Food and service were amazing!I inhaled the Chicken Saltimbocca and the Lasagna was delicious, very generous portions.The Minestrone and Split Pea soups were great starters.Whiskey Sour was in a tall glass, good price.The Espresso Martini and Mango Italian Ice were wonderful desserts.

I visited Gattos Rest on the last Friday in August. Great place, food, and atmosphere. Additionally our server was Kaithleen (I think that was the name). It was her first day at the job, and she was awesome. I recommend this place a 100%. I will certainly return!

The food is consistently good. The service has been consistently poor. I don’t blame the servers. The overall operation seems a tad chaotic and they could probably use some help in the management department.I will continue to eat her periodically. I simply need to adjust my expectations in advance.

2 stars only because the staff is kind and welcoming. Other than that, food was not tasty at all. Some of the seafood seemed raw and shrimp tasted like medicine. Chicken meat had weird texture and nothing had any seasoning (spices). Small water glasses were dirty, which they exchanged for new glasses but still not a good scenery at the table. And In my opinion, tables for dining should be little higher and with table cloths.

I always enjoy Gatto in Downers Grove. It is casual, inviting, and comfortable. Sat outside, dined al fresco; in what my friend termed, its like a Paris bistro setting. It was a warm Thursday evening, so enjoyed zucchini appetizer and the calamari and shrimp salad. Very fresh seafood. There was a small combo playing live music making the whole experience just delightful. The server was very attentive, yet not bothersome providing more than adequate time to enjoy drinks, the music and food.

For my first time visit with my sister and friend, I went here for a girls evening. However, the food was typical Italian food. Nothing on the menu popped out at me. Our waiter was cordial, but we felt rushed as if they were ready for us to leave. That was a turn off for me.

Just stopped in and enjoyed a great local establishment. Courteous and prompt service. The workers knew the clientele. Pricing was excellent. Welcome way to end your day.

Taking covid 19 into consideration, the service was unacceptably slow went to have dinner with two of my cousins the wait time for the table wasnt bad, but once we got to the table it took forever to be waited on. The food was mediocre at best I wont be back there again. There are too many other restaurants in downtown Downers Grove that seemed more promising.

This is an excellent restaurant! The food is fantastic (try the Eggplant Parm Thursday-Saturday only). The people are friendly and so willing to take care of you. Dine in or do curb, the food is the best and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend.

We had dinner on Friday evening, it wasnt super busy. The food was really good. The bread for the table delicious and fresh. The stuff super nice and friendly.

Did a family carryout meal. The food was good. The cannolis that came with the meal were disappointing, they filled them from both sides, but left the centers empty. I feel if theyre cheating you on something as simple as cannoli filling, what else are they shorting you on that you wont notice.

This is such a charming place. We were walking by looking for someplace to have dinner and it caught my eye. When we went in I felt like I was back in Italy. The atmosphere, the service and especially the food. The food was so very good. I had the brashhta and the meat was so tender and the sauce on it so flavorful. Cant wait to go back again.

We just got dinner delivered from Gattos for the first time. It was fantastic! The dinners were piping hot and absolutely delicious with very generous portions. Cant wait for our next order!

Trying to support local business, but no. Service was not good. We were really hungry, but everything took soooo long. Didnt bring all first courses together, then with dinner brought another soup. Food so so. My alfredo had no flavor and I love alfredo. Caprese salad just ok. The best employee was one of the bus persons. They came to our table more than our waiter. Wait staff needs to know when to check tables and how often, this is a management issue. However, now the food is suspicious too, probably wont be going back for a while.

We placed an order for Easter and my husband Doug picked it up and we were so impressed starting with how they packaged our food. They Neatly placed in catering packages and then in boxes which were taped. The aroma filled my car 🤤😋 I couldn’t wait to get home and eat.Everyone loved the food! A very sad dining experience. No atmosphere. Small and uninteresting menu. Had to wait 10 minutes just to get utensils that should have came with the food so the food got cold. Food itself was bland. Its cheap to eat here but you could find cheaper store bought frozen ravioli thats way better.

We like a lot going out. Last night we came to this delicious restaurant which we didn’t know before. We passed a delightful experience there with great dishes and a professional crew and a talented cuisine. We put this restaurant in our phone list and we shall no doubt come back soon. Me and a few of my colleagues decided to come here Sunday night after a long day at work. I was looking forward to relaxing and eating some good Italian food. The restaurant wasnt busy so it was strange that the food came out almost a hour later. When I finally got my order it looks delicious but unfortunately it was mediocre. Service was so inadequate I didnt even bother to complain to them.

Food was eccelente! Not much decor but service was good and everyone enjoyed their dish. Warm bread with butter, oil and parmesan was served with our drinks. It was a pinch too loud with the music though as we occasionally couldnt hear each other access from our table of 4. Growing up with Italians though, Id say it was quite fitting though the unfamiliar disliked it. I would enjoy going here again with my family next time because I think theyd really enjoy it.

I love Gattos! Their chicken Milano is amazing! I got it with broccoli instead of pasta or potatoes. I also tried the cheese tortellini with Alfredo sauce and it was the best I had ever had. Its a bonus that theyre walking distance from the train station because we were able to drink as much wine as we wanted. Our server Vince or Vinny (cant remember his name for sure) was great! So attentive and friendly! He was so accommodating to my crazy family and I want to say there was about 10 of us or so. I cant wait to go back here, and if you havent tried it you need to!

Was very disappointed with Gattos. Being Italian, I definitely know how to cook and since I didnt feel like it, I decided to try them out for the 1st time. The salad I ordered was fresh, very crisp and that was it!!! We ordered the gnocchi and veal parmesan. First the gnocchi... it was over-cooked and was like eating a glob of dough. Everything was stuck together. Next the veal...totally over-cooked and dried out!! My 2 favorite dishes and had them wrapped up and threw them out when we were home. I was hoping for a good Italian restaurant, here in Downers Grove, but still havent found one. Some of the great Italian restaurants on Taylor street arent there anymore and was hoping for another place that would have been like them. Very big disappointment and a big waste of money!!!!

Over all good ambience. Service got busy around 6:30. It took an hour to get our food and after asking 3 times for gluten free options, I was still left with a gluten reaction. This place is nice but not for the gluten sensitive. The waiter was very apologetic regarding the wait time.

Always a joy to stop in for a drink or dinner. Pat was a fantastic young server, seemed to know every customer and paid special attention to the little kids at the table next to us. Great evening

We had our office holiday party there. It was a very nice space with great service. I am on a gluten free diet (for me health) and when I asked if the food being served had gluten the server said it did and brought me another plate with a gluten free version of the same meal. Absolutely outstanding service-- Im talking above and beyond what we would have expecting from a typical dining experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and comfortable and the food was phenomenal- delicious and of great quality. They have a great menu, with something to suite everyone and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you are getting. Im not usually a big dessert person, but must say that even their desserts were awesome.Ivan was our server at the downtown Downers Grove location and provided us with an exceptional dining experience, although I would imagine all of their servers are probably great. Will definitely be going back soon!

The restaurant itself is fairly cozy, and is clearly more upscale than something such as an Olive Garden. There is a great atmosphere here, but the food itself is only decent. I personally enjoyed the food, but found it a bit pricey for what I was given. It was overall a good restaurant, but I would rather go somewhere else to spend an equivalent amount of money on a meal.

Took almost an hour for the food to come. When it came it was not eatable and I am not exaggerating. No taste, not cooked well, just plain and tasteless. Service very poor.
