from my car that there was low oil. I opened the hood and oil was splattered all throughout the hood/engine of my car. Whoever changed my oil didnt put the cap back on my engine and left it on the top lip of my hood. I shouldve checked my car before leaving but this almost caused me to need an engine replacement.Ive had my inspection done twice before this incident at Colonial which is why I gave 2 instead of 1 stars.
Steve and Chris run a great business which takes care of their customers! The rest of the staff is awesome too!
I was very satisfied with the service at this place of business. Customer service was great and well appreciated....Keep up the good work !
They got me in and out Great from the young man at the Counter didnt catch his name but I will be back
Great serving took my 15 outback to get some brakes and an oil change Aaron was very and extremely helpful and profession. Very friendly and welcoming attitudes would’ve very much recommend you take your car to get service here if I could rate 10/5 I would.
My wife and I took both of our cars into Colonial Tire for different issues and each time we found the staff friendly and the service was exceptional. Good prices, too. Its hard to find all that these days, especially with mechanics. So now that we have, Colonial will be the place we bring our cars for servicing.
Had my brakes worked on they did a good job! Theyve done work on my car before and thats why I went back! Check them out!
These guys has always done right by me and made sure that me and my family are safe when it comes to our personal vehicles. They have work on every last car that I have own. Chris, Aaron, Lucas, Roy and Daniel are great guys and the are like family to me. Thank you guys for all that you do and more👍🏾😁
Came in today with my daughters 2007 Kia Spectra and Chris went above and beyond helping me install her rear brake light. If you need any services done with the friendly smile with a mask of course please come here these guys are awesome.
I take all my vehicles here, they are fair and honest. Aaron is great to deal with and always makes sure my service vehicle gets back on the road quickly.
Going out of town tomorrow called 4 other shops all told me tomorrow at the earliest they squeezed me in ASAP so I could get my car inspected and get to the DMV after I got off work before the DMV closed.AMAZING!!! They even had to walk across the parking lot and it made me feel bad but it was just amazing service.Thank yall again!!! My trip is on schedule still now.
Great shop with good technicians. Came in for an oil change. Told them about loud road noise. Found out one of my tires had a broken belt. Turns out this is a dangerous issue if ignored could cause a blown tire.
They provided a service very reasonably even with every opportunity to price gouge. Highly recommend.
Awesome service always a great experience. They go above and beyond to provide top notch service. Treat you like family.
Great customer service! They tell you what you need to know but dont heckle you to get what will cost more if not critical. And will suggest what will be best for less. Also unlike some places they tell you about their specials instead of you having to print out and prove what you saw on their website. They also keep you posted on where they are during the process while you wait.
I took my car to a dealership who wanted to charge me $250 for something that could have been fixe dby pliers and glue. I took my car here instead. They explained what was going on, demonstrated how simple it was to fix, and sent me on my way with a more than fair price. I will definitely be back!
I’ve been taking my vehicles here for years and have never been disappointed! The guys here are very professional and give quality service. The turnaround time with the service was very quick.
We just moved to the area and needed a shop to keep our beloved, but aging, Subaru on the road. The guys at Colonial stepped up and showed their true colors!! Quality work, high integrity, and personal attention win every day. Check them out when you need help. . . theyll be there for you!
Appreciate Lucas, Aaron, Chris and the staff at Colonial T & A. They do a great job of managing the services for my familys vehicles. I would highly recommend.
Was highly recommended by a friend of mine.....Upon entering I was met by Chris and a technician of his whom took my concerns about my vehicle seriously. After test driving and placing on the lift, I was told the noise I had been hearing was from the rear brakes in which I needed new pads/rotors. Chris presented me with different cost effective options which I will be returning next week to get the work completed.Thank you Chris and your team for making my first experience with your company a great one!!!
Great team. I made a mistake they could have charged me for and did not. Good communication. Location is easy to access.
Very honest! When I damaged my car, they could have made up a number of issues to charge me for, and they did not. Honest, quick and good work done here.
This is the only place to go in Durham. The best service every time. My favorite people, honest quotes and great service. Highly Recommend.
Got a same day state inspection without an appointment. Excellent service.
I’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with these guys for tire work; and everyone I know who has gone here says basically the same. For me, after a new set of tires, a few puncture repairs, tpms issues, etc I have no complaints about anything they’ve done for me. Friendly and straight forward people. Chris is awesome. Definitely recommended.
I have been a customer at Colonial Tire and Automotive for over 8 years. Ron is professional and very knowledgeable. He is definitely a great asset. If you’re in searchfor tires, brakes and automotive repair, lookno further because there is no better place. This is the most fair and honest automotiverepair facility that I’ve ever encountered.Last, but not least, kudos to Drew for his great service and support as always.
