I imagine working at/for USPS is a lot of stress with tight delivery dates and anxious customers. Its not always perfect, but I trust they are doing their best. Shout out to the 99% of the time it arrives safely and inexpensively.
I wish I could give a 0 star rating. I am blown away by how horrible the employees of this office are at their jobs. I had a package coming from my parents today that required a signature & when I checked my informed delivery app it said that delivery was attempted for the package but there was no recipient to sign. I went out to my mailbox and sure enough there was a delivery attempted notice. I have been home all day listening for the door and no one knocked. I understand that I may have been distracted and just missed the knock or doorbell ring but we have a ring camera and NO ONE CAME TO OUR DOOR TODAY!! So no, there wasnt a delivery attempted!! The laziness of these USPS employees is absolutely absurd and they are an embarrassment to the USPS office here in Durango. I shouldnt have to take time out of my day to drive to the post office & try picking up a package that my parents paid extra to have signed at delivery TO MY HOUSE. To make the whole situation worse I have tried calling the USPS office multiple times and the line will either just ring and ring or it will be busy and then just hang up on me. I cant even talk to anyone about having that package redelivered. Im so sick of the unprofessionalism displayed by this USPS office!!!
Saturday 10 am there was no line. PO had all the products to box and mail 3 express packages. Clerk was friendly and efficient, gave me mailing options. Took less than 5 minutes.
Delivery service in DW2 is certainly subpar. I’ve had large packages containing books, etc. that were shoved into my little box to the point where I could not get them out. I’ve had two books ruined because of this. Today, I got a delivery that was obviously. dropped by this wonderful carrier, and she wrapped the package up in plastic and still delivered it. See picture. This is fully unacceptable. I’m now out the $116 that this delivery cost me. Get it together with your customer service. Yes, this was actually how it was delivered. Seriously poor poor unacceptable service.
If I could give the phone service 0 Stars I would give it 0 Stars. The automated messaging system is rigged so you can never talk to a human being! I moved into my apartment back in July and have had issues with opening my mailbox since then. Yesterday upon arriving home I found my partner attempting to open our mail box but our key no longer goes into the mailbox key hole, which it fully inserts into the other mailboxes just not ours it will go less than a quarter of the length in that it should. There is no option on the automated messaging system that says issues with opening my mailbox. So I spent 30 minutes on the phone trying to tell it I need a human being an agent to which the voice told me it would be faster for her to help me but there is no way she can help me! Especially after already spending 30 minutes with it repeating the same options that dont say having issues with opening your mailbox?. Then when she finally directed me to the agent it would be an hour long wait time! I dont have an hour to spend on the phone just to be hung up on, I have clients to help that I cant cancel on. The place literally opened when I called, its set up for you to not call. Never calling again. Now I have to cancel a client in order for me to go to the post office in person just to tell them the mailbox wont let any of the four keys I have in, as if its locked the keys out! This is not the kind of stress I need when waiting for a package that could already be in the mailboxes just downstairs. The USPS needs to get their act together, it is unacceptable for a client to be dealing with this kind of issue. I just want access to my mail!
The Durango PO has about a 2 star rating. If you were going to buy an important item, would you buy it from someone with 2 stars. Why cant the postal system fix their problems. If you look at the USPS ratings for Farmington, Aztec, Santa Fe and Gallup NM, all of these USPS facilities appear to be incompetent, or at least their ratings suggest that fact. The main problem is the lack of considerate customer service.
I just want to say I am extremely disappointed in this post office. I am a paying customer for a private post office box, and the last 2 weeks that I have gone to get my mail, the door has been locked. This is a huge inconvenience, and its not right, considering that your customers are PAYING for their mailboxes and dont even have access to them. And after 8pm? What about us who dont get off work until really late? I think you need to reconsider keeping the mailbox area open for your customers, longer than 8pm and not locking us out of our entitled mailboxes on holidays either, and maybe even discounting the cost of the boxes. I came up there today, before 8pm, and the doors were locked. Terrible service. Oh, and not to mention the rude service Ive received several times from a couple of your workers. I am considering closing my box just because of this inconvenience.
Every time I go to this Post Office, the staff are kind, happy, and friendly towards me. I have never felt like my questions werent able to be answered, or that I wasnt welcome! Be nice to the staff- they are giving it their best at a high demand job.

