One of the best spots to find Lithuanian food! Definitely get the fried bread with cheese as a beer snack and try the cold summer borscht. As most restaurants, they’re understaffed due to covid, but everyone is trying their best and helping each other. Be patient!
Great place to relax, eat some delicious food. You can even dance there sometimes. They do a stand-up comedy once in a while, you can laugh the whole night long, what I actually did yesterday. Service is great, very polite and attentive. Easy parking if someone is worried about it. Highly recommend this place to those who likes cleanness and good service.
I don’t know what happened to this place. We’ve been the customers for years in Summit location. The food we’ve got was just cheap imitation of the one they’ve used to make. Blend, tasteless and expensive. I’ve used to recommend this restaurant to everyone and now I feel sorry to leave 1 star review after being a customer for so long.
The food was not bad. Lamb carob good but dry. Potato pancakes and soup good. SERVICE was awful. Will not be back
Wonderful experience! The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, and the food is to die for. We had the cheese and garlic bread as a appetizer and it was so good. I had a cup of borcht soup with perogies and it was just like my grandma makes. So unbelievably good I was blown away. My husband and I will definitely be back to try more of the menu!
It was the best place in the area, and Ive recommended it to all of my friends, until I received WARMED yesterdays steak... And after I complained - no one cared. Sad. It was my last visit here.Edit:Ive ordered medium well steak. I received WARMED, dry, cold inside, not freshly prepared steak. How i know that? I was your customer for more than one year. And Ive ordered a lot of steaks, always with good tips. And always it was a great steak. Until last time, when i received totally different kind of steak. But i understand that youre a manager, and need to fake it till the end, no matter how bad is attitude of your employees. And, as was mentioned by other reviewers here, Ive also waited a lot of time for your blonde bartender, while she was on the phone, or talking about life with another customers. Youre a great place, from one side. But your restaurant needs a better management, customer oriented.Good luck.
First the staff was very pleasant, made sure we were aware of the hot platters. The food amazing . Everything had its own flavor that just burst in our mouth. The mushroom barley soup with the bread slices were so good I wanted more but knew with my soup like this I should save room for main course. The food made us try each other’s meals so we could continue to experience all the flavors. The drinks were generous and well priced. Five stars isn’t enough but you judge for yourself and check them out. I am so use to giving poor reviews but this place demanded a review for the greatness. I’ll def be back.
Good food, fast service, big portions. I enjoyed it.
Eastern European food is served in this contemporary setting. Zeppelins were always a favorite of mine and these did not disappoint. The beet soup was prepared differently with added meat and vegetables. However it was tasty and I would order it again. I look forward to going back and trying more items. Maybe a combination plate.
I used to go EVERY year to Grand Dukes for my birthday Mothers Day Easter pretty much any holiday when it was in Summit Illinois because it WAS so good I would ONLY have it on special occasions so I didnt get tired of it. Now that theyre in Downers Grove Im not going to lie it was a nice restaurant but our waiter was completely horrible. First of all he wasnt giving us time to order our food he just kept coming up to the table every 2 seconds asking asking if we were ready at which we were NOT and we told him we needed more time, but he continued to come very often almost rushing us when NOBODY else was in the restaurant, then after we got our food, which by the way was NOTHING to brag about at all and VERY overpriced, we NEVER seen our waiter again. I literally had to go and hunt him down to get the check. It was just me and my friend and one other table the restaurant was completely empty besides us and the waiter just completely disappears. (Over 30 minutes)Unfortunately I will not be going back to this Grand dukes
We were familiar with the original location on Harlem. This location had a different atmosphere, mainly due to distinct decor changes. The food was good, though one order was delayed (?). A Reuben, which only requires assembly and warming, whereby the other 2 meals would be cooked and prepared, Im thinking. Whatever the delay we had to point this out to the waitstaff. We were the only table there at the time the order was placed, so again, why the delay. All told, the experience was ok! Maybe dinner is better for the price.
Recently we celebrated a birthday at Grand Dukes. It was amazing! The food was tasty, served beautifully, and the service was exceptional.I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience a real celebration - when everything is taken care of and they can just enjoy their friends and family.
Ordered and when came to pick up they said 10 more min. Understandable sometimes orders take longer. Wednesday night it is. I can imagine how long they take on sat. Dont come here unless you dont value your time. They took an hour waiting with the kid
Best russian food and best food ever and best restaurant ever!! No fake populists or anything like that. The quality is in the taste!
Takeout is 20% during the week. Really enjoyed my potato dumplings. Very fulfilling. My friend later ordered more off the menu and really enjoyed the food. Certainly will go back and try more on the menu
Amazing staff, very good service and very delicious food. We were there not first time, and for sure not the last time. Thanks and well see you soon.
Although it was a very busy time the staff was all amazing! The food was delicious with great portions!
Everything was delicious - cold borscht, caviar crepes, kugelis, pierogis, Hungarian goulash. Server was busy but still could have been more attentive. Very fun meal.