Colonial did a fine job with a new set of tires but tried to sell me a good deal of unnecessary work. When I declined, I was told I would get far with the problems they wanted to fix for me. Well, I checked and most of what they recommended was clearly in fine shape. (ie, a valve cover spewing oil - its not leaking, and a power steering pump just pouring out fluid - its not.) Be aware if you head here and get a second opinion before jumping on their recommendations.
Good honest people that we have used for years. Chris, the owner, is great to deal with. They are knowledgeable and have good mechanics.
Just got back from popping in to Colonial Tire to get an inspection during lunch. The experience was one of the best Ive had at a Tire Shop. The employees were extremely nice and accomodating. I was in and out of there in not even 30 minutes. 10/10 would recommend them to others and use them again myself.
My husband and I just moved to N.C. and needed to have our cars inspected. They took us right away and it was the fastest service we’ve ever received. The staff and owner provided exceptional service. We will definitely be going back for all our car service needs!
I went to Colonial for an alignment, as I have done three times prior, with good results. The technician I knew would point out worn bushings and I would fix it and take it back and they would do the alignment. This time I was told by a different technician I needed new control arms and that was why my tire tread was uneven. I was quoted $2000.00 and that included the alignment. I said no to the control arms with the intent to do them myself. When my wife picked up the car they charged us for the alignment because they said they did it before they noticed the control arms.
I spent the better part of 3 days searching for tires trying to find the best deal. Hearing different things from each vendor was getting frustrating. Talking with Kevin and Chris at Colonial was different. They searched for the best price and gave me an out the door quote. When I called back and told them a competitor had beat their price, they took it personally. Not only did they match that price, they beat it! When I came in later that day they were friendly and quick. Most importantly, when I went to pay, the price was 3 dollars UNDER what they had quoted me on the phone. No haggling necessary! Ill definitely be back!
Clean shop, nice waiting area, and they went above and beyond to explain what work they were doing and why it needed to be done.
I took my vehicle in for an inspection. Despite having an appointment I was there for nearly an hour and half. But thats not the reason for the this review. The bigger problem was that after the inspection I was told the engine was leaking oil and the valve cover needed to be replaced at a cost of $300 to fix the issue. I declined. I checked the engine when I got home and there was only a thin layer of normal engine grime on and around the valve cover. There was absolutely no sign of leaking oil. Nor was there any sign of an oil stain in the driveway under the engine as would be expected for any oil leak. Even if there had of been a leak at the valve cover the fix would be to replace the inexpensive valve cover gasket, not the expensive valve cover itself (unless the cover was warped or damaged, but that was obviously not the case here). While I was waiting for the inspection to finish I overheard two other customers being quoted expensive repairs for a problem the mechanic had just discovered (i.e., something other than what the vehicle was brought in for). In one case, the customer called her husband to ask what to do and it was clear from the conversation that he was sure the problem described was highly unlikely and told his wife to decline the repair. I cant know whether those two problems were legitimate and I thought nothing of it at the time. But after I was told I needed a new valve cover it made me wonder about those other two customers. Reading the other negative reviews here I see my experience was not an isolated case. I dont like leaving a negative review, but I felt my experience was egregious enough to warrant leaving this as a warning for others.
Service was awesome, Id recommend them to everyone.
The guys here are honest and prices fair. They will tell you if you DONT need a repair, which is great.
I recommend Colonial Tire to anyone who wants good work at a good price. Last year they made an emergency repair when I was in a jam. This week they did twice the work Hendrick had quoted - for about half the price! I will close by adding that I trust them.
I would give them 0 stars, but Google forces at least one, which in my opinion is way too high. My car was stolen, so I called the shop to determine what steps I needed to take to get money back for my vehicle. They told me that they wouldnt do anything. They werent under any obligation to reimburse me for my property because I had taken too long to make a decision on the work that they said we needed to get done. The reason I was taking so long is because they told me that my car needed a new engine, and I was trying to find another shop to get a second opinion after my vacation. The most interesting part was that I had my vehicle looked at not long before that and the other shop didnt mention the engine at all. Needless to say this organization has lost a customer for life, and if you plan on taking your car there, you should beware.
Ive had nothing but great experiences every time Ive been to Colonial Tire, and the same is true for multiple friends of mine (Ive started referring everyone there.) Ive specifically interacted with Kevin the times Ive been there, and he is always kind and earnest. He takes the time to explain repairs and why they need to be done, and is understanding and ready to offer options when my budget is tight. Ive never encountered this sort of honesty and good faith in an auto shop, especially when it is so easy for shops to pull one over on those without much automotive knowledge. Ill definitely remain a customer at Colonial as long as Im in the Triangle!