Currently expecting a package that USPS states they delivered 4 days ago. I have tracking # but no package. My address is on my mailbox and can easily be read. What’s up? Staff were very Snappy at people for simple things that come with their job. Rolling eyes almost barking at people. All of the people up front were just rude. Mailman is a real cool dude and the other guy is alright...but I will do all I can to not use the post office in the future.
I have been at my new address for one month. I have received other apartment numbers’ mail 12 times this month. I’ve had two packages that say delivered in my parcel mailbox (combined worth of $800) and neither packages are there. Furthermore I haven’t received any keys from my trash mailman to even open my parcel locker. PLEASE TRAIN YOUR MAIL CARRIERS OR HIRE PEOPLE THAT CAN READ OR KNOW NUMBERS SO WE FONT GET THE WRONG MAIL AND ACTUALLY RECEIVE OUR OWN MAIL. You are the worst post office imaginable. The phone number for your office doesn’t even work. Get your act together please because you have cost me lots of money and stress.
THIS LOCATION DOES THINGS HOWEVER THEY WANT. I CANT EVEN GET A PO BOX DESPITE HAVING ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS LISTED ON THE WEBSITE! You know for being known for delivering mail USPS always doesn’t deliver on time, I live about 2 miles away from the office so not out of town and yet I can get a package in time? I always use UPS and never had a problem even ordering hockey sticks and hockey skates. Absolute joke
In the past month, the Durango Post office has lost mail going to my PO Box, and on two other occasions in the past week, refused to deliver packages to my address. On both of those occasions we had tracking numbers that said they attempted to deliver but were unable to get to the address. Thats not even possible for them to not be able to get here and they were still able to deliver my junk mail?!?! On both occasions I was home and know there was no obstruction of any sort stopping them from delivering the parcels. Additionally, there was another situation when they put my mail from the IRS in my neighbors mailbox. He didnt know he had it and it caused me hundreds in fines that I was unable to fight, because I didnt respond back in time to their initial contact. What was I supposed to do? Go the IRS and tell them that it was USPSs fault? Even though it actually was, that probably wouldnt have mattered much and I had no way of proving it without dragging my neighbor into it. I want to support the USPS, but Durango Post Office sucks so horribly bad, from now on Ill pay extra to have it delivered by UPS.
Always have a good experience at this branch. Friendly, helpful people. And when my new neighborhood needed to get set up to receive mail, one of the employees gave me a great contact at the GIS office that got it taken care of quickly.
This post office was upstanding. We had an awful mix up with a very important Amazon package and Yo (the most wonderful postal worker you will ever find) helped us sort everything right out without any cost or hassle. She went above and beyond. We are so thankful for the service we received at this office. The building was clean, the staff was all friendly, they had good music to enjoy while you waited (which was not a long time), and they will really do whatever it takes to be helpful.
Absolutely rude staff. Cant bother to stock the forms so you wait in line to get the form then get told to have a good day and get to the back of the line.One of the few publicly funded operations that should be replaced
Cari is the most incompetent worker I have ever experienced. She has cancelled 4 appointments on me with no notice till I arrived and they inform me she went home early. She doesnt care about others times and canceled my photo appointment too for my passport because She is unable to take a photo
Went in to usps on 8th ( 81301) to my son, whom is deployed to Japan. I was hoping for some help when I got to the counter. That is exactly opposite of what I got. These are some of the rudest unhelpful condescending people and be come into contact with for a very long time. I don’t normally write reviews, but this shook me. Will literally go to any other post office now.

Worst service Ive ever experienced, and thats saying a lot for the USPS! First of all, our neighborhood mail carrier refuses to deliver to our (legitimate) address because he doesnt want to deliver to an alley address? Totally not legal! This forced us to get a post office box. Secondly, one of the women in the office decided she was going to make our life difficult in getting our post box by repeatedly giving us misinformation on what required to obtain our post box making both my wife and I take time off in the middle of our work day to bring the required documents, which we did but still dont have our post box at this time. Its unfortunate that the USPS has tainted Durangos super friendly reputation.
The parking lot is a nightmare! With what the government gives them the employees seem to do their best. The carriers on the other hand cant seem to get it together to deliver small packages out of town . Also had a very difficult time when my address changed. They held it at the PO for a month! I didnt know until later they sent a letter to new address but no mail
Never helpful. Very angry if you ask questions. Mail never delivered to correct addresses and no acceptable reason why. Put in a complaint to the main post office and they forwarded it back to Durango which nothing happened. If there was a choice of no star, I would pick it.