Its a great restaurant, it was very good experience and the food and the service was great. This is my third time and I am planning to go there more often to try all of their dishes because they do serve good food the only reason I gave them for stars was because the duck I have ordered was cold inside which is unacceptable, and for all of you that dont know the duck is usually prepared day or two before and they put it in the fridge and then warm it up for you just like some chicken dishes. And that its okay, and you will not probably notice any difference. But not in my case I love duck and I do know how to prepare poultry and it always taste different on the next day and it does taste different 2 days later because poultry is always the best fresh, but it is hard for the restaurant to put up with preparing duck to your service so I understand the procedure but still you have to warm it up properly and thats why I gave them only four stars. When it comes to other dishes they were excellent and very traditionall Lithuanian dishes. Ive even told my wife that if you like good Polish food and you cannot find a good Polish restaurant nearby then you have to try the Lithuanian and you have to come to Grand Dukes they do have great food selection and their bar is full of good liquor. They even have Russian Vodka Beluga which in my opinion is the best vodka in the world, if you like the vodka made out of wheat. So keep up good work Grand Dukes I hope I will be able to update my review.Mack.S
It is a beautiful place, serving quite good Lithuanian and Eastern European cuisine as well as American food if youd like. Overall the atmosphere is amazing and Id recommend everyone in the area to try it.
Excellent food!! Great variety! Come HUNGRY! Andreea was a fantastic waitress! Im definitely going to come back and try more of the menu!!
My husband and I checked out this restaurant on Friday evening, it wasnt super busy which was nice. The stuff is super nice. We got bread for the table, it was a little stale. I ordered Shrimp Chowder, it was really good but a little salty. My husband ordered a burger. The portions are big. There was live music, a little loud but nice.
I’m happy. It’s European restaurant with great service and delicious food. Excellent selection of Lithuanian dishes
Great food and nice service. Loved the sauerkraut 💓👍
This is a wonderful European restaurant. Their Lithuanian dishes are phenomenal. They also offer family style carry-out, which comes with a lot of food. Weve not had anything we havent loved there yet! Oh, and the chocolate cake they have there - well, even my chocolate non-loving boyfriend thinks its the best.
Good food, nice place, but it takes hours for waiters to bring smth
We loved visiting the new location. The sauerkraut soup was fantastic. The mushroom and barley soup was on the bland side. We tried the flaming cheese and enjoyed the presentation. However, only the edges of the cheese were melted; the middle was still solid. And we only got four small pieces of toast to go with the cheese; we could have used at least eight. We both built our own combo plates and enjoyed almost everything on them. The kugelis, Siberian pierogi, potato pancakes, and zeppelin were amazing. The Polish sausage was too mild for my taste. Service was excellent, and then new location is beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the music selection. We will definitely be going back to try more of the menu.
Great place with delicious food and nice ambiance. Love the music there, service is also pretty good. Nice cocktails and they have oysters ;)
Kinda disappointed. We came as a big group for my mothers birthday. Our waitress forgot my mothers order and brought her something completely different. Potato pancakes were gummy, smelled and tasted like fish was frying on the same pan. Stew was way too spicy. Its not what I remember from 2 years before. Also whats up with these slate tiles as plates? Were they on sale at home depot? They were oily and it doesnt look tasty.
Easily amongst my top two go to spots for anything from a casual drink to a full family dinner or party. The food is exceptional and the atmosphere and service is top notch. The ambience is casual chic classy and good for business meetings and dinners as well.
I went there for dinner on Friday May 21st. The music from the band was a bit too loud but the food was SPECTACULAR !!!!! I ordered the Hungarian Goulash. It came in a cauldron along with a side of Potato pancakes. The Goulash was the best I have ever had and the Potato pancakes were the best I have ever had as well. Not only that but the drinks the bartender made were well made and very tasty. I will be going back again and very soon.
I usually go out in Chicago, but this place makes it into my top 4 favorite places for drinks! Every cocktail I tried did not disappoint. Live music is great too!
Delicious food, reasonable priced. It has a blend of Lithuanian, Polish and Russian cousine
Great eastern European food. I go their for polish meals
0822191st time at new place. The inside appears the same as it was before so I dont think it was remodeled but again I was only here a long time ago.We were there early so one waitress in the dining area but she was very quite, pilot but was able to answer my questions about the food. We ordered there Lithuanian combo and Polish combo to try the difference. The food was actually very good, tasty but I couldnt tell you if authentic since I havent had authentic Polish food in eons. You are served a basket of sliced bread and ther dishes didnt come with anything extra such as soup, salad but you dont need it. The portions on the combo platters are large so we pretty much took a whole plate home. The plates were got were a little high at $18 each and not sure if I think its worth that price.Food was good but priced too high, I think I may try it again to give it a fair shot.
Service was fantastic!!Food was amazing!!!Atmosphere was phenomenal...
I am frequently for DoorDash and order are NEVER ready on time. I dont understand why the restaurant is almost vacant when I arrive for the food. I haven never eaten there
Great food, incredible variety, friendly service. I really like this place.
