Langs was recommended to me by a family member. Taking the family on summer vacation to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Wisconsin. I drive a 2014 Honda Odyssey, Langs change out the timing belt and water pump. Put bigger brakes on the front because I experienced shaking at high speeds. Just got back from vacation and the car ran better than the day I bought it. Thanks so much Langs for your attention to detail.

I have been taking my cars to this auto service for over a few years now. Every time I found that I have received the best service I could ask for. From break pads to axle problems to any other mechanical issues these guys take care of it all. The main mechanic that I use here it is Tim and he has been very honest and has always explained every issue to me. The turnaround time is also really fast. Most of the time I can drop off my car in the morning and pick it up in the evening. It’s also nice that this place is located in the heart of Downers Grove right by the train tracks. There have been times that I have had to go to the city on the train and I would drop off the car for repairs and then pick it up afterwards. Overall I am always satisfied with the service I received in there.

My father has been using this place for years, and yesterday he was stuck in the snow, with a dead battery. My elderly dad was desperate, so he called them up, and they came out and jumped his car, and helped push his car that was stuck in the snow!! You just dont find honest, and hardworking people like that anymore.

WOW. Honestly, that sums this place up. I dropped off my Jeep, the next day received a call from the owner, Ray, who explained everything very throughly and in no way made me feel like I was being sold to. They found an issue with my subframe... but before calling me, they researched the issue and found that it was a known problem with my make and model. They also found that Chrysler had extended a warranty for this issue. So what did Ray do? He called the dealership for me to ensure theyd cover it and he even setup an appointment for them to fix it! For him to go that extra step, was definitely above and beyond my expectations. Although, the best part of this entire situation was that Ray told me if I had any issues or they tried to have me pay extra for something, to give him a call. Come to find out, there were extra charges, because in order to get to the subframe, they had to remove & replace the control arms. I called Ray, and he told me he could do it for much less, but since it was already there, that I might want to just have them take care of it. He looked up the parts for me and gave me some guidance on negotiating with them!!! With that, I was able to talk the dealership down about $200! This was my first time taking my vehicle to Langs, and they absolutely gained a lifelong customer out of this situation.

This place is the best! Trustworthy, efficient, friendly. The guys will give real world advice, saving you on unnecessary repairs. The are always cheaper than the dealership. I recently saved nearly $1000 over the dealers quote for my 100,000 mile tune up.

Let me start by saying that we have taken our vehicles her for a few years now and have always had great service. This week, the service went above and beyond. I had an issue the day after having our brakes repaired at Langs. I phoned them and they sent a mechanic within 5 minutes. After diagnosing the problem, they repaired my car (without charging a thing, although the easily could have!). We had to wait on parts so we were without our car for 2 days, but I was okay with that. I got home tonight and my husband said there was a Starbucks gift card for me on the counter from Langs, because they felt badly that the issue had happened to me with my small children in the car!!! I mean...talking about excellent customer service!!!!These guys do great work and they now have our loyalty for as long as we require service. I was beginning to believe businesses like this didnt exist anymore, but I was wrong. If you are anywhere near this area and need car maintenance/repairs...THIS IS YOUR PLACE! This will hopefully always be my go-to mechanic. I trust these guys with my life and my cars life. They are intelligent and talk to me on whatever level I need to understand whats going on with my car. I really appreciate that they dont over explain things Im very familiar with but will go into detail to help me understand car troubles I havent had the fortune of dealing with yet. Youll need to make an appointment a week ahead of time because they do such great work, but you can trust that whatever youre getting done will be done right and you wont be acrewed over unnecessarily.

Pretty incredible. Bought a used car off of CL, went to a couple different guys near me trying to fix it. Last guy told me $3k+ for the timing belt and that didnt include the leaking radiator. A car guy at work recommended Langs, it was a bit far, was told they were booked and would be a week before they could look at it.Three days later I picked up a completely fixed car for less than $800. They were professional, explained everything they found, and extremely reasonably priced. It is really nice to have a good mechanic.

Im not usually one to take the time to post a review either way online, but if anyone deserves a moment of time from me its the staff at Langs. I moved to the burbs a year ago and had no idea where to go to get my 07 Jeep serviced, specifically where I wouldnt get scammed into spending unnecessary $$. My boss referred me to Langs and from day one I was sold - friendly, knowledgeable, patient and direct staff that arent going to up-charge or push unnecessary services/parts/overall costs on you. Always very quick to respond to questions and even better at always being able to fit my Jeep in for service no matter how minor or severe. Its really nice to have a professional service that you can trust, which is exactly what Langs is!

Everyone at Langs is fabulous; they take excellent care of their customers. They always give detailed diagnoses of the issues and tell you which repairs are urgent/necessary vs. not urgent, and they find ways to save you money. They are always accommodating with drop-off and pickup, and their proximity to train station is an added bonus. Will not take my car anywhere else!

While youre not going to get a break on the price - youll pay a fair price; what the job costs - you WILL get quality service from a really knowledgeable and friendly staff. I cant rate this shop highly enough. You know they are a good shop when they are booked for a week straight. The first time I came into the shop I knew I needed to get my brake pads and rotors replaced. When I called to make an appointment, they said that I may not need to change the rotors, and I should come in before buying parts (I like buying my own parts even if the shop cant warranty them). I still bought the rotors anyway, but it was great to talk to a shop that was actively trying to save me money. Very reputable, and very reasonably priced. I drive a half hour out of my way just to bring my cars here. The only problem with giving them such a good review is that more people will be making appointments, but I would recommend them to anyone.

I have taken my car here a few times and will go no where else. You know how driving a car does not make you a car expert, well thats me. I need someone who I can trust when my car is acting up to tell me the truth about what the problem is and that is Langs. They wont try to sell you a bunch of fixes you dont need and they work to get the fairest price possible on any parts you need. My car is a money pit and they have saved me a few times by getting me in fast for the work I needed and getting it done right.

My Saab 9-2x broke down on Sunday and AAA towed it to Langs Auto. Something called an S hose had ruptured and would have cost over $100 to replace since Saab parts are hard to find. Fortunately, one of the staff members was really into Saabs, and had a spare hose lying around left over from upgrading his own car. Long story short: My car works great again; it was fixed by 11 am on Monday; the staff were super friendly; the part only cost 25 dollars.Plus the location is great. Check out Thai Cafe across the street.I used to go to Maas Auto, which is also great, but further away from where I live.

I almost didnt want to write this 5 star review, because there is almost always a wait to get an appointment here and I dont want the secret to get out anymore than it already is - this place is great. I have an Audi thats getting on in the milage and having some of its first real maintenance issues, and I started taking it here after basically only having the dealer look at it before. The only difference between here and the dealer is the free coffee and allure of the new years lineup to test my will power; in fact, the expertise is probably better here. Its a real hometown feel - you see the same people all the time, they tell you honestly what they would do if it was their car, and they have even stayed late for me to pick up my car when work kept me past closing.tl;dr - Would recommend them to anybody.

Ray did an evaluation on a used car I was thinking of buying. He informed me there were issues with the carfax and suggested I not buy the car. I took his advice and did not purchase. I would suggest that anyone looking to buy a car in the area to have Ray evaluate it prior to buying.