This place is terrible. The customer servicepeople at the counter do all they can NOT to help you. The only good representative is Yolanda but if shes at lunch or on break, you are stuck with nasty, unfriendly people. God forbid you should express your frustration with their made up rules. They are so nasty and the post office should train them on how to treat customers. You go to their site to file a complaint and they dont even respond. They could care less about customers or business. Their attitiude sucks and its no surprise that the post office as a whole is in the red. Just because you work for the government and are miserable you should not pass it on to your customers. Someone needs to look at this place. TERRIBLE customer service. You cant even call it that because it is of no service.
This negative rating is not due to any personnel issues with this specific p.o, its just the post office in this country as a whole. I cant contact anyone for anything, the automated calling to talk to a robot is a joke, the website which appears to have many helpful functions, doesnt work and is inoperable. Sad :(
Consistently mark packages as delivered without actually delivering them until days later, especially if they are supposed to arrive on a weekend. If you’re not going to deliver it, don’t scan it.

FYI. The website and the automatic phone system lie. Even though both say walk-ins are fine, you absolutely must have an appointment to get a passport. If you show up without an appointment, you will be rudely informed that you cannot get a password without an appointment.
Great post office. Every time I call I get a good response. Most of the people here try hard to help you. There is only one Native American Female employee here I do not care for at the kiosk. The rust are very help, kind and respectful. Local phone number is 247-3434
Emailed a complaint about how our mail was being handled /delivered and was called the next day by a very kind gentleman with the Durango post office. He seemed to genuinely care and came up with a solution to try very quickly. Great service for me!
Heres a short list of things Id rather do than deal with the customer service people at this post office: eat a bowl of broken glass, wait in line at the DMV for 12 hours just to be told you have to go back to the end of the line because you forgot form UB40, get caught in my own zipper, root canal with no Novocain.Also,lets not forget the blank stares when youre the next person in line, buteverybody tries to pretend they dont see you...Sad Sad Sad place.
Not only did I have to file THREE change-of-address follow-ups, they STILL continued to send important mail to the old address--and it was never forwarded. A consistent (the only thing they do) dont care attitude while youre waiting: theyll engage in chit-chat with a customer over anything and everything long after business has been finished. They also dont carry standard large size priority boxes--which Ive found in the smallest facilities Ive used in other states. Feels like the employees just collect a paycheck and dont give a damn.
I have lived at the same address for almost two years now, and I cant even count how many times they have delivered my mail, including packages, to the East street instead of West, where I live.We have also received mail that goes to the East side numerous times. The postal delivery workers have one job: read an address and deliver the mail to that address. I should not have to rely on the good nature of a random individual to ensure my mail is delivered to me.I have no way to know how much of my mail is not delivered to my house, unless there is a tracking number or someone writes wrong address on it and it is re-delivered. This service is unacceptable.
The people who work here are pleasant enough, especially Andrew who answers the phone if you can get the number. However, in the two mo this we’ve been here, we’ve had quite a few delays and now have had a very special package lost. Calling USPS doesn’t help either, they say they’ll get a case number for me. A lot of help that does for my two kids who were so excited to receive the gifts they purchased for themselves after working really hard and for a long time, only to have the packages lost or left at a neighbors on a Saturday...so nothing can even be done about it until Tuesday. That’s a somewhat unfathomable time to a child who essentially lost their paycheck through no fault of their own. And why is customer service for USPS being outsourced in Trump’s America? When I call Amazon, the reps are Americans. They replaced the package and sent it out again. I walked into the Durango post office once last year, before we lived here, to get General Delivery and they tried giving me a bicycle package that wasn’t mine. :(
Sent a package and the lady was friendly and helpful. It was a busy post office too, but they had three people working the counter so didnt have to wait long.
The absolute worst service EVER! I called to see why the driver wouldnt pick up our outgoing mail when they would deliver our incoming mail, and the customer service person said that I had to call in each time I needed mail picked up. Seriously??? Isnt that a mail carriers job? So, I told them at that point to go ahead and put in the information that we needed to do a daily pick up of mail, and after my 4th request, they still wont pick up our outgoing mail, but they will deliver it. I just dont understand... how hard it is to pick up outgoing mail when you have to deliver to that address anyway??? How frustrating and inconvenient. And, I wouldnt even give them one star, but I had to in order to be able to post my comment.