What a horrible place to go have a nice dinner. Place is a bar not a restaurant! Rock music playing w h ile trying ro have a conversation? Terrible staff, long wait to busy on thier cell phones.
Great service. Friendly staff. Good food.
Do not order from the Grand Dukes!!!!They are usually charge us most more and when you ordering with Uber Eats make sure you get your order!!!They are always charge for all order and you never get the order you have booked.Theres how Grand Dukes stilling your money!!!Be careful with them!!! Youll pay full price and never get full order. Also they are selling old food !!!
Went here to dine with the family on my 40th birthday. Everything was extremely delicious, generous portions with beautiful food presentation! Cepelinai with cottage cheese were the best from all the lithuanian restaurants just the way they are supposed to be. We had a great time and definitely will be back many more times.
Loved our experience here! Appetizers, dinners, dessert, it was all fantastic! There was entertainment too. He played a wide variety and dint over power the room. Ill be back for sure!
Awesome service great food! Very traditional Lithuanian foods available as well as some favorites from other countries. Great atmosphere. Will definitely go back.
Good food, nice atmosphere, service could use a little help
The food is plentiful, reasonable, authentic & delicious!I’ve enjoyed their schnitzel, zeppelins, spaetzel, mashed potatoes & gravy...one meal can be split 3 times! We ordered a full Thanksgiving meal this year...the turkey was perfectly seasoned and juicy. The stuffing was also incredible and all of the sides were freshly homemade.I would not hesitate to eat their food again & hopefully soon!
Great Authentic European Food. Great Portion Size. Delicious! We will be back!
So delicious! Great atmosphere and cool bar area!
Service was excellent. Duck with lingo berry sauce was out of this world. Weiner schnitzel could have used a little more gravy. Everything else was great, and just the right kind of food for a snowy day.
Delicious, hearty dishes, very clean location. Bathrooms were well tended and staff was friendly.Theres a sizeable drinks list to peruse, and a nice mix of traditional fare and standard American cuisine for the less adventurous.
Very delicious Polish food. The people that work there are very friendly.
Grand Dukes is an interesting (in decor...it has a knights-of-the-round-table feel) place to visit for authentic Lithuanian food that is nicely prepared. They have reduced their menu offerings to less than they used to have, but still do the food well. Bring your appetites...you will be eating very hearty food that you will most likely take some home in a doggy bag with you. The chicken Vilnius is my new fave, and their kugelis, as well as potato pancakes, are excellent. Prices have also changed...(theyve gone UP) but, this is a specialty restaurant that you only visit every now and then...so, its worth the price of admission. They also have delicious soups (the mushroom is Great, along with beet soup) and nice Polish and Lithuanian combo plates that give you a nice taste of both cuisines. They do have gambling machines and offer live music on Fridays. So, if youre really hungry, and are looking for well-prepared ethnic Lithuanian food....stop in to Grand Dukes...just a stones throw from Toyota park on Harlem Avenue. (Photo is the chicken Vilnius I mentioned earlier. )
Tastefully refurbished new location with delicious authentic Lithuanian food. Make sure to come with extra space in your tummy as the portions are filling and defiantly grab some in house made kvass with your meal. The servers are friendly and will be glad to explain to you the authentic dishes that they offer. Would defiantly recommend to stop by!
Delicious food and great live music.
Great presentation of the food and even better flavors! So delicious, will definitely be back!
Food was over priced and tasted like it was out of a box frozen. Restaurant was extremely cold and music was blaring from speakers of the radio station they choose, barely could hear the waitress the few times she got a chance to come check on our table cause it seem like they were so incredibly understaffed. Very disappointed all around!!
Outstanding Lithuanian fare with a delightful Romanian waitress!
Nice scene for Lithuanian food. Great hospitality. Definitely worth going back to. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I loved to visit.
Great place to eat, drink and enjoy a good atmosphere with family and friends. Thanks to Stela, who was very kind and helpful with us 😊 We’ll be back!
The food is delicious and there is an excellent Eastern European beer selection!
Oh. My. God. I love Eastern European food, and this did not disappoint. The mushroom barley soup was amazing--so flavorful and even with our carry-out order it was too hot to eat! The pelmeni were tasty--a little different from the St. Petersburg ones Im used to, but still very tasty and it was enough for two meals. My friend had the stuffed cabbage, and they were amazing as well. Thinking about how tasty those leftovers will be tomorrow. Cant wait to try more things on their menu.
I’m very disappointed with taste of food.Taste of food go down very much, compared with last year.Me and my gests were so unhappy. Service was good - can not complain!!! But food!!!!!- terrible. Never- ever would not racomend even to homless....
Thirsty Pig restaurant! Was ok! The pull pork was very good! The pull chicken was dry. The the server was not very good she did not know what was on the menu basically . We ordered dessert and it says it comes with ice cream. Shes told us it would be extra but it was on there menu. She had the nerve to tell us there was no extra charge for the ice cream which I couldnt believe she said that. The food came out slowly. I know they are new.
