Absolutely great service! I called on a Friday expecting to be told Id have to wait until Monday for relief. To my surprise, Shumate assured me they would be out that afternoon. Long story short, our technician Will was kind, friendly and efficient. We were chilled and calm soon after. I understand they cant always be there when you need them but this time...they were. I use them not because they are the most affordable, but because they have always been on-time, do the work they say they will do, and do a quality job.Their handyman team built out my work office in my basement and I have been very happy with the results.Even in the rare cases where something has been missed, they come back and correct the issue.It is refreshing to find a company you can trust and rely on.

I had five faucets replaced in the bathrooms, a garbage disposal replaced, two toilets fixed and a pipe repaired that was leaking into the basement. Tyler was an exceptional plumber and worked enthusiastically for over five hours without a break. All this was done at a very reasonable price. I’m extremely satisfied with the service and would have Shumate back to my home in the future.

Its been a long time since I was stunned (in a good way) by the service I received from any company, but Shumate has gone above and beyond to keep my family loyal customers. We had an AC unit installed 10 months ago and while the unit itself had some issues - Shumate never hesitated to service and repair the unit in the utmost professional manner. They showed up on time, every time. Their staff is friendly and well-mannered, and I knew I could trust them in my home. When it was finally determined that AC unit needed to be replaced - this was no fault of theirs - not only did they do it in a timely, clean and orderly manner they also replaced it with a bigger and better unit than we originally purchased. I’ve never felt like a number, or just another customer dealing with them. My grievances were heard and addressed and then more than adequately rectified. Shumate made me feel as though the issues we were experiencing mattered to them and they did not rest until we were comfortable with the solution. Shumate has a loyal customer in me and I cannot recommend them enough.

Shumate replaced our broken water heater today. Yesterday, we noticed water coming out of our old water heater around 4pm. I called Shumate and they came out at 9am the next day. Very prompt and professional service. The technician was nice, on time, and performed the work at a professional level. Shumate is not the cheapest option out there, but do you really want to use the cheapest option on a system that you rely on every single day? You get exactly what you pay for, and for someone that was on a tight budget, the cost was well worth it.

The Shumate serviceperson Robert came at my request this morning to repair/replace my water heater. He arrived on time, and was courteous, professional, and showed deference for my time. He did not try to oversell me, but simply re-set my water heater pilot, and explained how to relight it if it went off in the future. He was excellent.

Both A/C compressors went out due to loss of electrical contact.My Painting contractors had stepped on the electrical feed to one unit, pulling a contact loose and causing intermittent shorting.The Shumate representative was very good. Diagnosed and corrected the issue quickly. Air Conditioning went out on the hottest day of the Summer. With our options to cool down limited (our pool was not open!), I called Shumate, desperate for some relief for the family.Shumate was out and the repair was done - and HVAC blowing cold again literally within a few hours.Their AC team is solid.

They want to charge separate $85.00 trip charge for heat and and another $85.00 for ac even though they are coming to the same house and only make one trip.

I had a system that was 18 years old replaced. The installers arrived early and were done in roughly 4.5 hours. Everything was done professionally and prompt. They have many divisions such as plumbing, electrical, and handyman so I will definitely use them for different things around my home.

Identify cause of problem: unit would not respond to thermostat. The technician was scheduled quickly, arrived on time, was friendly and knowledgeable. He identified and addressed the issue, and he explained what to do in the future to forestall a recurrence.

The plumber did not give my wife a price ahead of time. I thought $96 for a 10 min job might be a tad high. We would have gone ahead with the job if he had given us that price because they are dependable.

Our contact point was Shaun Hoover. I cant say enough good things about this company or Shaun. We had an AC/Gas heater and a water heater installed. As it sometimes happens, we had problems with the drain line. Super responsive and professional. The problem was fixed at no extra cost and very fast. I would recommend Shaun and Shumate without hesitation. A very good experience!

Lacked basic tools and knowledge to install 3 new bathroom sinks.Was told that I needed to contact the company that installed my new quartz countertops, to have a larger hole drilled before they could properly install the sinks. Had I listened to them, I would have had to replace the countertops.They cost me time and money. Also, not a great value. Overpaid for sub-par work and had to find a new plumber to finish the job. .Do not recommend.