Colonial is the only place I take my competition vehicle to for alignments. Theyre consistent, precise, and repeatable. Their alignment tech really does care about doing it right, and takes pride in his work. Even better, theyre very well priced. Theyve also done excellent, quick work mounting and dismounting race tires for me.Very friendly people, even the technicians in the back are friendly and outgoing.Theyre an honest shop, doing great work at very fair prices. A real diamond in the rough.
Colonial Tire is awesome! There are plenty of other options in the area, but I choose Colonial Tire for all of my car service needs. They are quick, friendly, affordable, and they provide a wonderful service experience. I live a few minutes down the road and will most certainly be coming back for all of my vehicle needs. They also have an amazing waiting area with a flat screen, comfy couches, and coffee. Thanks Colonial Tire!!
As someone who despises getting any work done on my car, Colonial is literally the only place Ive ever not dreaded going to for auto-needs. Their prices are good, work is done well, and incredible customer service is unbeatable. I became a customer because of their reviews and can truthfully say that they exceeded my expectations. Chris and Kevin are friendly, respectful, and knowledgeable and know how to build a faithful customer base. Well be going back for all of our auto-care needs. Thank you to the entire Colonial Team!
Excellent and knowledgeable group of guys!
Its always a Great Day at colonial tire. These guys are very professional, friendly, and most important knowledgeable with respect, as a young lady, I greatly appreciate that. Never had an issue and they are my number one place. Even though I live far away, Ill still make the trip for people I trust.
Great place. Went and got my car inspected, very reasonably priced, even with a windshield wiper replacement. Everyone was sooo nice and accommodating. Will definitely be going back in the future!
Fantastic service! They were friendly, honest and happy to explain everything they did to fix my car. I highly recommend them! Plus they offer a discount to EPA employees.
My service maintenance which is engine oil change was quick which took me only about 30 min. in the service center. The person that assisted me was very professional.
Great Experience with both cars. Ron was extremely helpful and figured out solutions to keep costs down on the repairs. All were done on time and as quoted. Will continue to use their services!
If I could give colonial tire & automotive a -10 stars, believe me I would. I use to be a regular customer until they started breaking things on my vehicles & informed me it was not their fault. also every time I went there to have an old change or tire rotation, they ALWAYS said I needed extra work done (expensive work.) So my son recommended Konrad Automotive. A. Konrad does amazing car repairs. they tell you upfront the cost. I give Konrad 100 STARS.
Fast, friendly and family orientated. staff make your satisfaction and waiting accommodations top propriety, Ive had nothing but great experiences with this location for years. Most important THE PRICES ARE VERY REASONABLE!!!
Went to and called a few different Auto Shops around the area because I had to get my front two tires changed and not miss work. Most places were either too busy or charged way too much. I was a little upset that they only did new tires, but I also found out most of the other places around here are the same. They were able to work with me and reduce the price to a reasonable amount. Very nice guys were are flexible and willing to help you. Also gave me a ride back and forth from work so I wouldnt miss too much of the day.
After exploring a multitude of places for help on choosing tires, Colonial was hands down the kindest and most helpful place. They have the lowest prices I have seen for mounting tires and aligning your wheels. I highly recommend running by the store if you need any help towards anything tire related.
The entire staff is genuine and honest, specifically referring to Ron. He told me what i needed in order to be driving safely - even helped me find the correct parts so that i could do the work myself. They treated me like family! They’ve earned my business for life.
Good people; great service.
Every time I come here I walk away feeling like I got a really excellent deal. These people are kind, caring, and considerate. On top of being affable, the work is solid and the recommendations never leave us feeling cheated. Weve referred friends and family and they refer too.
Great work and Edison is a fantastic alignment pro. I took my wifes Lexus to two other shops prior to get the steering wheel straightened unsuccessfully and these guys knocked it out in 15 minutes. Very good alignment rates compared to others in town as well.
Had my car serviced here today and was very pleased with everything from start to finish! Customer service superb coupled with reasonable price! Ladies, trusted turn key service! My mechanics for sure!
These guys are fantastic. I wouldnt take my car anywhere else in Durham for servicing. Fast, friendly and unbelievably reasonable prices and trustworthy to boot! I would highly recommend Colonial Tire & Automotive.
Amazing service! Not pushy like most shops Ive been to in the past. I need to have more work done, that I was aware of, but they also brought it to my attention without hassling me about it. I highly, HIGHLY recommend them and will take my car there from now on, and you should to.
Came in with my own pads and rotors and they got them on no problem. Great price quote! Will return.