What a worthless piece of flotsam. I have NEVER suffered such derelict mail service in my 66 plus years of life. Our carrier is not to blame, however, someone needs to step up and get our mail delivery sometime reasonable, like before 6 PM. I mean really? Is that asking for to much?
We just ordered Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes and the person on the phone couldnt have been any nicer! Thank you, we lover our Durango Post Office.
Continuously lose important mail and they have even lost a package before. Also when they do get my mail to me, it is usually delivered to my neighbors even though my apartment number is clearly labeled on my door and my mailbox. I have even talked to the postmaster and it still happens.
Lisa was great. She helped me solve some problems I was having with our service. Im not sure why all the harsh words here. Post offices are not much fun, and there has always been a wait everywhere Ive ever been. Durango is no different, so just plan accordingly if you have business to do there. Its a post office, not McDonalds.
If I could give less than one star I would. My mail is consistently delivered damaged and smashed into my mail box, even if its the only piece of mail in there. Its like the carrier wads it up into a ball and then stuffs it in to my mail box. Not only that but every time I visit the post office I wait in line for at least half an hour and most of the staff are rude, slow, and disinterested.

Yeah the wait can be very long some times, but the staff is very helpful and respectful. The post office where I live in Farmington is extremely rude and very unpleasant. I drive to Durango once a week just to avoid my local post office
Sure they can be nice if youre just buying stamps or shipping but dont expect some of them to read an address correctly or not grumble and moan if they have to go look for a package. Theyre understaffed and not happy about it.
Pathetic. Claimed to have delivered packages two days in a row: neither showed up. I tried to call and their line was busy. Tried the 800 number, waited for a return call and when in came I got cut off. Called back and waited over half an hour before I gave up. AVOID. I told Amazon I dont want anything delivered by USPS.

I work for a commercial printer in town and have nothing but great things to say about Brian in the bulk mail department. If I ever have any questions or problems, he is extremely helpful and is always in a great mood.
Awful experiences every time. Almost weekly we receive incorrect mail or someone else is receiving OUR mail. No help at all when you call, the wait is an hour and when you try and email? their site is down. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Mail consistently goes missing or arrives days late (tracking shows it made it to Durango). Often something will show that it was delivered yet it doesnt get delivered until 1-3 days later.
Lazy and wont deliver a tiny package to your door so you have to come pick it up. Or theyll send it back from where it came stating your house doesnt exist.

Hands down, THE worst post office in the country. TRUE lazy and inept workers - they dont care, theyve lost my mail and internal WILL open your mail - I had a deposit mailed to my bank, someone slit the top open and then taped it up - caught who did it, too. THATS A FEDERAL OFFENCE.
Packages and kids cards go missing constantly. If there is no tracking you will never see it again... I’ve called and asked where my packages are and they are found open in the drivers truck... going on now 5 days of a package missing and being hung up on.

Had multiple packages that we sent out lost (aka stolen). Also had a package marked delivered yet dropped off at the completely wrong address.
Everything from the horribly designed parking lot to the always rude staff this place is awful, the place is unorganized, unclean and overall an awful experience every time i go here.
Our mail is arriving as late as 8:30 PM, and on a few occasions wasn’t delivered at all. The office is horribly understaffed, and I have been told the postmaster is not even hiring as many carriers as authorized. Whatever the reason, mail delivery this late is inexcusable.
Absolutely hate the service. Called to redirect my package, the woman on the phone tried telling me we haven’t changed our address when we have got our government mail, drivers license, and everything else at our new address AND did indeed change it there before. Asked if we could come in and show ID to pick up package and she said it would be sent back to the seller. Very passive aggressive with me and short.