I contacted Shumate last year when experiencing AC problems. Justin was the tech who came out and checked our system. I told him how rude the women at his office were to me on the phone when I called to setup the appointment and he informed me they get many complaints on them. He told me I could contact him directly going forward. We discussed new parts and repairs for our system, and things seemed to be on track. Then, Justin left the company. I called the main number and no one ever called me back, nor did anyone reach out to continue with our service as we had signed up for a maintenance schedule for a year with the company. After a month of no one getting back to us we contacted other companies and had Bardi come out and take care of all our issues. Shumate then sent me a bill today one year later for services they have never provided. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with.

Very professional, reliable, clean and trustworthy! I have been a customer now for several years. During this time I have owned several homes that I have used Shumate each time to help me. They have a great team that has helped me with plumbing and heating/air systems. I never have had to second guess the work and it is top quality each time. This included a new HVAC install, new toilet, replacing parts on toilets, maintenance contract for HVAC and a new hot water heater. They are always able to explain all the work and how it was completed as I am a very curious person so I ask several questions and they never get tired of helping me. I made a special trip to come in town and waited half a day on Shumate to install a part after receiving an email that a replacement part had arrived and that I needed to schedule an appointment to have it installed.I received a call late in the day that a mix up occurred and the part would not be installed. The woman was incredibly rude becoming argumentative and cutting me off on the phone after I explained I made a special trip in town to wait on Shumate to arrive to replace the part.She could not explain how the technician did not verify the part was on his truck before he started his day and why they didnt verify the part was in stock when the appointment was made.Sadly, after 20 years of patronage with Shumate, Im done and do not recommend them any longer. I would give 10 stars if I could! * * * * * * * * * *Shumate Plumbing Division sent out Rick Sosebee and his helper and they were both AMAZING! Very professional and friendly too.They installed a sewage extraction pump in our basement sump pit and tested everything to ensure it all worked perfectly before leaving. They cleaned everything up and did a very professional job! The wore masks for us which I know was miserable for them because of how hot it was but they never complained.I would recommend Shumate to everyone I know because they do quality work at a very affordable price!

Shumate has been around for a quite long time but they dont let that accomplishment get into their head as theyre very nimble, will do anything to satisfy the customer and work professionally. They were able to help with big projects such as redesigning duct work or plumbing and electric projects of sorts. They even sent their plumber technician on urgent plumbing repair on a late Friday evening from a far corner of the city to fix an urgent issue that 3 other plumbing companies didnt want to do only because it was a Friday. What I appreciated about the plumber/Shumate was the fact that they didnt take advantage of my desperate situation to price gauge; instead, they always present me with fair pricing, even in urgent cases where other competitors may have. Once you establish a long relationship with this company with an yearly maintenance plan, they will not forget you. Thats a trusted, mutual loyalty. It goes a long way - both ways.