I walked in and told them exactly what I needed. They quickly identified the products I needed, gave me a fair price and said they could have the job done in under 2 hours. No BS. No haggling or trying to upsell things I dont need. Great place.
I feel like i got ripped off. Went there to get car inspected and oil change and they told me i needed two front tires and the type of vehicle i drive requires all tires to be within a certain number of each other so they quoted me $900.00 for 4 new tires because of the car i drive. I brought the tires but I dont feel they were honest. I just didnt have any other time off. Now, my car is leaking oil and im taking it back there because it was not leaking beforehand. We will see how that goes. They supposedly did an oil change. Will update
I highly recommend this auto care center for all services. I have used them for a basic oil change, A/C repair and tire rotation and serviced. Used for my work truck and personal vehicle. Excellent customer service that reminds you of extended family, people you can trust. Ron will greet you at the front and get the information.Casey will come out and discuss any issues with the vehicle with you and then solve it.Kalan also assisted me with a few tire questions and took me on the test drive for a noise that concerned me, but turned out to be a simple issue.I am happy to be their customer and I appreciate and value their approach to car care and customer service.
I Love doing business with Colonial Tire,The staff is Always Pleasant, Service is Great, Anything service I need done on my vehicle, Im Confident that the job will get done Top Notch! Just ask for Kevin,He will Definitely make sure you are taking care of.
I was driving around on a leaky spare and needed 2 new rear tires for my car. The folks at Colonial Tire not only gave me a reasonable price, but they also fixed my spare free of charge! Customer service was great, staff was knowledgeable, and my wait time was less than an hour. Ill be back!
The staff at Colonial Tire are amazing...great customer service and attention to detail. I so appreciate the professionalism of Kevin as he arranged to have me shuttled to work while the repairs were being done on my vehicle.
The owner and the staff are honest. The mechanics and top mechanic here know what they are doing and have great maintenance advise to keep car rolling without drawing your pockets. I hold no reservations to refer anyone to Colonial Tire Automotive. I have trusted them with my BMW and continue to.
Excellent customer service. They actually helped me save some money by being honest about what I needed to and didnt need to repair! I will definitely be a return customer.
Great experience working with Kevin and the team at Colonial Tires. Very fast process getting the tires installed. Great price and service. Certainly recommend them.
Called today to get a price on 4 tires and was quoted 580-700.00 for my Odyssey. I’ve used this business since 2010 and they did not seem to care. Asked Chris about new ownership or if they were doing business differently, was told no it’s just the size of my tire. In fact, I know that it’s their mark up that is the problem and their lack of customer service now lost a customer and also made me feel strongly enough to leave a review. I know tires have a huge mark up and it’s sad to me that my business is no longer important. This same place has helped me before and it saddens me to have this occur.
This is the shop to go to. Excellent staff and service
Love the staff here, always welcoming. And they take really great care of my Fusion. I dont go anywhere else for oil changes to major work. They know me and my car by name :)
In summary, I dont know if they assumed a guy in business attire didnt know (and worked on) his cars, or if the mechanic falsified his report to drive up revenue, or if Ron was trying to cover for him or really doesnt know much about ball joints. Regardless, I do not plan on coming back.I gave it two stars because they are relatively friendly, and were quicker than other shops have been in the past to get my car in and get started (even with an appointment). The full story is below.I stopped in earlier this week for a vehicle inspection. Ron (who I think is a service manager) came out to me to tell me of two issues they found. The following conversation is near verbatim. Ron tells me Your lower right front ball joint is really bad, its about to come apart. Its dangerous to drive on. We can fix that for you. My lower ball joint? Yes, lower right front, it can be very dangerous. Weird. I just replaced all the control arms on both sides 6 months ago, and they came with new ball joints. Ill contact the manufacturer to get replacements. slight pause Oh, uh, well, this is really dangerous, you shouldnt drive on it. Well tighten it up for you, no charge.Id like to pause the exchange here for a moment for anyone who is not mechanically inclined. You CAN NOT tighten a ball joint! I dont know if Ron misspoke (a pretty big one, too), or what. But my confidence in his knowledge of cars, the knowledge of the mechanics doing the inspection, or worse, their integrity, went to zero. I didnt push the issue by asking to be shown, because there was no charge involved, and I could easily check it when I went home.Continuing our conversation, he told me I failed the inspection due to my serpentine belt being cracked. Okay, this is plausible, that belt has been on the car since I bought it ~2 years ago, and it was a used car. For that very fact, some months ago I had bought a replacement belt (along with other spare parts). So I declined Rons offer to replace it, saying Id just put on my replacement when I got home, and return the next day for the re-inspection.After our exchange, Ron was not very engaging in conversation, but maybe whatever he was working on behind the service desk just required his attention.I paid my fee, and left. That night when I arrived home, I took the belt off... saying it was cracked was a stretch. I had to really flex the belt and stare to see any cracks in the ribs. I put on the new belt, then jacked my car up to inspect the ball joints. I did find that the UPPER ball joint boot had torn, but none were loose, and certainly none were on the edge of failing. The following day I returned. When they pulled my car into the bay, I walked around the outside so I could watch what these guys were going to do. They opened the hood and two mechanics looked around under the hood for ~3 minutes before both waking away. ~8 minutes later one of them returned, buttoned my car up, and pulled it around. No shenanigans, I guess they are just slow typists (DMV computer to put in the re-inspection).Ron was much more engaging as I came back into the office, and thanked me for coming back.