I am updating my review after an excellent experience with Shaun, Tino and his team getting everything to a good state with our whole house dehumidifier. Thank you Shumate ! Also happy to hear you are incentivizing vaccinations for your crew. Hope everyone stays safe.We recently decided to install a new Daikin Fit Heat Pump due to our old Trane finally giving out. Shumate mechanical beat other estimates and was a good value. Shaun Hoover was especially impressive at explaining every detailing and at actually showing up at the installation and job site to help make sure our needs were met. Shaun managed everything very well and was very prompt with replies. At first, I was a bit amazed, because he did not follow the typical salesman pitch and was less talkative than most. At the same time, his proposal and the price provided was the very best. Once we did get into the details of the new system (and it was very new to me - I had never heard of Daikin and was a bit concerned about trying a new brand) he had all the material down or was able to quickly find those at Shumate who had the answers. We got quotes from other companies, including our previous HVAC system company, but they just could not compare. Now that the Daikin system is in place, we are, so far, happy with its performance. It definitely seems more powerful and really keeps the air nice and toasty. The most astonishing feature is the outdoor unit - side discharge and very quiet. What a difference compared to our 2005 Trane! The new Thermostat is nice - has a good mid century with intuitive technology. I would suggest a few changes to Daikin, including a feature that would allow one to keep a night mode that is completely dark without the need to change the screen saver to blank screen. I would also suggest they print out a thermostat user manual for every customer instead of relying on the PDF one has to find online (or they could automatically email you the PDF at each install). I havent seen the unit perform in our hot muggy summers and I will update this review about May or June with news on that. I do hope the dehumidification system works well. Right now, it seems, it is necessary for humidity to rise about 5% above ones desired range before the system does anything about it.There were a few things regarding installation that could have been improved. I did not really mind having to clean up and vacuum after the crew had left, but it would have been nice to have been asked if they could have done that for me. It was also no problem for me to clean up the plaster dust and saw dust around the new duct work and supply/returns. But, again, would have been nice for them to do that automatically. Also, there was some strapping of the duct work that was left hanging in our utility room. I did get that fixed as the truck was leaving. Also, the user manuals for air handler and system were simply left on the air handler. Would have been nice to know that or have those handed to me so I was not going in search of them in crawl space. It might be a good idea to institute a final walk through with customer before getting in the truck to leave. Also, a bit more help or availability regarding the thermostat and finishing touches (like painting and fixing around where the thermostat was sized and fixed) would have really been impressive. I got the feeling the crew was wanting to pack up, eat lunch and leave asap (especially after Shaun and Raymond had left the scene). The lack of care with cleaning up did concern me a bit regarding their attention to detail with the install. That said, they seemed, as best as I could tell, to know what they were doing.I think Shumate and Shaun definitely deserve a 5 star overall due to price, professionalism etc.. However, the experience was not absolutely 100% due to the issues listed above. I really think its important to be there for the customer at the end of the job and make sure everything is really on par with the satisfaction guarantee.Thank you Shumate!

I used a different service for years, but switched to Shumate when our furnace finally bit the bullet, back in 2015. They were much cheaper for the same quality and offered a better yearly program. We have had almost no issues but if we do, they are very responsive and never try to upsell you. Just recently had an issue with AC and they came out at 9pm on weeknight and got it fixed quickly. Jairus Watkins was the technician and he is exactly why I do business with Shumate. He diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly but also explained it to me and told me how to do a self fix if it happened again. Even though it was a quick fix he still went through and triple checked everything else. HIGHLY recommend Shumate!!

Always professional and friendly. There are few companies that I have delt with that have had such consistently good customer service. Theyve replaced two A/C units and one furnace for us with friendly, helpful sales people and installers that were happy to help show us how to use the new fancy pants thermostat and answer all of our questions. There were no issues at all and it all went very smoothly with painless financing that was approved from our home the same day we decided on a unit. The sales person that they sent out even talked me out of going with a more expensive unit I was ready to pull the trigger on that was bigger than what he said we needed given the house size and recommended a smaller Lennox unit from the same product line. Not only did I spend $1000-$1500 less (I dont remember the exact price difference as it was the first AC unit that they replaced) but I appreciate that kind of honesty given he would have received a bigger commission. I cant imagine my experience from top to bottom would be better anywhere else. Top notch all around. Highly recommended.

Shumate did plumbing work in early july. The price was reasonable and they came out on the same day I first called. The 2 guys that came out were on time, fast and did a good job. I would definatly use Shumate again for plumbing.

Shumate came out for an AC tune up on April 2nd and we had a musty smell for weeks after the service. I called Shumate and they scheduled another technician to come out and take a look. The scheduler said they would notify me before anything was charged. A technician came out today and no remedial work was done, but they still want to collect an $89 dollar service fee.We have been Shumate customers for over 5 years and had a complete system installation when we moved into our house. Pretty disappointed in the customer service with this visit since they were verifying their own tune up work and still charging a fee.

Units need regular repairs - Heating and AC: the quality of their Lennox equipment is poor! I purchased 2 HVAC units in the last 2 years and have had a total of 4 repairs. . I would not recommend based on my experience.The people are nice but I need my AC working!