Excellent customer service.
GREAT SERVICE
Great service in and out. Was traveling and Russell got me in and out. Ty very much guys
Car was aligned and balanced by Colonial. Rod gave us a special attention. I recommend this place.
I have been going to this shop for several years now. They are great with finding the problem and getting it fixed as promised. I highly recommend also because I have yet to bring a car back for repeat issue.
The best service area in town. They do quality work. Their prices beat the dealership every time and Chris is Amazing!!!
Always a joy working with these folks! Im pretty particular about who I let work on my truck and these guys always do a great job for a great price and get me in and out quickly. Service is with a smile and very professional. This is my exclusive one stop shop for anything automotive.
Perfect and quick service. Good prices. Kevin is very knowledgeable and thrustworthy. They have a shuttle service, offered me to take me home and back during the rapairs were done. I recommend Colonial Tire Durham to all my family and friends.
Great staff and great service! They do a great job and are very friendly. I definitely recommend coming.
Great place, friendly customer service, fair prices! Very comfortable waiting room with free WIFI
Kevin was awesome at the front desk very friendly and knowledgeable!!! He also offered to beat the price of competition!! Overall my experience was great!!
Incredible team - Ron and his team have worked on my 03 Mustang quite a few times now and its always been a pleasure.
Went in for my inspection and was told it failed because of 2 front tires. Confused, I asked them to show me. Went out back to be told well ok it does pass, but....That was alarming. If I had not gone back to check would they have failed me?Then requested a quote for 4 new tires, reached out to Mr Tire at the same time. The two quotes came back FOR THE EXACT SAME TIRES.Colonnial $480 plus taxMr Tire $240 plus taxSo yeah - I will never ever go back, and would advise anyone who does not wish to pay double the cost for everything to avoid the place too.Such a shame to think youve found a place you can trust, only for have them try TWICE to completely rip you off.
After a miscommunication that left me with a bad taste in my mouth, I was contacted by Kevin at Colonial Tire in an attempt to regain my business. I made an appointment with him for an oil change and a tire rotation for the following day. When I arrived, they were extremely friendly and helpful. I did not wait any time at all for my car to be pulled in to be serviced. There was no pressure to buy services that I did not ask for or were not needed. I would definately recommend using them for your car repair and tire service needs. Two thumbs up!
Wont go anywhere else but here for my car. Lovely gentleman and express limitless amounts of patience. Thank you Ron and Mike :)
I went in for an oil change. The entire staff was awesome! I normally go to Lexus Dealership but because of the great customer service this is my 2nd service here. Little wait time I was in and out. I would like to specifically say thanks to Chris, Kevin, and Antowon for ensuring I had great service. Thanks you guys ROCK!!!
I got in there with a tire emergency at 4:30 p.m. and Ron the manager had me out of there before 5:30 with an alignment and two new tires it was an awesome experience!
Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. Will be returning.
These guys are awesome. Theyre honest and do great work. Highly recommend them
They know what they are doing, respect appointments made and are courteous. No need to both with any of the other tire shops within a 10+ mile radius.
Driving down from Canada I had a balancing problem with my new tires and rims (bought in Canada). I took the vehicle to Colonial Tire and they rebalanced the tires for me. There was still a vibration present and they spent more time trying to resolve the problem, finally concluding that it may be a rim problem. Despite all of their efforts, they refused to charge me for their time. Chris, the mamger, was very helpful and understanding throughout the process. I would most certainly use their services again and would highly recommend them to others in Durham.
I was in need of a tire nothing expensive and Kevin at Colonial was helpful and able to beat competitors price. Nice and fast paced, I will definitely be returning if I ever need another tire.
I popped in to get some work done on my Saturn ION and they took me right in. Took all day to get the work done, but I didnt mind. They did excellent work and I have no problem recommending them to anyone!