Shumate is 100% professional and ethical. I had another electrician charge me $1000 and did NOT fix my AC and lighting issues. He then gave me an estimate for $1600 to fix my lighting by replacing all the lights and switches. Shumate diagnosed my AC as needing to be replaced, which I did, and fixed my lighting issues for $375 by finding loose breakers in the panel, a loose ground, and loose wires in some lights and outlets - which the $1,000 electrician never even looked at. I am sticking with Shumate for all of my AC, electrical, plumbing, and handyman needs. Thank you Shumate!

I’ve been a Shumate customer for several years. They provide great service with competent technicians. Recently I had an issue with my air conditioner and they repaired it promptly. Later in the hot season I noticed the air was not as cool as it should be. Shumate worked with me diligently to uncover the problem and repaired it quickly. I am in the process of moving and will gladly call Shumate to service my next home.

It was a pleasure working with the people from Shumate from the person that prepared our estimate to the technicians that performed the installation. All were friendly and courteous and genuinely interested in winning and keeping our business. I highly recommend Shumate.

Worst AC company I have ever used. They are overpriced to begin with and find a reason why you should not be covered under warranty every time. For years, I used them for my residential and commercial properties. I finally moved to reliable heating and air. I save over 45% on service contracts alone and get better service.

Was charged over $200 for an ambiguously labeled part (hot surface ignitor) on the invoice I was provided. When I pressed them for further details about this part, and it took repeated inquiries to finally get an answer, I learned I was charged over $200 for a $40 part (at retail price and assume they get for less) - over 500% mark-up - WHICH IS A RIPOFF, by any reasonable measure. I don’t do business with any organization that practices this kind of underhanded shenanigans and have not done business with them since. Shame on Shumate!!

Shumate states facemasks do not help in the fight against covid-19 and this is not only factually incorrect but dangerous information. They should not be allowed to work near people with this sort of belief printed on their website.

Tech comes and checks my unit for not cooling 3 year and 10 months ago. Compressor is obviously bad with rubbing sounds and clanking. Costs 1400 to have compressor replaced. The very same unit stops cooling 2 weeks ago. Tech comes out today to inspect and finds the compressor is not working. Everything else on the unit and system from before and today is ok per both techs that worked on it. So the first thing out the techs mouth is the compressor is out of warranty. Less than 4 years after install by them and this company expects me to pay another who knows what for them to install another shotty piece of their equipment or have it installed wrong like the current one. No thank you. Look elsewhere for long term support as opposed to this company.

The technicians arrived bright and early and were ready to work. They were very friendly and answered any question I had. They did a great job installing my new furnace and they made sure it was working properly. I would definitely recommend this company. A1 company, A1 technicians.

I was having problems with my A/C unit, and had a Shumate engineer come out to diagnose and recommend a solution. Two days later their team installed the recommended changes and the system is now working perfectly. My experience with Shumate is now two for two - they know what they are doing!

Dont use this company. I was a contract customer, and when I called for emergency service on a Sunday they would not send anyone out. They said they would send a technician first thing Monday. The technician never came. Find a different company if you want good service.

Made an appointment for air conditioning repair. They called at 5pm saying they wouldnt be able to be at my home until 8pm. After I sat at home waiting all day. I pointed out that it would be dark at 8pm and they said it didnt matter - they could find a leak in the dark. They said that I could just take another day off and they would reschedule if I would prefer. Supposedly they had a maintenance call late in the day and it turned into a repair. So instead of scheduling a repair for that customer they just bumped me off the schedule. Guess that return customer was much more important than I am as a return customer. No - I dont want a repair man to come to my house at 8pm in the dark to try to repair an outdoor system after he has worked for over 12 hours in that day. Will definitely not be using them again.

Another great job by Shumate! The installation crew was great. They arrived on time. Went to work immediately and did not stop until the job was completed. Afterward, they made sure we were satisfied with the installation and went over the operation of the new thermostat and system operation. Did a great plumbing job

I have used them for 3 years and after my last encounter with them, very disappointed. Will never use them again nor recommend them. After having them out 10 days earlier to get our systems winter ready, I went to turn on the heat and it didnt work. They came back out and I was quoted a $1400 kit that was needed for the furnace or, they recommended, a new furnace. I got a second opinion and $160 later, there were several loose wires that were tightened up and it is working fine now.
